Maybe he wanted to see what she was made of - but she was planning on showing the other that, anyway, and she whirled and danced in midair, gearing up for another attack. Not that she needed to, of course, but that could be half the fun. It wasn't a good idea to show one's opponent everything one had all at once, anyway.
