It's not over [Open, Active]
Character(s): Kid, anyone nearby
Content: Kid's arrival in Paixao
Setting: Joutenheim gate
Time: Early afternoon
Warnings: None, yet.
Kid sat up dizzily and shook her head. Was being stabbed all a... wait. This place seemed too full of light to be one of her dreams (and her wound was gone as though it could never been and Kid always felt the pain of her wounds when dreaming, always); was she dead?! If she was, damned if Kid would cross those pearly gates without dragging the cause of her death with her! The blonde girl stood, brushing off her clothes and defiantly smarting up her hair a bit, and she strode to the gate, where she addressed one of the guards, clearly irritated. "Oi!" she demanded, drawing herself up to her full, if average, height. "What th' hell d'you think yer doin'? M'not dead yet!" Was she?
The guard looked at Kid as though she were insane and shoved a strange electronic device in her hands, nervously greeting her before shoving the thief into the city. Kid sputtered angrily, about to turn around and give the guard a piece of her mind, when she stopped and looked around her.
Well, may as well look around before going to find Death. This place looked interesting, anyway.

Seated on one of the many benches by Joutenheim's great gates, he continued to fiddle with his journal till it grew silent. Confused, Dan could only imagine the journal had grown tired of their conversation, or simply refused to speak further with him. He would let it rest for now.
Tucking the rather peculiar device away for safe keeping, he quickly rose to his feet. He had completely lost track of time, which seemed to happen often, especially when the knight found himself distracted so easily. There was so much to do, and time was something he was unsure he had. He began walking, observing his surroundings as he passed them. All except those in front of him.
His eye only came to notice the young, blonde haired girl before him just as he was about to collide into her. Thankfully, his fast reflexes kicked in at just that moment, allowing him to leap back before coming in contact with her. It came close, but no harm was done. None yet, at any rate.
Relieved, but awfully embarrassed, he apologized immediately in an almost indistinguishable, muffled, voice. "Sorry!"
[ooc: 's all right if Dan jumps in?
And sorry about the double post]no subject
Then she realized that the tone of the creature's voice sounded apologetic. Choosing to gamble on that, but without sheathing her dagger, Kid nodded cautiously, taking a less offensive stance. "S'alright, mate," she said, tossing her head. "No harm done."
Hopefully, she was right and the thing didn't want to eat her.
[OOC: It's perfectly fine! ♥]

Completely oblivious to such thoughts as these, though, the skeleton gave a sigh of relief. However, he did notice the girls weapon still drawn -not that he blamed her, of course. Most of the living he had encountered, both in Paixao and Gallowmere, were left feeling uneasy when he found himself first in his presence.
"Are you from here?" He asked, deciding to keep his distance from the girl. If she understood his apology, perhaps she could understand more of what he could say? Or rather, try to say. His voice, unfortunately, remained distorted making his words none the less difficult to decipher. "I'm look for Zarok. Have you seen or heard of him?"
no subject
She had to strain to understand him, however, and so it took her w while to respond while she deciphered what he was trying to say. "No," she answered at last, "I'm from elsewhere." She hadn't noticed anyone else with her way of speaking walking around, either - not that this was unusual.
"Zarok?" Kid looked confused, and gave a careless shrug. "Never heard of 'im, mate."
no subject
Even if she truly was from another kingdom, the fact that Zarok's name was unknown to her was settling. The sky was still a brilliant blue, the statues surrounding them stood lifeless, and all the dead appeared to remain resting in their graves. That was all he needed to see to know that there were definitely no signs of the sorcerers handiwork here. Well, except for him. But he considered himself an exception in this case.
"That's great," he replied, pausing for only a moment in thought. "Thank you. Did you just arrive here too?" Perhaps they could help each other out.
no subject
The blonde girl tilted her head, taking a few moments to work out the other's speech. "Yer welcome, mate," she responded. "I just got in, too - thought I was dead." Then again, Kid realized, she still might be.
no subject
How could she ever confuse herself dead was a complete and utter mystery to Dan. She was certainly among the living, he was willing to bet at least ten pieces of gold on it. After spending such a great amount of time with the dead... Undead, rather. But still dead in a sense, he knew the difference well. She showed little sign of possession either, which left that possibility out as well. The knight could only stare at the girl blankly, baffled by such a belief. At least until worry began set in.
