The office is open [active]
Character(s): NPCs! People registering for citizenship!
Content: Register for citizenship!
Setting: Former Clan Centurio [I8]
Time: Week 18, all week, morning-evening :D
Warnings: None for now
Thread format party-style. Each person comments separately, and Rosemary will deal with each accordingly :D
And there is actually an application/form here that the mods will receive.
Last minute preparations were complete and the doors were now open to take in any guests that wished to register with the city. This was a bit step for the city, but it was out of necessity that they needed to take it. Within the building there were some natives moving about, but for the most part, the lone secretary sat at a desk, a pile of papers besides her, a quill in hand, and she waited.
At the very least, she knew to expect some... people already. People and meerkats.
Rosemary sighs.

With a toss of her head to settle the still floating tendrils of her hair, Urd put her hands on her hips. "Hey, I remember you. You were at the golf tournament! How've you been?"
no subject
"Hello, thank you for your interest." A beat, and then she replies, "Busy."
no subject
"Anyway, I refuse to write down my age or weight. That's personal, you know?"

She'd expected the stares. She always got stares when she walked around in this body and that was no different. Hopefully, the woman in charge wouldn't pass out or crick her neck staring up at the 9'6" tall Avatar.
"I'm here to register," she told the woman as she stopped in front of the desk. It still amazed her how small everything was in comparison to the Avatar body.

The meerkat scratched his head and took a few more steps back. No, she was definitely not like anything he had seen before. What could possibly be that tall? Just looking at her made his neck hurt. Maybe if he spoke to it it would lower itself for him to get a better look at it.
“What are you?” he blurted out from behind Tirea.

She was about to return to asking for her form when it occurred to her to look down. So she did. And she spotted a meerkat behind her. Wow. It had been years since she'd seen one of these things and that had been... she couldn't even recall. Elementary school field trip maybe? Regardless, she figured she could answer, even though the concept of a talking meerkat was... beyond strange.
Maybe today was a dream and she'd wake up back on Pandora.
"I'm called a Na'vi. I doubt you've ever seen anything like me before."
Trying to look down at the creature made her neck hurt, so she knelt down to look at him a little better. "Been a long time since I've seen a meerkat."
no subject
Timon looked over the Na’vi a second time before he replied. “No, I haven’t. The closest species I can think of is human but, even then, I don’t think humans grow that big, or grow tails, or turn blue. Well, no unless they hold their breath a really long time…” The meerkat paused for a moment, as though to consider that thought before he looked up at Tirea again. “You’re not holding your breath, are you?” he asked, just to be sure.
If she knew what a meerkat was, did that mean she was from the same world as he was? If so, how come he had never seen, never mind heard any mention of her species before? Even humans, which he had never seen until Paixao, were at least a myth. “So you’ve seen one before, hu? That’s a first. Where you from?”
no subject
"Nope. I'm not." Had Grace been herself at that moment she probably would have wanted to give Timon a nice flick and send him careening to prove her point. Instead, Tirea blew out a bit of air at Timon to show that no, she wasn't holding her breath. To him it would probably smell badly, even though she'd taken to brushing the Avatar's teeth here.
Whether or not he could remain standing through the quick assault was another matter entirely.
"I've seen pictures of meerkats," she corrected quickly. Must play the part of a Na'vi. "I'm of the Omaticaya clan from a place called Pandora. Humans came and tried to show us many things. Meerkats were one of the things they wanted to teach us about."
no subject
“They ever show you any pictures of toothbrushes?” he asked Tirea, rubbing his head after he had recovered from his fall. “Tic Tac’s or Big Red? Yeesh! You could knock a guy out with breath like that. Phew.” Timon fanned his paw in front of his face before he continued. “This Pandora place ain’t anywhere near the Pride Lands, is it? And these humans, barely any of them know what a meerkat is, let alone to teach ‘em to another species. Not that I blame them. We are pretty important; a smart, beautiful, and overall perfect species. Still, that doesn't really sound like them...”
no subject
She pulled back a bit so she wouldn't be up in his face again. "Not that I know of. Never heard of the Pride Lands myself, but I know they're not on Pandora or Polyphemus. Which means it's likely back on Earth somewhere-" Like Africa. "-which means it's six years' travel time away from Pandora and the Na'vi. As for the humans, they're familiar with meerkats. That's how I know about them."
no subject
Timon paused for a moment to consider Tirea’s words before he spoke again. “Whoa, whoa, wait! Hold it. What do you mean six years' travel time away? You’re not sayin’ it actually takes six years to just get there, are you? Six years for what, a tortoise? How slow have you gotta be walking to take that long to get somewhere?” The meerkat did not like the idea in the slightest. Six years to walk somewhere. That was half his life right there! Did humans and Na'vi's have that much time to waste just walking around from place to place?
no subject
The Na'vi woman sat up again, peering down at the tiny little meerkat. "So don't tell me you're here to register, too."
no subject
“Yeah, I’m registering so I can run for mayor. How about you? You running for office at all or just applying for the benefits?”
no subject
"Mayor...? Really now. A meerkat mayor?"
...Oh this was precious. "Just sounded like a good idea at the moment."
no subject
Naturally Timon left his wild desire to be the next Mr. Moneybags out but it surely was notable regardless. The fame, the fortune, the power. He wanted it and he wanted it bad.
“I got your vote, right?”
no subject
...On second thought, it really was swimming. Shit. She remembered quite clearly what had happened the last time she'd felt like this here.
"Sure thing, kid," she replied, moving to stand up again. "Not to break this meeting short, but I need to get this application filled and myself back home."
Hopefully she wouldn't come crashing to the floor before that happened or else she'd end up crushing the meerkat, a desk, and likely a secretary.

