Sweetest Of Memories [Active]

Character(s): Naminé, Xion, Roxas, Timon, Simba, and Vyers
Content: The group goes out for ice cream!
Setting: The apartment Naminé shares with Timon, Simba, and Vyers
Time: Week 19, afternoon after they go out for lunch.
Warnings: Possible cuteness?

An argument was only to be expected between Timon and Vyers. Had it not been for their stubbornness, they all would have surly been holding ice cream in their hands and paws a lot sooner. Both appeared to have their own unique take on fashion and both had no trouble finding error in the others choice of what the Nobodies should wear during their outing. It ranged from everything to colours to simply the feel of the fabric itself. The three must have tried on at least twenty different outfits before the meerkat and demon reached an agreement on what worked best. However, even then, the two were notably unsatisfied with the results. Their gaze drifted back to the Nobodies, a look of disapproval given when they caught sight of an article of clothing they found unfit. Like those pants. They did not go with that shirt.

Timon shook his head and folded his arms across his chest. He didn’t care what Vyers said, purple had been a terrible choice. Not that there had been much of a choice, what with the demons wardrobe consisting of almost one colour. Perched on Simba’s head, his gaze travelled back down to the lion. He was glad he never had to worry about clothing him as a cub. He had been trouble enough without trying to dress him. The meerkat could only begin to imagine how well that would have gone over. Pumbaa may have agreed with him regarding his choice of the cub’s wardrobe, the only trouble would have been convincing Simba. When he had his mind set on something, talking him out of it was nearly impossible. The time the cub had decided to make like a monkey and scale the trees like one of them was an excellent example of this. The only way they had managed to get Simba to come down was purely by accident; he had fallen. Thankfully Pumbaa had been there to catch him but Timon had always known those monkeys were a terrible influence…

With a peaceful sigh the meerkat looked up and scanned the area cautiously. Since they had left the apartment he had been on constant watch to ensure that they were not being followed. He had had his suspicions earlier but at this point it had become clear that it had merely been a coincidence that a citizen had been following them for a short while. Timon looked back at the group and groaned. This desert had better of been worth the wait. He didn't understand why they could not have gotten this ice cream stuff back at the restaurant that they had just come from.

“Are we there yet? Lunch was great and all but all this walking is making me hungry again.”

Xion had remained rather quiet during lunch, only talking when someone spoke to her first. She didn't really know what to say, the day's events still making her nervous. Not to mention Timon's obvious distrust, even if he'd stopped yelling at them.

The idea of ice cream cheered her up a bit, but she still stuck closer to Roxas and Namine, ignoring Timon's statement about walking (why was he tired, when he was riding on Simba's head?). "I think we're almost there," she said instead.

Roxas couldn't help but feel awkward with Xion walking next to him. Something about her kept tugging at him, but he didn't know what, or why. He must really have known her before...why else would it be bugging him so much? But it was all right...he'd remember everything eventually, right? And then it would all be the same as it used to be. He bet they used to have a lot of fun together.

He chuckled when Timon complained about walking, forgetting for a moment how the animal had first reacted to the two kids when they walked in with Namine. "Timon, you haven't even been using your own feet. So how can it make you hungry? ...Or are you just complaining because you can?"

...I'm not late.

"You are hungry again already?" Vyers asked incredulously, staring down at Timon. He rolled his eyes with an irritated sigh. "I believe complaining for complaint's sake is a common hobby of his," he muttered under his breath half to himself and half in reply to Roxas.

While he was a bit exasperated that he had had to pay for everyone, Vyers couldn't say he hadn't been expecting it. It was the meerkat's nature to force him to do most of the paying as well as to use most of his things. Vyers was still, however, a little irritated from the insults to his fashion sense that had occurred while the two of them were trying to disguise all three Nobodies (really, he had tried to tell Timon that he had other colors, but he would have none of it! How truly stubborn he was), but even that was fading the longer the day went on.

It was, for the most part, an enjoyable day and he found himself looking forward to the treat.

Not as late as I am |D;

Naminé had also remained quiet, though she'd been watching Roxas and trying to think of why and how his memory chains had gotten broken so suddenly. It still didn't make any sense to her, unless someone had managed to possess her during the night or something. That simple idea sent a violent shiver coursing down her back as they walked and she wrapped her arms around herself, trying to keep her mind from straying down that path again.

