Where's the major dodo when you need him... [Completed]

Character(s): Kiara and Duma, anyone to come across them
Content: A lost lioness just looking for her boyfriend rather close friend and trying to avoid the hairless, tailless monkeys. One with wings and who speaks in silence is the exception.
Setting: Nifelheim, and its inner area nearby the outer area of Promenade Terrace. Advancing into the center of the city.
Time: Morning-afternoon, Wednesday, week2
Warnings: None (yet)

If only Zazu was around, then she could very well get through this place a lot easier. She had made her way through the line, ignoring the humans completely. They seemed to either not see her, or decide they didn't want to provoke a lion into getting angry with them. She had reached the beginning of the line at the silvery-iced gates with little to no difficulty, just a bit of timidness and slow pace on her half. Kiara still had no idea where she was, even after sitting out in the grass and observing the people for long periods of time until she had decided to get up after sleeping only a little.

"Name," came from above her, just as she was about to pass through, and she jumped with a quiet squeak. Peeking up at the person there, she flattened her ears back in a sort of submissive manner. "Wh-what?" she was just confused, before the person saw what she was. "Another one," he mumbled, before turning and rummaging through his pile. Pulling out a soft-pink rock with a black vine attached to it, he leaned over and put it around her neck. "Name?" he asked, seeming patient as he waited to write down her name.

"Kiara..." she said puzzledly, staring at the weird rock around her neck now. "It's a journal," he explained, sounding bored. This was the millionth--he was exagerating, of course--lion he saw this damned week or so. "You talk into the microphone... no, that thing..." Kiara had nosed it open at her paws, and was examining it in line much to others' dismay. "The black thing, cat." She looked insulted, but nodded that she understood. "And it puts it in there... have fun. Welcome to Paixao, blahblah... name?" he turned to the next person after explaining things to Kiara, and the lioness had to glare a little at him.

She got no response to it.

Pouting a bit, she closed the journal with her nose and carried it with her into the city, head lowered and ears up so she could listen to her surroundings. There were more of the furless baboons in here, and she wasn't sure what was going on... they all looked the same, minus the few exceptions... It was kind of weird. So she headed deeper in, sticking close to fake foliage despite her comfort there also being limited. This place was just weird...

But the thing that gave her the joo-nal had seen more lions other than her, so her hopes were up. Maybe someone she knew--Kovu? she hoped--would be here... so she just sniffed and listened, eyes trained for whatever might help her.

[Although this thread is completed, it is in need of brief summary between it and the next. That'll... uh. Come later.]

Duma has been hovering on top of the gate in hopes of slipping back without the gatekeeper knowing, but the effort seems to be futile. A lion. In the midst of the blonde-blue-eyed citizens who remind him too much of his own kind, there is a lion. From its stance, Duma can tell that it is anxious, perhaps of the humans. He finds it strange how one fears the other, not aware that the both of them fear each other.

The lion cannot hurt him, however, and with that thought he lowers himself to the ground. Wincing as the soles of his feet touch the ground. He wonders when he will ever get used to walking upon the soiled ground. Duma lands right in front of the lion and looks at it, her, gently but with curiosity. He hopes that she is not hungry.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-08-24 08:56 am (UTC)(link)
Perhaps the lioness cannot speak. It would be a pity if that is so, Duma would have been able to understand her even if she speaks no human language. And as for the angel itself, he does not necessarily find communicating his thoughts to be the utmost importance. He had gotten by with silence for the past... billion years, and he will not break his vow now.

Realizing that him standing upright is hardly polite when he is addressing someone on four limbs, Duma kneels on one knee and maintains his gaze upon the lioness. It would be much harder to escape if she decides to attack him now, but he trusts that she wouldn't.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
Duma lets himself smile at the young lioness, noticing that her eyes seem to be caught on her wings. Of course, she has never seen anyone like him, and unlike humans who have overactive imagination, she would not know that he is an angel.

It seems that she is no mere lioness, however, a royalty at the very least. Duma gives her a nod in reply to her greeting. It might not be the best one she plucked out of her thoughts, but Duma could hear even those she had not said anyway.

Explaining to her about his wings would be nice, but the concept of angels is rather complicated even when explained with words. Duma opts for silence.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-08-25 09:28 am (UTC)(link)
Rude? Yes, well, silence can be considered by most people, he supposes. However, silence from a mute should be pardoned, he figures, even though he is not exactly mute. 'Kiara is a beautiful name,' Duma wants to say, or maybe he can smile slyly and say, 'A perfect name for a princess," winking at her for knowing her status. Yet Duma made a vow for silence a few billion years ago, he will not break it now, even when he has been exiled. There is still hope for redemption.