He didn’t understand what her sudden hurry was and would have held her up longer but he could Vyers calling him. Normally he would no problem ignoring the demon but on this particular occasion it could actually be something important he was being called for. The meerkat groaned. Vyers always did have the worst timing. At least he had this Nani or Nali or whatever it was she called herself convinced to vote for him.
“I gotta go to, Vyers is calling me.” He said with a sigh. “Nice meeting you though. Glad to hear I have your vote. See you around!”
no subject
"Take care, kid," she told the little meerkat as she passed by on her way home. With any luck at all, she'd make it back before the mindlink wore off, but it was for that reason that she hurried off, not stopping to see if Timon would respond again.

Rosemary hands the creature the paperwork and a utensil that may not even properly fit Tirea's hand, but she hadn't prepared for anything so large.
"Thank you for your interest. Simply fill this out and we will get you a certificate shortly after." She directs a hand behind her at various desks where other natives were standing around keeping watch. Although Rosemary frowns and glances back at the creature. Well, maybe only wall space would suit Tirea. "One of my assistants will also take your picture."
no subject
Which was exactly what happened. The Avatars weren't quite as strong as a regular Na'vi, but they were still stronger than anything a normal human would be used to.
Tirea waited for a second pencil to arrive and this time made sure she didn't break it. The process was tedious, but finally she managed it and offered the paper back to... Rosemary? Whoever this was.
"All right, who wants my picture?" Ugh... pictures.

But this was a minor inconvenience, so he had supposed he would indulge Timon for now. He wondered whether or not he should go ahead and sign up himself while he was here. Anything that would lower the cost of living would be a welcome addition, though he wondered who exactly all this information was going to. He stood in line, arms crossed as he idly tapped a finger against his forearm in thought.

Knowing Vyers, they could be standing there forever simply because he wanted to be polite. The meerkat sighed. “If you want something done right, you gotta do it yourself. Hang on, Vyers. I’ll take care of this.” He said before he stomped ahead to the front of the line, simply weaving himself between the feet of those ahead of him. “Excuse me!” he called out. “Move it! Make room, make room. Watch it, Twiggy. I'm walkin' here!”
no subject
He parted his fingers and peered between them to get another look at the line. Well... he could always make the excuse that he was just keeping a close eye on the meerkat (which was something that needed to be done anyway).
Vyers cautiously weaved through the line, following the meerkat's trail as best as he was able and muttering preoccupied apologies under his breath.