There wasn't some new type of dead he was unfamiliar with, was there? If so, how many other types was he unaware of?
no subject
But this did seem like a strange place, and Kid hadn't known how she had gotten here. Was she taken here by (and Kid's fists clenched at the thought of it) Lynx, somehow?
no subject
Straightening out, he tapped his skull thoughtfully. "Maybe someone cured you while you were out? Or maybe it was a dream?"
It was a shame Death was not here, he would easily know whether the young girl was dead or not. He never forgot a corpse, or the events that lead to their death. Dan hoped he would find him in the strange city, his advice was incredibly helpful.
"If I meet Death again I can ask him for you." The skeleton continued. "He would know if you were really dead."

Serge, the fortress, the way his eyes had changed -
Kid shook her head, mentally snapping herself away from such unpleasant thoughts. "Brilliant!" she replied, grinning, "thanks, mate!" She held out her hand to the other. "Me name's Kid. What's yours?"
no subject
None the less, her movement had unsuccessfully phased him. He only nodded along to her response, a soft and thoughtful hum escaping him. He wasn't very sure what to make of her situation. Her guess was as good as his at this point.
Once she had introduced herself, Dan was surprised to hear such a simple, yet fitting name. He knew he would have no difficulty remembering 'Kid'. It was amusing to think someone would actually name their child such a thing. But the more he thought about it, the more suited it appeared to be. It didn't sound that bad, actually, once one forgot of the words meaning. A surprising name indeed.
Bowing respectfully before taking the girls hand and shaking it, the animated corpse grinned. "Sir Daniel Fortesque. Nice to meet you."
no subject
Kid supposed that, given the circumstances, it would be best to walk about with her eyes and mind open. She was a thief, after all - it was always a good idea to wait until an optimistic moment arrived.
no subject
"Since Zarok's return it's become a dark and unfriendly place. I would not recommend you visit until he has been defeated." Now a days, zombies would likely entice ones curiosity and increase Gallowmere's tourism thanks to Zarok, but Dan knew nothing of this, and only a narrator could make such an ill humored observation.
"Where are you from?"
no subject
He shoved the journal and pamphlets into a pocket and went running over to investigate further. "Oh cool! That's freakin' sweet! Hey! Hey! Oneechan! Is this a Kugutsu no jutsu?!" he asked excitedly, giving the skeleton's armor an experimental poke.
[hai guys! wats goin' on over heer?!]
no subject
"Me?" Kid shrugged, acting nonchalant. "Doesn't really matter." The truth was, Kid didn't know where she was from; she had only been in Lucca's orphanage before, and whatever answers the woman might have given her, it didn't matter now. Lynx had, after all, murdered her, and Kids hands curled into fists at the very thought of it.
She blinked at the boy running up to them and raised an eyebrow. "I don't have the least idea of what the bloody hell you're on about, mate," she told him. And what in the world was an Onee-chan?
no subject
However, he could not observe the passing citizens for very long. His glance quickly turned downward to the boy, his eye focusing on him as he began to babble in some mysterious language. A few words he understood, but others left him completely clueless. From what he heard, the boy was so cold it was scaring him... And it was sweet?
The skeleton looked to Kid questioningly before he felt the boy poke at his armor. This caused him to once again cast his gaze down at the kid. But his eye held just as much curiosity as the pair that looked back up at him. He poked Obito's goggles in wonder.

"Oi, you!" she said, nodding to the kid. "What's yer name, mate? Ya don't look like yer from around 'ere." She flipped her hair out of her eyes in one quick motion. "S'not polite t'go around, buttin' into people's conversations." She said this with a wink, however; she didn't really mind.
no subject
There was little time to argue though, the boy had already thrown another question at him. This one, however, was one he could not answer. At least, not at the moment. It was true, he did lacked muscles, yet he could still move as easily as he did when he had been among the living. A thoughtful hum was heard as he contemplated how such movement could possible. To be honest, he had never thought of it.
Dan was startled by Obito when he grabbed his hand. He hadn't been expecting such a sudden move, though it didn't seem that surprising after the observing the boys wild excitement. It was proving to be difficult to keep up with him, especially when he spoke. The skeleton wasn't quite sure what a robot was, but he was rather certain he was not one.
