Falling Sky [active/open]
Character(s): Anyone and everyone
Content: The domes are falling!
Setting: Entirety of Paixao
Time: Week 42
Warnings: Probably violence and injury.
Note: This will be multi-thread style. Feel free to toss your characters wherever they may be!
There was a loud bang and suddenly the painted skies of Paixao began to crack. Angels and clouds separated from the mural they had once been apart of and began to fell to the earth, crushing anyone and anything they managed to land on.
They were the first, but they certainly weren't the last.

"This... this is a nice place, isn't it? Quieter than I thought it would be -- " Oh, why couldn't she think of anything better to say. Why couldn't she tell him that she was glad to be here, with him? Just the two of them? Why couldn't she --
But a loud, sudden crack in the distance interrupted her thoughts, as she suddenly pushed her chair out from the table, her eyes widening at the volume of it. Thunder? No that wasn't -- she turned to Luke, her expression slightly panic-stricken.

There was so many things he wanted to say too, that was the worst part! He'd messed up the last time she'd been here, so Luke had promised to himself not to make that mistake again, and yet here he was, still failing.
"Oh... yeah! It... is," Luke responded lamely, having been jerked from his thoughts.
This was getting stupid, he just needed to go on and talk to her--Wait, what was that?
Luke jolted to his feet as she did, when the loud sounds began. His gaze quickly locked with Tear's. "W...what the hell is that?" Not that he expected her to know. He had a bad feeling, however.

She didn't wait a moment longer, their dinner forgotten, she made a break for the exit, stopping short at the door frame and looking up at the outside sky in shock. "Luke! It's coming down!"

He was utterly speechless for several long moments, before he finally managed to form some kind of words. "Everyone needs to get out of the city, fast." It was a rather obvious statement, of course, but maybe they could help somehow.

However, the debris apparently had another plan, as a large portion crashed to the ground just in front of her. Tear's eyes widened as she stopped just short of colliding with it, and looked upwards, searching the ceiling for the next portion that might fall. "Be careful, they're all highly unstable!" What -- could have caused something like this so suddenly?!

That was too close. Way, way too close. She could have been--he ended the thought there; he really didn't want to think about what might've just happened to her. The interrupted thought made him almost draw her closer, but instead he quickly realized just how he was holding her and dropped his arms, backing up in a hurry instead.
"You're telling me," he mumbled, seemingly a little more shaken by how much of a close call that was than she was.

There wasa rush of blood to her cheeks that even she could feel, helping drag her back into the reality of the moment. "The Gate!" she cried, once her thought process was working properly again. "We need to get to one of the Gates! Which one is the closest to our current position?!"
no subject
"This way."
Luke started in almost the opposite direction they'd been moving, heading in the same direction that, of course, everyone else was too. It didn't take long to find the increasingly packed street leading towards the gate, flooded with people all trying to escape; the ceiling above them cracking and looking like more large pieces could plummet down at any time.
At this point, Luke was just doing his best to stay close to Tear. He did not want to end up separated from her in the crowd, but it was proving difficult, especially as his eyes kept looking upwards. What if another large piece fell? There was no where to run--the streets too packed. They'd all be crushed trying to get out.
Maybe, if it began to fall, he would have no choice. If the ceiling started to collapse, he could easily destroy it with a hyperresonance. He hadn't used a hyperresonance once since he got here; he'd been too nervous to, but now it was a matter of life or death.

As some of the smaller pebbles rained down, she looked up to see a few softball sized pieces coming their way. "Watch out!" she called, then stopped, raising her staff slightly as she began to concentrate --

Luke reacted more out of instinct, not even really stopping to think or realize what she was doing--he just reached out to grab her wrist and pull her towards the awning of a nearby building. They might not have been body crushing pieces, but they could definitely knock a person out.
Glancing upwards, he could see more starting to come down. The dome above them definitely looked like it was gonna come down, just like the rest. While part of him wanted to escape with Tear... he couldn't. He couldn't turn his back on these people. He turned his gaze to Tear, determination and urgency filling it.
"You should go on without me, Tear. I'll catch up!" he told her, firmly. He wanted her to get out of here, besides, there were probably injured she could help outside.

"You expect me to just leave you here?!" there was anger in her words -- it surprised even herself a little. "I'm not going to do that, Luke! We need to get out of here together, the rest of the domes are going to fall any minute!"
no subject
"Please... Tear," he implored, hoping somehow she might understand.

The grip on her staff tightened, the knuckles beneath her gloves surely the same shade of white. She whipped her head around, her long hair fanning out and hitting her in the face as she did so. It obscured the view of her eyes; hiding the tears that she refused to let fall down her cheeks. "You idiot," her words were a harsh whisper. It was as close to a 'go ahead' as he was going to get out of her.

Luke knew she wouldn't like it, but this reaction unexpectedly hurt. He really was an idiot.
"...Tear..."
He reached out, wanting to touch her; to tell her how much she meant to him... everything! ...but his hand fell back to his side. Dammit...
"We have to talk later," he told her. There was no uncertainty. They were going to talk later, because she was going to get out of here and he was going to do what he had to do. He'd then would see her later. It wasn't allowed to go any other way. He wouldn't let it go any other way. Then he would finally stop putting this off and finally tell her what he'd meant to say a long time ago.
