May it Be [Completed]
Character(s): Tris, Ansem, Kadaj
Content: After meeting Simba, Tris goes back outside the gate to meet up with Ansem. She gets a bit of a surprise.
Setting: Outside Niflheim.
Time: After the Monkey-Leaves thread, Tuesday Night
Warnings: ...Ansem and Kadaj?
Tris had left the odd... lion-man, Simba, when her journal had alerted to her to a reply on the message boards. She knew what that meant, and made her way with all due haste outside, diverting the rain almost unconciously. Please, gods, let it be... Asaia Bird-Winged, please, may it be that I can accomplish whatever I need to, to see them again... She sighed a little, trying to calm the shaking in her hands.
Her, nervous? Never. She closed her eyes, taking deep meditation breaths. The weather-witch sank into her magic with hardly any focus at all, reaching out along her connection to the other three. There was nothing. She frowned and tugged at stray bits of power that had taken her momentary distraction to come loose.
Her daily meditation chore and catching-up for that taken care of, she opened her eyes, looking around. She batted at a spark. Stop that. I should be calmer than this.
Really.

Stepping through with Kadaj on his arm, Ansem peered over the rubble toward the gates to the city and easily spotted their quarry. Even had she not been readily identifiable on a physical level, her energy output made her stand out easily. The chill evening air was wet with rain, but the girl seemed to be easily keeping dry through magic. Very interesting.
"There she is, my love," Ansem said, putting one arm around the boy's waist as he pointed her out. "Would you care to lure her here? Once you bring her to me, I shall take care of the rest."
no subject
"Lure her here? Of course I can," he replied, smiling confidently. Extracting himself from Ansem's grasp, he gave him a small wink before striding towards the girl, head held high through the falling rain.
He stopped in front of her at a respectful distance and and asked in a teasing tone, "Looking for someone?"

Silver hair... green eyes... She extended her rain-sheild without much thought, the rain noticably rolling off of it like a glass dome were there, but it was open air... the rain just didn't fall in that area. "In a way..." she responded, nibbling nervously on the end of one of her lightning braids.
"...I was... well..." Tris paused, thinking. "I was in communication with someone over this... journal network, and he said he was looking for his brothers. You... er, well, you match the description I was given..."
She ruffled her dress some, compulsivley straightening the blue cloth, even though Sandry's spells kept it wrinkle-free and clean at all times.

He smirked at her anyway, too pleased at having a bit of an edge over her in this situation to bother hiding it. "I was the one who asked you about my brothers, actually. It's kind of surprising, really; I didn't anticipate meeting you so soon, or at least not until you had found one of them..."
A small frown marred his features, and in a slightly more hesitant voice he asked, "Have you found them, in fact? Either of my brothers?" This was definitely not part of what Ansem had asked him to do, to be sure, but if this girl had even the smallest idea of where his brothers might be, it was worth putting things off, at least for a little while.

"I actually agreed to meet... someone else here, through the journal system," Tris said. She paused, amused by a passing thought. "...I just realized. We... communicated through these journals, but we don't know one another's names." She was trying hard not to grin, amused by that. Instead, she offered a small curtsey. "I am Trisana Chandler, commonly called Tris."
no subject
He forced a bright smile upon learning her name, a little amused at her curtsy and sweeping into an elaborate low bow in response. That was probably a bit too over-the-top, but whatever, it was fun and he wasn't about to be outdone by this "Tris." "My name is Kadaj," he replied, slowly rising. "I don't have any nicknames, really, nor do I particularly want any."
A little more genuinely amused now, he looked over at her, gaze lingering on that curious sparking hair. "Here to meet someone? I might be able to help with that... You see, I've recently become acquainted with the very same person you're here to meet. He's already proven himself to be particularly adept at locating people, so there's no need to worry in that respect."
Kadaj remembered something from their earlier conversation, and in a slightly softer tone, he said, "He can help both of us find our families."

She paused, eyebrows raised in surprise. The sparks faded and vanished as her emotions went from self-directed anger to curiosity. Interesting, Tris thought.
She felt like someone had just shoved her magical self under a glacier when he made the comment about finding families. She could feel her chest tighten. "That's what I posted on the message boards about, before I conversed with you..." Tris said. "My family..." She stared at her shoes, thin, unpinned lightning braids doing nothing to hide the distinct expression on her face.

