Content: Misha and Danny decide to relocate for their own safety, and run into Valerie
Setting: Vanaheim [F3]
Time: Morning after this
Warnings: None yet.
It had been kind of an awkward morning, upon waking to find that she and Danny were sleeping in the same bed. Danny had spluttered something incomprehensible, but Misha had mostly just been confused by his reaction. After all, hadn't he said it was okay that she stay, especially after what had happened? And she'd been glad to stay, because she didn't feel all alone in a big room.
But through talking, they'd come to the conclusion that Dan might know where they were -- how else could he have gotten into Danny's dreams? And both of them weren't eager to experience something like that ever again. So they'd decided to leave the Acuta Are hotel, maybe even Vanaheim altogether.
Misha had gone back to her room to pack, not that she had many things. Only her pajamas, her uniform that she used to wear to school, and her To-Heaven box.
She was all ready, but she was a little afraid to leave her room now. Because her wings still hurt, she couldn't pull them into hiding, and she definitely didn't want to be walking around with them out. So she sat on the edge of her bed, kicking her legs a bit.

He stepped over to the doorway of his room and gave it a look over. It was a nice place while they had it, but he was sure the hotel management was starting to realise that the money for their room was nonexistant and that there was a decent possibilty that Dan knew where Danny was currently hiding. He didn't want Misha to get hurt because of that.
Having not seen the small Angel for a while he decided to head on over to her room to see if she was having any problems. Her wings were still fairly damaged even after the night was over. He was worried, and a little mad at himself for freaking out earlier again about her being in his room.
He neared her door and peaked in. He saw her sitting on her bed looking completely unsure of something. "Misha? Whats wrong?"
no subject
Her wings didn't hurt nearly as much as they had last night, as long as she didn't try to extend them too much. They draped behind her, casting soft white feathers on the bedspread.
"I'm..." she seemed slightly embarassed. "Danny-kun, I can't hide them yet'su..."
no subject
What were they going to do about that? Danny didn't want to risk them staying in the hotel much longer, but he didn't want Misha to have to walk around outside completely exposed. That would be the same as him going to school as Phantom. Something he didn't ever want to do.
Danny was at a loss for what to do. Again, he didn't know how long it would take her to heal.
Suddenly an idea hit him. He shook it away. That wasn't the greatest thing to do. He couldn't use his powers to make them vanish, that would blow apart all the work he had put into avoiding the whole subject with Misha.
But they needed to leave. Now.
Danny looked away from her for a moment, trying to think of the best way to approach this. He scratched the back of his head and looked back. "I...think I have an idea." He stopped and then, after a thought, he added, "Just...promise me you won't tell anyone about this okay?"
no subject
"An idea'su?" she repeated. She could definitely keep a promise though. "Yes'su, Danny-kun, I won't tell anyone'su. What is it'su?"
no subject
He closed his eyes and suddenly, Misha's wings vanished.
no subject
And then she took a closer look at Danny. Even though his aura had always been a healthy shade of green, right now it looked positively vibrant. "Danny-kun... you changed a little'su..."
no subject
Yeah it would probably look really wierd with them walking through town; Danny holding onto thin air behind Misha, but it was better than an injured angel walking the streets.
Danny wasn't sure to make of the "you changed" comment though. He looked at her, almost a little cautiously and asked, "What do you mean?"
no subject
Since she couldn't see her own wings, she assumed that no one else could either, and slid off the bed, trying to keep them close to her body. "So we can go now'su?" she asked.
As for exactly how Danny had done this? Well, she didn't rightly know! "Danny-kun," she said as they left their rooms. She remembered to bring her To-Heaven box. (That was good, she usually forgot stuff the first couple trips.)
"How did you do that'su?" she questioned as they walked out of the hotel.
no subject
The clerk was in an argument with a larger scarier looking man. They must have caught on to thier free room. Oh well, maybe they wouldn't see them leaving.
Heading our of the hotel, he glanced away from Misha nervously as she once again tried to address his powers. He sighed, he couldn't really avoid that now, could he?
"It's really complicated, Misha. It's just something I can do, like your Angel powers."
no subject
To Danny's explanation, she hummed thoughtfully. "But Danny-kun, you're not an angel'su," she said. "And... you're not a demon'su, right?"
