What's the point of meeting if you're not eating, anyway? [Active]
Character(s): Gourry and Lina
Content: Lina and Gourry meet up for the first time since her arrival!
Setting: Jotunheim's Cheap Eats
Time: Early evening?
Warnings: Gluttony and slapstick violence.
It wasn't the first time Gourry had been to this particular establishment. It may not have been classy, but it just reminded him so much of home -- dimly-lit and humbly furnished, maybe a little shady at times, but altogether simple and without pretense, like most of the inns and restaurants he and Lina would have stopped to eat at in their travels. Then, of course, there was the food -- it wasn't half-bad, and you got a lot of bang for your buck. Lina had taught him how to stretch a dollar when it came to food, and even if that wasn't much of a concern here, it had stuck with him.
Even though it pained him to do so, he kept telling the waitress he was going to wait on his order, knowing full well that Lina would have something to say about it if he'd started without her. He glanced towards the door every so often, hoping to catch a glimpse of that all-too-familiar red hair or blindingly pink outfit, but so far, no luck. Well, he'd already waited a couple of months. A few more minutes wouldn't kill him. Lina was usually pretty punctual, anyway... well. When it was convenient, at least.

Eyes widen, Lina spotted him, “Gourry!” She gave a big smile as rushed her way over to him while waving. Just so glad to see her friend was here. Then she noticed he started eating without her, which made her slow down her pace a bit as she now focused on taking a seat. “Eeeeeh? Ya couldn’t wait-Of course ya couldn’t-Ooooooi WAITRESS! Gimme all the things ya got for this guy!” Lina loudly exclaimed as she jabbed her thumb toward Gourry, then promptly took a seat next to him, snerking as she poked him, “Ya were makin’ me worried ya got yourself lost y’know. Glad you’re here.”
no subject
"I was worried, too! Ending up here with no sign of anyone we know? I thought somethin' awful mighta happened to you! I mean, you'd just handle whatever it was with a fireball, but I was still worried," he told her, shoveling food into his mouth all the while. Neither one of them had ever been that concerned with table manners, really.
no subject
Lina gave a little blush at that, but quickly tried to dismiss it by glugging down some juice. Before turning her attention back to Gourry, she picked up one of the potatoes, hesitating just for a moment, “Still-I uh-Glad you’re ok alright? We’ll have to see if we can go exploring around here together and see what if there’s anything that got more information ‘bout this place. Didja go to any of the floors here yet?”
((Sorry I'm late! Busy week!))
"I was thinkin' of offerin' my services to people who can't fight so well," he went on to explain, sullenly lifting a biscuit from the basket at the center of the table and biting half of it clean off. "Fighting's what I'm best at! But now that you're here, we can check 'em out together, right?"
((Oh no you're fine, I was busy myself <333))
Lina glanced at Gourry when he mentioned about giving his services. She folded her arms as she held on to the turkey leg. “Any luck? Got any money outta that anyway?” Lina asked out of curiosity.
Then when Gourry said he was willing to go check out the other floors together, Lina gave a smile, and winked, grabbing a handful of croissants, “Right! We’ll go together! Gotta find out what the hell this whole place has besides just this floor.”
no subject
"Actually, money here isn't like money at home! Didya see any of those plants or trees on your way over here? They're kinda fake lookin'! People use the leaves and stuff for money here, so money really does grow on trees, heh! When I first got here, I was all worried about findin' a job, but getting paid was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be!"
no subject
Lina glanced around at the folks around them as Gourry brought up those fake plants with jewels, “Hm, ya gotta good point actually, since money grows on trees ‘round here, going through an effort like that would be kinda wasted. Perhaps we should stick to someone who has something of most value or in this case power,” she said with a sort of sneaky grin. Honestly, if Amelia were here, she’d comment something that was like how a villain would think. But hey, girls’ gotta look out for herself. Why not go after something that’s worthwhile?
“That Vyers guy might know somethin’ ‘bout that… I’ll have to ask him next time,” Lina said to herself as she rubbed her chin, still with that suspicious smirk.
no subject
"Huh. Didn't think of that," he went on to voice, as though it weren't already glaringly obvious. "Who's this Vyers guy, anyway?"
no subject
“Oh Vyers is this guy I met when I first got here, knows a lot about the city,” Lina rubbed her chin, “Apparently he’s from some place called the Netherworld. Never been there myself, but I think there are all sortsa people that came here that are from other worlds. Figures we ain’t the only captives here.”
no subject
Weird. Though he supposed he'd probably seen weirder in all their travels. Their world had plenty of things in it that other people probably thought were out of the ordinary.
"So what are we gonna do about backup? Y'think this Vyers guy is good for that? Feels kinda weird, bein' here without Zel and Amelia along for the ride." Even though their other companions hadn't been a constant when it came to their adventures back home, he'd gotten used to having them around -- and he always appreciated that neither of them chose to hit him when they were feeling particularly frustrated.
UGH So Late Sorry ;A;
Giving a nod, Lina spoke, “Vyers seems to know what he’s doing. Get better acquainted and we’ll see if he’s good at fighting at all. My guess he probably is, seeing that he is some kinda demon,” shrugging, “I don’t think he’s up to anything bad either. Doesn’t seem the type, y’know? Though he certainly likes to dress fancy, like some kinda vampire or somethin’.”
Looking to the side, “Ne Gourry… You think we might see Amelia or Zel here sometime…? I don’t know when they might show up or if they even could… Kinda concerns me a bit that we got summoned here.”
Quite alright! <3
He chewed thoughtfully as he listened to her continue -- at least, an unknowing onlooker might have considered him thoughtful. He almost tuned out for a moment; this meatloaf was incredible.
Oh, right. They were talking about this Vyers guy.
"Sounds kinda familiar. Can't be any worse than all that time we spent with Xellos tagging along, right?" Really, for a monster, Xellos was alright. Not really trustworthy, but more often than not he seemed to be on their side, even if he was pretty shifty. His powers came in handy, anyway.
"I'm not sure... I think people show up here all the time, so they could, too. I don't want 'em to be stuck, but it'd be nice to know where they are instead of worrying that they got thrown somewhere else."
no subject
Lina Inverse gave a sigh as she wondered about her friend, “You’re right, I guess it would be kinda troublesome for them. Still it’d be nice if we were all together, but I guess that’s just how things go sometimes,” Lina said as she put her hands behind her head, “Guess we don’t have to worry about that for now and just focus on gettin’ outta here. Although, Gourry, anyone toldja some stuff about the Organization yet?”
no subject
"Nope," he told her with his mouth full, pausing just long enough to swallow. "Don't know much of anything. What's the Organization?"
no subject
Glancing to the side as grabbed a bunch of chocolate donuts for dessert. “As much as I like the fact jewelry grows on trees here, I do wanna see my friends again,” Lina grumbled, “And not be trapped here forever.”

