It's a Cool Pool Party! [Completed]

Character(s): Everyone! Come on down~
Content: Urd throws a pool party at Jogo da Crianca for everyone to enjoy.
Setting: Jogo da Crianca pool!
Time: Noon until night.
Warnings: Probably none. Maybe blatant fanservice of all the sexy (and not so sexy) characters.

It's been too long since the citizens of Paixao made use of the fairly impressive pool at the park. Like all of the landscaping and architecture of the city, the pool seemed ancient, almost in its appearance, wide and large and full of clear, glittering water. Equally sparkling trees provided shade all around the perimeter and comfortable outdoor chaises (made more comfortable by extra cushions today) and picnic tables dotted the area through out.

For the event, colorful balloons had been created and now floated peacefully in place as if held by an invisible hand. Crepe ribbons were strung from tree to tree and tiki torches, waiting to be lit once the sky started to darken, held their vigil in strategic points around the pool. Two long tables have been spread with snacks made by Belldandy and Genie, so they're sure to be the most delicious cookie/sandwich/chips you've ever had.

Most importantly, in one far corner of the area, a karaoke station has been magically created by Genie. The television is 42 inches, flanked by two 15 inch speakers. Four microphones and stands are available for any party goer to belt their favorites out. To add to the mood, there's even a disco ball above the microphones, hung from the nearest tree!

Don't have a swimsuit? No problem! Urd, Belldandy and probably even Genie will summon up something for you quicker than you can say "sudden public nudity." Be warned, though...each has their own sense of style and may end up dressing your character in something less than dignified.

Unbeknown to any of the guests, a special and invisible barrier has been set into place by Belldandy. This warding field will not allow any Heartless to enter the party, should anyone decide to summon them. Not that they would, though, right? This is a sunny, happy day!

What could go wrong?

OOC Notes: Much like the other large group logs here, this one will work via several small threads that people start in the comments. Everyone is free to jump into someone's thread, provided they don't have a note in their subject line claiming the thread is private (which you're totally allowed to do). Keep in mind that this party was created for characters to develop CR with more people, so don't be afraid to mingle!

"Oh!" she exclaims, lighting up. "But that sounds pretty neat. You must be able to help out a lot of people in the city then, yeah?" People in need plus small-scale jobs? They probably turn up all over the place. The Doctor'd appreciate Tanaka, probably.

They all like helping people, after all. Even in the smallest of ways. Sometimes, Rose thinks, those are what matter the most.

Tanaka sighed slightly. "Well. Yes. Or, I've been trying. My attempts to help out around the city haven't been all as productive as I would have hoped... That's why I've come here, I suppose. A little relaxation to try and clear my head." He adjusted his cap and glanced away, frowning a bit. The topic wasn't the warmest for him at this given moment; the more proud he was of his job, the more it stung to think of how little he'd done in the time he was here.

"Everyone does what they can, though," he added in hopes to rearrange the conversation. "This city benefits from all sorts of people's work, I've found."

When his face fell, she couldn't help but want to smooth things over again. She nods in agreement; this city does benefit from a lot.

"Well I'm sure you're doing alright. Although, relaxation is great and all. But, oh, I donno, couldn't you get help in your assistance? Or is it just a solo mission?"

Tanaka shrugged. "I'm used to the support of my team back home, but... you know, it requires a rather specialized skill set. I'm not sure how many people around here are experienced in handling the human spirit." He paused. "Or... whatever being is being worked with. There's certainly a higher percentage of nonhumans around here." It was a very nonchalant comment. He was a bit tired of making a big deal out of it.

Oh, so it wasn't as simple as she first thought. "'Handling the human spirit'? What's that supposed to mean?" she pauses, then looks down, chuckling slight. "Sorry, I don't mean to ask so many questions. 's just interesting sounds, that's all. I doubt even the Doctor's heard about this skill you're talking about."

[identity profile] upgrade2hat.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 04:35 am (UTC)(link)
The term 'doctor' put Tanaka at slight unease. "Aha. Yes, there are few doctors who are aware of the ability. I had to get my eyes checked more than once." He prodded his glasses. "For more than the obvious reasons."

The cheerleader gave a small pause, remembering some of the awkward moments, before shaking it off. "Anyway, it's nothing so fantastic as it sounds. I just... it's a sixth sense, in a way, letting me see a person's spirit, and how to encourage it, inspire someone to get through difficult tasks that they need a little more willpower for."

[identity profile] amthebadwolf.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 05:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Oh! Well, the Doctor isn't actually a doctor... though I'm sure he could manage it. He's a guy who's seen most things in the universe." Except a city like Paixao, because they still didn't know how to get out of the city. Or... people like the Organization, and the Heartless, Lumens...

But he liked not knowing things, right?

"You'd probably get along, actually." She shrugs.

"Many doctors think they've seen most things in the universe," Tanaka replied with something halfway between a grin and a grimace. "I'm sorry. I know what you mean." He paused. "I suppose. It's hard to know how exactly what people mean around here. Are you being actually literal in that?"

[identity profile] amthebadwolf.livejournal.com 2009-10-21 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
"What, literal in meaning that the Doctor would like you?" she asks, brushing back her hair as she looks at him with confusion. "Admittedly, he likes most people. Or at least he tries to. But yes, I'm being literal." She grins lightly. "Presuming that's what you were referring to, 'course."

Tanaka blinked. Ah, he'd been rather vague, hadn't he? "No, I meant--" He paused and thought it over. "Never mind." It didn't really matter, all that much. Not right now, anyway. "I must admit, hearing that there's someone who gets along well with most sounds refreshing, in comparison to a lot I've been meeting." The cheerleader glanced around. "Is he here?"