He seemed to be looking around for something, peering inside the shops to see their contents, and so she started doing the same even though she had no idea what they were looking for. "Did you lose something'su, Danny-kun?"
no subject
She moved out of the soup kitchen and was plodding along effortlessly when she stopped and felt that burning she’d had before: it was much stronger now, and she felt her face growing flush. Wordlessly, she walked on, feeling the familiar heat getting hotter. She was close…she knew it somehow. Only an idiot would have ignored her intuition at the moment, and she chose to go with it. Unfortunately, that also meant she wasn’t really watching where she was going, and bumped into someone without really meaning to.
“I’m sorry…did I hurt…”
Her voice trailed off. The girl she didn’t recognize: she was a little small, pink haired and in her way looked cute. It was the boy behind her that made her stop. There was no mistaking him: worse for wear and awkward as ever, but she’d know him in a second.
“Danny?!”
no subject
He HOPED he wasn't.
Off in this pool of deep thought he didn't see Misha run into someone suddenly. He nearly toppled over the small girl but managed to save himself via the cobblestone and the grip on his shoes. He unfortunatly wasn't able to keep from bearing down harder on Misha's wings. Sorry, Misha, really.
Suddenly a familiar voice grabbed his attention as it shouted his name.
No, it couldn't be.
could it?
"...VALERIE!?!?"
no subject
The angel apprentice looked up suddenly as the person she'd collided with shouted Danny's name, and he answered with an equally excited reply. It was a good thing he was still holding onto her wings and keeping them invisible, though, because all the shouting was attracting the attention of the strange luminous people who were the city's natives.
"Danny-kun," she whimpered softly, when the pressure didn't ease up. She wanted to pull away but was afraid all these people would see her, including the new girl that stood in front of them and had called his name.
no subject
Valerie gently moved Danny away from the little girl so that whatever pressure he seemed to be causing was eased, and said in a loud voice, "Danny you idiot! Don’t you know how delicate little girls are? You’re such a guy!"
She jostled them aside, smiling broadly to the onlookers, and moved them forward. Whatever Danny had been doing before to the girl had lessened, but he hadn't lost his grip. Good. She could almost see the little girl sighing in relief. She moved herself right next to Danny’s ear and whispered, "We have a LOT to talk about, but right now let’s get away from all these people and talk. I haven’t been here long, but I think you guys have been, right? Where’s the best place to get away?"
Valerie’s eyes traveled to the little girl, and for a moment, she felt strangely protective of this perfect stranger, then shook her head and grabbed Danny’s hand, then the girl’s. "Lead the way."
no subject
How was that possible!?
Was there anyone else from Amity Park running around this place?
VALERIE WAS HERE????
And...she was steering him away from Misha some. Oh crap, he'd hurt her. Dammit! He was supposed to be protecting her! Geez Fenton want to screw something else up?
He looked back at Valerie when she spoke to him again. He obviously looked a little off than the usual Danny she knew. Wow, it really did sound so much like her. Maybe this was more than a dilusiion of his deteriorating mental capacity?
"Uh...the best place? ...I uh, we were looking for one actually....um" Danny studdered awkwardly, not knowing any other way to respond
no subject
This new girl, Valerie (since that's what Danny had called her) was moving them away from the busy street and down a much smaller one, where there weren't any people.
She understood that Danny couldn't very well keep hiding her wings, since it required a physical contact. But even though these two appeared to know each other, she was a little afraid of revealing herself to a stranger. It was one thing to talk about being from Heaven, it was another entirely to go flashing around a rather obvious pair of wings.
Wincing as she concentrated, Misha tried to make the wings grow intangible, but the pain stopped her. It's hurt'su, it hurt'su! Oww'su!
At least it was only the three of them around for the moment. Maybe Danny would know what to do.
"Who are you'su?" the pink-haired girl asked Valerie. "You know'su Danny-kun?"
no subject
She turned to the girl and saw she was in pain and silent cursed to herself. This is no time for pleasantries!
Without really thinking about it, she hurried the two of them farther and farther out of the more noticeable streets to where there were abandoned allies, and she leaned against the wall, sighing. She realized it was rude that she hadn’t answered the girl’s question, so she turned to her, smiling.
“Yeah, I know Danny. I guess you could say he’s the reason I’m here. Now you’re trying to hide something, but it’s hurting you, so why don’t you just relax now? No one will see us.”
