Prepare for Landing. [Complete]

Character(s): Linali Li, Kanda Yuu, Rabi, NPC receptionist, Ashe, Shunsui, Nanao
Content: The female Black Priest travels to the center of the city to reunite with Rabi, his friends, and Kanda.
Setting: Actua Are [J7]
Time: Sunday, early afternoon
Warnings: Flirting, juice stains, a broken nose, and 'sweet' faces. Bewareth.

Under the warm sunshine, the exorcist softly shuts her black mini-PC. She slips the journal into her shirt's inner pocket and hops to her feet. She took the coat (which she had removed a while ago due to the heat) and grudgingly put it back on again. She knew that it would fly off if she had tied it around her waist.

Flipping her hair out of the collar and stretching her limbs, Linali positioned herself for takeoff.

Crouching, the dark boots began to whir, the cross-embedded orbs attached to the ankles began to glow, and....

Blast off!

A thin dust cloud was left as her starting point; she shot through the sky like a fighter jet, hair and coat flailing wildly behind her. Thanks to an in-depth, three-dimensional map of the city, Linali was able to designate her route of travel; it also allowed her to recognize block J7 from a bird's-eye-view.

Sooner than she expected, she was homing in on the hotel. Anyone within a ten-meter radius would be able to hear the growing sound of something burning from the sky.

Somewhere in the line of their long, long history, Rabi had conceived the notion that it was okay to touch Kanda. The Japanese exorcist had no idea how Rabi came up with this, but there was no changing his mind by now. That, and throwing Rabi into a wall would probably upset Linali. So, in his typical fashion, Kanda settled for shrugging Rabi's arm off his shoulders and muttering something vaguely derogatory towards the redheaded exorcist.

That done, Kanda glanced around Rabi's mass of hair towards the last exorcist in their little parade. "Linali, did you say you had money?"

In the end, all exorcists were freeloaders. Some had more shame than others about it, but his time in Paixao was nearing a week and Kanda had little patience for shame. And so he entered Actua Are with Rabi, Linali, Ashe and Shunsui. Though, he doubted that he'd remember the names of the latter two, after a day or so. Such was his nature.

When everyone except for Isaac has gathered in the lobby, Kanda spoke up, asking Linali if she said she has money. Somehow Ashe sensed that the reason why he asked is because he himself has none. She has spent almost all of her money on paying for yesterday's breakfast of the rescue-cloud bunch but she still has some left and this particular hotel does not seem to be anywhere near as expensive as the previous one so she should be able to help pay.

"I have some too!" she offers, following Linali's reply. She will need to find a job very soon, however, money is running out and begging is definitely not an option. She would rather die from hunger and exposure than be found begging in the streets for money.

Hmm...where should we sit? Linali said as they come upon a spacious eatery just around the reception desk. The place seems nice enough, but not so nice that it is expensive. She just hopes that the money she has will be enough to pay for at least two people. "Why don't we sit near the window? It's a beautiful morning," she suggests.

"It is a beautiful morning," Shunsui agreed, giving Ashe a crooked grin, "It doesn't quite compare to you, but that can't be helped."

Pause. Then, as if he hadn't said anything untoward previously, Shunsui picked up where he left off.

"I wonder if there's anywhere to sit outside. Hmmm."

He was working in the back of his head on something nice to say to Linali or Kanda, but he was going to wait until he was certain which one was the girl, and which one was the friend that Rabi had claimed to be a very girly-looking boy. Shunsui couldn't remember which was which. Their clothes should have been a strong indicator, but with people like Yumichika Ayasegawa running around Soul Society, Shunsui had learned to be a little more careful.

Kanda snorted softly at Linali's similar refusal of Rabi touching her. The smirk on his face was about as close to geuninely "amused" as Kanda got. It was for entirely the wrong reasons, but it was amusement nonetheless.

The amusement all but completely faded when Shunsui handed off a one-liner to Ashe, who Rabi had designated as the "babe." It was just so unbelievably.. tacky. And it put a bad taste in his mouth. In the back of his mind, he made a mental note to ignore most, if not all, of what Shunsui said. It'd probably make his company more tolerable.

"I don't have any preference," Kanda said, shrugging. He didn't particularly care where they sat, since he was used to eating in a cafeteria full of loud Finders. As long as the food was good, he had no arguments.

