Carbuncle's New Groove! Er... Clothes!
Character(s): Kronk, Beast Boy, and Carbuncle
Content: After finding some clothes for Carbuncle, the group embarks on new adventures. Nobodies provide adventure sooner than planned.
Setting: Cid's Shop
Time: Morning? Or something?
Warnings: Carbuncle is cute.
The trip to Cid's shop was a complete success. Kronk and Beast Boy had managed to find a suitable outfit for Carbuncle and the shopkeeper accepted their money without any problems. Kronk had even found himself a few items, including a change of clothes for later and some snack food to hold them off until they could find a better meal. He packed his purchases into a backpack that he'd found on the racks, explaining to the others that it would come in handy.
Now the three of them were leaving the store, and Kronk was divying up some of the treats he'd purchased, most of which consisted of food that was good to take on camping trips. "I think the exchange rate here must be pretty favorable to my currency, he commented as he pulled out a few small packages. "They didn't ask much for these... Hm... Let's see, I've got some jerky here..." he started to hand it off to Beast Boy, then thought better of it and tucked the package under his arm for a moment, "I'll save that for me and Carbuncle, since you're a vegetarian... How about a granola bar? They've got chocolate chips in them! Or some trail mix... That can be pretty good when you're camping. Er... Not that we're camping at the moment."

One of his elfish ears twitched when Kronk began to offer the jerky, giving him an amused look as he though twice and decided to offer granola bars or trail mix. "I wonder if they've got tofu in one of the stores around here..." he idly thought aloud, before nodding to the offer. "Something to chew on sounds good, actually." He glanced to Carbuncle to make sure he wasn't going to fall, taking it slow on the walking in case the summon needed help.

"I think we have some trouble," he announced to Beast Boy, although it was pretty obvious by this point. "Those animals are hurting innocent people. Maybe we should break it up or something... You think we can talk to them and tell them to cut it out before someone gets seriously injured and the townsfolk get angry and hunt them all down and burn down their territories and destroy the whole habitat?"
no subject
"Can you put these clothes in your bag, Kronk? I can't carry them when I'm in animal form, and I don't think they'd slow you down..." Beast Boy was more concerned about the safety of the citizens, because his natural hero ideas were there. "We need to help who we can, and I have to find Raven..." he'd tried not to spazz out too badly after that conversation over their communicators, but now he had a better excuse for it. "I think if Carbuncle ran, he has the right idea of how to keep himself out of trouble."

He still had Yzma's knife, having decided not to trade it in quite yet. He pulled it out of the backpack as he zipped it back up, frowning as he considered his options.
And then he noticed movement out of the corner of his eye, and turned to see a familiar figure in red standing on his shoulder. "Do it!" the shoulder devil told him, pointing his pitchfork at the creatures dramatically. "You know you want to kick some serious ass!"
"Must you use such a crude expression?" came another voice from his other shoulder, and Kronk glanced over to see the shoulder devil's counterpart standing there looking annoyed.
"Well, what do you think I should do?" Kronk asked the shoulder angel, since he'd already heard the other's suggestion. It was a good time for his consciences to show up! He definitely had a dilemma. "He says I should, you know..."
The shoulder angel drew himself up and adopted a serene expression. "Is it not right for the strong to defend the weak from harm?"
"So you say he should kick some ass too?" came a voice from the other side of Kronk's head.
The shoulder angel scowled, seeming to deflate slightly. "Well... Essentially, I suppose. Though I prefer the term 'smite the wicked'."
The large man nodded slowly, unable to escape from the logic of using violence in this particular situation. It couldn't be a wrong thing to do if ~both~ of his shoulder consciences approved it. They rarely agreed on anything unless it was important. With this in mind, he lifted the dagger and glanced over at Beast Boy. "Whatever happens, I've got your back."

And that was when Beast Boy heard Kronk talking to himself. Or, well, maybe not himself. He knew there were people from different places around here, and they might've had... abilities or something. Or... multiple personalities. ... Or shoulder angels and devils! Yeaaaaah...
Beast Boy this is not the time to be theorizing. And then the man confirmed he would help. "All right, dude." He turned to look at him, giving him a fangy and wide grin. "C'mon then, let's go!" He turned around with a grin still there, determination and dedication there. He ran forwards, and as he went he shapeshifted into a rhinocerus, shaking his head quickly and storming forwards into a group of Nobodies.