She turned to Danny. “It’s me Danny, in the flesh. I’m here because I have unfinished business, I guess. I want to know what happened, straight from you. I know it’s painful, but it stinks having the only person left who cares about you wondering if you were dead or alive. So please…let me help you. You’re the reason I’m here.”
no subject
He looked down at Misha and silently asked her a: "What do you want me to do?"
He looked back at Valerie again. Some of the things she'd said had jarred him. He was stunned at first at a loss as to what to say.
She was here because of him?
no subject
She gave Danny a brave smile, nodding to show it was okay to let go of her wings. They were in an alley anyway. If Valerie did anything scary, Misha could just take Danny and fly away. Maybe. He was bigger than Kotarou-kun though.
When Danny let go of her wings, they became visible: downy white feathers. She'd actually had a bit of a growth spurt on them, back in Japan, and so they were actually a bit overlarge for the rest of her tiny self, although she'd grow into them. At the moment, however, it was easy to see that they were not at their best, looking rather tattered and on top of that, burned.
Misha huddled a bit, as though using them to hide herself from Valerie's reaction. She was about 3 seconds away from using them to cocoon herself, which Danny would probably recognize.
no subject
Valerie closed her eyes and crossed her arms. "I was just told money grows out of trees, and we’re in a place full of fake plants. You think this place surprises me anymore?" She shook her head, and then looked worried. "Yeah, you’re probably from another world, aren’t you? Just like us, except you don’t look like you belong here."
What was she saying? The little girl sprouts wings while all she had was man made equipment, and she was trying to tell her where she belonged? There was that…but something told her that there had to be something pretty mean to that to a little girl like her, and whatever it was, Valerie was already bothered. The next words out of her mouth hardly felt like her own, but she meant them all the same.
"It was…him, wasn’t it Danny? He did this to her. You know who I mean." Valerie’s expression changed now. She had no clue how that girl got involved, but that didn’t matter now. As long as Danny was with her, it might happen again. "Damn. I should have known."
Valerie looked at the girl again. It reminded her of how stupid she’d been, chasing after ghosts without rhyme or reason while people like her really needed help. No wonder Danny was wary about her seeing the wings. She must have seemed like an overzealous mad woman.
no subject
Well at least that was okay and out of the way. Maybe she wouldn't question how they were invisible in the first place.
Something caught Danny's attention.
"Him?" He blinked and then suddenly his face twisted in horror, "How do you know about Him!?"
no subject
Valerie shook her head. "You remember Vlad, that friend of your dad's? Well, he gave me the suit, and he was the only one I could think of that would help. So I did some errands for him, things I'd rather not talk about. In the end, I got the information I was looking for, and I learned about a powerful ghost that had done this to you. I knew he wouldn't stop until he'd taken everything away, so I..."
And here was where Valerie stopped. How could she explain how she got here when she barely knew herself? Intuition? Determination? Or that dumb theory sher wrote in that journal about feeling like her heart was connected to his? None of it made sense.
She realized that all while she was talking, the little girl was just watching them, looking at them quizzically. Valerie blushed, embarrassed she'd left her out.
"I'm so sorry! My name is Valerie Grey. Who are you?"
no subject
What was a Nasty Burger? What incident? And were those the names of the friends that Danny had said were in Heaven? Who was Vlad?
And how did Valerie know about Dan, and guess that was how her wings had been injured?
One thing was definitely clear to her, these two knew each other, and pretty well. And while that made Misha happy that Danny could have a familiar face around, it also made her feel a bit of something new: like she was out of place.
"Umm'su," Misha said as Valerie turned around and introduced herself. She was a little intimidated by Valerie's take-charge attitude. "My name is Misha'su," she replied. "It's nice'su to meet you..."
She looked at Danny for help.
no subject
Something wasn't quite right, though.
"That can't possibly be true, Valerie." He said rather abruptly. "I've only been in this town for two days." He looked up at her again. "Your talking weeks, months!"
It didn't add up, it didn't make sense. Valerie wouldn't lie to him either, would she?
Then a terrible thought rushed across Danny's mind. This wasn't Valerie at all. This was Dan in disguise, this was another ploy to mess with him and Misha. He suddenly gave her a derranged look and took a few steps back. He rose his hand up and pointed.