Then the red head gave a sigh at that mispronunciation. Jellyfish memory strikes again! Lina grumbled, “Shabranigdo, Gourry. And sure I ain’t too worried. It can’t be too hard to fight guys who have power of darkness, I mean you got the sword of light, this should be cinch, right?”
no subject
"Alright! So we've got this one in the bag already, if you think about it!"
no subject
Giving a little smirk, Lina leaned in a bit, “Call it an experiment of sorts, see how well we can beat these guys~” she said with a bit of a snicker. She was already looking forward to beating up some monsters already. She could use a little excitement and fun ‘round here.

Finishing up the meal-pardon banquet, which was a lot for the average human being to eat, Lina and Gourry were just that special though. She brought a bag of jewels for the check, and gave a smirk as she looked at Gourry, “Nyaaah, that was good~ Shall we be on our way then?”
no subject
"Yep! Now that my stomach's full, I could take on anything!"
no subject
As Lina started walking she made a slight pout, “Ano… Gourry?” she looked back up at him, “Where have you been staying ‘round here exactly? I mean we should probably room together or somethin’”
Pausing as she holds up her hands with a little smile, “I-I mean just so we don’t have to look far to find each other, y’know? It’ll be much easier!”
no subject
"Since money really does grow on trees here, the price didn't matter much! Beds are pretty comfy, too, and the food's decent!"
