Who to Trust, and Who Not to Trust [Active, Closed]
Character(s): Nana, and Princess Kakyu, then Toboe later.
Content: In the middle of using her journal for the first time, Kakyuu and Nana discuss about who she has spoken to. Nana then asks Kakyuu if meeting one of the nice folks in person would be all right.
Setting: Near the park entrance
Time: Backdated to week 28, early afternoon. Methinks Nana could hardly wait to see how the journal device worked.
Warnings: May contain a bunch of cuteness. XD
She had no idea that the journal box was capable of having more than one person talk all at once! All this felt so overwhelming at first. All Nana had hoped to hear from was her missing parent. She missed him so much. So far, she’s only heard from those such as Timon, Woody, and Scar. It wouldn’t be right to trust someone who’s killed one of his family members. What had she done? This lion was probably going to hurt Papa, even kill him! Why? What could have happened if Timon and Woody didn’t warn her so soon after telling him what Papa looked like?
These questions scared her, as she didn’t feel like communicating to Scar anymore after learning about the terrible thing he did. Nana had felt herself become tense about that. Kakyuu and Nana would find Papa first, she was certain of it! Her nose may not be as incredible as Scar’s, but she knew her vectors would help her to protect those she cared about.
Nana sat on the curb by the Jogo da Crianca iron fence, near Kakyuu’s line of sight. She stopped dwelling over Scar, as she fell quiet. Nana felt she had to try to remember something Papa told her, long ago when she once asked why he wore his glasses before.

She sighed, clasping her hands together as her gaze skipped over to Nana. She wanted to help the girl, truly. And after that display at the gate -- Kakyuu couldn't help but feel sorry for her. What had caused her legs to simply... detatch like that? Although it was a concern, she decided not to bring it up again, not yet at least. Not until... Nana felt a little more comfortable around her.
The click click clicks of the journal drew her attention, as she glided over towards the girl, and leaned over her shoulder. "It's quite the device, isn't it?"
no subject
She smiled. "It's so different than the radio thing I've used. Only two people can talk back and forth, while more than one can through this journal!"
no subject
She thought a moment. "Have you been able to contact anyone that is familiar to you?"
no subject
Nana heard the friendly voice of that nice man who introduced himself as Woody Pride in the background as she began to reply. "I haven't heard from Papa yet. But some friendly people, and one animal said they'd try to help look for him..." She paused, and let the worry and guilt show on her face. "One who's a lion named Scar... Two of who I talked to said he's dangerous. They said he's killed someone in his family. And I..." Her eyes lowered. "They warned me about him, after I told him what Papa looked like."
Deep in her heart, she felt solely responsible, even though she hadn't meant to give Papa's description to someone like Scar. Even if she hadn't meant to put Papa in twice as much danger, she still felt so worried about that.
Scar didn't know about her special arms, her vectors. If she had to, she'd hurt him first, before he would do anything to Papa.
Kakyuu of course didn't know about her vectors either, and Papa had specifically told Nana not to tell anybody about them. Nana was a good girl, and wanted to stay that way for him. It's what had kept her going for a very long time. Even though these given instructions were not always easy to follow, she knew she had to keep her special arms and hands a secret.

"There are people out in the world... who wouldn't think twice about taking advantage of another's kindness, Nana. That is why we must be careful in whom we place our trust..." A sort of roundabout way to tell her to be more careful but -- the princess didn't want to come across as though she was scolding the girl, either.
"You said there was another animal that wanted to help you?"
no subject
Nana found out how to use the scrolling feature to listen to the voices of others and see their pictures. She pointed to where Timon's messages were. "The lion told me he was a meerkat, but no one else said he was dangerous, like Scar is..."
no subject
"A meerkat?" she tilted her head, having never seen a creature quite like it. "Oh, it's -- sort of cute," she smiled.
no subject
If Kakyuu be of help, Nana would greatly appreciate it!

Before she could get too into the idea, she had to ask, "Do you know where we could find crayons and paper?"

