Hungry Like A Wolf [Completed]
Character(s): Wolf and Timon
Content: Wolf treats Timon to dinner.
Setting: Haja o Que Houver
Time: Afternoon
Warnings: None yet.
Timon hated taking the train. It was always so loud and crowded. Not to mention the fact that you never knew who you’d be sitting with – or would try sitting on you. After giving a citizen who had tried to take his seat the surprise of his life, he made note to shout at every citizen who neared his seat, mistaking it for available. For a majority of the ride the citizen beside him had ignored him, going so far as to avoid eye contact completely and look out the window. However, once a little girl had taken the seat in front of him and turned around to look at him, he could have sworn he had heard the man laugh while he and the young girl made silly faces at one another to pass the time. At least until the young girl’s mother forced her to sit properly in her seat and behave.
Only once Timon had gotten off the train had he begun to feel nervous. He had never met Wolf in person before, only spoken with him over the journals. And though they had spoken quite a bit, he was not completely sure whether or not he could trust the man – er, wolf. Or, whatever he was. He was still a carnivore and a rather flakey one at that. Sure, Wolf had said he was trying to turn a good leaf but at times it sounded as though he was weak, tempted into giving into his urges. Timon looked around from the bench he had climbed onto for any sign of the man. Would he be able to control himself? He folded his arms across chest, though took hold of both his arms and rubbed them nervously. Timon wished he had brought Pumbaa with him, but knew it could not have possibly ended well.
He hated being alone like this, out in the open. It gave him a bad feeling in his gut – though he suspected it could be his hunger as well. “Geez, he sure is takin’ his time.” The meerkat muttered to himself. Hopefully he would not find himself regretting this.,

Thinking back about the some of their conversations they had on the journals, they did have one conflict that always seemed to come up... Scar. Just what was it about that lion? Who was it that was right, Scar or Timon? Puzzled, Wolf knew he had to find out for himself, and try to figure out if Scar really is a villain.
While Wolf pondered, he noticed he was getting near to the train stop. The Haja o Que Houver wasn’t too far from Wolf’s apartment, so it wasn’t so bad for him to walk toward the train stop near the place. Once he arrived at the stop, he looked around, Wolf found it hard to find Timon in the crowd of people. He squinted to see if he could find the guy. Wolf wasn’t sure what the meerkat smelt like, but he knew it wouldn’t be a human scent. He sniffed around then spotted Timon who was on one of the benches, happily he waved as strolled over to his little buddy, “Hi Timon! Pleasure to finally meet you outside the journals! How you doing?”
no subject
“Hi!” Timon quickly replied, doing his best to hide his nervousness. “Uh, yeah. I’m fine. Hungry… Or sick. But probably hungry.” He drummed his paws against his stomach and looked up, way up, at Wolf. “You know, you're a lot taller in person.” And his smell… He had such a bizarre combination. Not quite like the hyenas, but… no, it was faint. But there was something moderately familiar among the foreign mix. Though, Timon certainly had no room to talk about odd combinations.

Wolf smirked, “Grrrf, good thing we’re gettin’ food then.” He kneeled down a bit to get better look at Timon, man he really is short, looks like he’ll be looking down a lot at this guy. Unless he like picks him up, but he has a feeling Timon might freak out, just a bit. Wolf chuckled, “Comes with being part human I guess. So does that mean I might have to slow down for you? Y’know, since I got longer legs.”
no subject
“You just worry about keeping up.” The meerkat replied, not bothering so much as to look back at the Wolf as he led the way. “I’m travelling on an empty stomach. I don’t want to have to slow down and wait for you. Speaking of which, have you ever been to this place before, Haja’s?”
no subject
Once asking about the place, Wolf nodded, “Oh Haja o Que Houver is a great place to eat when you’re hungry,” grinning he started to remember some of the food he ate there, “They have some delicious rare meat, of course that’s mostly what I ate while I was there. I can’t recall if I ate anything else besides that.”
Thinking for a minute or so, Wolf did managed to think of something beside the food as he snapped his finger at the thought, “Oh! The music they played there was pretty good too!” he recalled, remembering some of the lively music and activity they had there.

Looking down at Timon, giving half of a smile, Wolf spoke, “Well no, I actually live in the Iriela Apartments.” He nodded his head toward the direction of where that building was. He gave a shrug, “It’s not that far from here though, so I don’t mind the walk.”