"You." He said viciously, with the look of a madman. he took one arm and tried to move Misha behind him some, the other that was pointing accusingly at Valerie began to glow with green fire.
no subject
Seeing he wasn't convinced, she decided to get a little defensive. "Look, if I were him do you think I would have even bothered to talk? Look at where we are: out of plain sight and no witnesses except Misha, and you think Dan would have stopped just for that? I've heard about what he does, and he wouldn't wait this long! I'm not here to add hell to your life Danny Fenton! I'm here because I know somewhere you needed someone to be here, to make sure you're OK! I'm not your friends or your family, but I am me, and I want to protect you anyway I can."
What more could she say? There wasn't enough time to talk about the dreams or how she got here when Danny had that green fire aimed at her. How the heck was he even able to do that? There was something a bit too familiar about that attack, but at the moment, she was a little too preoccupied with getting attacked. It was like a reflection of her old self: shoot first, ask questions later. Nothing she said was a lie, but that didn't mean it made a lot of sense. For some reason, she turned her eyes to the little girl watching them. She wished she could apologize for how they both must look.
no subject
She was very confused, why would Danny suddenly attack Valerie when it was obvious they were friends? And the green light, it was so much like Dan's attack that she was a little scared.
"Please'su," she repeated, softer this time.
no subject
She was Orange? What the hell?
Oh! Her aura or whatever, it was orange.
Wait...
Oh CRAP!!! That was really Valerie!! And he had almost opened fire on her!! He suddenly felt really, really dumb. He'd just openly used his powers in front of her. He was going to have a lot of fun explaning THAT one.
He looked over at Misha and saw the fear on her face. He expression went soft and he muttered to them both. "Sorry..."
no subject
"Thanks for not doing a 'me,'" she said, smiling at Danny. "I guess it might be too soon to start talking about this anyway. I can tell you’re still skittish about the whole thing, and it hasn’t really played back burner in my mind, to tell you the truth." She shook her head, then looked down at Misha.
"And thank you for bringing him to his senses. I don’t know how you have wings, but as long as they give you a hand I can’t say I complain. See," at this point, Valerie reached into the knapsack on her back and overturned it, showing Danny and Misha her ghost hunting equipment, "We all have our little secrets."
She stared at them waiting for a reply. The little girl looked more at ease now, and she was glad because there was really not point in any of them being tense anymore, and the first thing in releasing tension was letting go of certain secrets. She only hoped Danny wasn’t going to yelp at the idea of "ghost hunter" Val, then realized she had already given herself a way earlier anyway.
no subject
She was glad that Danny had realized that this was not Dan, but really his friend.
no subject
He was starting to believe her story. Could Paixao not only yank people from their worlds or deminsions but also pull them out of different time lines?
This was getting more messed up by the second.
To say he was surprised when she dumped her ghost hunting gear on ground was an understatement. The Valerie of days past would NEVER have done that. He did his best to put on a surprised act, after all he wasn't suposed to know about her other life in the first place.
"So that ghost hunter flying around Amity was you?" He asked, still looking down at the guns. "Seriously?"
no subject
She took a deep breath. "Once there was this mean girl who was really rich, but a ghost made her really poor. She got mad and wanted to fight ALL the ghosts, and somebody gave her things to fight ghosts." She pointed to the objects on the floor. "These things. So this mean girl fought all the ghosts, not thinking there might be good ghosts and bad ghosts: the girl was still mad about being poor and would only get angry at ghosts." She made sure to look at Danny as she said this. "Something bad happened to a really good friend of hers though, and it made her so sad she wanted to find out about the REALLY bad ghosts and all the good ghosts, so she could be ready. So one day she wished with all her heart to save her friend who was still running from the bad ghosts, and try not to be mean anymore. I'm that mean girl."
She sighed, and smiled at Misha. "Understand better now?"
no subject
"And Danny-kun is the good friend'su that you came to help'su," she said.
And from Valerie's story, Misha finally understood what Dan was -- not a demon, but a ghost. A very bad ghost.
Ghost'su... are like spirit'su, the angel girl mused thoughtfully. Some are good'su and some are bad'su.
But now she had new questions. How could he claim that Dan was a part of him, when Dan was a ghost and Danny was human?
Or...?
Wait a minute.
Misha squinted at Danny, a cute little frown working its way over her expression as she processed that. Then, as though the proverbial lightbulb turned on, Misha suddenly understood why Danny's aura had always seemed a little too green.
"Danny-kun, you...?" she said, and the tone of her voice was curious.
no subject
He looked up and did his best to give her a warm smile when she looked at him.
It had seemed though, she had yet to peice together that Danny WAS in fact the infamous "Iviso-bill", and he was relieved.