A moment later, he stumbled as another of the creatures slammed into him from behind. Fortunately, it hit the backpack, which softened the blow considerably. But now he had two of the things to deal with, and he had the sinking feeling that they would be hard enough to fight one at a time. He just hoped Beast Boy's abilities would give him an edge over the creatures he had gone after, because he wasn't sure he'd be able to help right away if his friend got in any trouble. It looked like they would need all their strength, skills, and cunning if they were going to win this battle.

With that in mind, the ancient tiger with foot-long teeth leapt at the nearest Nobody to Kronk, snatching it in his mouth and easily crushing it. It disapeared with a loud pop, an odd feeling to have in your mouth, but that just helped Beast Boy assess that they were most certainly not human nor animal and not even really human. "You all right, Kronk?" he called back, fur bristled before he glanced in more creatures directions.
no subject
Of course, that meant that all the creatures were now advancing on the two of them. Kronk was glad that Beast Boy was so able in a fight like this, but he wasn't sure how long the two of them could keep on fighting if the creatures kept coming.
no subject
It was then he found himself scrambling behind Kronk to transform back to his original body, frowning deeply. "I have a feeling we can't keep fighting them, dude..." he mind-read, balling up his gloved fists to punch one away that way. "We should probably move for safer territory soon... pick up some people who might need our help..." he was pretty sure his pterodactyl form could fit in this place, and he could probably carry Kronk easy. He was about Cyborg's size, but Cyborg was... well, a cyborg. And Kronk was probably much lighter.

"Doesn't look like we can do much more good here," he told Beast Boy. "Whatever you want to do, I'll follow your lead."

Now, these creatures didn’t exactly seem like the most organized bunch, so Jing has his doubts that they were conspiring. If anything, there were probably people in the middle of the circle those creatures were starting to form. As much as Jing’s common sense attempted to push him to continue seeking shelter, it could not beat the boy’s sense of heroism. Assuming that there were people there, he quickened his running pace in order to catch up. However, as soon as he reached within viewing range of the two, one of the creatures decided it was perfect time to attack the boy.
It moved to swipe furiously at the young boy but managed instead to get a good amount of orange cloth in its face. In confusion due to the feeling of the cloth on top of it, it flailed until being quickly eliminated upon being impaled by Jing’s blade. To the boy’s surprise, the creature seemed to puff into nothingness once defeated but he did not have much time to think about this. He found himself hopping a few times backwards and grabbing the oversized orange coat to use on two others as they came after him. As much as he would like to make some sort of joke towards Kovu or even check if the lion had caught up, he was occupied by the duo of white creatures.
He managed to duck as the creatures swirled quickly towards him the first time, then quickly threw the whole coat over the duo as a diversion tactic. It seemed to work well as once again, the creatures messed with the remains of his coat, cutting the fabric so that they could get out. As soon as he could get up completely, he quickly swiped at the creatures under the fabric with the sharp end of the blade. They disappeared again, leaving his coat in unevenly cut pieces on the ground.
Jing seemed relatively unfazed by the destruction of his coat - instead glancing around quickly to make sure Kovu was still with him before making an attempt to catch up to the two people he had seen up ahead. If they were there at this point.

But no matter how many she eliminated, there were always more in waiting. It almost felt endless...
Just what were they? Their presence... it was eeriely similar to the reitsu of a Hollow. But at the same time, it felt so different. Not a mask to be seen, either.
At least they died about as easily as most lower level Hollows. And like them, they faded away without so much as a trace. Tobiume was plenty enough to plow through most of the monsters without too much trouble. If only there weren't so many of them. Even if they weren't so hard to defeat, channeling her energy into Tobiume's flames for so long had a way of taking its toll. On top of that, one good night of sleep wasn't near enough to compensate what she'd lost out on since her initial awakening. The dark rings ever-present beneath her eyes were evidence enough of that. She was tired; more tired than she was willing to admit.
Though she wasn't fully aware of it just yet, Hinamori was slowly plowing her way towards the others, marked by flashes of firey pink amongst the swarms of silver.

One of the creatures was attached to his leg in a second, and Beast Boy released a sort of bellowing noise. Stomping he created a small tremor in his immediate area, before squashing the Nobody under his weight by somewhat kneeling on the leg. He could feel a slight gash producing, but wasn't too concerned about it. The lucky thing about being the dinosaur, it seemed.