Duma nods and smiles wider instead. He hopes she would not be offended by his muteness. Bringing his hands over his chest, he looks right into her eyes. Duma, he tells her without a voice, I am Duma, angel of silence.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-08-26 12:02 pm (UTC)(link)
Still smiling, Duma nods at Kiara's pleasant greeting as she seems to be more relaxed around him than before. Looking rather interestedly at her flopping tail, Duma quickly turns his attention to her face in fear of appearing impolite for staring at her tail. She is royalty, if such can be said for animal social structure, he must show her the respect she deserves.

He does not think he has seen any other lion before her in this strange world named Paixao. And yet... he did remember seeing a lion on the network once. Flipping open his perfectly-white journal, he tries to find the entry as quickly as possible so she would not think that he had decided to ignore her question.

Finding the entry (http://fuzzymaraca.livejournal.com/) much sooner than expected, Duma's lips upturn into a smile again while he shows his journal to Kiara. He hopes that it is what she is looking for as Duma realizes how he has been very unhelpful to the people who came to him. It is nice to feel as if you have helped, after all.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-08-28 12:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Duma lets his smile widen as the lioness squealed in delight. While he is not exactly fond of noise in whatever form, it is certainly better when it is of joy. He is so sick of the screams of anguish he hears in hell every single moment.

Standing up to his full height, Duma points to the center of the city away from the gate. This Kovu seems to be someone familiar to Kiara, and finding a lion in this city full of blonde blue-eyed people should not be hard. They might never find him if they were to stay here forever, however, so they should start searching now.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 08:51 am (UTC)(link)
Well, Duma is not exactly sure that this Kovu would be in the direction he pointed at, but he might be. If you always find things in the last place you look for, then it doesn't matter where you start because you will always find it in the last place you look for, right? Duma knows it is wrong, but he figures that 'that way' is as good as any other way, and so he gives her a nod.

In reply to her suggestion, Duma starts walking 'that way' while gesturing for her to follow. It will perhaps be a very long time still before he gets used to feeling the horribly rough ground below the soles of his feet, but he is trying his best not to grimace at every step he takes. He wonders if he will be allowed to walk just a breath above the ground again once he is welcomed back to the Silver City. He wonders if he will ever be allowed back in the Silver City. He wonders if the soles of his feet will ever heal.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-08-29 01:36 pm (UTC)(link)
Come to think of it, Duma does not exactly need to walk. If he wants to, he can fly and still take Kiara with him. He can float just a breath from the ground if he wants to, really, even though it would require a little effort. Duma can also speak if he wants to. He is no longer the Angel of Silence and speaking would not break any vow, really. Another angel have most probably taken his post back in Silver City. Duma now belongs to Hell.

And yet, Duma will walk, the way he should now that he is exiled. Duma will not speak, and he will still keep silent. He is not sure he has a good enough reason for it, but he knows that he still longing for redemption, even though innocence once lost can never be regained. Slowly, Duma shakes his head at Kiara's suggestion. An admirable princess, he muses, unlike most people with power. Duma gives Kiara a smile and tries to grimace less.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-08-30 06:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Duma is glad that Kiara asked no more questions, and that she did not try to force him to accept the favor. It made things simpler, after all. Less words are used that way, less silence sacrificed. Duma manages a smile amidst the pain. Out of all the people and lions he has met over his existence, Kiara is among those he likes best. Duma thinks he likes Kiara better than Remiel; he talks too much.

Noticing a restaurant in front of them, Duma is suddenly reminded that his newfound company is capable of hunger unlike him. Stopping in his tracks, Duma looks at Kiara and then to a certain Paixaoan. Perhaps Kiara is hungry?

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-09-02 01:52 am (UTC)(link)
Duma smiles back to the lioness and continues walking. Kiara is a pleasant enough company, compared to the creature that tried to eat her, Lucifer and a certain nightmare he is not very fond of. He is also glad that she keeps quiet instead of trying to speak louder to him.

It is strange how people often raises the volume of his voice when they speak to him, even though he can hear them perfectly whether or not he can speak. In fact, he rather thinks that you listen better when you are not speaking.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-09-03 01:06 pm (UTC)(link)
Duma is usually not one to be ignorant of things, but it seems that his homesickness brought upon by the blonde and blue-eyed citizens of Paixao diverted his attention from the fake plants around the area. Suddenly noticing it, Duma kneels down and picks one leaf of grass, twirling it around in his hand curiously. It is not alive, but it is still beautiful.