The boy had made him realized one thing though; it was magic that allowed him to move without muscles.

"... Huh," she muttered quietly, her eyes distant. Other worlds wasn't exactly something Kid found foreign, of course, but the idea of several different worlds converging unsettled her for some reason. "S'not a dream, Uchiha," she replied, "because if it is, we're all havin' this crazy dream at the same time." The girl looked thoughtful for a moment. "Somethin's up - an' I doubt it's good." Didn't worlds change in such a way when something bad was going on?
"And me name's Kid, no need t'call me by any weird nicknames. This here," she continued, gesturing to Dan, "is Sir Daniel Fortesque - can we just call ya Dan?" She turned then, suddenly addressing the skeleton. "Yer name's a bit of a mouthful."
[OOC: As a note, Kid is referring to Obito as Uchiha because the surname goes last in her world. XD]
no subject
Giving a soft sigh, the corpse shook his head. So, it was Uchiha the boy called himself, was it? Unfortunately it was a little more difficult then 'Kid', but Dan would try his best to remember. His belief of Paixao being a dream, however, was one he remained doubtful of. He suspected other forces at play... If it were truly dream, though, that would be extraordinarily nice. There was no arguing about that.
Ah, it seemed as though they had returned to exactly where they had started. Folding his arms as Uchiha excitedly began to question his abilities, he glanced over at Kid. Daniel was nothing compared to the speaker he used to be, not since death. When it was difficult for one to speak, it grew easier to simply listen.
None the less, he trusted Kid to help translate his words if Obito proved to have a difficult time deciphering them. His voice was nothing more than a muffled mumble these days, something that made him even question what he had said when hearing his voice at times.
"Dan is alright." he replied with a nod. His full title was unneeded when it came to addressing him in a simple casual conversation. Dan was a pleasant change from the many things he had been called lately anyway. Most had be quite offensive, mocking his position as the deceased, but he tried to think little of them.
"I can talk... Sort of. I am a real man and not a puppet. A spell was put on me by an evil sorcerer that brought me back from the dead. I guess that makes magic is behind everything."
[ooc: Sorry about the hiatus]
no subject
Kid's request struck Obito as rather ironic seeing as her name itself sounded like a 'weird nickname', but he shrugged that off and grinned up at her. "You can call me Obito!" he offered cheerfully, he'd never been one for formalities.
As for Sir Daniel, Obito didn't have the slightest clue what he'd just said. Maybe it was a different language... Or maybe it was just because he didn't seem to have a jaw-bone... It would probably be rude to ask, so Obito attempted simply changing the subject and hoping that the skeleton-man hadn't said something he was meant to respond to.
"Hey! Did they give you guys one of these things?" he asked, pulling his journal out of his pocket and waving it around. "These are so cool! I don't really know how it works yet, but I was looking at it and there's all kinds of stuff in there! And you can talk to people on it and stuff! Have you guys ever seen things like this before? I haven't, except in comics and stuff."
no subject
The girl looked at the journal Obito was holding, and nodded, pulling out her own journal from the pouch she had tied to her hip. "I've never seen 'em in me own world," Kid replied, tugging slightly at her braid in thought, "but I've seen just about everyone in this weird place with 'em." She'd toyed with her journal a couple of times, talking through it to other people and looking at the information the device had to offer.
Kid crossed her arms, looking around her at the staring passerby. "Y'know," she mused to her companions, "maybe we oughta get t'somewhere else. S'not exactly a good idea t'stand around when we're all so different-looking from ev'ryone else." Then again, they had already been standing out here, talking for who-knows-how-long.
no subject
Speaking of the boy, Dan was left completely oblivious to his clever tactic when changing the subject due to his misunderstanding. He revealed his journal shortly after Kid when Obito had mentioned it. It seemed everyone did receive one of the mysteriously enchanted devices. How curious. He nodded in agreement with the girl, having never seen such a peculiar thing in his own wold either. He had held up a few conversation himself through the devices, but only by accident.
Putting the journal away once again, he followed Kid's gaze to one of the passing citizens. Yes, perhaps it was a good idea to get moving. Although, he had a very strong feeling he was the real reason people were staring. A walking skeleton was fairly unusual sight, there was no question about that. And though the others did appear to dress a little differently, they at least had flesh.
