New Buisness Model, or Cunning Plot? You Decide! (Active, Very Open)
Character(s): Hanekoma, OPEN
Content: Hey, Hanekoma is handing out free portraits that may or may not be the key to adventure and freedom. You should stop by!
Setting: Wild Kat Coffee, Paixao Branch
Time: Few days after the discovery of what's behind the door in the chapel, all throughout the day.
Warnings: None!
Notes: See the Week Change for more details about this thread.
Hanekoma had to admit, the Doctor's plan certainly was a creative one, and as much as he was not normally the type to get too involved in local conflicts, this one had managed to catch his attention. The fact that it let him stretch his artistic muscles was also a real bonus.
Therefore, he had placed a sign in the window, promising free portraits for ever cup of coffee purchased. Hey, it helped clue people into a chance to exploring new parts of the world, let him get back into shape artistically, and sell some more coffee in the deal. It really was a win for everyone!

Looking for something to eat -or at least keep her energy up- she stopped by the coffee shop. Her eyes scanned the menu. She couldn't even determine what the menu was saying, nevermind deciding what to order.

Still, she had some sway over Reno. Perhaps he had friends of some use. She would make them hers, eventually. These things took time.
"You know, you should rrreally organize for delivery," was her comment as she entered and slid into a seat. "Then Paixao could enjoy your delicious coffee all the time without having to take a brreak in their work to swing by..."

Giving Naja a friendly wave he said, "You know, that's not a bad idea at all. Unfortunately I currently lack the services of a reliable delivery service, but if you could put me in touch with one, I'd be eternally grateful."
Leaning over the counter he asked, "So, what can I get you this fine day?"
no subject
She wondered if they even liked coffee.
"The usual would be a delight."
no subject
"You got it boss," he replied, already going through the motions of assembling the coffee with a causal ease that suggested he'd been making that particular blend for years.
Setting it down in front of her, he said, "There you go. So, how's your week been?"

At the mention of the Organization Hanekoma leaned forward with an intrigued expression and asked, "Organization you say? They make a habit of abducting people?"
no subject
And that in turn was just interesting enough to get her to head inside the shop. After all, she still had questions about the city that would need to be answered before anything could be done about the situation.

Her vibe was predominantly human, though the vibe of a human from a world he had never visited before. Still, there was an faint undercurrent to her, a somber tune that he'd come to associate with death. Not the death that people feared, an evil dark scary fate come to snatch them from the safety of their lives, but rather the death that was simply a part of the cycle of life, which all living creatures had to experience to move on to the next step in their journey.
Turning, Hanekoma smiled at the woman and said, "Well hello there boss, what can I get for you?"
no subject
Instead, she glanced at the list of things.
And then blinked and gave it a proper look. Apparently the oddities didn't stop with man behind the counter.
"I'm supposed to order the one on top," she commented, keeping her voice carefully neutral - more a sort of 'I see what you did there' then anything else.
no subject
"So, haven't seen you around before boss, what brings you my way?"
no subject
"Something out of the ordinary."
Perfect truth, even, although possibly not the way Mr. H had expected it.
no subject
"Well, I may have just what you're looking for boss," he continued, sliding Susan's coffee to her.
"Any particular kind of out of the ordinary?"
no subject
"The eye-catching kind."
Like that sign outside, or the fact that Hanekoma was anything but ordinary.
no subject
"Ah, you mean the offer outside? Just a little idea I had to draw in new customers. Would you be interested in one?"
While Hanekoma's expression never changed, something about the way he phrased the offer hinted it would be beneficial to accept.
no subject
But she hadn't missed the way Hanekoma had phrased his question either. One of those choices that really wasn't one. Fun.
"Yes," she answered, although the tone in her voice wasn't the most pleased. But if it would get her one step closer to what she was looking to find out, she'd accept the inconvenience.

With a "I'll be right back," over his shoulder, Hanekoma headed into the back room and came out after a moment with a paint and a small canvas. Setting it up, he mixed his paints and said, "Don't worry about holding still boss, capturing movement is a challenge I rather enjoy."
As Susan sipped her coffee, Hanekoma began to move his brush across the canvas. Even as he manipulated the paint, Hanekoma likewise manipulated the Vibe of the painting, altering it in such a way that it would resonate with Susan's vibe, encouraging her to check out the old church. It wasn't manipulation, and she could ignore it if she wished, but every time she looked at the painting she would be encouraged to go check it out until she did.
Finally he finished, and looking up with a easy grin he said, "It'll just take a second to dry boss, then it's all yours."
The painting itself was a rather beautiful one of Susan that managed to capture every movement she'd made since he started, blurring together into a mosaic.
no subject
"Susan," she corrected, almost on reflex. She'd never had a nickname before, and she certainly wasn't going to accept what he was offering in place of a perfectly good and functional name.
no subject
Once the portrait was dry he rested it on the counter and casually suggested, "There you are, why don't you have a look?"
no subject
As for the painting, well... it was certainly interesting. Both for the way it looked as well as the way it seemed to be suggesting something. But maybe she'd find something of use that way. After all, she had manged to find anything useful so far.
"It's not bad."
no subject
"So, and this is only if you don't mind me asking, where are you from?"
The longer Susan stared at the painting, the more the mystical threads of the painting seemed to bleed together, forming a picture of an abandoned church, and the portal within it, in the woman's mind. While the physical painting never changed, the image in her mind soon became as clear as day.

All the same, she didn't expect him to be familiar with her home. But the question did deserve an answer.
no subject
"Smells good, you've got straight black right? I'm not usually one for all the fancy mixes they have these days," Karrin said after approaching the counter.
no subject
"Of course boss," he replied in a easy tone, already moving to make the coffee, "I take it you're the sort that needs her coffee fast and strong?"
no subject
She glanced over her shoulder, "So, who's giving those portraits?" She wasn't sure why...but it stuck out to her.
no subject
"I'm a bit of a dabbler in the arts as a hobby."
no subject
"Really," well it made about as much sense as a wizard playing guitar so she wasn't going to press too much on it. She finally took a sip of the coffee and smirked, "Pretty good."
no subject
Extending his hand, he said, "Sanae Hanekoma, pleasure to meet you."