Wondering for a bit, Wolf spoke again, “So where do you live now?”
no subject
“I think I used to live in Iriela too.” The meerkat continued, having remembered Wolf’s mention if his current residents, Iriela Apartments. Then again, Timon had probably been to just about everywhere in the city. At least, it would not have been surprising considering the amount of time he had spent there, especially compared to others. “I’ve stay in a lot of places. That’s the one run by gypsies or somethin’, right? How are they? They don’t keep you up all night, do they?”
no subject
“Don’t worry I understand, my friends and I used to be a target back in my world,” Wolf noted, remembering the many times they were being either chased after, or hunted. Luckily none of those guys were here, though he wouldn’t mind if Virginia was here with him, but that’s a different story entirely.
Wolf recalled the apartment that him and Remus lived in. He gave a smile and a nod, “Yup, so far so good. Nah, no one has kept us up yet, but I’m a pretty heavy sleeper myself.” Though if someone ever forced Wolf up, they are sure to get a cranky growl in return for it. He gestured to Timon, with a bit of chuckle, “Anyone kept you up all night yet?”

These Nobodies no doubt smelt of Darkness, a scent he had easily come to recognize during his time here, but what did he smell like? He must have carried the scent of both lion and warthog, having spent so much time around them. But… What if he smelt of Darkness as well? He had spent just as much time with Roxas and Naminé as he did Simba and Pumbaa until recently. Had he somehow picked up their scents as well? Timon had never thought about it before. The exposure he had had to both Light and Darkness, were they distinguishable to the knowing nose? His once quick pace began to slow to a walk until he stopped all together.
“Before we get to Haja o Que Houver I gotta ask you a few things.”

Yet again, Wolf met a good number of kids while he was here now that he thought about it. Hm, must a coincidence. At least he knows they can take care of themselves. Though Wolf was a bit worried about Alice and Osaka sometimes, those two seem to get into trouble quite easily.
Glancing down at the meerkat, Wolf started to notice his friend was in deep thought over something. He blinked, wondering what was on his mind. So naturally when Timon asked Wolf if he could ask him a couple of questions, he shifted his feet slowly with Timon to a full stop. He kneeled down to get better look at him, “Sure, what do you need to know?”
no subject
“Ah, right.” He replied, trying to recall what it had been he meant to ask. “What I wanted to know- er, what I was wondering is… Those creatures, the ‘Heartless’ you thought you summoned, do you remember what they smelt like? Was there any particular scent you noticed, anything you can recall?” A new idea came to mind at that thought. “Do you remember what Scar smelt like?” Maybe there was some sort of connection. It was crazy, but who knew? Scar was equally as full of surprises as Timon these days.
no subject
Within his deep concentration, Wolf spoke to Timon, “I wasn’t able to pick up distinct scent at the time… The heartless were nothing I could ever detect before, it was almost as if nothing was there but… it was almost like ashes.” Wolf started to remember the time the heartless disguised itself as Virginia too, and how it didn’t smell anything like her, but that of almost nothing. His eyes frustrated into the ground, almost in pain of remembering these things, but he couldn’t help that these memories were almost too frightening for words.
“All I could smell was Zidane in pain and… I was so distracted, by the time I smelt Scar’s presence, he already was there behind me to tell me that he saw the whole thing and-” Wolf winced as he closed his eyes, no no, concentrate! This is no time to get emotional, he already did enough of that, and he doesn’t need anyone else to worry about him. Wolf opened his eyes again trying to remember, “I’m pretty sure Scar’s scent was much different, but I was rather distracted at the time, so it might be too early to tell.”
no subject
“Heartless have a habit of appearing whenever Scar is around.” Timon said once Wolf had finished. “This ain’t the first time something like this has happened. I bet he’s behind all this somehow. I don’t really know how... But there’s gotta be something. I’ve only seen him around the Heartless once but he looked pretty calm.” It could have just been coincidence but he Timon was too stubborn to admit such a thing. Scar was guilty in his books, regardless if he had evidence to prove it or not. “I wonder if they’re attracted to him for some reason… And if he smells like that Darkness stuff at all.” The meerkat wondered if he did as well but had Wolf recognized the scent, or what he thought was the scent, surely he would have said something by now.
