This... Isn't France? [Complete]
Character(s): Lumiere and anyone who would like to meet him.
Content: Lumiere enters Paixao
Setting: Vanaheim Gate
Time: Week 20, morning
Warnings: None.
Lumiere peered down at the giant circle of scorched earth beneath him in shock. “Sacré bleu!” he cried out before quickly covering his mouth. He knew he had been mad, Cogsworth always good for getting his fire truly burning, but he couldn’t possibly have been responsible for this, could he? Had he hurt anyone? His eyes quickly searched the surrounding area to find that not only was no one thankfully hurt but this was not his Masters castle. This was not anything even close to it and certainly not the little town neighbouring the castle. He looked up at the large gate before him to find two fruitful trees and a line-up of people heading through it.
“Excusez-moi! Pardon me! Un mot, mademoiselle!” Lumiere called out, hoping to grab to attention of one of the individuals standing in line as he hopped toward it. In the end, however, he found himself ignored and forced to wait in line with the others until it was his turn for… Well, he wasn’t exactly sure what.
“Next!” The gatekeeper called out, looking down for only a moment to shuffle through their papers before they looked up again. With no one in sight, the citizen frowned. “… I said next!”
“Oui, Monsieur. I am down here!” A voice called from the ground. “Perhaps it would be better if I were to come around?” Confused, the citizen slowly leaned their head out the booth window and looked down to find a candlestick smiling at him in return. “Ah, there you are. I apologize for the inconvenience but I am afraid I am not all as tall these days as I once was. But, please, continue.”
There had been a lot of strange creatures that had passed through Paixao’s gates but never could this man recall an object. A talking object. The citizen stared at the candelabrum, scribbling off the page of their work and onto their desk. “... Your name?” he said after at least a minute of struggling to spit something out.
Unbothered by the man’s reaction, Lumiere chuckled. There were far worse reactions he could have had, he was sure. “I am Lumiere.” He said with a bow. “And you are?”
“Take this.” The man replied, ignoring the candelabrum’s question entirely. He dropped a small and rather curious looking device into Lumiere’s hold and quickly called out ‘next!’ before the maître d' had the chance to speak. The next person stepped forward and Lumiere was given no choice but to hop forward and into the city.
“Méprisable.” He said to himself before looking over the device the citizen had handed him. “Hm, a gift?”

I'm sorry if this totally bites. SO sorry.
But yes, that had been her mission. On a concious level, to get a better handle on her new home, and on a sub-concious one, to find a way out. She had not been expecting to find a...
A...
Mobile candlestick. It struck her as more curious than strange, after all she'd been through. What sort of odd magic was this? She couldn't help but stare as she found herself wondering what, exactly, was the nature of the object she was looking at.

Having agreed to meet the prince at a local restaurant, it was only then he realized how unfamiliar he was with the city. Had the gate he had come through not been right behind him he could not trace his steps back from where he came. Then again, he did not necessarily take ‘steps’ either, but that was beside the point. If he did not ask for some sort of direction he would never find his way to the beast. The candelabrum gave a frustrated sigh before he began to search the crowd for someone more approachable then those who he had encountered upon entering the city. That was when he spotted Tiana. She was hard to miss when she was staring directly at him.
“Ah, mademoiselle!” he called out, hopping toward her, journal carefully tucked away. “If I could ask for just a moment of your time, I would be most thankful. I’m afraid I have found myself in quite the dilemma and am in need of some assistance.”
[ooc: Poor Tiana, probably thinking ‘not this again’ DX Also, you're a worrywart ♥ ]

Tiana was only startled for a moment when Lumiere talked, although the words he said brought up an all too familiar situation to mind. She paused, hesitant, feeling that only one thing could come next. Tiana wasn't about to kiss a strange candlestick, especially if it was looking like she just might have to kiss a frog again... She'd only spoken with Naveen once so far, and the fact that he had once again been a frog had, in all honestly, left her more confused than the fact that she was in this strange place.
Of course, if he was near the gate, this candlestick was probably just as lost as she had been... Tiana shuddered to think what would have happened if Yuna hadn't found her. So maybe she couldn't help him with a kiss, but she could offer him some information about Paixao. And really, she wasn't sure it was a smooch this object was after.
With a little sigh, Tiana crouched down, trying to get more on the stranger's level. "I think we're all in a bit of a dilemma here," she confessed, rubbing a hand up and down her left arm, "but you seem t'be in even worse trouble. I mean... I'm assumin' you weren't always this way." A pause, and then, "Were you?"