"Wake up!"

Nanao sat up with a jolt, her heart pounding rapidly in her chest as she gasped for breath. Just who in the world had-

"Stupid girl!" The familiar voice of Sennyo no Hisuidake echoed in her head, scolding her as if she were just a mere child. "Don't you feel it? He's here!"

"Who is?" Nanao asked, her brain stil befuddled by sleep - and by that familiar reiatsu that seemed to be coming from nearby...

"Kami-sama! I wish I had never chosen you if you were going to turn out to be this slow! No matter: can you not sense your Captain's reiatsu? I have been hearing Katen Kyoukotsu for a while now."

The realization slammed into Nanao's gut hard, and the next thing she knew she was on her feet, pulling her hair back up in its usual up-do before she sprinted out the hall, out of the hotel, and into the world outside.

It was only then that she realized how many familiar reiatsus there were around. Had she been so ignorant of their existence in the past few days? Had she really been than insensible?

No matter, she thought, that was not her priority at the moment. What was most important was that she reach her Captain, and as soon as possible. And that only meant one thing: shunpo.

With that thought in mind, she quickly moved into shunpo, moving through the city with incredible speed, and ignoring the blurs that passed her by. Normally she would have taken some time to look around, but she wanted to get to her Captain as soon as possible. After all, heavens only knew what sort of trouble he was going to get himself into without her.

A part of her inquired as to why she was so enthusiastic about seeing Kyouraku again, but she immediately squashed that voice, knowing that it was not Sennyo no Hisuidake anyway.

She quickly reached another Actua Are hotel, and she stopped just in front of it, trying to sense if this was the place. With that confirmed, she immediately climbed up the stairs, and sought out the room where she sensed her Captain was.

And then, without further protocol or ceremony, she opened the door, and immediately clapped her gaze on him - pink robe, straw hat and all. "Captain! What are you doing here?"

Ashe just throws Shunsui a smile at his little comment and while his previous advances had flown right over her head, this last one made her a little uncomfortable somehow. She waves it off as irrelevant and follows Linali as the girl picks a large table by the window, taking a seat right beside the window as she finds the sun to be very pleasant. Not long after they have taken their seats, a waiter comes along to serve ice water from a metal jug to all of the. Ashe, nodding and muttering a 'thank you' as a regard to the waiter's service.

We have a brunch buffet over there, Madame, the waiter informs Linali, placing the metal jug on the center of the table. Linali's conversation with the waiter about the Renminbi and currencies perks her attention, but before she could call the departing waiter, a female voice interrupts her, Captain! What are you doing here?

Ashe turns around to find herself looking at the girl fitting the description that Shunsui gave to them about Nanao. Blinking once before standing up, she walks over to Nanao and gives her a slight bow, "I am Ashe, are you the Nanao that Captain Shunsui here was looking for?"

[identity profile] manlymanman.livejournal.com 2006-06-12 08:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, that voice! So sharp and piercing--so familiar!--and yet, so surprising, mostly because Shunsui hadn't heard it for quite some time.

Needless to say he almost choked on his drink. Shunsui recovered quickly, though, wiping his mouth with his arm, setting the cup down, and rising out of his chair. His clothes ruffled quietly. He stood there with his back to the table and his new friends for a moment. Shunsui's sad eyes stared across the room. That was...Well, that was certainly his vice captain!

Without further ado, he flung his arms out wide, his face exploding into a garish smile. "NAAAAANAAAAAOOOOO-CHAAAAAN!"

He was loud enough that several other patrons of the restaurant stopped eating to peer at him.

Inasmuch as she was very glad to see her Captain again, Nanao should have remembered that some things never changed - and that included her Captain's almost obscene fascination with her. She really would have liked it more if he showed a little more restraint from time to time.

She had already calculated the amount of time it would take for her Captain to reach her and scoop her up in an embrace, and hence she was able to reach for her fan at the very past minute, and use it to give her Captain a smack on the wrist just as he reached out to hug and - gods above - kiss her.

"I am glad to see that you are safe and sound, Captain," she replied dryly, though she allowed herself to smile a little, since she had meant those words to a certain extent.

