So You Want to Meet A Wizard? [Complete]
Characters: Kit, whomever else wanders in.
Time: Around midday.
Setting: Vanaheim Gate.
Summary: Kit's just gotten through the gate, and is wandering about.
Warnings: None from Kit.
Kit looked around the place. The gate had been pretty impressive, and somehow it felt almost like wizardry. This place couldn't work on mere physics alone. The structures were impressive, but... He pushed through the crowd, and listened, with a wizard's ear. There was magic, but somehow... not the same. This confused him, but told him that he should probably keep a low profile for now. Nothing here felt like it was back home. And... he tried murmuring a few words to his electronic journal that he had gotten, but it didn't respond. Which was even more disturbing, since everything was supposed to know the Speech.
He hoped that maybe someone would come along and point him towards where he could go.

He'd conceded and fed on one of the native folk the night before. He felt less prone to vertigo and exhaustion, but it hadn't been enough, and he wanted more. It was getting exceedingly difficult watching these humanoids (in most cases, at least) walk past him without so much as glancing in his direction, especially when he was almost certain he could smell the blood in their veins.
As he watched them pass, one by one, more and more, always more, he grew distracted and finally realized he'd been daydreaming again. He looked stricken, hoping no one had noticed though why they would care... it was the propriety of things, he decided. And he had just gathered his wits enough to walk away when he spotted one of the humanoids looking very confused indeed. Usually Subaru (and his brother) stayed away from helping others. After Seishirou-san... he shook his head. It was still in his nature to help others, even now.
So he approached and offered a polite smile. "I hope I'm not out of line... but could you use some help?"

This place... it seemed to be entirely made up of domes. Big, spacey bubbles that both resembled human architecture... and something else entirely. "Where are we, anyway? I know that the people at the gate said something about 'Paixao'... but I'm not sure where that is or what that means."
no subject
"Well... this place is called Paixao, and I sadly do not know that much about it. Your plight is not original. So many of us are travelers from other worlds who have ended up here in one way or another." Subaru had gathered enough that his choice to change worlds was in fact one of the strangest cases. Most simply... appeared here.
"My name is Subaru." he introduced. "And if you would like, I can help you learn your way around. That's something I've managed to do since I arrived, is learn my way to various places." he said with a reassuring smile on his face.

"I suppose there are magicians here." Subaru wasn't sure, he hadn't come into contact with them yet, if there were. But he knew magic existed on most worlds, so surely here as well. "And I would guess this is a very different place from where you are from." Subaru had a passing thought for the home he'd left so very long ago, but didn't dwell. He could never return, not while the vampire hunter lived.
"Where are you from, by the way?" he asked simply. He was curious if this young man had ever been off of his home world before coming to Paixao, but it was an awkward question to pop out of the blue. Too many worlds have never heard of other ones that this was no doubt a shock to him.

He thought for a second. "Well, lots of people on my planet call it 'Earth', though its actual designation is Sol III. It's in the Milky Way galaxy... specifically, the Orion Arm. It's a barred spiral galaxy, you see..."
Kit grinned. "This place isn't so different, nah. All the glass reminds me of The Crossings, though somehow I think I was pulled here without a worldgate. Which I didn't think was possible. But I suppose the Powers want me here, or else I wouldn't be here."
no subject
"I don't think I really understood much of what you just said." he said swiftly. "But I think I would love to learn! So are you a magician, then?" He inquired. He hadn't said as much, but it had been implied. Subaru himself could work some measure of magic, though he was no magician. No, he was a rare pureblood vampire, a fact he was unwilling to share with many, and especially someone who could be a friend of sorts.
Kamui would have snarled and said they shouldn't trust him. Subaru wanted to, despite that. But Subaru looked around and realized they were still standing in the middle of the street. "Maybe we should go somewhere and sit down," he suggested politely. "You are probably tired." He said decidedly. Traveling between worlds always left Subaru feeling just a bit dizzy and disoriented, like he hadn't fed in a week or more.
no subject
"Yeah, I am kind of tired. It would be nice to sit down, after standing in line at the gates and stuff. They weren't that helpful... though they were nice enough. Nicer than the Stationmaster, anyway."

"It's a bit of a walk to the hotels from here. We could just find a bench and relax for a bit before I show you there. You'll need a room to stay in, of course." Subaru stated as if this were plainly obvious.
"Your version of magic sounds fascinating. I've met mages who sing, who write their magic out, who just wave their hands and it happens, but I don't believe I've ever met anyone who puts so much thought into it." For no reason he could fathom, he thought of the mage who's life had been saved by vampire blood and the blood of the ninja who had been desperate to save him. That mage was particularly powerful, of all the magic users Subaru had ever met. He wondered how his new friend would compare.
"I don't think you said... what is your name?"
no subject
"Ah, yeah... I think I said, but it's easy enough to forget. I'm Kit. Christopher, really, but I hate my name. And there are lots of ways to do magic... the whales sing it, and sometimes you can do spells in your head... the diagram's gotta be somewhere, but it can be in your mind if you want."

Subaru looked about himself and tried to consider all he'd learned so far about this young man, but he still drew a blank. He had never heard of anyone like this before in any of the worlds he had visited. The term wizard was rare enough, and he still thought of old bearded men when he heard THAT term.

He wasn't quite sure what Subaru was. He wasn't sure if he was the same type of human he was, but from different worlds, who knew? It was at least worth listening to another talk. He was in more of a listening mood right now, anyway.

"I am from a world I can never return to... my twin brother and I left a very long time ago..." he trailed off, thinking of Seishirou-san, and why they'd left. "We've been running from world to world ever since... but when I came here, Kamui and I were seperated..." he trailed off. He missed his brother. "But as soon as I find him, we will probably move on. We never stay in one place very long." he said and tried to sound positive.
no subject
"Things happen. You may find him... and if you do, things might get better." 'A wizard does not lie.' "I hope that you will find him, and that things do get better. And I hope that you're able to find somewhere that you can settle down, maybe, or at least stay for a while. You don't have to tell me why you left. But if there's anything I can do, please let me know."