“Last they appeared with him around was when he was with Alice. She doesn’t seem like the type to summon ‘em – though she does like to look for the trouble.” The meerkat sighed. “Kids. Oi!”
no subject
“If the heartless seek out the darkness in people’s hearts, then Scar would want others die before him,” Wolf spoke collecting his thoughts on this, “If he had a hunter’s intent, then it would be easy for him to summon the heartless on anyone he wanted to kill.” He appeared to be calm when talking about this, but really his mind was racing. Wolf did wanted to harm Zidane at the time, and he had no idea what Scar’s true intent was. This was all on guess after all, and it would be a very serious accusation to make about Scar.
“I wouldn’t jump out on a limb and say it was him yet though, we barely have any evidence,” Wolf said to Timon, if anything it would ultimately backfire on him, since he was upset with Zidane during that particular incident.
When Timon talked about Alice, he blinked at him, tilting his eyebrow upward. “Alice? No way, she’s harmless, if anything she’s one of the sweetest girls I’ve ever met,” Wolf said as if it was a fact. Yet again, Alice had been nothing but nicest girl around him, it would surprise him greatly if she would even try to hit someone. Wolf chuckled, “Though I gotta admit, she does have a knack for trouble like most kids, I’ll try to keep a better eye on her if I can.”
no subject
“He’s got her thinkin’ he’s her friend. It makes me mad seein’ that slimy snake take that kid for a sap.” He clenched his fists and shook one at Wolf in frustration. “She’s got herself in enough trouble as it is. She doesn’t need to go looking for more.” Timon gave a sigh. “I’ve been tryin’ to keep an eye on her myself, following her around to make sure she stays outta trouble. But that kid is quick! I had a hard enough time keeping up with her when she was with Scar. If you end up keepin’ an eye on the kid, you’ll let me know if something comes up… Right?”
no subject
Wolf narrowed his eyes, if he’s been had, then this would be no different than the Queen, she was deceitful and played tricks on his mind. God forbid it if Scar were to play his mind like violin during the full moon. He muttered in a sorta growl, “It wouldn’t be the first time someone has tried to trick me…”
Looking down at Timon, Wolf knew one thing was for certain. If Alice was associating with Scar, then he definitely needed to keep an eye on her. Wolf didn’t want anything to happen to poor girl, she didn’t do anything wrong and was completely innocent. “I will make sure she won’t go out by herself from now on then,” Wolf glanced to the side, “I don’t want anything to happen to her either… Don’t worry Timon, you have my word, I’ll let you know if anything happens again and I promise to protect her.”
no subject
Timon glanced back up at Wolf at the mention of Alice, a small smile across his lips. It was good to know someone else was looking out for her, especially when they had a greater chance of defending her than he did. “Good to know. And don’t think I won’t hold you to that promise, bub! I’d hate to see anything happen to that kid.” He brought both paws to his hips, continuing to look up at Wolf. “Glad we can agree on that. And I’m hoping we can agree on eating this lunch! I’m starved!”
The sooner they got to the restaurant, the sooner Timon could eat. Well, he'd have an easier time smelling Wolf for any traces of Darkness too among all the citizens in there too, but food was what was most important to him. He was already sure Wolf had not summoned the Heartless, Darkness or not.
no subject
Although, once the magic word ‘food’ was said, Wolf immediately got back up to his feet. After all, delicious, tender, moist lunch sounded wonderful right now! He grinned as followed Timon to the restaurant, “Awwwoooo! You said it! I’m so hungry I can eat a dragon!”
It was a figure of speech, though if Wolf could do it, he probably would. If the dragon was delicious, and not dangerous enough to catch that is. Though it didn’t seem to bother him to think that he could try at least.

Once they arrived at the Haja o Que Houver, Timon immediately directed them to a booth in a far corner of the restaurant. A little privacy went a long way, especially when so many unwanted ears could be listening. Without having to do so much as lean from his side of the table, Timon was easily capable of picking up the entirety of Wolf’s scent. When the oddly identical scent shared between citizens, Wolf’s was far easier to determine inside the restaurant then outside where there was a more persistent mix of visitor’s scents. The meerkat kept his menu held up in front of him, pretending to browse through the selection.
“I didn’t pick up any traces of Darkness on you.” He spoke up, though kept his voice low enough for only Wolf to hear. “Maybe a few weird scents, but nothing too short from the ordinary - at least, not enough to tip the Heartless your way over anyone else’s. Usually the guys who can summon those things reek of Darkness. You reek, but only because you need a bath.”
no subject
Wolf actually did notice Timon smelling him, but didn’t give it a second thought, mostly because he was preoccupied by the choices of meat. Though once Timon told Wolf didn’t have any traces of darkness on him, he tilted his head to the side a bit. Can the meerkat truly tell whether he does or not? This made Wolf curious, if not wondering how many times Timon encountered himself with anyone who had the power of darkness within them. It was a relief to hear that Timon thought that Wolf doesn’t though.
