The Genie Golf Classic
Character(s): Everyone who entered into the tournament.
Content: GOLF!
Setting: Starts at Joutenheim outside the city and works itself back in ending at City Hall.
Time: Week 8, Morning
Warnings: Watch for flying balls ;)
"Good morning and welcome to the first annual Genie Golf Classic. It’s a beautiful day just outside the city of Paixao here on the mysterious but equally as gorgeous island. Unfortunately due to legal purposes it is to remain unnamed for the time being so for those of you watching our live feed at home put the maps away and find yourself another vacation spot. I suggest Abu Dhabi, someone needs to bring Nermal back home.
The sun is out and it’s hitting you at total of seventy five degrease Fahrenheit. Wind’s coming at you at three miles an hour, just south east with a relative humidity of thirty percent. Whoo! Hope you brought your sunscreen kids, it’s gunna be a hot one. For those of you who forgot to bring a beverage we do have a stand set up at the checkpoint with both free food and drink. That’s gunna be the sixth hole, just outside the Niflheim gate. Get ‘em while they last. Back inside the domes it looks as though we might be seeing some thundershowers this afternoon with a high chance of belligerent Org. members. Do be careful out there and don’t hesitate to call if you run into any trouble.
Things are about to get underway. We ask that all golfers that haven’t already please report to the first hole for full registration to receive maps, clubs, and more. The game will be underway in a few moments from now. So far we can look forward to seeing such notable personalities out on the green today as President Naja Salaheem of the Salaheem Sentinels and Urd, Goddess of Love. We also have the Doctor accompanied by his lovely lady friends, Jecht, Ivan, and more! Who will you meet on the green today?
Here’s a reminder for all you out there that the winner of today’s game will be awarded our super awesome ultra fantastic secret grand prize. What is it? Win and find out!
Before we begin a quick reminder of the rules is in order. We have a lot of new players with us today so we want to do our best to help play the game as well as enjoy themselves. It also never hurts to refresh yourself. A complete but brief explanation of the rules of the game can be found at the first hole along with all the necessary course maps. To be very, very brief, your objective for today is to get your ball into all the holes on the course using your clubs in as few swings as possible. Count your clubs before you begin; you are only allowed a total of fourteen. Also, remember to play the ball as it lies. This is very important. Respect your opponents and practise good etiquette. Most importantly HAVE FUN!
As a closing note, I feel I need not remind anyone that there is no tolerance for endangering another player’s wellbeing. Anyone who does so will face very strict and harsh penalties by me. If you run into any trouble on the course today don’t hesitate to summon me by either the alarm found on your cart or golf bag. I have several scouts spread out across the course and will also be patrolling the area to ensure safety to all our players.
Right! Now with that all out of the way, get out there, have fun, and buy a souvenir t-shirt!"
[ooc: All maps and information are posted in the ooc here. If you have any questions feel free to ask them there. Also, here is a useful guide to golf that might come in handy for those who are not completely familiar with the game like myself.]

First Hole: Joutenheim [K9]
The djinn in question could be found seated at a table directly underneath the two stone giants. Maps of the course, score cards, guides to the game, pencils, and novelty t-shirts are scattered across the long table while two large open tents are found to both his left and right. They contain both golf carts for player’s convenience as well as hundreds of clubs at their fingertips.
Behind the tents the first hole can be found, its flag waves in the distance. The grass has been neatly trimmed here, though cut much closer at the green by the hole itself. When teeing off one might notice the sign sitting along the side reading ‘Caution: Watch for Lumen Crossing’. Hopefully none would feel need to play with anyone’s ball.
Re: First Hole: Joutenheim [K9]
The goddess had definitely dressed down for the occassion, sporting baggy, low-riding jeans and a midriff baring faded t-shirt that was a little too tight to be decent. Even her hair was up in a ponytail, which was now bouncing with her energetic waving. "Ah! Genie!"
She floated closer, bare feet touching the grass as she perused the table's contents. "Wow, you really went all out, didn't you?" she chuckled. With a wink at the djinn, she snapped her fingers, the faded design stretched on her shirt changing to match the shirts on the table.

Rosemary wasn't entirely sure of the game itself, but she was not against learning. She finds herself not far from the exceptionally bubbly woman, wondering who she may have been. Perhaps she would be a good one to follow through this event? If the woman didn't mind, of course.
"Excuse me," Rosemary says as she approached the woman, "do you know a lot regarding this game? It isn't something we've seen in Paixao before."

Re: First Hole: Joutenheim [K9]
Realizing he had been staring he smiled in return to her enthusiastic greeting and waved in return with a laugh. “Glad you could make it out, Urd! Hoping to win that super awesome ultra fantastic secret grand prize, hm? Let me tell you, there’s some tough competition out there. Hope you’ve been working on that swing of yours.” He shared a wink with the woman at this, shortly followed by another laugh at her comment. “I can’t help myself. Besides, if you’re going to pull something like this you’ve either got to go all the way or not do it at all.”
“Now, to officially enter into the competition I’ll need you to fill out this form that just includes your name and signature signifying that you’ve read all the information on it regarding the rules and safety. You don’t have your own set of clubs with you, do you? I’m willing to lend you a set if you don’t along with your own golf cart.”