It's been a while since she got a chance to draw pictures, and it was one of the very few fun things she got to do back at the facility.
The chipper smile on the girl's face couldn't be helped.
no subject
"Do you like drawing, Nana?"
Finally, progressing to the third character of this scene.
At the question, she nodded. "Whenever I had the chance, back at my old home, Papa gave me time to draw... Sometimes when I was by myself, I drew pictures."
The memory of being confined to a room when the doctors didn't need to do tests on her softened her voice. "I never got to draw as much as I wanted to, because of all the tests. The doctors put me through them all the time."
A new young voice spoke from her journal, since Nana hadn't turned it off yet. "Do you need help looking for someone?"
Nana jolted in place, a bit startled at first. She raised the communicator so she could see the picture of the new person who asked the question. "Y-Yes! I really need to know if my papa's somewhere in the city. He's a human dressed in blue, wears a purple string around his neck, has dark colored hair, and wears glasses."
She began to wonder if this person, like Timon, knew what glasses were.
no subject
Still, she chose not to press the subject, as they were mercifully interrupted. Without saying anything, the redhead simply tilted her head. "Someone else willing to help?"
no subject
It would be nice to meet one of them, wouldn't it? Might be fun, she considered. Maybe, he's as nice as Woody is. The voice sounded young, so maybe this kid was as young as her. Nana never had any opportunity to know any other kids (didn't even know if there were any kids like her), and she didn't know what any children would be like.
She felt a longing to know what meeting a normal human kid would be like. Since the day she first arrived in this big city, she'd been learning a lot about it, a world outside the one that had no place for her anymore.

From here on out it should be three way tagging, yay. ^_^
"He didn't say where... So, we could wait for him here!"
"Oh, ok. I'll try to look for him," came the belated reply on her journal.
Nana sounded somewhat nervous in saying, "...Hold on! Do you think, that, maybe, we could search together? If you're not so busy or anything?
My name's Nana. My friend Kakyuu and I are by the park."
The other person said he wasn't busy, and sounded chipper to come see them. That of course had to be a good thing, right? Nana was a little excited herself to meet someone else that seemed nice.

Toboe almost immediately spotted Nana and her friend in the park. Most of the people around (and there weren't many to begin with) were native citizens of the city, and they all looked and smelled the same. He ran over and waved to her.
"Hi! Nana, is that you? I'm Toboe!"
no subject
She hoped so.
The diclonius closed her journal and put it away in the handbag that Papa gave to her. She looked at the green paper stuff strangely, not knowing what to make of it. "What is this stuff? Paper?"
Nana was about to ask Kakyuu what they could be used for when she heard the running footsteps. Turning towards the source of the sound, she saw the boy waving and introducing himself. His smile made her smile brightly in return. Wow, he seemed really friendly! She almost laughed in the giddiness of meeting one of these helpful people.
"Yeah, it's me!" She gestured toward the taller woman beside her. "This is the friend I told you about."
Of course she was so pleasantly surprised by Toboe's arrival that the handbag was left open. By some lucky twist of fate, nothing fell out of it.

