He really hadn't expected Flonne to suddenly vanish. She'd been here almost as long as he had. Laharl had come to take it for granted, but the city--castle? Whatever this place was-- it had once more proven that nothing could be taken for granted.

So soon after his mother had disappeared, the effects of someone important to him vanishing were upon him again. Just... why did it have to be Flonne?

It was for the best! It was better she wasn't here. It was a fact he had to keep reminding himself of.

Flonne had been injured in more ways than one here, much like himself. If she could forget that, it would be better for her. It was things she shouldn't have ever had to even experience, after all. Not to mention this also would free him of that stupid confession. He couldn't decide if he regretted it or not, but he certainly hadn't been ready in the slightest. He still hated being backed into a corner like he had, and repeatedly wondered why he hadn't held out.

Well, then 'Mid-Boss' would have revealed it instead, wouldn't he? At least, that was the impression he'd gotten.

Oh well, whatever. It was all moot now. Flonne would forget it all, and that was that.

Still, Laharl felt miserable inside, for reasons he just couldn't fathom. She was gone, but he really still wished she wasn't.

Sighing, he looked down over the city below him. The sun in the fake sky was vanishing, but it was still clear enough to see, especially from his vantage point, high on a stone arch that was one of many that supported the gigantic domed ceiling.

"Ugh... stupid feelings..." he muttered to no one in particular, resting his head on his drawn up knees. The prang of loneliness just didn't want to go away, and it annoyed him no end.

As the light began to fade, casting deeper shadows through out the city, hands slowly loomed out of the darkness behind Laharl. On either side of him, they froze for a moment, fingers wiggling. An incredible aura of malevolence flowed from the shadows! But before the demon could react, those hands gripped him tight. What new evil was this!?

"Poor little prince~!" a sultry, feminine voice purred. Urd's arms wrapped tightly around Laharl from behind, pressing him into the generous cleavage that was displayed boldly thanks to the low-cut bodice of her dress. Kneeling behind him on the arch, she absently toyed with one of his hair antennae as she continued to hug him close. "Why are you moping up here all by your lonesome?" Though her voice seemed gentle, even sweet, the smirk on her face and the mischievous tilt of an eyebrow revealed she knew exactly what she was doing.

She'd suspected since the pool party that he had a problem with the assets of a mature, adult woman. Urd had only intended on staking out possible points of Organization interest, flying around the domed sky of the city. That's when she saw Laharl, brooding like some dark hero. What better way to get him out of a funk than to antagonize him? She needed to let off some steam anyway. Thus, suppressing any magical aura she might have given off, Urd had used the dimming light to her advantage to sneak up on him.

Now she chuckled softly, squeezing him all the tighter.

"Hnn?" Urd pouted, pushing her lower lip out. "Why should I?" She smiled again, an obviously evil glint in her eye. "Looks like you're in need of comfort, little prince! Why don't you just accept my kindness?" She tilted her head back and laughed...until she realized the poor demon wasn't struggling as much anymore.

Oops. "A-ah. Laharl?" She let him go, floating off the arch to hover in front of him. He was starting to look a little blue around the edges. Had she overdone it? She grinned a little sheepishly, the teasingly seductive tone of her voice gone. "Sorry, kid. I was just playing around."

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-28 05:30 am (UTC)(link)
Urd chuckled nervously, waving a dismissive hand. "Relax, relax! You're okay now, right?" She floated away from him a bit to sit herself gracefully on the arch next to him...but not too close. As amusing as it was to see him react this way, she didn't want him to pass out or anything. She glanced at him from the corner of her eye, sticking her tongue out playfully. "You really should get a less exploitative weakness."

She crossed her legs, revealed by the slit of the buttoned dress and leaned back a bit, supporting her weight on her hands as she gazed out over the city. "What are you doing up here anyway?"

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-28 05:51 am (UTC)(link)
"C'mon, don't be like that," Urd said, lifting her hand to casually flip her hair off her shoulder. Still in profile to him, she glanced down at him once more, a small, mysterious smile curving her lips. "What are you expecting to find up here? Shouldn't you be out investigating that whole castle oblivion thing or whatever?" She reached out a poked him on the shoulder. "Or maybe just doing something befitting an Overlord."

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-28 06:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Hmm? Really?" By the tone of her voice, she clearly didn't believe him. She lifted her eyes to the dome ceiling looming over them. "And what'll be different about tomorrow? Things will probably still be the same." Urd lowered her head a bit, the hair she'd only just swept back falling forward again, obscuring the top half of her face from him.