She stepped back, and tucked her fan back into her gi, after which she pushed her glasses a little further up her nose. "And please, Captain, show a little more restraint. This place is not like the taverns in Soul Society where you can start causing a scene without there being some form of repercussion."

Kanda sipped his water wordlessly, taking note of how the waiter accepted the foreign currency so easily. No conversion rates or anything. The entire thing was just too convenient, but this was entirely the wrong place to complain. Like it or not, he was hungry.

The sound of somebody shouting for a captain caught his attention, along with all the others. Only after the dark-haired woman directly referred to Shunsui as "Captain" again, did Kanda realize it really was his title. With a soft snort, he silently expressed some dry sympathy for any men that were unlucky enough to have him for a commanding officer. At least that woman seemed to know how to deal with him.

Rolling his eyes, the Japanese exorcist rose to his feet. "I'll head to the buffet as well."

Nanao watched as the strange girl and the rather stern-looking man walked off, before realizing that another girl had attempted to speak to her before Shunsui tried to...well, she didn't really want to think about that.

In response, she bowed to the woman who had introduced herself as Ashe, wondering - though not really all that surprised - that she had called her "Nanao." She supposed that it shouldn't be all that surprising, especially since Ashe had been in the company of her Captain.

"Yes. I am Ise Nanao. It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Ashe, and I beg your pardon on behalf of my Captain for his outrageous behavior. He can be quite a handful sometimes." Better to apologize now, because she had a funny feeling that her Captain had already hit on this lovely young lady.

For some odd reason, though, Nanao could not help but feel a twinge of jealousy at the idea.

Ashe giggles briefly as Nanao smacks Shunsui's hand as he tries to draw her into an embrace. Yes. I am Ise Nanao. It is a pleasure to meet you, Miss Ashe, and I beg your pardon on behalf of my Captain for his outrageous behavior. He can be quite a handful sometimes. She offers Nanao an amused smile at how they seem to be the most unlikeliest of couples. Then again, Ashe is not sure whether they are lovers or not, but that look in Nanao's eyes as she spotted Shunsui did say something.

She chuckles before correcting Nanao, "Mrs. Ashe," with a smile so that Nanao does not get offended. "Your Captain has been most kind, there is nothing to apologize for."

[identity profile] manlymanman.livejournal.com 2006-06-22 10:28 pm (UTC)(link)
All the while, the captain in the pink coat rubbed his hand, even though Nanao's swats only stung for so long.

Shunsui thought it was really cute how Ashe and Nanao were being so polite with one another. What was even cuter was how Ashe insisted on being called "Mrs. Ashe," which, to Shunsui, immediately made him note in the back of his mind to call Ashe by her full name. 'How funny,' he mused, 'I wonder if I call Ashe Mrs. Banalgan Dalamasca all the time, if she'll get mad and hit me. It's like she's the opposite of Nanao-chan, haha.

He noticed that Rabi had returned, too, with some food. Ooh, food.

Then Shunsui noticed the number of chairs. He stopped rubbing his hand and sighed, "Oh, Nanao-chaaaan, it's so wonderful to see you, but there may be a problem. There aren't enough chairs at this table here."

He appeared to go into deep thought for a moment as he attempted to stare into Nanao's eyes.

"I guess you'll just have to sit on my lap," Shunsui said in a matter-of-fact way. He wondered how fast she'd be with her fan this time.

[identity profile] cold-destroyer.livejournal.com 2006-06-24 08:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Sometimes, Rabi was capable of eating more than the beansprout. Sometimes. Their appetites seemed to constantly be topping each other, and Kanda still hadn't figured out why they felt the need to eat so much. The Japanese exorcist had a biting remark on the tip of his tongue, but Rabi interrupted first. And then--

"... hey, look!"

Kanda grit his teeth together, forcefully trying not to notice the juice that was dripping down his uniform and parts of his normal clothes. Exhaling was done slowly, his face tightening with every breath. He was sure that there were plenty of reasons to not kill Rabi. For example, they were in a public place, a restaurant.

If he wanted to get food, it wouldn't be good to forcefully drown Rabi in a vat of soup. That, and..

Fuck it.

Very slowly, Kanda took a few steps out of the juice puddle in which he stood. Fruit juice dripping from his uniform and bits of his hair, he advanced on Rabi, very very slowly. As he neared the table, his footsteps picked up speed until he had speedwalked all the way to where Rabi had rejoined the group.

