I'd do anything for love... but doing that may not have been the best idea [completed]
Character(s): Vyers, Gwen, Genie, Urd
Content: Date + Contest = Disaster
Setting: Elysian Fields
Time: Week 28, night
Warnings: none!
His arm entwined with Gwen's, Vyers couldn't help but wonder just what he had gotten himself into. He hadn't been expecting so many offers to help over the journals. Really, all he had wanted was a suggestion so he would be able to take her out to dinner. Although now that he thought about it, he really should have known, shouldn't he? He himself had noticed a few similar entries on the network from time to time, hadn't he?
Vyers supposed he should be somewhat grateful for Urd and Genie's offers to help, but instead he felt quite nervous about the whole thing. There was some sense of foreboding deep down that he couldn't shake about this whole thing, as though something--or many things--were about to go horribly wrong. He tried to keep his worries to himself, however, and keep Gwen from noticing.
He needed to be more optimistic, that was all. Everything would go just fine.
He didn't really believe himself.

Removing the accordion, the genie carefully picked Urd up and turned to their guests. “We’ll, uh… Be right back! All the excitement must have gotten to her. That was the chicken parmesan with the side of alfredo for the mademoiselle and The filet mignon cooked rare with the white truffle risotto for you sir, yes?” At the first sign of what may have been a response from either of the two, they would find Genie had already left.
Hurriedly, he seated Urd down at her own table and pulled a neighbouring chair close. The time he spent to ensure that the goddess was in fact just asleep, as well as prepare the couples meals, would finally allow Vyers and Gwen some much desired time to themselves to speak amongst themselves.

As the "happy" couple continued their date with some privacy, Urd sat on the chair Genie had set her on, her head bowed as she slept soundly. After a moment, she awoke, lifting her head and blinking blearingly. "Wh-what..." she mumbled before breaking into a yawn and stretching. Suddenly she froze with her arms behind her head and her back arched, staring at Genie.
Then she exploded towards him, grabbing the lapels of his suit jacket and pulling him with supernatural strength down to her level. "YOU!"

He flashed the goddess a notably nervous smile, fingers wandering to loosen the bow tie around his neck which felt as though it had suddenly doubled itself in tightness somehow.

"Don't spread that around though, okay? It's a pretty big weakness."

Polka, who would have guessed? Genie had played but a single note and yet that had appeared to be more than enough to knock the goddess out. “I guess it doesn’t.” He agreed, looking down at his jacket to inspect the job she had done as far as smoothing out the wrinkles. It was flawless.
“Mine are no better.” Genie admitted sheepishly with a shrug. By now he was certain Urd had already figured out his greatest weakness; his inability to win a game, any game. It didn’t matter how well he knew the game, or skilled he appeared to be, in the end he always lost. And he always would. Even with all his Pokémon level one hundred, he could not beat his rival in their final battle. It was incredibly frustrating, especially when his rival, Gary, had only level sixty Pokémon max. But Genie supposed there were far worse weakness. Falling asleep to Polka may have been up there, what with his love for polka and all.
He rested his elbow on the table and places his chin on his palm. “But there are worse,” the genie continued thoughtfully. “Not to get all Halloween but Dracula, wow. The list goes on… Not to mention this one guy, Reggie, I bunked with in college. Phenomenal mage and all, thing was for every spell he cast he had to drink a cup of prune juice. He wasn’t a prune fan. Prunes actually made him nauseous.”

"Hm, I guess so. We all have our weaknesses, right? Polka's not that bad." Urd glanced at the djinn from the corner of her eye, her smile soft. "Not compared to my weakness for big blue magical spirits with goatees."

“Oh.”
Slapping his hand over his face in embarrassment, Genie looked away from the goddess. Any smoother and he might as well have called himself ‘Vyers’. Still… Slowly, the genie turned to look back at Urd, peeking through his fingers curiously. All the while, the fingers belonging to his other hand shyly walked across the table toward her hand.

"Ah! They're getting away!" She removed her hand and pointed to Vyers, who was presently lifting Gwen and charging boldly away from their carefully constructed romantic setting. Urd shot to her feet, scowling. "We can't let them do that! I'm not done!"

“… Getting away?” Genie rose to his feet and looked out to where Vyers and Gwen had been sitting only moments ago, their seats now vacant. What had- was that-? Following Urd’s line of vision, he pushed back his chair, preparing to fly after the now fleeing pair. They were leaving? But dinner hadn’t even begun! “I haven’t even served appetizers yet!”
