It's a Cool Pool Party! [Completed]

Character(s): Everyone! Come on down~
Content: Urd throws a pool party at Jogo da Crianca for everyone to enjoy.
Setting: Jogo da Crianca pool!
Time: Noon until night.
Warnings: Probably none. Maybe blatant fanservice of all the sexy (and not so sexy) characters.

It's been too long since the citizens of Paixao made use of the fairly impressive pool at the park. Like all of the landscaping and architecture of the city, the pool seemed ancient, almost in its appearance, wide and large and full of clear, glittering water. Equally sparkling trees provided shade all around the perimeter and comfortable outdoor chaises (made more comfortable by extra cushions today) and picnic tables dotted the area through out.

For the event, colorful balloons had been created and now floated peacefully in place as if held by an invisible hand. Crepe ribbons were strung from tree to tree and tiki torches, waiting to be lit once the sky started to darken, held their vigil in strategic points around the pool. Two long tables have been spread with snacks made by Belldandy and Genie, so they're sure to be the most delicious cookie/sandwich/chips you've ever had.

Most importantly, in one far corner of the area, a karaoke station has been magically created by Genie. The television is 42 inches, flanked by two 15 inch speakers. Four microphones and stands are available for any party goer to belt their favorites out. To add to the mood, there's even a disco ball above the microphones, hung from the nearest tree!

Don't have a swimsuit? No problem! Urd, Belldandy and probably even Genie will summon up something for you quicker than you can say "sudden public nudity." Be warned, though...each has their own sense of style and may end up dressing your character in something less than dignified.

Unbeknown to any of the guests, a special and invisible barrier has been set into place by Belldandy. This warding field will not allow any Heartless to enter the party, should anyone decide to summon them. Not that they would, though, right? This is a sunny, happy day!

What could go wrong?

OOC Notes: Much like the other large group logs here, this one will work via several small threads that people start in the comments. Everyone is free to jump into someone's thread, provided they don't have a note in their subject line claiming the thread is private (which you're totally allowed to do). Keep in mind that this party was created for characters to develop CR with more people, so don't be afraid to mingle!

"The rules for you and me are different in that regard! For you it is fine, but for me it would be obscene," Vyers attempted to explain. He paused a moment, bringing a hand to his chin as he tried to think of an easier explanation, one that Timon would understand. "Would you go out in public if someone shaved off your fur?"

Timon looked appalled by the demons question. The thought that anyone would so much as dare commit such a crime was outrageous. He took great pride in his fur, balancing his diet and grooming it daily to ensure that it kept both its healthy shine and softness. Not to mention the time he took to pluck out every grey strand of fur he could find.

“Not a chance!” the meerkat blurted out. “But that’s completely different! You can’t compare clothes to fur. Fur to hair, yes. But clothes? Not a chance! Would you go out in public if someone shaved off all your hair? You don’t even have to answer, I know you wouldn’t. THAT is more accurate.” Timon sighed and brought a paw to his face. “Of course you know what this means; now we need to find you some fur.”

One horrible image after another! Was Timon trying to scar him for life? The idea of him being b-ba... He couldn't even bear to have it said in prose! And now he suggested he have fur? "You are missing the point again!" Vyers would have to rethink this, it seemed. If the truth was not sufficient, then perhaps there was some sort of illness he could cite.

And then the host of the party arrived. That was right. Urd was the one who had set this up, wasn't she? Vyers could only hope he didn't end up in another unfortunate situation because of this. "As I have been trying to say, I do not have one. I refuse to swim with these clothes on and those sold in the city itself are of awful taste."

Startled by the goddesses sudden appearance Timon jumped back. Well, she certainly knew how to make an entrance, didn’t she? The meerkat frowned. The idea that she had managed to sneak up on them so easily was not one he particularly liked. Who did she think she was? Actually, who was this hag? He tilted his head to the side and observed her curiously. There was definitely something familiar about her. Maybe it was her voice. He had spoken to her over the journals before, hadn’t he? Yeah, that had to be it.

Joining the demons side, the rodent rolled his eyes and casually leaned against his leg. “Yeah, what he said. I told him to just take his clothes off but he thinks everyone is going to be offended or something. I think he’s just shy and just doesn’t want to get his hair wet but what do I know. Anyway, he said, or it at least sounded like he said, he needed fur. Where he’ll find a coat his size though is beyond me – no offence, Vyers. I ain't sharing.”