Re: First Hole: Joutenheim [K9]
...I donno if Donna is joining them or not :ODonna is \o/ And I think Tanaka was possibly gonna join them at some point, too, possibly..))Rose was pleased that they at least managed to get the Doctor out of the TARDIS, and they were pretty determined in getting him to play, too. How was he to resist his own daughter and two companions? He couldn't be that stubborn. ...okay maybe he could, but this was being hosted by the Genie. The Doctor couldn't deny that. She didn't even know if they met yet.
She claps at Genie's speech, then moves to pick up the stuff that they'll need for the game.
Re: First Hole: Joutenheim [K9]
“It’s great to see you again, Rose.” Genie said, offering the girl a clipboard and pencil over the table. “I hope all has been well. Things have been pretty rough in the city lately. Now, I’ll just need you to fill out this form; your name and signature signifying that you’ve read everything regarding the rules and safety of this event. Will you need to borrow a set of clubs or golf cart?

Her Sentinel better show up. Naja would need someone to drive the cart; like hell she was going to do it. And of course the other would handle the clubs as well... perhaps explain the game some... Yes. That seemed about right.
Naja chuckles to herself, tapping her mace against a shoulder. It would be interesting to see how this day played out...

Flying from the table, he approached the woman from behind, his hand reaching for mace. “I’m sorry,” the djinn spoke up. “But I’m going to confiscate that. No weapons are allowed on the course to ensure the safety of other players. You may have no interest in using it but it still serves a potential danger to others.”

Re: First Hole: Joutenheim [K9]
She browsed the various items on the desk, while eyeing the golf carts somewhat wearily. She was starting to get the general concept of the game from her perusing, and claimed a pencil and a couple score cards for herself. The t-shirts were rather tempting, too.
She looked around as a few others started to arrive, wondering if she would see anyone she recognized. A little friendly competition would make it that much more fun.

Re: First Hole: Joutenheim [K9]
Thus, he found the event with little difficulty (thanks to a certain blue crier) but rather a lot of surprise. He remembered the announcement, belatedly, and to a lesser extent what one was supposed to do there, but he wasn't sure he'd expected anything to come of it. Obviously, it had. He even thought he heard his name mentioned, but by the time he got close enough to the gate, it had passed and there was no way to be sure.
What was most surprising was the fact it was taking place outside the domes. For all the time he'd been here, Ivan had never actually set foot outside them. He'd always had the impression it was even more dangerous than the inside. Where he'd gotten that impression was impossible to say, but it held him in for a bit longer, hemming and hawing until his curiosity at last got the better of him. And even then he didn't leave, so much as snuck quietly past and hoped no one was looking.
He was only marginally less uncomfortable approaching the table where Genie sat, and glanced over his shoulder once before he got there. "Is this the, uh..." he trailed off.

hi Ivan, have a unique cat (I know you're on hiatus Kae but shhh)
Re: First Hole: Joutenheim [K9]
“All right!” he called as he approached. “They tell me I need some clubs!” he announced. He had already taken the liberty to read up on the rules of the game, thanks to the information provided. Get the ball in the hole? No problem. His accuracy was great. Of course, he wasn’t sure how good it would be across such vast distances as the holes were, but he was sure that it would work out. They didn’t call him sublimely magnificent for nothing, you know. Nevermind that he came up with the name himself…
“First place is as good as mine!”

Re: First Hole: Joutenheim [K9]
She wasn't sure what exactly 'golf' was, but with nothing to do she'd decided to at least have a look. Of course, she wasn't exactly any less confused about it. Metal sticks and small balls? It was all a bit of a loss to her.
The notion of possibly even trying to play hadn't crossed her mind. It wasn't exactly 'her style' to quote her missing companion. It was, however, at least something to look at other than her lonely hotel room.

Second Hole: [J9]
Re: Second Hole: [J9]
The ball appeared on the tee and Urd bent over a bit, scowling slightly in concentration. She swung the club back and forward, stopping just in front of the ball each time before finally hitting it. The ball sailed in the air in a hard left, going diagonally across the green and landing way past the hole.
"Tch..." Urd muttered, a hand on her hip. Shrugging, she flew to the ball and began the arduous task of trying to get the ball into the hole...the first shot was too powerful and it sailed past the hole in the other direction. The next was a short putt that landed the ball barely closer. Another too-strong shot and the ball rolled past the hole.
Urd was now completely flustered. Shouting a few choice curses, she held her hand palm up towards the sky. Thunder boomed across the sky and lightening cracked down to the ground, melting the nearby flag pole slightly and causing the ball to jump up...and land into the hole.
She blinked, arm still stretched up above her head.

Re: Second Hole: [J9]
She may have been making progress with learning the game... but it was more frustrating than anything, and at the moment she was wishing she was a Black Mage so she could nuke a hole in the ground.
Maybe she should have invited the tarutaru along.
No. Bad idea.
Finally, she swept her eyes over the area, made sure no one was watching, then with a grin, nudged her ball along with a foot and guided it into the hole. "Ha! I'll show this rrrotten game."
Third Hole: [J10]

She glanced behind her, searching out the familiar blue of her magical rival and, seeing nothing, turned around and headed to the tee, excitement and determination lighting her eyes.

“It just had to be golf.” He grumbled after pulling himself out of his cart and managed to drag both his bag and himself onto the green. “What was wrong with ultimate Frisbee or cup stacking? Those are both fun. Those are both sports. Why did I pick golf, why?!”

Fifth Hole: [G11]
Sixth Hole: Niflheim [G10]
The hole itself is long but certainly easier than the last four. It is beautifully decorated in silver ice to look similar to the gate itself. Thankfully the ground is not covered in a sheet of ice as well or it may be considered a hazard to many players.
Seventh Hole: [H8]
Eighth Hole: [G7]
Ninth Hole: Jogo da Crianca [G6]
Tenth Hole: City Hall [J7]
