Meetings and Movings [Active]
Character(s): Edward Elric, Pride, the Prinny Squad, and Sasori
Content:The Prinnies meet Pride and all five of them start out on a quest to find Al!
Setting: The Joutenheim Inn
Time: Morning
Warnings: Er . . . maybe language. And some insinuations. XD
Edward was asleep in Pride's bed yet again. He'd taken to sleeping there mostly because he felt bad about leaving him alone at night and the thought of spending the night with Pride and the prinnies was as frightening a thought as meeting Envy again in the form of a giant milk bottle. The blonde was sprawled on the bed as usual, the sheets kicked mostly off of him and his metal hand laying across the bared part of his stomach between his boxers and an old t-shirt, quietly snoring away.

Edward liked to starfish, he'd found out, hit in the head with a flesh limb. Since then, he'd lain closer, so he wouldn't get poked by the bony parts of Ed's wrist and elbow. But he only ever watched and listened, a questioning look on his usually blank face.
The other blonde liked to sleep a lot, when the streets got dark like Home and fewer people were out. But it was getting light outside; Pride could see over Ed's shoulder the way the sun lanced through the thin curtains over the window that looked out onto the main street.
His eyes focused on Ed's closed ones again, and he raised a hand, brushing his fingertips over skin- forehead, cheek, lips- to wake the other blonde.
no subject
"Let's go find Ed, dood," he whined.
For once, Bellatrix agreed, and the three snuck out of the hotel room they'd been in, searching for their blond companion.
no subject
"Mmm," he mumbled with a yawn, stretching his arms up over his head. "Morning already?"

That mystery was solved rather quickly when Freidrich unthinkingly put a flipper up to try the knob. The last thing he'd expected was for the knob to be unlocked and for the door to swing open, spilling all three Prinnies into the room, where they had a perfect view of their blond friend lying in bed with another man.
For several long seconds, silence reigned supreme. Then, finding silence to be unworthy of the crown, common sense rebelled and utter chaos took over the throne in the ensuing confusion. Keesling stared in utter shock, at least until Bellatrix had the presence of mind to cover his eyes. This left Freidrich, uninhibited by Bellatrix and her common sense, to let loose with a loud "DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD!"
no subject
"What the hell?!" He stood up, rubbing his head where he'd hit it against the nightstand, glowering down at the prinnies -- Freidrich in particular -- not understanding why in the world they were freaking out. "Would you shut up?! What the hell's the problem?!"
no subject
"Dood?" he asked uncertainly, and blinked.
no subject
Keesling, meanwhile, had discovered Pride. He waddled over to the newcomer and raised his flippers in greeting, answering Pride's question with a happy "Dood!"
no subject
"Yeah, I know," he said finally, irritated and watching both Keesling and Freidrich. "We were sleeping," well, he had been at least, "is there a law against that that I didn't know about?"
no subject
Hand raised, he touched the tips of his fingers to the end of Keesling's flipper. He glanced up at Ed, then back at the strange almost-penguin in agreement. "Edward was sleeping."
no subject
Bellatrix simply stowed the object in her pouch as though this sort of thing happened every day - which it did, really. She turned back to Ed, making sure of one thing. "So nothing happened, dood?"
Keesling had found himself fascinated with Pride. With a friendly little grin on his beak, he reached up and poked Pride's nose with his flipper. "Who're you, dood?"
no subject
"No, geez, nothing happened," he retorted, wondering why the hell he was explaining himself to the prinnies, "not that it'd be any of your business if it did."
He looked over at Pride and the third prinny and was glad to see that neither one of them was freaking out. "Guys," he said, brushing his hand over the other blonde's hair, "this is Pride. Pride, this is Freidrich, Bellatrix, and Keesling."
He'd gotten much better at telling the three apart based on their personalities since Freidrich was generally the one that did stupid things (like scream at the top of his lungs in a hotel in the early hours of the morning); Bellatrix was the more intelligent of the three, and usually shut Freidrich up with something heavy; and Keesling was the other one. Still, Edward looked over at the one he was sure was Bellatrix to make sure he'd gotten them right.
no subject
He could also tell the prinnies apart far better than Ed; he'd already picked the differences between them out. Returning the poke- on the beak, instead- he named them off, starting with, "Keesling."
Duck-walking, he moved over to the other two. "Bellatrix," Pride said, putting a hand up to stop her from hitting again. A soft pat accompanied the final name, "Freidrich."
no subject
Bellatrix took it more calmly, nodding to Ed to show he'd gotten their names right before turning to Pride. "Nice to meet you, Pride, dood!"
