Rain and Lightning and Sin [active; open]

Character(s): Sin and anyone who wants in on the fight
Content: Boss fight! In the rain!
Setting: L7
Time: early evening, while it's still raining
Warnings: Destruction, mayhem, and violence. And a hole in the domes.

In the past few weeks, the city had proven itself up to the task of eliminating the lesser Sinspawn, but it was time to show them the real power of Sin. It was time to start bringing death to this world and those who inhabited it. Whether they belonged here was of no importance. They suffered here just as they would suffer wherever they had come from; where they were released from their suffering was of no real importance. All he needed to do was attract a bit of attention.

Which Sin itself was admittedly doing, by virtue of being a large electricity based creature, but the rumbling of thunder above the domes had given him an idea. After all, Sin was providing a far amount of destruction already, and surely no one would mind if he caused just a little bit more. And it was a matter of little effort to cast a simple Flare at the dome overhead, shattering a fair amount of it to pieces. With luck the explosion would serve as a way to get people to head this direction and in the meantime Sin could terrorize and kill the general populace.

[Note: Since giant boss fight is likely to be giant, it'll probably be best to split this up into a bunch of different threads. Thread hopping is, of course, not only okay but encouraged, so hop in and have fun!]

Despite being engrossed in the melody, Hamel was paying attention to the fight at large and happened to notice his marionettes careening in towards a particularly nasty-looking storm. It was times like this he was glad that he was just the puppet master. Still, if they got wrecked in the fight he'd have to go find ANOTHER pair to use and he just didn't feel like doing that.

"Shit!" he yelled- and as he reached the end of the measure, he began to improvise. Halting the melody, he played one long, vibrating note-- the power of the music jerked the marionettes back from their charge and raised an impromptu shield around them. That would hopefully be enough to keep them from getting fried.

Sonic wasn't worried about the storm up ahead. He was pretty sure he'd get through it - he'd been through much worse, after all - and it was too late to turn back now, right?

Evidently the musician had different plans, as one long note vibrated in Sonic's ears and through his body, jerking him backwards, snapping him forcefully out of his spin and causing his ring to fly out of his hand.

"Oh m-"

He threw a hand out wildly, managing by sheer blind luck to snag the ring on one finger. He was about to turn and yell at the music guy to watch what th' heck he was doin' when the storm howled around him. Clenching the ring in his fist, he quickly curled into a ball again, waiting for the worst of the storm to hit-

- and waiting. And waiting some more. When he finally chanced a peek (a full two seconds later - for Sonic, that was being patient), he could see the storm full blast around him, but somehow it wasn't hitting him. Something had saved his butt twice today, and he couldn't say he wasn't grateful.

But he had other things to take care of, especially if he couldn't do anything with the storm around. "Knuckles!" he called, not even sure he'd be heard over the storm. "Buddy! Y'alright?"

Knuckles had grit his teeth and braced himself when he had seen what lay ahead; that did not look good, and he started to regret charging in like this. Still, there were surely people being hurt by this thing, whatever it was, and Knuckles had decided to devote his life to protecting something. As that something wasn't around, he decided to protect something else. It gave him a purpose, and maybe during the course of it he would be able to find his way out of here.

He made a sudden, choked noise as he felt himself be jerked back, unfurling from the spiny ball he had curled into. What the heck was that? And then Knuckles felt the music strike another chord within him, and felt a mixture of vague gratitude and not-so-vague annoyance. What was he, a puppet?

He shook the annoyance away, however, when he heard his friend call out to hi. "Yeah, Sonic! You?" he yelled back, giving the hedgehog a thumbs up with a smile, even as a frown furrowed his brow. How were they going to hurt this thing when they couldn't even touch it?

The storm subsided and Hamel went back into his song without missing a note, freeing the two marionettes from the shield. They were getting to the distance where he couldn't see them anymore, so he took a few steps forward, steadied the violin on his shoulder and ran after his marionettes, studying the terrain for a place he could get a better vantage point from.

There was a narrow alleyway up ahead-- Hamel got a running start and with an abnormally good jump, bounded up between the two walls and landed on the rooftop, still playing.