The only good thing seemed to be that there were other people nearby that were fighting as well. The lion paused for a moment to maul a Nobody that got too close for its own good, then headed towards the new people at top speed. If he and Jing could join up with them, all of them would have better chances.

A smile crossed his face with this thought as he made a quick backtrack to pick up what seemed to be a pouch in the shreds of his orange coat. While he didn’t care much about his coat, the pouch was something he couldn’t go without. Even if it meant getting into some trouble because of it.
Another one of the creatures made it’s way towards him when he began running again. The multitasking within the next few moments as he tied the pouch to his belt and ran proved somewhat fatal. The creature connected a blow slapping his back and caused him to stumble forward. Although Jing managed to destroy the creature with a few quick slices moments later, the pain now felt in his back taught him a lesson.
Being the quick learner he was, Jing quickly grasped the concept being taught and focused on following Kovu to the others at top speed.

At least, some of them were people. Human or not, they were battling the creatures, same as she was; they weren't enemies. At least not now. The shinigami's grip on her blade tightened decisively. This was why she'd come out here in the first place, after all. To help anyone she could find that had managed to survive this sudden onslaught. With more vigor to her swings than a moment before, and a certain goal set in mind now that she'd noticed the growing group, the shinigami pressed onwards.

Flinching, the Titan turned a little as he felt another white creature attached to him, though this time he could easily swing his tail and slam straight into it with a near-scowl on his 'ancient' face. These things were obnoxious, and he wasn't willing to start running with Kronk on his back. He doubted he was expertised at riding random dinosaurs like Cyborg was. "Gehh, these guys are annoying!" he yelled irritatedly, snapping at one of the Nobodies close to him.

He decided to stay clear of the huge reptilian creature that was taking the things out right and left, since it would be far to easy to get in the way rather than help. But he still gave it and the human with it a quick call as he broke free from fighting for a moment. "Mind if we join this party?"

When he reached Kovu, the boy noticed the presence of a rather large built-man riding upon the dinosaur. Upon coming closer, he noted the man was giving them a greeting, and a rather unique one at that. He couldn’t help but to wonder how the other could give them such a long greeting while chaos was basically surrounding them. Almost as soon as he thought this, one of the creatures had latched onto the other’s leg.
Jing would have helped had he not been bombarded by more of them himself, and thus had to avert his attention to the enemies attack him. Luckily, the next time he had the chance to look again, the other had defeated the creature. Seeing this, he gave a thumbs up before slicing another opponent.
Although he was doing pretty well as far as battling went, he was still getting his own fair share of injuries. Such a thing was unavoidable, however, in this type of situation. Plus, despite the pain he would experience later, the fight was, for the most part, pretty fun. While he cringed at the thought of resorting to such violent methods as he was now, he still couldn’t help but to find something interesting within the chaos.
“I suppose a little bit of ‘dancing’ isn’t all that bad.” He spoke, mostly to himself as he continued battling.
((OOC: Sorry for this being so late~. ))

There seemed to be no end to the nobodies, and even though Kovu was a good fighter and had plenty of strength on his side, he was still finding himself getting tired as the fight went on. More importantly, he was slowing down, and the creatures were getting in more blows now. Even with the number of other people he had fighting alongside him, the lion was beginning to wonder if maybe it was about time for another retreat, before one of them ran out of luck and got seriously injured.
Almost as soon as he had that thought, however, the onslaught was over. He looked up from his latest kill as it vanished at his feet and was amazed to see the streets clear of the creatures that had been swarming around just a few seconds before. There was almost an eerie silence now, in the wake of the attack. "We... won?" he panted, trying to catch his breath now that he had a spare moment.

He grinned, before looking over at the others that had joined them and gave a wave and a usual grin. Although his attention soon went to his journal, as he remembered that he'd been speaking to Raven shortly before on the journals. "It's probably a good thing they gave up, I gotta find Raven..." he grumbled this, before looking up at the others again while browsing for the post. "You dudes are good, the name's Gar. Or Beast Boy," he shrugged a little. Gar was easier to handle than 'Garfield,' anyways.