Freidrich, out cold, was unable to react.
no subject
"So guys," he asked, pulling on his pants and grinning quite happily considering what the day held in store for them, "how do you feel about going on a little roadtrip?"
no subject
Oh!
"Find Alphonse," he said, a rather good explanation for everyone, even if the prinnies (and Pride, for that matter) didn't know him.
no subject
Keesling, on the other hand, was simply thrilled at the prospect of getting out of the hotel and doing something. "Sure, dood!" he trilled happily.
Freidrich stirred, finally waking up from the double-whammy dealt to him by Bellatrix. See if he ever opened his beak again.

no subject
"Alphonse," Pride repeated, seeming to consider. Then, his lips turned up like Ed's, and his eyes squinted shut in a brilliant smile that almost out-shined Edward's.
no subject
Bellatrix once again remained the practical one. "That's a long walk, dood," she said simply. Evidently looking around on the journals when they had nothing else to do had been a good idea - she'd found something that might be able to help them. "Why don't we take the train, dood?"
Freidrich sat up and rubbed his sore head with a flipper. "Ow, dood..."
no subject
Edward thought about it for a moment while he pulled on his vest, imagining walking through the city with three somewhat loudmouthed penguins and Pride. Imagined them getting lost in some crowd and trying to find them again. "It's up to you guys," he said finally. "I don't mind walking, but if you'd rather take the train, then that might end up being easier anyway."
no subject
"Trains," he offered in thought, as he wondered vaguely if the big things were only meant for humans to use. After all, he didn't mind walking; that was what he had always done.
no subject
Thinking of what she'd read about the trains and just how big the city was, Bellatrix nodded. "It's probably faster, dood," she added.
Freidrich just kept on rubbing his head, trying to get rid of Bellatrix-induced ache. "Sure, dood," he replied distractedly, not entirely sure what it was he was agreeing to, exactly.
no subject
"Alright, the train it is," he said, finishing up getting dressed. "Matt said there wasn't much of a schedule, they just come by after a set time, so we shouldn't be waiting too long at the station." He grabbed his and Pride's journals and then looked around the room to make sure that he wasn't forgetting anything; his suitcase and coat were in the other room as well as his store of "money."
He didn't think there was anything else, so he looked over to Bellatrix and asked, "Is there anything you guys need to pack or something before we check out?"
no subject
"Trains to find Alphonse," he agreed, looking down at the prinnies as if he expected to gather them all up in his free arm and carry them.
no subject
Good.
Keesling, meanwhile, was much more excitable. "We're gonna ride on a train, dood!" he caroled happily, taking Pride's free hand between both his flippers. "This is gonna be AWESOME, dood!"
no subject
"Now just remember to keep together," he pointed out to all of them. "I don't want anyone to get separated and lost if it's crowded, okay?"
no subject
And he didn't like the idea of getting lost, anyway. He'd been lost before, and being found again had been the best thing that had happened. Ed's tone asked for a response, so Pride gave it, still holding one of Keesling's flippers and swinging it idly, gently back and forth. "Okay."
no subject
It was a little less than a mile to reach the train station, and the time passed quickly. The prinnies hadn't explored the city much, so they took advantage of the walk to dart from building to building and shop to shop, investigating and exploring, presumably for good tactical positions should a fight occur right in the middle of the street (hey, it had happened before) or just for good food.
The final place to explore was the train station itself and the prinnies spread out, giving the place a quick sweep and thoroughly startling both the man in the ticket seller's booth and the few people also waiting for a train. Finding it to be secure, they scrambled back to Ed and stood in a precise line that would have made any military man proud. "All clear, dood!"

So he crouched low and made his way free of the humans who acted as though they didn't even see him, and the only place that wasn't milling was a small section of the stairs of the platform.
Pride stopped, looking out over the heads of the thinning people, but didn't see Edward anywhere. No Edward, no Keesling or Bellatrix or Friedrich. And definitely no sign of Alphonse, which was who they were supposed to be looking for in the first place (not to mention that he wasn't even supposed to be in the train station, but wherever the train would have taken them.)
Quietly, Pride sunk to sit on the steps and out of the way of those who passed by, drawing his knees up and curling his arms around them. They were supposed to be looking for Alphonse; he wasn't supposed to be looking for Edward, alone. He let his eyes half-close, settling to look at the ground dully. He'd been left alone again, like Envy had done before he had come here and found Edward the first time.
no subject
Only then did Keesling realize somebody was missing. "Where's Pride, dood?"
no subject
He spotted a bench over by a waiting area and pointed it out to the prinnies. "You guys go sit down over there and wait for me, okay? And don't move until I come back. I'm gonna go find Pride."