At the comment of taking a bath, Wolf decided to sniff himself, and gave a thought or two about it. He didn’t smell too bad he thought, but maybe he could use one. “Grrf, I haven’t had to impress anyone lately, so I guess I didn’t think of that…” Wolf spoke, mostly to himself about having good hygiene at the moment.
Though directing back to the conversation about the darkness Wolf decided to press on this, pretending to be looking at the menu too, scratching his chin in thought. “You really think so though? I mean I don’t know anyone else who could summon heartless myself, so I wouldn’t be able to tell-” this struck something in Wolf’s mind immediately, he hadn’t thought about Scar’s scent more directly, but this was starting to make more sense now. Glancing upward, he lowered the menu, at this thought. His voice was low, almost in a whisper as he spoke to Timon, “If we are suspecting Scar behind this, it would explain… Why he knows about them… How they could be summoned.”
no subject
Forcing these thoughts aside, he tried to focus on what Wolf was saying. He noticed his train of thought wandering while he spoke, slowly teetering to something Timon had hoped he would not have put together. Had Wolf realized that the only way he was familiar with Darkness was by him being around it himself? He cringed at the thought, pondering whether or not Wolf would change his opinion of him. Maybe this was just the sort of proof he needed to know he was the ‘bad guy’ opposed to Scar. He nervously brought his paw to his mouth and began to chew his nails, the silence shared between them lasting what felt like forever. Was Wolf just toying with him? Had he joined in alliance with Scar? Was this all a trap?!
Timon ever so cautiously peeked around his menu at Wolf, surprised to find him looking directly at him. And then he spoke. And, honestly, said the last thing the meerkat expected to hear; Wolf agree with him. A wave of relief fell over Timon, enough to almost have him topple over. However, he did his best to remain composed, lowering his own menu while he looked at Wolf. He had never really suspected Scar to ‘summon’ Heartless at will, but now that he thought about it, it made sense. How else would he learn so much about them? Who in their right mind would share such information with such an obvious threat? Timon rubbed his chin, thinking carefully before he replied.
“Are you familiar with the villain types livin’ upstairs - by which I mean in City Hall. A group unconnected to the Organization took the place over some time ago, that’s why it’s surrounded in all those thorns. They don’t want anyone to get inside. I tried to crawl through it before, but the roots are too deep and grew so tightly together I can’t squeeze through. They’ve been awfully quiet lately… The group up in City Hall, mind you, not the roots. I haven’t seen ‘em for some time. But from what I remember, they were able to control the Heartless. At one point they cast the entire city into Darkness and had Heartless crawlin’ all over the place.”
no subject
These thoughts stayed in Wolf’s mind as he concentrated on his meerkat friend when he talked about City Hall. Wolf has walked passed it a couple of times, noticing the vines that covered it and that it just screamed bad luck territory. Out of pure instinct he stayed clear from it, knowing that it most likely harbored some kind of bad force. Wolf may be adventurous, but he knew better than to go into a place looks like someone still owned it and may kill you the second you walk in.
Wolf leaned over a bit putting his chin against his knuckles in interest to Timon what was discussing with him, “I haven’t heard much about it other than it was a bad place to go to,” he quirked an eyebrow as he listened. He wondered what type of people was there, and if possible anyone was as bad as the Evil Queen.
“Villains are there hm? Well huff puff, isn’t that a shocker,” he scoffed with sarcasm, but he was taking this seriously, “I’ve been reading some of the things people have been talking about on the Organization on the journals. All that I have learned is that they delight in toying with others.” Honestly that was as far he knew about them, from what he could tell, it was hard for him to distinguish who was part of it.