Timon's question brought her head back up and she glanced over at the others from under her hood. She'd been drifting a little further away from the group and so she attempted to drift a little bit closer now, but not too close. She didn't want to walk on top of anyone. At least she was walking next to Xion. That helped. And Roxas was on Xion's other side for the most part so they both could keep an eye on him. That was good.

Naminé didn't reply to Timon, preferring to keep quiet for now. They didn't need her to add anything in when there was nothing left for her to say.

I think I can claim on winning the lateness prize. D:

Simba chuckled. He knew by now that Timon's stomach was physically incapable of becoming satisfied, just like Pumbaa's. "Timon, you're always hungry, and we are almost there, so stop complaining."

The lion wasn't too keen on eating ice cream again, as he still remembered the brain freeze from before, but he saw this event as an outing with friends, and he wouldn't mind trying it again. Besides, maybe a different kind of ice cream wouldn't make his head hurt.

[identity profile] whodoyou-see.livejournal.com 2010-07-22 08:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Xion sighed, in response to... well, basically everything Timon had said. "Sea salt ice cream," she corrected, glancing at Roxas and Namine both. She really doubted that this would help Roxas any, but... it didn't hurt to hope, did it? Besides, either way, it would be nice to eat some with friends again.

"I can't wait," Roxas said enthusiastically, without really thinking. Then he paused and fell a step behind the group. Why could he remember what it tasted like, and how much he liked it? He couldn't remember anything else, not even his best friends, but...ice cream was still there? Was it really that important to him? Pictures of him eating it with other people were there in his memory, though their faces were really fuzzy and hard to make out...so much he could barely tell what color hair they had. He knew one of the figures was a little taller, and their hair was maybe...red? And the other one looked like it had a hood on or something, but he really couldn't tell at all.

He blinked when he realized that he'd stopped walking. A few long strides caught him up, but he was still kind of spacey.

Vyers couldn't help but smile at Simba's comment. A person (lion?) after his own heart. It was good to find someone else willing to take his side, or something similar to it.

And then finally their destination appeared in the near distance. The demon was admittedly looking forward to the treat to come. It was a nice reward after everything that he had to go through most days. "I am not sure why you all like that flavor so much." It wasn't bad, no, but he much preferred a nice, simple chocolate. And if he was going to pay, then he wanted to have chocolate. They could have whatever they pleased.

Vyers was so wrapped up in his thoughts of dessert, that he almost didn't notice that Roxas had lagged behind. But, by the time he turned around, the boy had already caught up. Perhaps he had seen something interesting while they had been walking? It seemed likely enough.

Naminé was just happy they were approaching the ice cream. She'd spent so long wondering how it tasted and what it meant to Axel, Roxas, and Xion. It was nice to finally get to experience it. Maybe... maybe it was a friendship thing, something she could look back on and be happy about later.

Maybe...

She'd spent so much time watching them eat the ice cream together and feeling sad that no one would ever do something like that with her. Naminé couldn't help letting her eyes wander over to first Xion and then Roxas. She paused as Roxas did, watching him to be sure something wasn't wrong.

"Are you okay?" she asked gently as he caught up to them again. She couldn't help wondering how the presence of Roxas and Xion here would be affecting Sora, but didn't voice her concerns.

[identity profile] canfinallyroar.livejournal.com 2010-08-04 07:44 am (UTC)(link)
Simba didn't notice Roxas or Namine lag behind, as he had a very noisy meerkat climbing on his head, distracting him from anything else that might be going on.

In fact, the thing he noticed most was how excited Timon had gotten. "Have you eaten ice cream before, Timon?" It could be possible, as he seemed to have been in the city longer than the lion somehow. "Last time I ate it, it made my head hurt."

[identity profile] whodoyou-see.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 02:14 pm (UTC)(link)
That was not what she had said, but Xion dropped it for now. They were almost there, anyway, so he'd be corrected anyway. She noticed Namine and Roxas lagging behind a bit, and slowed her pace to walk with them, still worried about her best friend.

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-08-05 10:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Roxas looked over at Naminé. "Huh? Oh...Yeah..." The answer was far from enthusiastic, but since he'd caught up with everyone else by then she didn't have much room to question him further.