Having had every reason to leave the crowd at the gate itself behind, Akatsuki's puppet master had found himself approaching the train station. The gatekeepers hadn't been at all helpful when questioned about leaving the city; with luck, the staff and schedules here would offer a little more information. He wasn't in any hurry, however---as much as he disliked making others wait (or waiting himself), he wasn't certain where to be, or who to ask. It was doubtful that any actions now would really speed his return, and he could afford to be curious.
He'd crossed a curious figure before long, too. Sasori paused, giving the boy on the steps a careful appraisal. He was reminded, to an extent, of his puppets. It had to be the expression; there would be the potential for something more, but even so....
Well. He hadn't been in any great rush. Sasori moved closer, shrugging a little to himself. "Hello?"
The boy's blank gaze turned up, almost like he was expecting someone, but Sasori wasn't exactly the person he did expect. The blank gaze seemed almost to fall; he looked saddened at the appearance of the Akatsuki.
Arms still wrapped around his knees, he simply watched, like he had always done. Obviously, he didn't perceive a threat from the dark-cloaked man. And he'd been asked a question. Everyone- Edward, too- liked it when they had their questions answered. Still, the wording was odd, so all Pride could offer was a soft, "Hello?" in response.
"Are you waiting for someone?" It certainly looked like it... Sasori folded his hands together, wondering just who if the answer was yes. He'd barely spent any time with his journal, so far, but he'd seen quite the variety of people on his way to the station, Paixao's citizens excluded. It seemed that almost anyone might be here, hopefully including his fellow Akatsuki members.
Pride looked away at that, almost like a flinch, and wrapped one arm tighter across his knees. He didn't know if he was waiting. Didn't know if Edward would come back for him. Maybe, though, if he told this person who they had been looking for... sometimes, people knew things.
"Find Alphonse," the homunculus murmured. "Trains to find Alphonse. But... gone."
A name was a start, the statement considered. "Gone...? Is there anyone else you're trying to find?" Who knew? It was always possible he would cross paths with this Alphonse, or someone who knew him. If he did, it would probably be best to have his new acquaintance at hand, to be returned, probably as a few questions were answered. That there was something off, there was no question... However, Sasori had met several disturbed individuals over the course of his life and this did not strike him as having any real similarities.
This time, Pride did bury his head against his knees, deadened eyes disappearing behind his gloved arms. Occasionally, he remembered, far back when he wasn't here- when he was Home- that sometimes the others would leave, and not come back for days or longer. Of course, they never stayed for long, anyway...
But Edward had stayed, and now he'd gone, and Pride did want to find him, but the new question was... did Edward want to be found? He supposed the best way to know was to actually find the other blonde; Pride couldn't stop him from leaving again.
"... Edward," he said, muffled against his knees.
"Alright..." This was half to himself, as Sasori mused over the possibilities. While he did have his own goals---namely, finding the other Akatsuki, if any were present, and finding a way back to base---he had no specifics, and he doubted that offering a little assistance would really impact the time it took to reach those goals. Besides... He was still reminded of one of his puppets, despite the conversation, and so more inclined to sympathy.
It was a course of action, at any rate, and one which would change the situation. "Would you like help finding Alphonse or Edward?"
no subject
He stared just briefly before standing; on the step, he was still shorter than Sasori, and his timidity almost made him seem even smaller. The blonde reached with one hand, brushing his fingers like a feather over the black sleeve of his cloak before taking his hand as though it was made of glass; Pride raised it and watched, like he was gleaning the meaning of its owner from it before his own hand fled as gently as it had come.
The barest amount of a step closer had Pride looking up at Sasori, the same hand this time on his cheek, tips of his fingers barely there, almost like sheer velvet.
There wasn't much of a comment to be made; he had expected only a nod or a shake of the head in response, when a response came. A handshake or similar gesture would've been understandable, but this… this was just odd. Sasori allowed it nevertheless. He didn't move, save blinking once and looking down at Pride, with a raised eyebrow and a questioning silence. There were questions to be answered, doubtless, although the chances of those answers coming---until Alphonse or Edward were found---were doubtful, at best.
Pride did just as he had done when he'd first been found by Ed; his other hand rose to match the first, and slowly, his fingers trailed lines down Sasori's face. Forehead, nose, cheeks, lips, chin, and stopped, the touch leaving just as it had come. One last, brief touch, with the flats of his palms to Sasori's cheeks, and his hands finally fell to his sides.