"Yeah, we're looking for your dad, right?" Toboes smile faded a bit. He was missing some friends too, but helping someone look for theirs would keep him distracted enough. Besides, he was making new friends! Those were always welcome. (Especially since these girls were friendly unlike Tsume.)
And then Toboe noticed the horns. His face was more curious than anything. "Hey, what're those?" He pointed to Nana's horns. "I've never seen anyone with those before."
I actually was thinking about PMing you to tag. XD *snugs*
"Yeah, we are. It's been some days now, since the last time I saw him." Nana's smile also faded a little as Toboe's had.
There was a bit of surprise toward his other inquiry, but she quickly settled down. Humans in the Outside World didn't know anything about who or what she was. They didn't have pink hair, vectors, or--
"They're my horns," Nana told Toboe. As she looked at his expression, he was only interested, not bothered by them. ...Well, she hoped that's what it was. "There aren't many others like me, from where I used to live. That's why you haven't seen anyone like me before." Just one other that I know.
Nana's gaze lowered all of a sudden. She swallowed, and tried not to think of that bad girl again. She can't be here. No. She's not here! She's not! I know I can't feel her anywhere...
If Lucy was somewhere in Paixao, the people around would know of her by now. They'd have seen whoever she'd...kill...
"...I can't really say much about that." She looked back to her friends, a little nervously. "Just know I'm the only one of my--my species, in Paixao. I'd be able to sense someone that has horns like mine..." Nana knew she wasn't helping on pushing Lucy from her mind through using a word that she had used--but she didn't know any other way to explain.
Most of all, she didn't want to trouble anyone else about the place she came from. Around Kakyuu, Nana felt that she absolutely had to tell her a little of her old home. She felt she had no choice then. Around Toboe, it didn't seem right to her to mention anything in relation to before she arrived in this city.
sob. im the worst. sorry DX
She clasped her hands together, looking pleased. It seemed the girl could most certainly use some friends...
no subject
He just gave them both a big grin. "Well, it shouldn't be too hard to find your father then! He has horns like you, doesn't he?" Of course, like Kiba and Hige, he might not be in the city at all. Still, Toboe would stay optimistic. He had no idea what the two girls' worlds were like, so saying that her father may still be back where she had come from might be a downer. "Do you remember what gate you came through? He might be around there."
no subject
Nana slowly shook her head from side to side, and replied to Toboe. "No, he doesn't have horns. He looks more like any other man I've seen before." Her voice tightened a little as she further explained, "He never...pretended to be nice like the others." He never hurt me, she kept to herself. She didn't let herself look sad at that, as she looked thoughtful. "I've never seen a man or boy that has horns. I only know I and one other girl have them."
Quickly, she added, "I don't want to talk about that other girl though. She's bad." From here, she would continue to dodge around Lucy.
no subject
Allowing the new explanation of her home to sink in... the princess took note of her words -- all the while keeping the other information the young one had given locked away. Kakyuu wanted to help her, to understand her, but... certainly not to frighten her, or press her for information.
She turned to Toboe with a soft expression. "I think that's a fine idea. Nana arrived through Muspelheim. Do you know where that is?"
no subject
no subject
Why would they start searching there? What for, she had to wonder. Could Papa be there waiting for her?
no subject
"You seem as though you certainly have your bearings around the city, Toboe. Have you been in Paixao long?"
no subject
"I guess you two haven't been here very long, huh? Maybe me and Tsume could show you guys around!" It wasn't likely, but to Toboe, it was worth a shot. Tsume could use more friends.
no subject
She listened to Toboe and Kakyuu talk, and found her opening into this discussion as they walked. "I haven't been here very long," she said. "Kakyuu, have you been here a long time?"
no subject
"But I suppose... that will have to wait until we find a way out," her gaze dropped, a fragile smile forming on her lips as she put up a brave front. "I'm sure there is still much to see, however. Is Tsume a friend you've made here?"
no subject
"I knew Tsume before I came here. I met him in Freeze City." Toboe definitely didn't miss that place. Paixao was much better, even with killer lions, the threat of heartless things that people mentioned over the network, and the mysterious Organization XIII. The native people here might be odd, but at least Toboe could find plenty of good food and rest easy at night.
no subject
She of course remembered why they went outside, but she avoided dwelling on the bad memories that involved her.
Nana repeated the name of Toboe's friend in her head to remember. "Where is Tsume? He didn't want to come with you?" She already began to wonder what this person was like. Was he just as nice and at the ready to help someone in need as Toboe was?
no subject
no subject
"Yeah, it does. My friend Blue is here too. It'd be a lot harder if they weren't here." His smile faded. Kiba and Hige still hadn't shown up, and he didn't know where that noble had taken Cheza. It bothered Toboe to be in a safe place when his other friends were still somewhere in danger.
no subject
Her eyes lit up with hope at the thought of getting more help than she'd think. For a minute, she thought she was going to cry, feeling this new found happiness--but she didn't. "Oh, so Tsume's helping us look for Papa too?" Maybe it wouldn't be much longer until she was reunited with him, safe at last. She wanted to believe that, so much.
She giggled in delight. "You should introduce us to them sometime, both Tsume and Blue!" She started to reach for Toboe's hand with her other prosthetic arm.

no subject
"I should, shouldn't I?" He did his best to keep his smile, but it was obviously forced now. No one had tried to grab his 'hand' like that before. He hoped he didn't hurt Nana's feelings.
no subject
"I'm sure he will," she said, letting the matter go--for now. It wasn't that she was upset or anything close to that, only confused.
"And yes you should," she said, wearing a calm smile.
Up ahead, she noticed the doorway she first moved past in entering the city. The gateway with the strange lights around it that emitted a lot of warmth. With her free hand, she pointed. "Over there! We're getting closer now."
no subject
no subject
"I don't see him yet." He didn't smell anyone either. Well, anyone other than Nana, Kyakuu, and the zombie-like people of Paixao. "Maybe we'll see him if we get to higher ground."
no subject
He must have... He promised that he would find her someday, and she believed him. He wouldn't have saved her just to abandon her.
When Toboe mentioned about going to higher ground, she looked to him. "Higher?" Her gaze shifted to the tops of the buildings around them. "Somewhere up there?"