"I know you miss her, Laharl," she said after a moment, voice soft. "Both of them. You know that's okay, right? To miss someone you care about?"

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-28 06:36 am (UTC)(link)
Urd nodded a bit, uncrossing her legs to cross them the other way. She could have easily given him the love speech he was expecting -- she always had something to say about love, after all. But as she spoke next, it wasn't love she mentioned.

"Look at this place. Everything about it is fake, from the people to the plants. This is a world between worlds, Laharl, and that sort of thing isn't sustainable." She turned her head to face him entirely, face devoid of the usual arrogance and challenge. "Right now, we're the toys of some power we don't understand, but that'll change, one way or the other. I don't believe for a moment that each of us won't be returned to our own worlds someday, where we belong. You'll see Flonne again."

She trailed off into silence, turning away. Her own words reminded her of a fact she'd ignored until now. If they were all brought back to their own worlds, would she ever see any of the friends she'd made again? Would it even be possible to see Genie? A heaviness settled in her heart that she tried to ignore.

"True..." Urd murmured. "Of course, memory is strange...we may not be able to recall the details, but we always remember in some way. I think all of us will be a little bit changed because of this, even if we can't remember." She glanced over at him, the pensive smile on her face giving way to a knowing smirk. "Like this one confession of love I found in the archives of the message board. Something like that will definitely affect a person no matter what, you know~?"

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-28 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
She tapped an expertly manicured nail to her chin, feigning an innocent expression. "What? I never said you confessed," she replied, tilting her nose up and closing her eyes. "This one confession was so adorable, though. The boy was so stubborn but ended up making the girl super happy." She opened her eyes and looked down at Laharl again, leaning towards him a bit. "Who knew someone so dark could love someone so light?"

Pushing herself off the arch, Urd floated in the air in front of the demon. "You're a lot more like yourself when you're like this, little prince. So from now on, whenever you start to feel depressed, just think back to that moment and get fired up." She clenched her fist in front of her face, grinning. "Then go out and kick some ass like I know you can!"

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-29 03:44 am (UTC)(link)
If she seemed perturbed by his reaction, she didn't show it. Instead, Urd struck a suitably heroic pose in the middle of the air, one hand on her hip, the other placing two fingers in a sideways 'V' by her eyes. "And if you ever get bored," she continued, "I'll be happy to show you the power of a goddess." She leaned back as if in an invisible chair, arms behind her head, legs crossed. With a confident smirk, she added, "But I'll make sure to go easy on you..."

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-29 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
"Ohh!" Urd exclaimed, very clearly impressed as she leaned forward, eyes widening. "Now you sound like a real demon. No mercy, right? How exciting~!" She almost seemed patronizing and, as she coyly put a hand to her cheek, her eyes narrowed in calculating amusement. "Of course, I'd never lose, but that confidence is really something!" She put her hands on her knees, the movement causing her cleavage to bounce. "That must be part of what makes Flonne like you so much, mm?"

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-29 04:36 am (UTC)(link)
Urd tossed her hair back, one hand demurely covering her mouth as she laughed merrily. "That's right, little prince! You keep up that mouthy attitude of yours. The more you crow, the more it's obvious to me you're all talk. Unless..." She quickly pointed at him, any illusion of elegance replaced by an energetic, commanding aura. "You wanna spar, kid? We'll cut out the whole nonsense of heroics and villainy and get to the good stuff." Grinning, she punched a fist into her open palm, her hair stirred by a sudden burst of wind.

"I've been needing to let off some stress."

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-29 05:41 am (UTC)(link)
"No tricks?" Urd scoffed. "What kind of demon are you?" Before she even finished the question, she was coming for him, hands curled into fists, her hair streaming behind her. None of her flashier spells were visible yet, just the pure and simple physical strength of a goddess. Faster than any mere mortal, her fist came down at Laharl.

[identity profile] tenshinomakai.livejournal.com 2009-11-29 04:53 pm (UTC)(link)
"This is just the beginning, King Cockroach," Urd purred, her face a composed smirk even as her fist in his shook from their clashing power. Her fist loosened for a second before tightening again, this time with lightening charging from it. If Laharl continued to hold on, he'd be fried by the power crackling his way. To make matters worse, her other hand shot up above her head, summoning up a condensed ball of blue energy that she quickly brought down towards the demon's head.