"It's sea-salt ice cream, Timon. And it shouldn't make your head hurt, unless you try to eat too much at once..." Another tug at the back of his head made him pause a second time, except this time he zoned out so badly he didn't catch up with everyone else. He just stood there, staring off into the distance at absolutely nothing.

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2010-08-06 09:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Vyers wasn't surprised at all to hear that Timon's previous encounters with ice cream had lead to a case of brain freeze. He could understand his and Simba's first encounter with the treat leading to such a thing, considering how there wasn't likely to be many ice cream parlors where the two came from, but Timon especially... The demon had a feeling there would be more cases to deal with in the future. "You two should not eat something so cold so quickly," he informed the two with a sigh. "Not everything is meant to be devoured all at once."

This time Vyers noticed Roxas falling behind much sooner, and he stopped and turned around, curious as to what had caught the boy's attention. Although... it didn't seem as though anything had. Roxas just seemed to be staring off into space. "Roxas?" he called.
prismsmemory: (oh... I did do that didn't I? // sigh)

[personal profile] prismsmemory 2010-08-16 03:09 pm (UTC)(link)
Naminé didn't pay attention to what anyone was saying until Roxas stopped again. She paused next to him and looked worriedly at him, wondering if he was remembering something or trying to. Vyers called out to him first, so she didn't say anything else. Instead, she just watched him for traces of memory and tried to see if the chains were slowly returning if this was just some fluke.

[identity profile] canfinallyroar.livejournal.com 2010-08-17 06:19 am (UTC)(link)
Simba turned when he heard Vyers call out for Roxas. Before, he hadn't noticed that he had lagged behind, as he was just excited to be around his friends. He also noticed the long faces just about everyone was wearing. Were they afraid of getting a headache from the ice cream or something?

Roxas was just kind of standing there, and to Simba, it looked like he had a glazed look in his eyes. He said nothing, but waited for him to respond, wondering what was wrong with him.

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-08-19 10:03 am (UTC)(link)
Roxas blinked a few times when Vyers called to him. "Sorry...Just...thinking to myself." He tried to give a reassuring smile, but there was nothing behind it. Forcing it so badly made it look almost like he was grimacing instead.

"How much further is it supposed to be?" he asked, this time very pointedly trying to keep his thoughts from straying any further away from the group. Everyone was already worried about him...the last thing he needed was for them to start getting over-protective just because he couldn't walk somewhere without spacing out all the time.

[identity profile] mysterious-moi.livejournal.com 2010-08-28 01:31 am (UTC)(link)
It was probably a good thing that Vyers wasn't currently paying attention to Timon, as the meerkat's remark would surely have sparked an argument. Granted, such a thing was nothing short of commonplace between the two, but it was unlikely their company would have enjoyed the ensuing battle of egos.

Roxas wasn't fooling Vyers, but with so little context, he wasn't sure how to bring the subject up. Perhaps he would just have to wait and see, or at least bring it up at a later point in time. As it was, they had all made this trip for ice cream and were almost there. They might as well go eat.
prismsmemory: (I would rather not answer that)

[personal profile] prismsmemory 2010-09-01 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
Naminé was also ignoring the real conversation, paying more attention to Roxas than anyone else. So she didn't answer anyone else, just shrugging to Roxas. "It should be soon, right?"

[identity profile] canfinallyroar.livejournal.com 2010-09-01 12:39 am (UTC)(link)
Simba shrugged at Timon's question. "I don't know." He turned around by this time, as it looked like Roxas had snapped out of whatever thoughts he had been wrapped up in.

Without looking back, he called to everyone else. "C'mon guys! Let's get some ice cream!"

[identity profile] whodoyou-see.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 01:33 pm (UTC)(link)
Xion sighed at Timon's comment, both about the thinking and the ice cream, and quietly corrected the meerkat's comment to the keeper when Timon wasn't listening. After that, they all got the ice cream rather quickly, Xion taking three to hand one to Namine and Roxas, since they were lingering in the back.

*FLAILS* I'M SO SORRY I SKIPPED YOU LAST TIME, BOOKIE. AAAAAAAAH ;.;

[identity profile] oath-ofoblivion.livejournal.com 2010-09-16 01:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Roxas blinked once or twice when Xion handed the ice cream to him, guilty that everyone was so worried about him. This whole thing was supposed to be...fun...right?

He just stared at the ice cream in his hand, not really paying attention to the fact he should be eating it before it melted.
