The Longer It Takes The More It Goes To Waste [Completed]

Character(s): Vyers, Laharl, Urd and Timon
Content: Vyers has his body repaired.
Setting: Destiny Islands
Time: Night
Warnings: ... Look at the characters. Do you need to ask?

Timon was really never sure how he got mixed up in these things. As far as he was concerned all this hocus pocus and voodoo magic was a load of bologna, even after all he had witnessed and experienced firsthand. Perhaps it was just easier, more comforting, to believe that something that powerful could not exist. The world- this world, his world, whatever, could be complicated enough without all these ‘super moves’, as the meerkat defined them to Riku. Thankfully, if anyone was good at being ignorant it was Timon. Although, maybe that wasn’t as admirable a skill as one would think.

He never bothered to explain to Laharl and Vyers what Urd had requested of him other than to bring them to Destiny Islands that night. Like most subjects, he danced his way around it and eventually weaseled out of it all together with a significant amount of ease. The kids, as the Nobodies had become referred to, demanded his attention, especially when they would be left alone for the night. He put them to bed, brought them a glass of water, and told a desired story before assigning Simba to watch the apartment during their hopefully short absence.

As for the walk to the door to the islands, Timon had kept surprisingly quiet. There was no doubt plenty on his mind, just as there was surely on the two demons, but he felt no need to share his thoughts. They varied from Vyers, the kids at home, all the way to what he would be eating tomorrow for breakfast. Then again, it was no surprise food was on the meerkats mind. It was rare for it not. He looked briefly at Vyers before turning his glance to the scenery around them. When Urd had said he was living on borrowed time, what did she mean? Whose time was he on? Why did he even get more time in the first place? As far as Timon was concerned over a thousand years was more than enough for anyone. All he got was fourteen, sixteen at the most. Not fourteen thousand, not fourteen hundred, just fourteen. Compared to Vyers his lifespan was but a blink of the eye and here the demon wanted – no needed more?

His jealousy was evident from the expression on his face but understanding shown through his actions. Had he the opportunity, he too would go the same lengths to keep his father alive, regardless how poor a relationship theirs had been. The same went for Simba. He would risk his life for the lion without a second thought. Vyers was a royal pain and Laharl an incredible jerk but Timon had no intention of separating them. Watching them suffer from the others presence would be thanks enough for what he did for them tonight.

“She never said where we were supposed to meet here.” He spoke up once they had arrived in Destiny Islands. “I guess we just have to look for her.”

Similarly to the other two, Vyers had remained silent the entire way to the islands, a somber expression on his face and his mind wandering. While he had attempted to think of things other than what was about to transpire, he always came back to the subject. It was difficult not to, really. Death was a thing not easily forgotten, especially when it was so close at hand.

And not just for himself. That, it seemed, was the hardest thing of them all to accept. He knew what he was going to do if events took a turn for the worse, but he still hoped that that wouldn't come to pass. Vyers was admittedly surprised that Laharl was taking the idea so well, that he still insisted on doing this, knowing the risks. yes, the boy had said he wouldn't allow himself to perish, but... But sometimes you didn't have a say. He himself knew that the chance he had been given now was a matter of luck.

Occasionally, Vyers had caught the glances Timon had sent back their way, and he had to wonder what he was thinking. It almost seemed as though Timon was jealous of all things, but Vyers couldn't quite understand why. Of course, it didn't help that the normally talkative meerkat had been as quiet as the rest of them during the walk, an occurrence that served to make this all the more nerve-wracking.

He wouldn't deny that he was scared. There was just too much to be left up to chance, too much that could go wrong. And then a part of him deep down still wondered whether or not doing this was the right decision. When he had watched her depart for the Red Moon from afar, she had left without saying goodbye for a reason, had she not? Was he only delaying the inevitable? Urd was powerful, yes, but even the Seraph...

But he was getting caught up in those thoughts again, wasn't he? It seemed to be inevitable...

He looked up distractedly as Timon spoke up and nodded. "She will show up soon."