Wolf scratched the back of his neck with a huff, it seems like he has a lot more villains here then he thought. He made a small growl in anticipation, “If they have summoned the heartless before, then Scar must have learned it from them. That is rather suspicious if he was able to get information from people like that. Do you know all who is in that group of villains?”
no subject
“But why would they teach him? Just so he could use them against us?” he ran a paw through his hair and gave an irritated sigh. “What do they even see in that jerk?” Another huff escaped him. “The more I look into this guy the worse he gets.” The meerkat buried his face in his hands, a groan given as he began to pace across the table. “These guys are serious trouble and just like the Organization, supposed to be D.E.D.” He paused for a moment, questioning his spelling, but quickly waved the thought aside. “Maleficent, this ugly ‘ol witch is their leader. Apparently she’s some ‘Mistress of all Evil’ or somethin’. She smelt almost entirely of Darkness. Whether or not she’s still here or not, I couldn’t tell you. I ain’t heard anything from her, Jafar, or Hades for awhile now – those are the other two that were with her; Jafar and Hades. As for those other guys in coats, I can tell you all ‘bout them. They’ve been here just as long as I have.”
no subject
“Grrrf, Looks like we’re dealing with some nasty stuff here,” Wolf said, which even he considered to be an understatement. He glanced from side to side. Making sure no one was listening in on them, “What have they done in the past, besides summon heartless? Maybe we can figure out what they’re trying to do and what their motivation is from it.”
no subject
He turned his glance away from Wolf and to the salt and pepper shakers resting on the table. If only he could somehow get back inside City Hall, listen in on her planning, and snoop through the cities records. Well, at least try to. One could only get so far when it came to such a task and could not read.
no subject
It seems Wolf may need to think about penetrating some vines by using some tricks up his own sleeve. Back in the 9 Kingdoms, he already was starting to plan a deceit by making the Evil Queen think he was on her side. When really, he was going to try and save Virginia from her.
While Wolf was in thought, his voice again was low, “Timon… If Scar thinks I trust him… This might give me a chance to find out if he’s with Maleficent or not,” he said, at least he knows that he wants to try to attempt this. This will at least confirm their belief of what Scar was trying to do, possibly an answer to their bigger question of why he wants to. Wolf knew he needed to try to talk to Scar again, that or find out some other way.
no subject
“I think you should stay away from Scar.” The meerkat said regrettably. “We can find out another way. He's too dangerous.”
no subject
Wolf tilted his head to the side, “Besides, what other method do we have? I can’t think up of anything else.” It was true, though maybe if they were to collaborate together they could come up with something. It would take a lot of thought and planning though, that’s for sure.
no subject
“No, I’m not dragging you into this.” He said firmly. “I’ll… I’ll figure something out. Just keep away from Scar. He’s more trouble than he’s worth. Somethin’ like this isn’t worth the risk of you or anyone else getting hurt.” Timon would argue all afternoon with Wolf if he had to.
no subject
“Awwoo, I don’t mind getting dragged into trouble,” Wolf stated, “It happens to me all the time, usually by accident, but that’s not the point.” He leaned in a bit, his face now changing into a somewhat serious expression as he looked at Timon.
“My point is, you don’t have to do this by yourself, you know I’m here if you ever need any help,” Wolf’s eyes stayed on Timon in determination, he didn’t want anything to happen to his friend after all. And it did worry Wolf in case something was to go wrong on Timon’s end and he wasn’t there to help.
no subject
Wolf’s hard stare made it difficult to look away, never mind refuse his help. Only once he lifted his menu and could block Wolf’s gaze was he was able to break from his spell and speak. “If I wanted your help I would have asked for it.” He said in a snotty tone. However, from behind the menu his expression had fallen, this feeling of guilt growing more evident in him. Wolf was only trying to help but the only way Timon could think to stop him was by pushing him away. Still…
The meerkat slowly peeked out from behind his menu, as though to check if Wolf were still there before he spoke again. His tone was far softer than before. “But, uh... Thanks.”
no subject
Wolf’s eyes lit up, the sudden reminder of that he’ll be getting food had already lightened up his mood, “Ah! I’ll have the big juicy red steak! Rare, very rare! And… Oh! A side order of those lovely mash potatoes you have and a tall glass of apple juice and…” Glancing over at Timon, he almost forgot about the meerkat, “Oh, what did do you want to get Timon?”
no subject
“Huh?” he peeked out again at Wolf, then the waitress. “Oh!” The meerkat dropped his menu and smiled at the waitress. “Cátia, long time no see! Bet you’ve missed me, huh?” Cátia likely did not but her manager surely enjoyed the money Timon had always made Vyers spend on him. He grinned at the waitress who presently wondered if there would be enough space at their table for both meals. Wolf was likely just as great an eater. “Hope you haven’t forgotten my favourite.”
