A Very Special Episode [Completed]

Character(s): Urd, Vyers, Laharl
Content: Vyers and Laharl are manipulated by a certain goddess.
Setting: Outside Muspelheim Gate
Time: Evening, Week 7
Warnings: None.

It'd been a fairly busy week for Urd, really. Finding a new place and settling in, getting closer to Genie, dealing with Yorda and her boy. But this, this particular task was one she'd really been looking forward to. This had to do with demons, after all.

She sat on the outside of the roof of the domes of the city, unnoticed by those citizens milling so far below. After all, who would think to look up? Idly playing with a curling tendril of white hair tinged slightly lavender by the natural evening light, Urd watched the fields below carefully.

Both said they'd come...both, presumably, out of love. Or at the very least, some kind of attachment. Even demons from her world had, she supposed, some emotion to them outside of the usual greed and hatred and lust for power. How far would these two go, both so in denial of their own feelings? She didn't know but she was greatly looking forward to finding out.

So that so called 'Love Goddess' had come across something about Etna? That's what it had sounded like. What she could have possibly found out was rather a mystery, but the Overlord wasn't going to miss a chance to find something out about his missing vassal. If something HAD happened to her, he wanted to know!

Making up some excuse for going out to Flonne wasn't too hard, and it wasn't too long after that the Overlord was sneaking his way through the gate. Trudging through the grass, he looked around wondering where exactly they were meant to meet?

The instructions had been out of the guards sight or something, right?

Hm.

Judging himself to be far enough out, Laharl folded his arms and waited. Wasn't much else to do at this point, since he seemed to be alone

So this woman had a solution, did she? The other woman, Donna, had had quite a bit of advice for him. It was... still all very difficult to sort through, to be honest, and he needed more time to think on it, but the other woman, the one who spoke so much of love, had offered her own solution. And yet... something told him that this wasn't exactly the best of ideas. But what other option did he have?

As he approached the designated meeting spot, he could only curse that this option had him face-to-face with Laharl.

Not that that was a bad thing, of course. He did want to see his son, but he had yet to figure out what he was going to say! And he had to wonder just how the woman had brought Laharl here in the first place. Had... could he have agreed to come, too? Hm... No, that almost didn't seem like him.

Ah... how he wanted to leave the area. It would only be a temporary retreat, of course, only long enough to gather his thoughts and return. It would be simple, would it not? Laharl obviously hadn't noticed him yet. He could be gone in an instant with none-the-wiser. And yet...

And yet he was there now and the easy option suddenly didn't seem that easy. Even if it almost made the hard option even harder.

While he hadn't appeared to have noticed Vyers, the brief flicker of a familiar presence before it had quickly masked itself had been enough to tip off the young Overlord. At first, however, Laharl pretended like he hadn't noticed, wondering exactly his Old Man was doing out here. Had he followed him? Why?

After a few long moments, when it became clear nothing was happening, Laharl sighed where he stood, not even bothering to turn around.

"I know you're standing there."

So he had noticed him... Well, that took care of one decision (whether that was relieving or not was still in the air). Vyers walked a little closer, rubbing the back of his head. "S-do you do..." He knew he should say something at this point, but he wasn't entirely sure what. Did he just come out and say he wanted to fix things or was there supposed to be some sort of lead-up?

"...How long has Etna been missing?" he finally asked. Business would work for now, would it not?
overlords_wrath: (Look Over)

Laharl narrowed his eyes for a moment as Vyers questioned him. Was that why he'd appeared here? To ask him about Etna? He seemed nervous though.

And where was that Goddess? He had a feeling something fishy was going on here... but, whatever. He'd just go along with things for now.

"A week, I guess," was Laharl's reply. She'd just disappeared. Sometime when he was trying to wake up Flonne, he'd realized she'd gone missing. He hadn't thought of it as something to be concerned with right away, but after a few days he'd started to wonder. He wasn't sure if she'd just gone off again, or vanished. Though, Laharl wasn't sure she'd have just run off. Not with Flonne how she was...

A week? That long? ...Though he had been busy looking for Timon during that time, and Laharl had been busy as well. "Let us hope it isn't the Organization again, or else we might have two people to save." He sighed and went silent for a moment, looking anywhere but at Laharl as he tried to pull his thoughts--and himself--together. He absolutely hated looking so... awkward, regardless of whether or not he was.

