The Genie Golf Classic

Character(s): Everyone who entered into the tournament.
Content: GOLF!
Setting: Starts at Joutenheim outside the city and works itself back in ending at City Hall.
Time: Week 8, Morning
Warnings: Watch for flying balls ;)

"Good morning and welcome to the first annual Genie Golf Classic. It’s a beautiful day just outside the city of Paixao here on the mysterious but equally as gorgeous island. Unfortunately due to legal purposes it is to remain unnamed for the time being so for those of you watching our live feed at home put the maps away and find yourself another vacation spot. I suggest Abu Dhabi, someone needs to bring Nermal back home.

The sun is out and it’s hitting you at total of seventy five degrease Fahrenheit. Wind’s coming at you at three miles an hour, just south east with a relative humidity of thirty percent. Whoo! Hope you brought your sunscreen kids, it’s gunna be a hot one. For those of you who forgot to bring a beverage we do have a stand set up at the checkpoint with both free food and drink. That’s gunna be the sixth hole, just outside the Niflheim gate. Get ‘em while they last. Back inside the domes it looks as though we might be seeing some thundershowers this afternoon with a high chance of belligerent Org. members. Do be careful out there and don’t hesitate to call if you run into any trouble.

Things are about to get underway. We ask that all golfers that haven’t already please report to the first hole for full registration to receive maps, clubs, and more. The game will be underway in a few moments from now. So far we can look forward to seeing such notable personalities out on the green today as President Naja Salaheem of the Salaheem Sentinels and Urd, Goddess of Love. We also have the Doctor accompanied by his lovely lady friends, Jecht, Ivan, and more! Who will you meet on the green today?

Here’s a reminder for all you out there that the winner of today’s game will be awarded our super awesome ultra fantastic secret grand prize. What is it? Win and find out!

Before we begin a quick reminder of the rules is in order. We have a lot of new players with us today so we want to do our best to help play the game as well as enjoy themselves. It also never hurts to refresh yourself. A complete but brief explanation of the rules of the game can be found at the first hole along with all the necessary course maps. To be very, very brief, your objective for today is to get your ball into all the holes on the course using your clubs in as few swings as possible. Count your clubs before you begin; you are only allowed a total of fourteen. Also, remember to play the ball as it lies. This is very important. Respect your opponents and practise good etiquette. Most importantly HAVE FUN!

As a closing note, I feel I need not remind anyone that there is no tolerance for endangering another player’s wellbeing. Anyone who does so will face very strict and harsh penalties by me. If you run into any trouble on the course today don’t hesitate to summon me by either the alarm found on your cart or golf bag. I have several scouts spread out across the course and will also be patrolling the area to ensure safety to all our players.

Right! Now with that all out of the way, get out there, have fun, and buy a souvenir t-shirt!"

[ooc: All maps and information are posted in the ooc
here. If you have any questions feel free to ask them there. Also, here is a useful guide to golf that might come in handy for those who are not completely familiar with the game like myself.]

((...I donno if Donna is joining them or not :O Donna is \o/ And I think Tanaka was possibly gonna join them at some point, too, possibly..))

Rose was pleased that they at least managed to get the Doctor out of the TARDIS, and they were pretty determined in getting him to play, too. How was he to resist his own daughter and two companions? He couldn't be that stubborn. ...okay maybe he could, but this was being hosted by the Genie. The Doctor couldn't deny that. She didn't even know if they met yet.

She claps at Genie's speech, then moves to pick up the stuff that they'll need for the game.

Now, it wasn't that the Doctor didn't want to golf. He was generally a pretty good sport about things, and it wasn't very often he could say he'd been in a golf tournament put on by THE Genie. However, golf certainly wasn't really his game. Some fresh air though would probably be a good thing after crawling about the TARDIS trying to repair things.

The Doctor had plenty of pros and cons to this whole outing, truth be told.

Perhaps really he was just being difficult because of the way he'd been dragged into it. He'd been given no say in the matter by his trio of female companions. He'd said maybe, not no, but that still hadn't been good enough. The Doctor didn't like being ganged up on very much.

Still, he'd come along. He wasn't SO happy at the assumption he was playing, but he couldn't help BUT grin at the Genie who was speaking to Rose. It was the Genie.

Even the Doctor had trouble looking grumpy at this point.

Jenny had been excited since Rose had told her about this event, and seeing a...what was that blue guy called again? Genie? Well, he interested her. Obviously the Doctor and Rose knew who he was though. She could only wonder if he was someone famous on Earth. Of course, not being from there or having been there before, she had no clue. Still, she was excited about this whole thing. She had never played golf before, and she was hoping that it was going to be just as much fun as Rose had made it out to be.

The Doctor may have come a bit unwillingly, but really, he could not deny Genie and it was pretty obvious. Rose could only grin lightly to herself. Now he had to play - or at least that's what she was hoping, anyway.

"It's good to see you, too, Genie," she says with a smile, moving over to him. She takes the form, doing what was necessary. "It hasn't been too bad, despite everything that's been going on." She hands the form back to Genie. "We'll need both clubs and clubs."

Oops... totally missed the fact no donna = my turn =3=

By this point the Doctor was grinning from ear to ear. There was definitely no frown here. As the Genie chased after the beetle, the Doctor turned to his companions, laughing and looking just delighted. "It's the Genie."

Alright, so he didn't really regret coming along now. If at all. This was just far too brilliant. Oh, of course there was plenty better things he could be doing right now, but they could wait awhile.

Of course, the Doctor recognized the car too. Brilliant. But what was the Genie planning to do with him? "Uh, Genie! You don't have to..." Words died as the Genie took off after the car, and the Doctor looked back to the girls again, with an awkward shrug. "Well then."

The very moment the Genie went after the car, Jenny couldn't help but give her dad a questioning look at his words, and being the curious person that she was, she couldn't help but ask. Especially when her father seemed so excited about him. What was so great about this Genie? Sure, he seemed fun, but she way her father reacted was as if he was someone well known.

"Is he supposed to be famous or something?" She asked. She was obviously referring to the Genie.

"Famous? Oh, I suppose you could say that," Rose commented with a grin; tongue in cheek as she kept her giggling down at the Genie's antics. "I almost feel a bit bad for the car, though..."

Rose paused, thinking about it, and looked back towards Genie. Hopefully the car would be alright. "Genie's sort of an... icon from Earth, I guess you could say. One of the more popular ones." That sounded fair enough, the Doctor had to agree.
