We're not in Halloween Town anymore (Active / Open)

Character(s): Larsa, Gabranth, and anyone who wants to run into them
Content: Exploring Spira
Setting: Spira
Time: Day, Week 23
Warnings: TBA

Larsa wasn't much of an explorer by  himself, but that was the nice thing about having a companion from home with him here: his guardian was more than willing to follow him. So, the young emperor had made it quite clear that he was going to look at this new floor. It wasn't quite what he'd expected. While the others had seemed fairly small and easy to pass through, this one looked very large, more so than he'd expected.

Glancing around to get his bearings in this forest, he made sure Gabranth was nearby before taking a few steps forward. "Shall we continue?"

As far as forests went, this particular one was nothing at all like any of the ones Gabranth had seen. Not that he'd made a particular study of Ivalice's forests, mind you, but he was fairly certain their wasn't anything near what currently stood in front of them. But there was certainly no harm in that. A forest was hardly a threat on its own.

"Aye," he answered with a nod.

Neirenn had gone back to Halloween Town on her own this time--the Heartless could be avoided or knocked out with her spells, so long as she was careful not to let any darkness leak into them. The surroundings might have been spooky, but the knowledge that it wasn't quite a real place combined with how... overwrought the "scary" environment was mitigated any unease.

But when she'd seen the other door, she hadn't thought too much about simply going through. Dangerous? Maybe, but she could handle it. If nothing else, she could simply use her portal spell to escape quickly.

The place she stepped into was so utterly... different. A sky that stretched on to forever, real plants and animals, the smell of grass and flowers and trees and open air. Neirenn hadn't seen anything like it since she'd been traveling with the others. Still it wouldn't do to drop her guard--looking around, she spotted a young boy in finery and a tall man all in armor. "Ah... hello there," she said, stepping forward. Judging by their appearance, they must have been rather important back in their homeworld.

So they were to possibly have another companion then? An unexpected occurrence, but no matter. He could keep an eye on two easily enough, and she seemed to have little enough ill intent, for all that he could currently judge. True, that would only out given time, but that was of less concern. If Larsa wished to bring her along then so be it. It was hardly his place to judge.

For now, however he would actually speak, save to offer a polite nod in her direction.

[ooc: Oh my god I am so sorry about this. Things were busy and then my ISP had a week-long outage DX if I start dragging again feel free to poke me for a tag!]

"That's right," Neirenn said with a nod and a bit of a grin. She looked around again, marveling at the vast landscape. She had a difficult time believing that this was just a floor inside a castle--it seemed more like a portal to another world entirely. Her mind was alive with questions. How far did it extend? Did it just create itself as people moved around in it? Would it be populated with 'people' like the ones that lived in Paixao itself--was it based on somewhere real?

The only way to begin finding answers would be to explore. "My name is Neirenn," she went on. "I'm very good at magic--combat magic and utility magic--so I won't slow you down if you don't mind me coming with you. I'd rather not explore this place without any company." It was a statement of fact, but there was still an unmistakable note of pride in her voice. She just hoped they didn't assume that healing magic was included as well.

A curious look was directed at the boy's silent, armored companion, but someone in that kind of clothing would naturally have a guard of some sort.

A mage. Not what he would have expected, but even he had to admit that perhaps it would be a welcome thing indeed. The world was as of yet unknown; there may well be something that mere blades wouldn't be able to take care of. He had few complaints, and besides, who was he to deny someone when Larsa had already said they could come.

"It is as he says," Gabranth answered with a slight nod. "More would not go amiss."

Neirenn smiled back. She liked this Larsa kid. He was cute, in the adorable sense of the word, being so earnest and eager to explore in that fancy outfit. And being called 'Lady Neirenn' felt rather nice; it was hard to deny. "All right, let's," she replied, starting forward with an eager look on her face. Fake or not, she wanted to see as much of this place as possible.

She glanced back at the armored man, though, almost surprised that he had spoken. "Is it all right if I ask your name?" Just thinking of him as a knight or 'the armored man' seemed awkward to her. Although if he was reticent she could just default to calling him sir, she preferred being on a first-name basis with people.

"Gabranth," he answered, with a very slight nod. "Judge Magister and guardian of the young lord."

Not that he particularly expected her to be familiar with the term, but it was nonetheless what he was, even here. A Judge didn't cease to be so were he removed from Archades, or indeed, his world and so he would continue to introduce himself as such. If there were questions on what a judge did, those he would happily explain.

Neirenn had never heard of a Judge Magister before, but she could guess that it was a very important position. And 'young lord' confirmed her suspicions about Larsa. Her curiosity about him and his position wherever he came from was almost as strong as her curiosity about this place, although she wasn't sure how much it would be wise to ask considering his armored guardian there. Besides, there was a line between curiosity and prying that she was wary of crossing.

Larsa's own question, though, was a bit of a tricky one. "Well... I can't answer that for sure," she admitted, rubbing her wrist. "I was here for a few weeks, and then I wound up back at home again. I'm not sure how long I was gone from here, but I've been here for over a month since then."

Provided the questions weren't matters of national security, Gabranth would have had few problems with them. It was to be expected that questions would arise, and there would have been no practical purpose to denying people the right to ask. And even if there were, it was very rarely within in his duties to silence questions - especially given the bureau with which he worked.

But this were things that he saw no need to volunteer.

"Aye," he agreed. "'Twould be a great convenience."

"I really wish I had some idea what happened," Neirenn said with a frown. "When I came to Paixao, it was while I was using a portal spell. I don't know what happened to get me back, only that I was... and then when I tried using a portal spell again, I was outside the gates a second time."

She sighed, looking around for any sign of hostility as she walked, thinking of bandits more than wild creatures. "I'd like to find a reliable way to get home as well, but at the same time, I think there's a lot to be learned in this place." She was already trying to further her research on magical healing, but more than that, the infinite worlds people seemed to come from--it was too fascinating for Neirenn to desire a permanent return.