He, too, was beginning to wonder where the woman was. Had this been her plan all along? To trick the two of them into meeting one another here? This was a horrible plan! Why in the world had he agreed to this?! Not that he knew that this was what would happen, but that was hardly the point!

"And... you are well?"
overlords_wrath: (Hmmm)

[personal profile] overlords_wrath 2009-06-24 10:51 am (UTC)(link)
He really didn't want to think they could have taken her, even though it was a third possibility. She'd been still healing from the fight with Larxene the last he'd seen her, since Flonne hadn't been awake to use magic to fix her. Getting injured again would be...

Ergh. It wasn't a nice thing to think about by far. Hopefully, whatever happened to her, and Timon for that matter, it wasn't the Organization this time. Unfortunately, it wasn't something that could be ruled out either. "Yeah... let's hope."

Laharl finally lifted an eyebrow, glancing to his Old Man. Could he be any more obviously awkward? In fact, it was making this seem less like he'd been following. What was he doing out here then?

Wait a minute.

Was this some kind of setup? Somehow the idea of that Goddess... What was her name? Urd? He had the impression she would be the kind to do something like this.

It didn't exactly annoy him. He was tired of his Vyers constant avoiding him. From the way he was acting righ tnow, Laharl suspected looking at it now, he didn't want to be here. So why was he even bothering?

"Fine, I guess," Laharl finally replied.

He paused then spoke up again, "What are you doing out here?"

The Overlord was curious of what his reply would be.

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-06-24 08:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Vyers froze, eyes flickering to the ground before looking back to Laharl again. He broke out into a large, nervous grin, making quick, dismissive gestures and all the while mentally cursing his decision to come in the first place. "Is that really so important right now?" he asked. "I am more than certain this question can..."

He trailed off, suddenly realizing something was off. He leaned slightly to the side as he looked behind Laharl. Did the scenery look like it was changing? Not like they were going anywhere of course, but it almost looked like...

Vyers's eyes widened and he looked down, watching as the grass quickly grew higher. What did shrinking them have to do with repairing bonds?! They'd been had!
overlords_wrath: (I heard that!)

[personal profile] overlords_wrath 2009-06-25 09:58 am (UTC)(link)
"Can, what?" the young demon said, giving the older demon an exasperated look. "Tch, c'mon. I'm not stupid you know. I can tell you--"

Laharl cut off as he noticed Mid-Boss was looking past him so strangely. What the hell was he looking at? Wait a minute. Was... everything growing? No... He was the one shrinking!

The Overlord had a look of surprise written across his face as the grass became taller than he was. What the hell?! What was going on?

After a moment of looking around anxiously, Laharl snapped his gaze on Vyers once more. His glare couldn't have been more accusing. Because, it was obvious to him at this point that somehow his Old Man was connected to this.

"What the HELL did you do, Old Man?!"

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-06-25 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Vyers whipped his head back toward Laharl. "ME?! I did nothing!" he snapped back. "Why in the world would I do this to myself?!" Why did he always have to get blamed for everything? There were things out there that were simply out of his control, after all! He turned his back to the boy, trying to look through the grass. "We should return to the city," he decided, his annoyance showing through in his voice. "Hopefully someone in there knows how to fix this."

Why did the grass have to be so tall? He only hoped all of this wouldn't last very long. There was so little he could do while he was in such a state, not to mention how embarrassing it would be if someone saw him like this. He shuddered at the thought. If only he could get a clear view...

The eyes in the darkness went unnoticed, Vyers being too busy in his frustrated attempts to tear down the grass.
overlords_wrath: (Unimpressed)

Return to the city? Laharl huffed, "Yeah, I guess so." He wasn't done though.

"You must have done something to cause this, cause I sure as hell didn't. All I know is you followed me out here for some reason, acting all weird and nervous!" he snapped. Laharl felt he had a point. That's how things sure looked from his angle. "That's pretty damn suspicious!"

Busy yelling a Vyers, Laharl was also not paying attention to the sensation of another presence closing in on them.

Vyers turned back around, his exasperation clear on his face. "I was acting nothing of the sort!" he shot back, "I had only come to...!" He trailed off, unable to say it. "I did not know this would happen," he finished quietly, going back to moving through the grass.

"As I was saying before," he continued, attempting to change the subject again, "there should be someone in the city who knows how to fix this."