He tilted his head, examining her features. As much as he hated to admit it, that particular expression had crossed his own face quite a bit in his time here, and he grimaced very slightly now as the completely unfamiliar feeling of guilt crept up on him.
He shook himself a little, remembering his duty. "The sooner we find them the better, wouldn't you say?" he asked, inclining his head slightly in Ansem's direction, indicating they should head that way. She hadn't seemed to register his words about meeting him just yet after all.
no subject
Wasn't she just leading herself on? After all, if they were in range, she would know it. She didn't outwardly shake her head, but the intent was there. She sighed, quietly. Briar, Sandry, Daja... where are you? There was no response- it just echoed in her own magic, with nowhere else to go.
"Yes," Tris said. "So... why don't we go?" The grey-eyed mage looked at the spelled embroidery on the edge of her sleeves- indeed, the whole dress had the silvery sheen of Sandry's magic. It was comforting in its own way, but nowhere near as comforting as the presence of one of the others would be. The young mage kept her eyes fixed on the ground.

Ansem would be able to help, though, or at least Kadaj trusted that he would. Well, he'd be able to help Kadaj at least, but otherwise it was hideous experiments for Tris. How unfortunate.
Brightening considerably at these thoughts, he grabbed her hand before she could notice and started tugging her along, smiling back at her. "Come on~ we don't have all day! Stop being so mopey." After all... the real pain hasn't even begun.

The weather-witch followed, wondering if she could extend her barrier all the way to the other pale-haired man. Well, it was worth a shot. She followed Kadaj, biting the inside of her lip as she applied herself to it, reaching.
She cracked a large grin, looking around. It WORKED. HAH! Tris was getting better at this. Usually she only had to shield herself and maybe a couple other people, closer to her than Ansem was, but she did it. She felt a sort of pang that she couldn't brag at Briar over this, but shoved it aside.
I've done too much moping, latley. That's more Sandry than me.
no subject
He let go of her hand and moved to stand beside the two of them, expression smug again. It had been easy, just like he thought it would be, but he couldn't help but feel incredibly pleased with himself all the same. He sent Ansem a furtive glance, wondering if he would be praised for a job well done. That was probably foolish of him, sure, but it was nice to think about anyway.

Finally, his little peacock was leading her to him, looking very pleased with himself. The final presentation Kadaj made was charming.
"Trisana Chandler," Ansem said, stepping forward with a toothy smile. "How tired you must be after exerting yourself in fruitless effort looking for your siblings. Your search is ended now. Sleep."
On the last word, Ansem stretched out his arm to her, flinging a powerful spell in her face, and rendering her immediately unconscious. Gracefully he stepped forward and caught her on one arm before she could fall to the ground. Ansem tossed her carelessly over one shoulder and looked back at Kadaj.
"Well done, my love. Admittedly not much of a challenge, but we must amuse ourselves where we can."
He held his hand out to the boy so that they might return through the Gate to the laboratory together.

And as for Tris? What empathy he felt for her was unimportant and would probably fade soon anyway. There may be some lingering guilt over tricking her like that, sure, but she was no different from the others, now was she? They would all meet the same end anyway. It was just a matter of time.

Back in the laboratory, Ansem took a cursory look around to make sure Mr. Hojo had not reduced it to rubble in their short absence. Satisfied that things were generally as he had left them, Ansem moved to the far corner of the lab where he planned to store this subject. A special containment unit would be necessary, but first: restraints.
Electricity looked to be her specialty, and so he took the liberty of replacing her clothes with tight-fitting, insulated garments which left only her face exposed.
Curious about the stored energy in her hair, he carefully removed two braids for further study before insulating her hair, as well.
He then fitted her with a rubber collar like the one he had placed on the Nobody, effectively cutting her off from her own powers.
To make certain she could cast no magic, however, he shackled her arms behind her back and also shackled her ankles. Her cage, too, was insulated and made to contain any power she might be able to muster in spite of restraints.
Because he sensed earth was also within her power, Ansem constructed a floating platform within the cage, on which he lay her. He would make it as difficult as possible for her to make contact with any elements she might use against him.
Concentrated on this work, Ansem lost track of the time. It was easily over an hour before he was finished, and night was wearing on. He turned to see how his assistant and beloved were faring.