And promptly shoved Rabi's face into the table.

With an almost delicate manner, he took Rabi's collar and peeled him back from the tabletop. He then proceeded to yank the redheaded exorcist away. Using his free hand, he jerked a thumb towards the now-vacant chair.

"This seat," he stated. "Is free."

Nanao smiled, and bowed in response to Ashe's correction. "Thank you for correcting me, Mrs. Ashe." She realized that she liked this woman: polite and self-assured, one who reminded her of the many other women in Soul Society.

She turned to Rabi, and smiled as well. She remembered him well enough from their first encounter in front of the hotel she had only recently left. "Yes, Mr. Rabi. I am glad that you remember me from our last encounter. Did you find the person you were looking for?"

She heard her Captain say something about her sitting on his lap because of the lack of chairs, but she merely glared at him in response to that, and proceeded to ignore him. There were a few things she would allow him to get away with when it came to her, but that was certainly not one of them - especially when in the company of other people.

The almost-deafening sound of Rabi's face hitting the table hard makes Ashe jump in her skin while taking a step or two back with her hand automatically reaching for the hand of someone who is usually always beside her at these kind of moments. Her fingers close in upon empty air as she whips her head around with a disappointed look on her face before turning back to the drama unfolding before her.

Linali is running after Kanda to somehow rescue Rabi who is being dragged away. While it would be improper to laugh over someone else's misery, the scene is undoubtedly funny. Her thoughts still on the hand she could not reach for, Ashe can only manage a sigh and a forced smile at the three comical figures.

Ashe then turns to her side, catching sight of Nanao and Shunsui, reminded once again at how the two of them seem to be such a, for lack of a better word, cute couple. Looking at couples still bring a searing pain to her heart and lowering her gaze with her vision on nothing in particular, she tries to imagine how his hand usually fits in hers using her right hand behind her back.

A tiny smile blooms on her face even though her eyes are stinging from the tears she holds back. The pain of his... leaving is still fresh in her heart but so is the joy she had during the very short time that they were together as husband and wife. Her thoughts far away on that time that seemed to be in another life time, she did not realize it when his names escapes her lips in a pained smile, "Rasler..."

(OOC: Hurray I finally get to post :DDD)

Shunsui's short, initial reaction to seeing Rabi getting face-slammed on the table was one of leaping into action. However, that quickly relapsed into inaction, as Shunsui didn't know the entire situation; Rabi didn't seem to be in mortal danger; and besides, Rabi was calling for Linali, not Shunsui. Shunsui knew that if he were in a situation like that, he'd want a girl instead of a man to come and help him, too.

He was becoming a little surer in knowing that Linali was a girl and Kanda a boy, but even if it were the other way around, Shunsui would have shamelessly enjoyed himself in such a situation...although he'd play the part with kicking and screaming for entertainment's sake.

"Nanao-chan, if you take my seat," Shunsui said, not feeling awkward at all that she'd ignored his suggestion of lap-sitting, as if he'd not really registered what was going on across the table, either. He gestured sweepingly at the chair. "I'll bring another one for myself...Miss Dalamasca?"

The nicely-dressed woman seemed to have zoned out. Shunsui repeated, "Miss Dalamasca? Don't be sad, please! I'm sure Rabi isn't too hurt." He tapped her gently on the shoulder.

Shunsui shot a quick glance at Nanao. Nanao was a girl--she'd understand what was going on with Ashe better than he, right?

[identity profile] cold-destroyer.livejournal.com 2006-07-03 04:13 pm (UTC)(link)
After releasing most of his anger by this point, Kanda's temper had simmered down to "smouldering and snappish." On the bright side, he was less likely to make Rabi suffer any more physical pain. On the not-so-bright side, he was probably going to be grouchy for the rest of the meal, or more grouchy than he already would have been.

And while the temptation to clean his uniform using soap and Rabi's face was still great, the redhead had gone and ducked behind Linali. He wasn't about to shove her aside, since he'd already given Rabi what he deserved.

"Rabi, you're going to buy me new clothes if I have to go and sell you to one of those blonde freaks myself," Kanda stated. Very calmly, of course.