Until Misha began to give him that look. That look like she was trying to read him like a book. Suddenly her expression screamed revelation. She must have figured out the connection between him and Dan. His eyes widened when she tried to ask him about it. He shook his head as subtly as he could.
He didn't want Valerie to know if he could at all avoid it.
It may have been futile, but some habits (and fears) die hard.
no subject
In a way, besides Dan, she was one of those last reminders left. She could see it in his eye reflection, and maybe for other reasons she felt too brain-tired to think about right now. There was so much she hadn’t been willing to say that she had anyway, and now she just wanted something a little bit happier.
She looked at Misha and smiled. "Well, you know a little about us now. I’m sure you told Danny about you, and I’d like to know too. This place is kinda scary to go through alone without friends, don’t you think?"
no subject
To Valerie, Misha offered a shy smile. "Umm'su... okay'su..." After all, it wasn't like she could pretend she wasn't sticking out the way things were. "I have wings'su... because I'm from Heaven'su." She hesitated a bit and then clarified, "I'm an angel'su. Well," she was hasty to add, "Just an apprentice'su, not like my sister'su, Sacchun! She's a full angel'su but I failed both of my exam'su so I'm not really a full angel'su and I'm not sure if I'm still an apprentice'su because Heaven dismissed me'su just like Hell'su dismissed Shia-chan, even though I brought her back'su --"
Oops. Babbling!
no subject
But he wasn't any other Ghost Boy. He was THE Ghost Boy. The one that had cost her her old life and her father his job.
He listened to Misha go on about her story with heaven and the Angels, and he couldn't hold back a broad grin, probably the first he'd had on his face in a long time. He amusedly wondered how Valerie would take her story.
no subject
"You know, I'm confused," Valerie said smiling. "But I'm all hungry again too. Danny, if you'd be so kind, stand behind Misha and we'll go to another place to eat: I don't think the soup kitchen was as filling as I thought it was a few hours ago."
And never mind about that green glow, she thought to herself. That was a whole new place she really didn't feel like dealing with right now.
Before they could reply though, they all suddenly felt the beginnings of a downpour starting, and Valerie looked at them sheepishly, her hair getting matted to her face. "Any ideas?"
no subject
Raindrops began to fall. Misha looked up, blinking cutely, and got one of the nose. "Rain'su!" she announced, which was rather a moot point considering everyone else had already noticed and were likewise getting wet.
"We should go inside'su," she said over the splattering drops. "Kotarou-kun got sick when he stayed out in the rain'su," she recalled. (It really didn't matter that either of them didn't know who Kotarou-kun was. The principle was sound.)
Maybe another hotel? With more big fluffy beds!
Then she remembered something. "Danny-kun, Valerie-san, we don't have any money'su..."
no subject
"What on Earth?" Danny whispered loudly.
Suddenly the rain went from shower to massive downpour in a matter of seconds, and having nothing on but a thin white tee-shirt on, he was in trouble.
But now wasn't the time to be thinking of this. Misha was injured, she didn't need to be sick, and Valerie was in a tanktop. He needed to find some kind of shelter. He looked around the best he could through the weather's onslaught and spotted a large building some distance away.
He raised his voice as loud as he could against the pounding rain, "LET'S HEAD FOR THAT!"
no subject
"Fine. Come on Danny, you lead us."
She said this so she could use the knapsack to shelter Misha before they went to the building. Val didn't mind a possibility of a cold, but what jerk would allow a little girl a sniffle? She sighed and ran with her, avoiding the gale that was just starting.
She would ignore her recent posts because Danny had enough problems, but there would be questions. Oh yes, there would be questions.
no subject
"Teeheehee," Misha giggled, shaking her pink hair to rid it of raindrops. "Look'su! We're all wet'su!" Despite Danny and Valerie's internal worries, the angel girl obviously wasn't worried about having just gotten drenched. Even though her black and white dress was kind of soaked. Oddly enough, the cardboard box she was carrying wasn't even slightly damp! Very strange.
"Can we stay here'su?" she asked, looking up at the building.
no subject
Danny was starting to hate this place, alot.
He looked over at Misha and smiled, she didn't seem to be the slightest bothered by all this. Unfortunatly she was at the most risk because of her burns.
He looked inside the door window when Misha asked her question. The place was classy enough. Had nice atmosphere.
It looked warm too.
"Oh, yeah, we can stay here." He answered.