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-10-08 10:25 pm (UTC)(link)
Vyers heaved a long-suffering sigh. "That wasn't what I meant. I was attempting to give a proper analogy to try and make you understand." It wasn't his fault Timon had misinterpreted his statement. "Why in the world would I want that? I look perfectly fine as I am." Save for the lack of of proper swimming wear, but that couldn't be helped.

Or could it?

He wasn't sure whether or not to be offended or simply embarrassed by Urd's comment, so aside from a quick look, he said nothing in response to it. The following question, however, he immediately took interest in. That certainly made things a lot easier, didn't it? "Hmm... Red would be quite nice," he agreed. Would not black as well? But, as Urd had said, red was far more passionate. "Red," he decided.

Timon didn’t understand what Urd meant by that but was not about to argue with her. As long as she got Vyers up and into the pool he was happy. If getting the demon this ‘swimsuit’ thing he had complained so much about was what it took, so be it… But really, how could there be too much fur in the pool? What was that supposed to mean, hu? Was she insulting him? He pressed his lips together tightly, deciding to correct Vyers’ in regards to his far from perfect appearance after the goddess left. No use starting another argument when the first had yet to be solved, at least in this case.

“Red?” he repeated, unable to restrain himself from commenting. The meerkat made a sour face. The image of the demon dressed head to toe in the colour did not pass as an appealing one. Of course, what Timon imagined a swimsuit to look like was far from what passed as one. “Red is a little bold for him, don’t you think? I thought we didn’t want him to stick out.”

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-10-09 03:33 am (UTC)(link)
Vyers could only stared down at himself in shock and horror. What in the world was this thing she had put on him?! It was... It was... It was an egregious sin against nature! The demon's hands immediately flew to cover himself as he shrieked out a desperate "Change it!"

Why had he even agreed to come?

Well, she was just full of surprises, wasn’t she? At the sudden explosion the meerkat skittered back and hid underneath one of the many pool chairs. He peaked out from behind its leg, worried for the demon. However, once the smoke cleared he was relieved to find the Dark Adonis still in one piece. He turned his glance back to Urd wearily. If she intended to keep this up he couldn’t see things working out between the two of them. This was already the second time she had managed to startle him and in all honesty it was beginning to irk him. She was making him look bad.

As for Vyers, well, he appeared a lot less clothed than he had a moment ago. With no trace of his clothing, the rodent wasn’t quite sure what to think. As for his current condition, he failed to see what the problem was with… Whatever it was the demon was wearing. It was at least some sort of article of clothing, right? He wasn’t completely nude. What was he getting all upset about?

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-10-09 08:19 pm (UTC)(link)
To say the demon was less than pleased with this entire situation would be a horrible, horribly understatement. How could neither of them see the problem with this? And citing his sense of fashion as inspiration was hardly an excuse. "There is a difference between that and this!"

And if she was going to pick something like this, could she not have at least picked something more subtle?

“I think he’s going to whine like a baby until he gets his way.” Timon replied without a beat. “Actually, I know he will. That makes it even less likely he’ll go in the pool.” The meerkat shook his head. It probably didn’t appear so but he was doing the demon a favour. Why however remained a mystery, even to him. Hopefully he wouldn’t make a habit of this behaviour; helping Vyers just wasn’t the cool thing to do these days. “Like I said, red isn’t his colour anyway.”

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-10-14 02:43 am (UTC)(link)
"Boring? It's hardly..." Well, he would readily admit that it was rather plain, but it was infinitely better than the thing he had been wearing before. "It looks much better, in any case."

He hesitated, wondering whether or not he should go ahead and say it, but finally, with a huffish turn of the head he said "At least now you have given me a proper swimsuit to wear."

Timon didn’t quite understand how Urd had managed to change Vyers’ bathing suit so fast but he could immediately tell the demon felt more comfortable the new one. He had to admit, the goddess was right; black was boring but at least it would make Vyers happy. Not only that but kept red his colour. “I don’t see much of a difference other than the colour.” He said, climbing out from beneath the chair he had been hiding under. “This one just shows a little less skin. But if this one works can we go swimming already?”