Such as the transformation of the giant dinosaur into the humanoid figure that now stood before him. Jing had seen many awkward things in his life but this was truly a first. Jing had already started to question this place in the beginning, and this already added onto that questioning. Then again, Jing reminded himself, people from ‘other worlds’ have appeared as well, and that Gar, as he introduced himself as, was probably in a similar situation as himself.
So many piece, but no one being able to put them together. Oh well, Jing would just have to collect the pieces in his pouch and attempt to figure them for himself.
“Thanks! You’re not too bad yourself.” Jing grinned, the pain in his back ignored for the moment. He would definitely have to fix that soon enough – that as well as having to buy himself a new coat.
“My name is Jing.” He continued, following the train of introduction. He gestured towards the lion with his left arm, as the right one was still by his side, blade still not hidden simply to be cautious. “And this is Kovu.”

He seemed to be unphased that he'd just turned back into his normal form and the others were a little surprised, but that was the least of his troubles. "I hate to say that I have to go and find Raven first, Kronk." He glanced up towards him, closing his journal. "She's at a hotel, and once I know she's okay, I'll look for Carbuncle..." he turned and looked at Jing and Kovu as well, giving a slight smile and a nod. "You guys can come too, the hotel's probably a definite safe zone, and I bet taking a breather wouldn't be a bad idea."

Jing had noted earlier there had been a lot of people searching for companions and acquaintances, himself being no exception. He had not heard too many success stories in attempts to contact those missing however there was still hope, considering both Gar and Kovu had been able to get in contact with someone familiar to them. Still, the ratios seemed to dampen the hopes that Jing would be able to find Kir. Although he did not display it outwardly, he envied those who had been able to contact someone they knew. Now that the battle was over, his mind now wandered, wondering if his partner was doing well. Certainly the assault of creatures couldn’t have proven well for Kir if he was here.
Hopefully he could attempt a form of search once they found a place to settle down. Or maybe he could post on the message boards now that he had the time? With any luck, someone could have seen Kir – and besides, he could always use the map to find a place to lay low for a small bit. After Gar spoke of Carbuncle, he took out his journal from the pouch in order to post.
His eyes wandered down the new posts, checking incase maybe someone had posted about the black albatross. While he did not get any references to the bird, one post in particular caught his interest. The post most certainly sounded like his partner yet he could not exactly tell by the post itself. However, instinct played a role in helping him decide whether to post a reply or not, and in the end he had sent a simple message.
The reply was almost instant – and in itself was like a lucky gift. His partner was definitely here, that was certain, and now some of the fears from earlier could be laid to rest. There was much joy to be had over this occasion but he only displayed as much as a smile in front of the group as he exchanged messages with Kir. Through the messages, they planned to meet near the train station at Vanaheim – which Jing consented to despite knowing this may halt his other plans.
While he had been listening to the words Gar was saying, he did not reply automatically. It took him several moments to finish up the ‘conversation’ with Kir before glancing upward to respond. “I’d take you up on your offer but it seems I’ve been arranged for an appointment, myself.”
Despite the altered plans, he certainly hadn’t forgotten his promise to Kovu – and his next comment was directed towards the lion. “You can go with them if you want – I’ll probably be able to catch up within a few hours.”
((OOC: I think I might have gone a little overboard~. Sorry. -shot- ))

He did wonder if it might be possible to have Kiara meet up with them too, though... Jing hadn't said where he was headed yet, but Kovu figured he could easily send a message about it. "Where are you going, anyway?" he inquired. "I'll tell Kiara about it, if I can. Maybe she'll be able to catch up with us."
no subject
"We could go look for Carbuncle now, and maybe even those people from you come from... It'd be cool to at least know they're here, right?" he looked up towards Kronk, scratching at his green hair a moment with a lopsided smile across his face. Perhaps they could even find the others of his team. Hopefully not any of his enemies, he'd had enough fighting for one day.
no subject
“There’s bound to be a lot of new faces popping up here,” Jing offered as a sign of hope, since he knew he could not stay with the two. "Maybe you can make friends with them while you're here?"
Jing knew that going alone right after the supposed disappearance wouldn’t benefit him much but the destinations Beast Boy and Kronk had in mind would not benefit him either. Still, in some respects he had wished to go alone in order to find his companion, eager to get to Kir as soon as he could. Having some company wouldn’t cause much of a problem, though – and it would most likely help out the situation if Kovu came with him. Not only would Kovu’s presence with him help incase of another attack but also Jing was already devising a plan to help speed up another reunion.
“As for Kiara, I was thinking of another idea, actually.” Jing responded in regards to Kovu, as he started to walk towards the next destination. “If you want to leave her a message though, the first stop should be the Central Station.”

Áfter working for a minute or two to compose a message, he looked up and gave his friend a nod. "Okay... Let's get going."