He nodded in agreement with the girl once again, feeling particularly guilty for the looks they were receiving. Perhaps they would be better without him...
no subject
"Hey, hey guys," he said, finally looking up towards the people he was actually with, "I'm going to go meet this guy, 'cuz I think he's gonna tell me something important." He closed up his journal, grinning up at the two brightly. "I'll catch you around! And we can probably talk on the journals too!" He turned, waving cheerfully. "See you later!" He trained chakra to his feet and jumped to the top of a smallish building and from there to a larger one, traveling by means of rooftop to his destination.
no subject
Of course, Kid drew attention herself, with the way she was dressed and her habit for stealing, and she laughed. "There's got to be a place where folks like us can rest our 'eads at the end of th' day."
no subject
He looked down at Kid curiously upon hearing her question. Where did he want to go? Were they sticking together? It certainly sounded like it after she added a remark about finding a place for them to rest. ...What on earth was a bloke?
Sharing a large smile, he nodded. Perhaps he could find a few articles of clothing to throw over his exposed bones? Or, more preferably, upgrade his armor? A helmet would likely be useful too. And if there was a blacksmith he could sharpen his weapons as well. The only problem was the expense of all this. Dan only had so much gold on him.
"Would you like to look for somewhere to stay first?" he asked, well aware of how important it was to find one for the girl. The skeleton needed very little rest, being dead and all, but knew the girl could not go on without it. She was his first concern.
no subject
The fact that Kid was a thief, of course, lent gravity to her thoughts - and Daniel being a moving skeleton was obviously drawing attention, too. THey had to find a place where they hopefully wouldn't draw even more attention.
no subject
The only problem was that he didn't know anywhere that fit such a description, let alone where anything else was in this city. Maybe Kid knew of a place, it never hurt to ask.
"Where would we find somewhere like that?"
no subject
She was a thief, after all, first and foremost, and stealing was what she did best.
"Who knows, mate?" Kid shrugged, toying with her braid. "Still, we oughta find a place easy enough if we look in our devices here." WIth that, she indicated her journal, flipping it open to look.
no subject
He could have sworn he had seen some sort of pamphlets when entering the gate. Though he hadn't taken any himself, it seemed like an appropriate time to grab a few. Without a word, he dashed back to the gate to where he had last seen them, more then pleased to find all were well stocked.
Pacing himself, Dan read over each pamphlets content before adding it to a soon steadily growing collection. He was sure to take two of each, that way both he and Kid would have one.
Returning to the girl, his thin bony arms were found baring more than enough pamphlets to be the product of at least one tree.
"I found a map!" he exclaimed excitedly before realizing his arms were far to full to retrieve the desired piece of parchment.
no subject
"This place is pretty huge," she murmured. Not, of course, that she hadn't noticed it before; the domed city was gigantic, at least to Kid. "Well, mate," she addressed Dan again, looking up at him, "where d'ya think t'go?"
Meaning, of course, where he thought he would draw the least amount of attention - he was getting strange looks, even now.
no subject
"I think I might look for a blacksmith." the skeleton replied after a moment of thought. "They might have somewhere to purchase new armor too. I could use a helmet and a new chest plate."
He pointed to his exposed skull and ribs as he spoke. If he could hide the fact that he was dead, perhaps it would help draw attention away from them. But he would drop Kid off somewhere first before running out to perform such tasks.
Observing the map, he pointed to the nearest chain of hotels; Actua Are. "To fancy?"
no subject
She looked over at the hotel. "I'd prefer somethin' a little more low-layin'," she shrugged, "but don't worry. I'll find a place meself. YA oughta worry about where yer goin', 'specially if yer goin' alone."
no subject
"I'll be okay." he assured her, bent down and rummaging through the pamphlets he had dropped when he had pointed lifted his hand to point at his scull prior. For a moment, he had forgotten he had the pieces of parchment in his possession. "I have another map."
Finding his desired pamphlet, he carefully stacked the others in a pile and offered them to Kid as he raised himself back onto his feet. He didn't like the idea of leaving Kid alone, but the sooner he found something to hide his bones, the better it would be for both of them.
"What about one of the inns up north?"
no subject
"I think I'll have meself a look around, get t'know this place. It might be fun."
no subject
He would contact Kid over the journal system to meet with her shortly after he was finished.