That simple set of motions was all Pride needed, it seemed. He watched Sasori for a brief moment before his feet carried him down to the next step and he simply leaned into the Akatsuki's chest.
The questioning silence broke off in surprise; it was quite a lot of contact, especially coming from a perfect stranger. Now, the puppeteer moved away, though he had a hand on Pride's shoulder, and his expression was neutral enough. "I expect that's a 'yes'." Tone was also neutral, almost amused and still curious. "We'll be looking for Alphonse and Edward; who are you?"
The homunculus looked up at him again, taking comfort even in the hand at his shoulder. At least he wasn't alone anymore, and the questions Sasori asked were easy.
"... Pride," he offered, along with a bare smile that belied he'd even been crying.
"I'm Sasori." In all honesty, he was also unsure of just what strange story he'd gotten into, but returned the smile regardless. He folded his hands, looking around the station and sighing a little; the people they were looking for could be anywhere in the city, by this time. "Do you have any idea where Alphose or Edward might be?"
"Sasori," Pride repeated lowly, glancing as the other did, around the station, as if that would help him answer. But he just looked back up and tried to explain in his broken way. "... Find Alphonse. Bellatrix, Freiderich, Keesling. Pride. Edward. Train... to... cafe."
...well, he hadn't expected more names, or so many, but should he cross any of those just mentioned, just now, he would know who to question. It was something useful, and Pride would be given due credit for his answers and efforts. "Do you know what cafe, or what direction it's in?"
Pride looked around again, as if the answer would pop out at him if he saw it. But nothing did, and he just looked back up at Sasori, the obvious answer in his silence.
no subject
Yeah, right.
"No way, dood!" Bellatrix retorted, all three prinnies hopping to their feet in upset unison. "We're not gonna sit around while you go look for him, dood!"
"He's our friend too, dood!" Keesling chimed in.
Freidrich, deciding he had little better to say, simply affirmed. "Yeah, dood!"
Not willing to hear any further argument, they stuck close to Ed as he searched for their lost friend, believing four pairs of eyes to be better than one. It was Keesling, looking in the right direction at the right time to catch a glimpse of blonde hair and red tattoos through the crowd. "It's him, dood!" he yelled excitedly, tugging forcefully on Ed's arm and gesturing wildly. "He's over there, dood!" Not waiting for a further response, he let go of Ed and motored off in the direction he'd indicated, bent on finding his friend. Bellatrix and Freidrich followed closely behind, not willing to lose any of the squad in the crowd.
no subject
"Pride, are you okay?" he asked anxiously, approaching the redhead a bit cautiously, not knowing what to expect from him, though noting with plenty of relief that Pride seemed to be perfectly fine.
no subject
"...Edward," he murmured, and fell against the blonde's chest, arms around his shoulders. "Keesling, Freidrich, Bellatrix. Came back."
no subject
no subject
Keesling was the first to recover and make his way over to Pride, throwing his flippers around the blond's waist. "Of course we did, dood!" He exclaimed at Pride's words. "We weren't just gonna leave you, dood!"
Bellatrix, following Keesling's example, waddled over and joined in the embrace, chorusing reassurances and making a big prinny group hug. Neither of them would admit it as openly as Keesling, but they'd both been worried about the homonculus as well.
Freidrich had other things on his mind. He looked quizically at the new guy Pride had managed to find. Lacking anything resembling propriety or tact, he simply tilted his head to the side and inquired, "Who're you, dood?"
no subject
"Sasori."
Now, of course, Pride didn't seem to be angry or sad or anything, really, about being lost, the feeling replaced with giddiness over being found, and finding a new person. He rather liked Sasori, even if it had only been a few minutes since they'd met; it was moreover the fact that the redhead had at least kept him company that he was grateful for.
no subject
Once Pride had gotten his fill of hugs, Edward turned to the young man that, from the sound of things, had been about to help Pride search for he and the prinnies. This he was certainly thankful for, but he was, of course, a bit wary. He offered the redhead a somewhat guarded but thankful smile and his hand to shake, "Yeah, that would be me, Edward Elric. Sasori, is it? Thanks for looking after him; we must've gotten separated in the crowd."
no subject
The prinny already answered, Sasori looked down at Freidrich with a raised eyebrow, passing the question back. "Who might you be? And what, if I might ask."
no subject
"Yeah, dood!" Keesling mirrored from over next to Pride. He seemed to have attached himself at the hip to the homonculus. "Thanks, dood!"
no subject
"Dood," he offered.
