tell my boy i love him so, tell him so he knows... [ active / closed ]
Character(s): Luke & Tear.
Content: a long-awaited reunion.
Setting: auntie undie's! (why not, lol)
Time: Mid-day? Week 35.
Warnings: Tearjerking-ness. pun not intended.
After leaving the hotel, Tear couldn't help but worry about the sickly looking girl. It has been pure chance that had her running into her, down on the ground, surrounded by those odd monsters... and the fact that Alice didn't seem to have any means of defending herself was even more concerning. The soldier was already considering methods of teaching her how to fight off, or at the very least, arm her with tactics on how to get out of a sticky situation...
Not far off from their lodging, she came upon a little shop, which seemed to sell a little bit of everything. "Auntie Undie's...?" the girl questioned out loud, studying the sign, then finally pusing the door open. The shopkeeper had the same appearance as the other citizens, fair-hair and skin... She nodded in a casual greeting, and went about her business, picking up various items and supplies.
She made her purchase with some of the remaining glad she had in her pocket. She considered herself fortunate that they didn't seem particularly concerned about the currency... and picked up her belongings, heading for the door.
"... Eh?" when she stepped out into the open, she was greeted by a fresh sheet of snow starting to line the ground, and falling silently from the domed sky above. "Snow...?" she questioned, but shook her head. Perhaps this was normal for Paixao. Either way, she needed to make her way back to the Actua Are before the way became impassable.

He wasn't particularly happy to see snow on the ground. The only thing Luke was kind of glad about was that he had worn this different shirt. His stomach would have been pretty cold by now otherwise.
Well, no, there was one other thing: the lack of any of those dark creatures or anything. He hadn't seen any so far, which was never a bad thing. Still, he guard was up, and his sword an easy draw away.

Suddenly, the hairs on the back of Tear's neck began to rise. She stopped dead in her tracks and stood still, listening, an ominous feeling starting to fill the air around her. Her eyes darted towards the white-covered ground, where suddenly a group of heartless sprang forth, popping up from their shadowy depths!
The soldier cursed quietly, chastising herself for allowing herself to get so lost in thought that she hadn't noticed their approach. She dropped her belongings abruptly, and immediately took hold of her staff, holding it high in the air. "Pow Hammer!" she summoned the small mallets to stun the creatures.
This was not good... they had managed to surround her! With a fierce look in her eyes, she attempted to calculate a battle plan, but wasn't left with much time as one of the creatures dove towards her. She managed to push it back with her weapon, and took a half step back. No good! If she didn't have any time to be able to cast, then...!

Luke rushed in the direction he thought he'd heard the call come from, hoping it wasn't just some kind of figment of his imagination. Turning a corner around a building, the familiar figure confirmed it hadn't been his imagination at all!
"TEAR!"
The dark creatures surrounding her made him run faster, as he reached behind him, drawing his sword from it's sheath. Leaping between her and the shadowy creatures, he quickly 'drew' a circle around him with his sword, before stabbing it into the ground in front of him.
"Guardian Field!"
More than a few of the Heartless that had been close enough to be caught in the field that had formed, found themselves struck with light energy, quickly destroying them. Pulling his sword back out, he quickly held his sword out before him, shifting into a protective stance before her, as there were still a few left.

As though she was moving in slow motion, the melodist turned in the direction of the footfalls, just in time to catch a red and white blur jumping in front of her. The view from the backlines -- the same as it had been so many times before.
Was she... imagining this?
Her thought process wasn't working anymore at this point, and so, it was the soldier within that took over. It was so easy to slip into the same battle stance she always had -- knowing that on the frontlines, he was going to be there. Pushing forward.
Tear focused on her spell, unwilling to question this gift, this divine intervention, in the heat of a battle. She concluded the chant and opened her eyes... "Eclair de Larmes!"

Was that it?
He glanced around for a couple moments, trying to make sure there were none left; there didn't seem to be. Slowly Luke relaxed his stance. Well, that wasn't so bad.
Tear... Tear was here. She was back! And... standing right behind him. Suddenly self conscious, he slowly slide his blade back into the sheath. Feeling foolishly nervous, he slowly glanced over his shoulder at her at first, as if making sure it really was her standing behind him--it was. Swallowing, he turned completely around to face her, trying to find words.
"Tear..." Ugh, he had to do better than THAT. Luke felt like he'd screwed up last time around with Tear; he didn't want to go and repeat that. He tried again, "H-Hey." Well, it wasn't much of an improvement, but what else do you say to someone you know who you just accidentally bumped into in a completely different world?

Tear was frozen in place. Awestruck. The side of her that craved the logic in the situation was attempting to make sense of what was going on. But all of that flew out the window when he turned to her. Tear... he said it so casually.
Her breath caught in her throat. The corners of her eyes started to swell up with the tears she'd held in for so long. She wasn't even sure that she was moving until her feet took a step forward on their own. Then another, until she lauched herself towards the redhead, her arms wrapping around him tightly. "Lu... Luke! Luke!" it was all she could manage to say as she embraced him tightly, her body shaking with silent sobs as she pressed herself against him. "It's you... it's really you..." she needed to repeated it, as though hearing it outloud made it all the more real.

He was still trying to think of what to possibly say when, before he'd even realized, she'd closed the gap between them. Luke was obviously surprised at first; this was Tear, after all, but feeling her shaking against him quickly served to bring him out of the faint daze of surprise. With a soft utter of her name, his arms quickly found their way around her, holding her tightly.
"Y-yeah... It's me," Luke confirmed softly. It was stating the obvious, but it seemed like something she needed to hear.

She pulled away slowly, looking down, her bangs obscuring the view of her eyes. She turned away quickly, not wanting him to see that she'd lost herself in the moment -- let down her guard. She sniffled quickly -- "I-I'm sorry. It must be something in the air I'm not used to..." it was a poor excuse, but the best she could come up with on the spot.
When Tear turned back to him again, there was a timid, almost fragile smile on her face. "How is it... That you're here?" Nevermind the fact that she couldn't even make sense how she was here exactly...

"Well, I don't really know. No one does. Lots of people just suddenly find themselves here," Luke explained softly, watching her expression. He couldn't give her a whole lot more than that, unfortunately. "But we've been trying to find a way to get back to where we belong."
Luke paused a moment, smiling softly. "After all, I have a promise to keep."

Having lost herself in the moment, the chill in the air dragged her back into the reality of the situation. As she lifted her gaze again, the snow seemed to be falling faster, and there was much more of it dancing around them. "The snow is coming down harder... At this rate, we could get stuck. I've rented a room at the nearby hotel with someone that I came across. Why don't we head there for now?"
no subject
"Yeah, that sounds like a good idea," Luke said without much hesitation, given that snow was starting to gather on his head and shoulders. He might not make it back across the city at the rate it was going, or, well, at least without suffering from frostbite. He was sure Guy and Jade could manage without the supplies for now, but he'd made a mental note to leave a message for them.

"But they're back at an apartment across town... I was out getting some supplies," Luke explained to her. "But I guess getting back could be a problem."
The rate this snow was falling right now, it wouldn't be stupid to try to head back across the city. Tear's hotel would be the better choice, if it was closer, for sure.
