Falling Sky [active/open]

Content: The domes are falling!
Setting: Entirety of Paixao
Time: Week 42
Warnings: Probably violence and injury.
Note: This will be multi-thread style. Feel free to toss your characters wherever they may be!

There was a loud bang and suddenly the painted skies of Paixao began to crack. Angels and clouds separated from the mural they had once been apart of and began to fell to the earth, crushing anyone and anything they managed to land on.

They were the first, but they certainly weren't the last.

At first the pile of stone and plaster remained still. Slowly, it shifted, a green light shining from between the chunks of debris. More stone shifted and Urd was revealed, holding up a bubble of light to shield the townsfolk that huddled beneath her. She looked a little banged up, but the expression on her face spoke of something more. Under the pile of rocks and chunks of dome, broken limbs and glimpses of bodies could be seen.

She turned to stare at Emizel, the light fading. Immediately the townsfolk that were still alive fled from the pile of destruction, but Urd remained where she was. Her hair stirred from the breeze of chaos around them, she gave him a small, sad smile.

"I failed."

There was a sort of relieved sigh, though short lived as he had to dodge scrambling residents again. It wasn't until after the coast was clear that he continued to climb over the debris and grabbed for one of Urd's arms, carefully tugging.

"There isn't time for that, we need to--" Emizel's voiced cut off with a squeak like yelp as yet another chunk of sky fell just an inch beside him, miraculous that it managed to miss. Perhaps it would be safer to stay here, after all, when the hole in the ceiling got bigger there will be fewer things falling from it.

"Ah-!" That snapped her out of it. Gritting her teeth, she snatched Emizel's hand and tossed him effortlessly into the sky before launching up after him. Just as gravity made him fall, he was caught by Urd's angel. The black and white being smiled reassuringly down at him as she followed Urd through the sky. Dodging and weaving through the obstacles that still fell through the sky, Urd shot fireballs out to try and knock the falling stone away from those still fleeing.

They landed at one of the gates. "Get out of the city and watch your back, kid." Urd stood, hands clenched at her sides as she looked up at the cracking, breaking domes. "I need to go back."

Being tossed up was a little distorting, as well a bit scary given the sudden lack of mobility and with pieces still raining on them. Getting airlifted out of the mess was very convenient, however..

"You're not seriously going back in. Are you insane?"

She paused and then smiled. It was the first real, heartfelt smile she'd had since Genie left. She bent down and patted his hair gently. "...thanks for worrying about me. But I have to go back. It's the right thing to do." Urd straightened and backed away, glancing up at her angel in some sort of silent understanding before looking back down at Emizel.

"What good is strength and power if you keep it all to yourself?"

"But what good are you to anyone if you die!?" It was obvious how well the first try went, and it's possible if she kept going that something else might...

"I won't die," she said simply. "It'll be okay. Trust me." Then Urd lifted up into the sky, World of Elegance hovering behind her. "I'm a goddess, remember? It's my duty to protect others."

She leaned forward in the sky to hug the boy for a moment, then withdrew. "Be safe, Emi. I don't like when my friends get hurt."

"But--" Emizel didn't finish after the hug, had to fight the urge to scowl at the embarrassing nickname too. More so by that she just called him... a friend? She really thought they were friends?

"... If you say so," he stepped away not long after Urd let go, then viewed behind to see that the gate was completely vacant, save for some smart civilians using it as an exit too. Either the guards were the first to bail, or they actually were doing something useful for once. "Just don't do anything stupid."

Although doesn't rushing back in a collapsing city already count for that? Urd had better known what she was doing, Emizel couldn't afford loosing the only other thing he had left.