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-10-20 04:33 am (UTC)(link)
Vyers watched Urd walk away before his gaze slid back to Timon. "I assure you, the difference is much greater than that," he muttered under his breath before addressing the meerkat's question. "I suppose I could for awhile," he conceded. "Though I don't see why you could not have gone in yourself if you wanted to swim so much."

At least the water looked inviting. Hm, perhaps this would be a good opportunity to relax after all.

The meerkat made a sour face at the demon. “Go in by myself?” he asked, “You’re kidding, right? I mean, everyone knows it’s not nearly as fun by yourself as it is with another person. I guess ‘everyone’ doesn’t include demons. They’re not nearly as clever as everyone else.” Timon explained, mumbling the last part to himself. “Now quit whining and jump in already. Otherwise everyone’s going to know how big a wimp you are to run from our competition.”

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 04:44 am (UTC)(link)
"How can one possibly have competition at a pool party?! And I am hardly a wimp. As I said, I have no qualms with swimming now, as my clothes are... somewhere." Come to think of it, where did his clothes go? And should he be worried?

He headed toward the shallow end of the pool, wading in before lazily turning to float on his back. Ah, but the water felt so nice~ Getting in the water might have been a good idea after all. "See?"

[identity profile] cowardly-hero.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 05:36 am (UTC)(link)
“Simple.” Timon replied while he waited for the demon to climb into the pool. “It’s called a cannonball contest and we’re going to have one. No if’s, what’s or but’s about it. It’s so easy even you’ll get it. All you gotta do is make the biggest splash when you jump into the water and you win – or, I’ll win, I should say.” With Vyers just where the meerkat wanted him at this point, he jumped right onto him and settled on the demon’s chest. Similar to the man, he too laid down on his back, arms folded behind his back, and began to soak in the sun’s rays. Who needed an inflatable air mattress when they had a demon? He grinned and closed his eyes.

“We’ll even make a little wager on it, what do you think? I win and you have to buy me one of those silk blankets and if you win… Well, we know that’s not going to happen so let’s just not worry about it.”

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-10-23 06:52 am (UTC)(link)
"A cannonball contest?" he repeated incredulously. When had this been announced? The very idea was foolish! And he dare not get into Timon's notion that he would be the one to when in such a contest. After all, with such a small body, how could he possibly--

Vyers winced when Timon landed on him, sinking a little before managing to balance himself out again. The demon lifted his head a little to look at Timon, looking less than amused with the wager. "Need I remind you that you were the one to ruin my first?" he asked. "You have yet to provide recompense for that."

If it weren't for the display he would make of himself, however, Vyers might have been convinced to take the challenge. After all, how difficult would it be to beat the meerkat at a cannonball challenge? He thought about it to himself, gazing distantly at the dome's ceiling. "And you cannot very well offer a wager without telling me what I would win. Why would I take a bet without knowing that?"

They were only bed sheets, did it really matter? It hadn’t been as though he had actually earned the money he had spent on them in the first place. The demon could simply pull some leaves off a tree to purchase a new set. Leaves which were easily within his reach unlike some animals that required more work to retrieve the prized flora. Timon had to climb such trees and carry what ‘money’ he had in his arms where even a small quantity was trouble. No, as far as the blankets went, his guilt had long since left.

“That wasn’t my fault, it was Laharl’s. If he hadn’t of dangled me out the window and you had closed the window like I asked you too, none of that would have ever happened.” Unlike the demon, he did not bother to move to look at Vyers when he spoke. Instead, crossed one leg over the other and shifted into a more comfortable position. “Why should I be the one to pay for it when you and Laharl are both equally to blame? If you did somehow by chance happen to win this little contest though, I’ll get you some new ones. Whatever you want.”

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2009-10-25 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
By now it wasn't the loss of the sheets that mattered, but the principle of it all. Of course he could just go to the store and buy a new set, but he was not the one who had torn them up in the first place, was he?

Vyers continued to mull the idea over. On one hand, there was the potential for humiliation, on the other, the potential for victory and the fulfillment of his payback. "...Will you be able to get others to enter in this contest?" he asked. If he was to make a fool of himself, he would prefer to do so with other people doing the same, would it not?