He reaches out for a tiny crystal flower tinted with red, admiring it for a moment before turning to Kiara with a smile. He bends the stalk a little, placing it just above her left ear. Standing up, he smiles down at the lioness. The flower looks beautiful on her, but he thinks that she needs a crown. She is a princess, after all.

Duma smiles a little at Kiara, glad that she does not seem as anxious or exasperated as others usually are when talking to him. The flower really does look beautiful on her. Duma was just going to get some more flowers to make her a circular crown when the voice of a man interrupted him.

Turning to the man, Duma nods, giving him a brief smile and flicking his wings a little in greeting. The man seems a little scared and worried about something, but Duma knows that he is a good man; Duma likes him already. Noticing Kiara beside him, Duma realizes that the man is probably scared of the lioness even though she actually would not try to hurt even a single hair from either of them.

Smiling fondly at the man, Duma kneels to Kiara's height and strokes the side of Kiara's face, sparing a glance to Seiichirou to show him that she is not dangerous. It is only misunderstanding that makes animals dangerous to humans, and vice versa, of course.

[identity profile] keyofhell.livejournal.com 2006-09-13 09:32 am (UTC)(link)
Duma gives the man a slightly amused smile as he suddenly gawked at the two of them after hearing Kiara speak. He did not expect Seiichirou to be able to understand Kiara like Duma could, but perhaps there is something about this place that allows everyone in it to understand every other person regardless of language.

He crosses his arms in front of his chest, not as a gesture of superiority but to signal that he will patiently wait while the two of them converse. Duma does not really mind the sound of people amiably chatting; he finds it quite pleasant.

His amused smile grows a little wider as he realizes how strangely ironic it is that Kiara is the one able to speak to Seiichirou whereas Duma who appears more humanoid cannot. Then again, Duma can speak, and he probably is allowed to, now that he has been exiled. He saves that thought for later, as it always brings painful feelings which are not suitable for first meetings.

In Duma's opinion, Seiichirou is truly amusing. He understands the reason why the man is so confused, of course. Humans have been making up so many stories that they have started to lose track of which stories are real and which are not. Nowadays, they seem to believe the false ones to be true and the true ones to be utter folly.

He nods in agreement to Kiara's offer for help. The man is a good one, Duma will be willing to help him with anything he could. Despite his lack of speech, Duma can actually do quite useful things if people would just ask.

Duma leaves it to Kiara to convince the man that he is not dreaming. It might be good to tell him that dreams are actually real too, but Duma figures that it is not necessary; it would just make the poor man even more confused.

Finding people is something that Duma finds quite easy, except if they might not be in the same world as he is and that he finds he cannot get out. Unfortunately, that just might be the case here. Even so, there is no loss in trying, Duma does not have anything he urgently needs to do after all. He needs to get back, he knows, but Remiel did say he can handle Hell all by himself. Duma realizes that he never actually did anything anyway.

Duma nods and gives Seiichirou a sad smile. The man must love his wife and daughter very much. It must be hard to know that he needs to be away from them so that they would be safe. Duma knows who Seiichirou is, and what he was fated to do. He finds it rather sad that the man's story has already been written for him. Then again, maybe not. Duma wonders why the man is here and not in Tokyo where he should be. You should not be here, his words reach Seiichirou's mind without needing a voice to carry them.

Duma smiles sincerely at Seiichirou when the man shows them the gift he meant to give to his wife, although there is a tinge of sadness in his eyes as well. The angel knows that the man loves his wife very much, and it makes him sad that he has been separated from his beloved family. Finding someone so earnestly loyal is so rare these days.

And yet, Seiichirou seems to have not heard Duma's statement, which was meant more as a question. It is even rarer to see someone with such power be content with the ordinary life of a common happy family. You should not be here, he repeats with no sign of irritation, but I am glad to have met you nonetheless.

Shaking his head slowly in reply to Seiichirou's question, Duma gives him a sad smile for disappointing the man. He has not found a way out yet either, it makes him feel like a failure, which might actually not be that far from the truth.

And yet, Duma is reminded of how Lucifer is also here and unable to leave. Perhaps he is not that much of a failure. After all, even the First of the Fallen is also stuck in this place, so whoever brought all these people here must truly be someone with magnificent power or wit. Duma secretly hopes that it is the former; fools with too much power are easier to handle than someone with enough wit to control such fools.
