Not in the moon's eye [active]

Character(s): Saïx and NiGHTS
Content: In the dark of the city, something not entirely friendly stirs
Setting: Somewhere
Time: Who can tell, with all the darkness?
Warnings: Potential violence

Ever since the former lord of the castle had been disposed, Saïx had been all but itching for a good fight. A chance to do as he had been born to do. To fight, to hunt, to know the 'joy' that came from tearing down an enemy with his own hands, his own blade. But the fight had been given the Larxene. Fitting, yes, but discomfiting. He could only silence the rage for so long once it had been awoken so thoroughly to the prospect. But he had been forced to, once it had seemed that this fight was not to be his.

Another outlet would need to be found, lest it tear free of its own accord.

The sudden plunging of the city into darkness... well, he could hardly claim to have known it would come, but it was certainly not something he intended to go to waste. Darkness called to darkness. And it would be hard to see just who he was in the darkness. Besides, he didn't need his eyes. His other senses would serve well enough in a time such as this.

Which only served to spur him forward into the darkened streets, yellow eyes half-lidded and cruel as he stalked through the streets, looking for a promising option. He had his intentions. Now he needed just one thing more. Someone to serve as the other half of the equation.

NiGHTS grinned to herself, humming a little. "In that case," she giggled, whirling around to face Saïx, "show me what you've got!" There, that should do it, and the nightmaren flew quickly towards her opponent, intending on a feint. It looked like this darkness might not end up being so troublesome after all.

At the last moment, NiGHTS danced away from Saïx, spinning into a Paraloop attack around the other. If he didn't dodge, it would normally have hurt - and quite a bit at that - but right now, NiGHTS was just intent on buffeting him around and disorienting him a little. There was no need to bring out anything she'd normally use in a serious fight, after all.

Hm. NiGHTS saw the attack coming from a mile away. Was Saïx, perhaps, going easy on her? Maybe he wanted to see what she was made of - but she was planning on showing the other that, anyway, and she whirled and danced in midair, gearing up for another attack. Not that she needed to, of course, but that could be half the fun. It wasn't a good idea to show one's opponent everything one had all at once, anyway.

Well, this was odd. NiGHTS, for all her mischief and occasional harmless duplicity, preferred a fair fight, when it came right down to it. After all, could one say they truly won a challenge if their opponent was at a disadvantage? No, of course not. The other Nightmaren might scoff at NiGHTS' way of thinking and use everything they had at their disposal, but NiGHTS would fight her own way, whether others liked it or not. It wasn't as though their opinion of her mattered anyway.

So she lowered enough to give the other a fair shot at knocking her out of the air, and aimed again. There. That would make things easier for Saïx, even if NiGHTS didn't like being close to the ground if she could help it.

It would take a lot more than something like that to catch NiGHTS, and she whirled around again in a paraloop, attempting to catch Saïx in in. Was that all he had? NiGHTS doubted it, but she sighed, half-amused, nonetheless. What was the point of a challenge if there wasn't going to be any? "I know you can do better than that," she told the Nobody with a playful little pout. "Come on! Let's have some fun!"

That was much better. Maybe now, NiGHTS could show off a bit. She whirled towards Saïx, spinning around faster and faster in an attempt to confuse him with the trail of sparkles that flew from her gloved fingertips. "How nice of you," she responded, laughing lightly. It would probably be all too easy, NiGHTS thought, to take care of him should she try her best, but sometimes, holding back made it that much more fun in the end, whether she won or not.

NiGHTS was - barely - able to dodge the sword, her surprised laughter following. She was not afraid - she was rarely afraid. "This is more like it!" she laughed aloud, whizzing past Saïx, dangerously close in an attempt to catch him in a Paraloop. Without shapeshifting, NiGHTS had little advantage in this fight, she knew - but it was more fun this way, at least for now. She was no fighter, that much she knew, but she had cunning and trickery, should she wish to use it.

Right now, however, she was simply playing a game. Nothing more, nothing less.

This really wasn't going anywhere, was it? Oh, well. NiGHTS dodged again, having expected that this time, and... continued to whirl about, transforming into a ball and attempting to bounce off Saïx's head. Hey, that would hurt if it hit, and be funny besides. not only that, but bouncing about was faster than NiGHTS' normal speed of flying. And anyway, it wasn't as though she ever really took anything seriously - and when she did, trouble was sure to lurk close by.

Oh, come on. Saïx was annoyed at something like that? NiGHTS mentally rolled her eyes, not being able to actually do it at the moment, and giggled to herself. What fun was a game when the players took the same move over and over? Nevertheless, the nightmaren uncurled from her ball and attempted to whirl around Saïx, trying to use his distraction in order to catch him in a Paraloop.

And NiGHTS poked almost everyone, so to speak, mostly because she found it funny.

Where was NiGHTS at the moment? Currently attempting to Paraloop Saïx again. Bouncing about was all very well and good, but something told her - perhaps the way her opponent looked, as though he were slowly snapping, bit by bit. He was dangerous, that was for sure, and NiGHTS didn't particularly feel like that right now, so she backed off a bit to allow Saïx to regain control, watching him contemplatively.

NiGHTS rose into the air cautiously. Well, like it or not, the anger had taken over Saïx, and now she had to deal with it. Oh, well. Perhaps it could still be fun after all, although it would certainly be different than the kind of fun she normally partook in. Then again, this entire - was it night? Day? She supposed it didn't matter. Saïx had brought out, however temporarily, a darker side of her, and now she had to deal with his. It was only fair, she supposed.

NiGHTS was only just able to dodge the sword, large as it was, and whirled around in yet another attempt to strike Saïx with a Paraloop. She wasn't much of a fighter, no matter what form she took (at least normally; NiGHTS had the ability to turn into just about anything, should she wish it, and had spent the last several millennia exploring her abilities after leaving Wizeman's side), so she'd definitely have to play it carefully with an opponent that wasn't airborne. Oh, well, that was half the fun.

"Come on," she called, beckoning to Saïx.

NiGHTS grew confident as she saw Saïx stumble and flew in for another Paraloop. However, she hadn't expected that swing so soon, and she gave a strangled cry as his sword swept across her gut, reeling in midair as she attempted to retreat and regain her bearings. That hurt - it had been awhile since she'd actually run into someone who used a sword.

The creature gasped and shuddered, but managed to regain herself long enough to shift into a rocket (yes, really) and dashed towards Saïx in an attempt to knock him off balance. SHe did, of course, have something else in mind.