He was about to head a little further into the grass surrounding them when the cat appeared. Vyers hopped back, startled. He knew everything would be larger than it usually was, yes, but he wasn't expecting the animal to be that big. But it was just a cat, was it not? There shouldn't be anything to worry about, despite the fact that it was circling them... And had growled... And had a rather peculiar look in its eyes...

...Well! He had faced comparatively larger demons in the past and this was no more than a simple cat. Surely it couldn't be that hard.
overlords_wrath: (Oooo?)

[personal profile] overlords_wrath 2009-06-26 01:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Yeah right," Laharl muttered under his breath, before reluctantly following Vyers. Maybe he hadn't known, but obviously he'd been up to something.

"Like who? I don't know about you, but I don't know anyone who can fix random shrinking," the boy shot back, looking rather unhappy as their current situation was sinking in. Could he be dreaming? This seemed more like a dream than something that could actually happen.

Especially when he realized, finally, they had company. A... cat? At their current size, the feline looked huge. Not that it bothered Laharl all that much, he'd taken down far larger foe than himself too many times, but of all the times...

The fact that a regular normal cat wasn't to be found anywhere in Paixao was momentarily forgotten. Laharl didn't seem all that worried, however. In fact, the Overlord looked more annoyed as he stared at the relatively large, dark figure that was circling them.

"Oi! Get lost you stupid fleabag!"

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-06-26 02:29 am (UTC)(link)
There was a frustrated growl before Vyers responded. "Neither do I, but I have no intention of staying like this. If you would trust me, then perhaps we might get out of this mess sooner rather than later."

Vyers's vision was hardly average (a fact the demon would be more than willing to attest to), and the moment he noticed movement, he leaped into the air. He barely cleared the top of the grass, but the paw passed beneath him easily enough.
overlords_wrath: (Ora)

[personal profile] overlords_wrath 2009-06-26 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
Laharl didn't get a chance to reply, as he also noticed the movement out of the corner of his eye. Like-wise, the Overlord would quickly boast having quite good sight too, although a bit hampered here in the dark, but with some keen senses and good reflexes, the paw swipe didn't give him much trouble either. Laharl leaped out of the way of the swiping paw and landing he quickly sprung in the opposite direction of Vyers.

There was two of them and one cat. It couldn't attack them both at once, so keeping back from each other would be a wise strategy.

Lifting his fist, Laharl quickly started gathering power.

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-06-27 06:27 am (UTC)(link)
Vyers charged forward as the cat lowered itself to pounce, seeing an opportunity to make a strike of his own. He nearly fell as the creature suddenly disappeared stumbling and throwing his arms out beside him in order to attempt to regain his balance. What in the world had just...?! He could have sworn the cat had just been in front of him.

It had, hadn't it? ...This was no ordinary cat.

He quickly noticed where the cat had reappeared and Vyers immediately started forward. "Behind you!"
overlords_wrath: (Game Over/Pwn'd/Epic Fail etc.)

[personal profile] overlords_wrath 2009-06-27 06:45 am (UTC)(link)
As the cat leaped, he threw a blast of energy towards the cat, but stopped surprised as his attack hit nothing, the energy harmlessly disappating far into the sky.

As Vyers shouted, Laharl's senses quickly picked up on someone behind him. He started to turn, but he wasn't fast enough. He gasped as he was pinned to the ground. Damn, this cat was fast! It was no normal cat, that was for sure! What the hell was this thing?

A bit winded, it took the Overlord a moment to recover, but he was soon squirming and putting upward pressure on the paw that pinned him. If he could just at least turn over, he'd have a clear shot then. At least that was the plan.

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-06-27 07:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The warning had come too late. Vyers started forward as the cat's paw came down on Laharl, hesitating only a moment to see if Laharl would be able to free himself. Then the other paw came down on the boy and he moved off to the side, rushing at the cat's side and slamming into it. Whether it would work or not with his small size, he didn't know, but he had no plans to allow this cat to eat either of them.
overlords_wrath: (Grrrr twitch)

[personal profile] overlords_wrath 2009-06-27 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Just when he thought he was getting a footing, a second foot came down on his back, pushing Laharl back down into the dirt. Growling in frustration, he started gathering power again hoping he'd find a chance to attack. If he could just get off his stomach.

"G-GET OFF ME!" he cried, shoving up on the paws again, unsure of where his Old Man was at this point.
