A Head in Heart-Shaped Clouds [active/open]

Character(s): Vyers, anyone!
Content: Following the Date From Hell, there's something a little... off about Vyers.
Setting: All around Paixao -- Party style!
Time: All around, week 30
Warnings: All women should expect flirtation.

Never before had Vyers realized just how many beautiful, wonderful women there were in this city. The grace with which they moved, their voices, flowing like a gentle stream... Ah, but the very thought of them made his heart race! And yet, alongside these feelings of elation, Vyers was troubled.

The woman he had longed to see again was once more by his side, was she not? That should be all that he desired. So then, why was his mind wandering to so many others? Of course, the moment he would think of Gwen, his love for her would surge more than it ever had before, but even then...

How strange love was, to be so fickle and yet so strong! As Vyers went about his day, his mind wandered, from woman, to wife, to the entire situation.

Do you always see the world with such a darkened view? She paused, remembering the mistakes of her past, the regrets that were never far from her heart. "...yeah. I do always see the world this way. The world requires it." She turned to face him, less challenging and hostile. "I regret meeting anyone here, especially when they can just disappear without a trace. I'm not a nice person to know. So why don't you just save yourself the trouble?"

Death... She swallowed up a wave of nausea, the scent of brimstone and a vision of blue flame popping into her mind. "Yeah...yeah, I'd definitely not be who I am now if I hadn't met..." Meg shook her head, moving to the nearest tree and leaning against it, pale and shaken. Perhaps it was because she was feeling as brittle and broken as she was, but having someone, anyone, listen -- even if it was a game or a lie -- was too tempting to pass up. Even if she knew better.

"I can't become anything else," she said after a moment. "I'm trapped the way I am. Forever."

"You don't know me," she said, though the hostility was a dull edge this time around, a weak attack as a last ditch effort. "How can you say anything about me when you don't even know my name? Stupid..." Meg placed the tips of her finger to her forehead, closing her eyes. "I'm not...I'm not underestimating myself. I'm being realistic about my situation. I can't afford to lie to myself, okay?"

Geez, the crap that came out of this guy's mouth. Even as it made her bristle, though, something resonating within her. Maybe it wasn't time to give up yet. Maybe in this world, with all the magic and mystery surrounding her, there might still be a way to win. Or at the very least, not lose. She shook her head, ignoring such hope. It was too frightening to think about.

As she met his eyes, the frown on her face lessened. It wasn't quite a smile but it was start. "...Megara. Meg."

As Vyers suspected, the frown was back in an instant, her eyes cold steel. Yet, she didn't snap at him. Something held her back from letting him have it. Lowering her gaze, she sighed. "...let's just say I've made some stupid decisions." She wasn't about to pour her heart out to this guy, after all. But it couldn't hurt to talk a little.

She lifted her gaze, a faint sardonic smile on her face. "You talk like you've made a few mistakes yourself." And wasn't it obvious he had? His ridiculous outfit, for example. Not to mention his continuing pursuit of her. Some guys just never learned.

Eyebrow raised, she caught his unwillingness to share such a thing. It only interested her more. "You wanna know my life story but you can't return the favor, is that it? Tell you what, a mistake for a mistake. A regret for a regret. I'll show you mine if you show me yours."

She watched Vyers expectantly as he frowned, arms folded. When he finally, reluctantly, let something out, she smiled without humor. She smiled as if she had a secret joke, just for her. "Yeah? I did make a choice that ended my life." So to speak, anyway. She wasn't dead yet, but could her existence really be called living? It was just a waiting game now. Waiting for her body to match her heart in death, for her soul to join the countless damned in Hades' underworld.
