On the Case! [Complete]
Character(s): Vyers, Urd, Timon, Xion...Simba? Namine? Whoever lives in this crazy commune that used to be Vyers' apartment?
Content: Vyers is hiding something and Urd can't take no for an answer.
Setting: The apartment Vyers shares with lots of people and animals.
Time: Week 20...daytime?
Warnings: None. CHAOS!
It was no surprise that Vyers was secretive. He apparently had a thing for being a man shrouded in mystery, though the cool factor seemed to constantly be decreased exponentially every time he failed, which...seemed to be a lot. He hid his relationship with his son, she was fairly certain he'd hidden the same fact from Laharl himself until recently and now, he was hiding something again. Honestly, the end result was less impressive and more exceedingly frustrating.
After a conversation with the demon over the network in which she'd said way more than she intended, Urd dashed out of the house she shared with Genie and Yorda and immediately flew up towards the domed ceiling. How dare he try to be all secretive with her, like she was another kid he could manipulate! Like he was her mothe -- well, it didn't matter. She was going to his place right now and forcing it out of him by any means possible!
...now, where did he live, exactly?
Urd stopped her ascent and scowled, looking over the tops of the buildings. Okay, so she hadn't thought this through. No problem. She reached up to her ear and snapped off one of the thin golden shafts on her hoop earring and held it out in her palm.
"Find me the one that I seek," she whispered, bowing her head and closing her eyes as she concentrated her power into the piece of metal. It rose above her hand, slowly spinning in place like the needle of a compass. It spun faster and faster until it was a golden whirl in the sunlight -- and then it abruptly stopped, pointing the way for a few seconds before darting off.
Smirking at her own ingenuity, Urd followed it, flying with more speed than she should but not really caring. For some reason, she couldn't help but feel time was of the essence.
The barely visible part of her earring lead her to an apartment complex. As she neared it, she didn't slow down, but held out her hand. The doors to the building flung open as if by a strong wind and the goddess sped on through, heedless of the shocked shrieks of the people she nearly collided with. Up the stairs, down the hall and...
"Vyers!" she shouted, slamming open the door while simultaneously catching the tiny gold rod out of the air in her fist. "Get your skinny butt out here!"

"Get your skinny butt out here!"
no subject
"Not quite," he said. He was calm as he said it, though he sounded as though he was trying to distance himself from the explanation. "I... have been dead for two years. This was a temporary reincarnation. The Seraph made sure that I would be able to stay as long as I could, but... he is not here, and I have pushed this body past its limits. Even if it is fixed now, it will continue to occur."
no subject
Her gaze snapped back to his and she moved to his side quickly. "Vyers, I need to look into your memories and see every detail I can about what happened to you. Will you let me do that? Can you trust me to keep your secrets?"
no subject
He nodded as she asked to see into his memories. If that was what it took, then that was what it took. If anything, he had to know.
no subject
It all happened in a few seconds. Urd gasped, feeling the empathic pain and grief from the connection she briefly had with Vyers and took a shaky step back from him, eyes wide and shimmering with tears. "Vyers..."
no subject
They immediately snapped back to Urd's face as she drew in a gasp and backed away. Vyers' brow furrowed slightly as he noticed the tears in her eyes. Perhaps he should have prepared her a little more for what she had been about to see...
He got to his feet and walked to the window, staring outside with his back to Urd, a sudden solemnity coming over his bearing. "It was what had to be done. Such are the sacrifices that come with being an Overlord."
no subject
Urd squared her shoulders, hands tightening at her side. "I can do everything in my power to help you, but it won't matter if you don't want it. The gift of life I'd give you would only go to waste. What's your decision, Vyers?" She narrowed her eyes.
"When the day comes when you're with your wife again, don't you want to be able to tell her you gave it your all?"
no subject
The demon's forehead rested gently against the cool glass, his eyes closed. "Would such a thing even be possible?" he asked, and there was the barest hint of hope in his voice. "Are you sure you would be able to do this?"
no subject
"I won't be able to reincarnate you again, but...I can try to stop the deterioration of this body. It will take a lot of preparation and some borrowed power...and will, as well." She glanced at him, knowing the next words out of her mouth might very well turn him off from the idea completely.
"And the cooperation from Laharl and Timon. Perhaps others as well. Are you up for that?"
no subject
Timon, then... Timon was more difficult to tell. The meerkat was so selfish, and yet there was how defensively he had reacted not long before. Would he even agree?
Even if he did have to tell them eventually, he wasn't looking forward to this. Briefly he considered trying someone else and seeing if they would have a simpler way, or at the very least a way that wouldn't require either of those two, but he reluctantly nodded. "Very well."
no subject
Urd walked up to the window and opened it, giving him a reassuring smile over her shoulder. "I'll go prepare. Contact me when everyone's up to speed." With that, she hopped out of the window and disappeared.
no subject
But in the end he knew it wasn't going to help, and, almost as though he were afraid of being caught by someone looking outside into the window, he jerked away and pressed himself flat against the wall, staring straight ahead like a deer caught in the headlights.
no subject
“Oi, Vyers. You still alive in there?” he called out.
no subject
He walked over to the door, hand resting on the knob as he tried to decide whether or not he should say anything, but the door was soon open, Vyers deciding that he would see what Timon wanted first.
no subject
Scratching the back of his head, Timon glanced outside of the room for a moment to look back at the Nobodies waiting for him. “Anyway, I need some money. With Urd here, or at least was here, I was gonna take the kids out for ice cream. She’s, uh, not coming back, is she?”
no subject
"We just... talked for a moment," he replied. "I believe it will be some time before she returns." Vyers walked over to one of the end tables, searching the drawers for something Timon could use as money. He pulled out some leaves and handed them over. "Here," he said quietly.
no subject
“I’ll let you know when we’re back.” He said before turning to leave. “Simba is still home. Wake him there are any problems.”
no subject
He nodded with a short affirmative noise, going to sit back down on the bed. He didn't think there would be anymore problems for the time being, but he would be sure to keep an eye on everything. "I hope you all have a good time," he said with the smallest of smiles.