Thankful to have caught the girl’s attention, and even more so fail to frighten her, Lumière came to a halt not far from her feet where he then placed his journal down. “Actually, I was referring to the matter that I am lost.” He explained with a small laugh. “But I see how you would think otherwise.” The candlestick rubbed the back of his head nervously as continued. “You see I am fairly new to this ville and in need of a little direction. I have determined how to use these ‘journals’ but the city itself, she is all so fresh. Mon chéri, if you would so kindly assist me I assure you I would make it up to you by any means possible. My Master, I am afraid, cannot take care of himself as well one would hope. I am almost afraid to see how he has fared in my absents here.”
Gack, I'm so sorry I was gone for so long!

“Oui, that is perfect!” he replied excitedly. “Merci beaucoup, mademoiselle. I believe it was a café of some sort that he had mentioned. Café Earest? Non, non. Café Ersesat? I am afraid the name escapes me.” The candlestick explained in embarrassment before registering what Tiana had asked him. Lumiere stumbled briefly over his words in surprise while he tried to think of a suitable response. “Why, ah, yes! As a matter a fact, you may be of further assistance.” If Cogsworth were there he knew the strict clock would inform he was rushing into things too soon but maybe, just maybe, she was the one. The one they had all been waiting for to break the spell. She certainly had managed to look past his appearance perhaps she could look past princes as well? Now there was a thought Lumiere liked. Why, with this luck, they would all be human again by midnight!
“As of late my master has been… Shall we say, under the weather? He knows very little how to fend for himself. I fear he has gone hungry somewhere – or worse! That is why I must meet with him at once. After I am able to speak with him perhaps I may ask you for further assistance?”

When Lumiere informed her that she could offer some help with his master, Tiana listened intently, completely unaware of what she could have been getting herself into. "Sounds pretty bad," she commented as he explained his master's situation. She wasn't sure how much she liked the idea of a man who couldn't do anything for himself, but perhaps there was a reason... The candlestick did allude to the fact that his master was sick. "Sure, I'd be happy t'help."

Lumiere turned his glance up at Tiana and smiled before he was struck with realization. He may have known where the prince was but he hadn’t the slightest idea where he was. His smile fell but only slightly. He knew he was on the right track. “Now if only I knew where we are.” The candelabrum said and rubbed his head.

But now wasn't the time. She watched as Lumiere found the café where his master was waiting, and the expression didn't falter when he asked where they were. She turned the brochure back to facing her, only to turn it back a moment later. "I'm pretty sure we're here," she said, tapping a spot in the upper western corner of the map. She then glanced over the edge of the paper and brought her finger down to the place where Lumiere had indicated. "So that's th'trip."

The candelabrum listened attentively to Tiana while she pointed out their location, Vanaheim, on the map. An odd name but he had fallen under the impression that in such a foreign place a lot of things would sound strange to him. He watched her finger slide down the page to his destination, perhaps a twinge of worry in his eyes. “It would appear as though I have a long walk ahead of me.” Lumiere said, slowly pulling his attention away from the map. “I will have to leave at once. Mademoiselle, I cannot thank you enough for your kindness. You have been more helpful then I could have ever dreamed of! However, I have but one last request. Mon chéri, what is your name? Who do I owe such thanks to?”

"There's a train, y'know," she informed him, folding up the brochure as he looed away from it. "Might be on the way. Maybe you can hop a ride? Or... Should I come with you?" She was a little worried about this odd being being out on his own. Her concern was put on hold for a moment when he asked her name. She smiled widely. "Tiana. And what about you?"
no subject
"You have done all so much to help me. I am in great debt to you. If there is ever anything I can do in return, do let me know.”
no subject
She stood up, ready to walk off. "Really, it's nothing. I haven't been here that long m'self, I remember what it was like to be new. You don't have to owe me a thing."

The candelabrum shook his head at his warning. If this kept up they had a long train ride ahead of them. He had not been lying. If necessary he would continue to ask Tiana what he could do to repay her as long as they both were in Paixao and he had heard some had been ‘stuck’ in the city for a very long time.
[ooc: Starting to think of wrapping this thread up. Lemme know when you think is good o7]

(ooc| Do you want to do a 'fade to black' for the train ride? If not, your next/my next post could be the last, I think. You tell me. :) )
