Pre-Party Planning [Completed]
Character(s): Urd, Belldandy, Genie
Content: Urd enlists the aid of Belldandy and Genie in getting things ready for the party.
Setting: Jogo da Crianca pool
Time: Noon-ish, Week 12
Warnings: None.
Urd stood over the pool, hands on her hips, brow furrowed in concentration. In preparation for the party, she'd already put on her swimsuit: a metallic silver and black tiger striped bikini that was almost scandalous enough to be banned in certain public areas. On anyone else, it might have been gaudy and just so 80's, but against her dark skin and generous curves, she made it work...like anything she wore.
Swimsuits were the last thing on her mind as she turned to gaze around the immediate area. She'd already set up large tables for any food her friends might bring and she'd cleared a space for a karaoke machine she'd ask Genie to summon. A few large beach balls were floating in the pool and all the chairs were made more comfortable by colorful cushions. But something was missing.
Urd glanced at the sky for any sign of her sister or friend. She'd asked them to meet her here to help, and with the new threat of Hades coming to the party, she wanted to talk security.

“Sorry I’m late, ladies!” Genie called out once the two came into view. “I lost track of time. I hope I didn’t miss anything.” The djinn ran toward them, a cooler and umbrella tucked under one arm and large duffle bag under the other. He had decided to go with a pair of bright yellow swim trunks to match his sandals and white lifeguard singlet. Had his hands not been full he would have removed his sunglasses when he reached the two.
“Wow, looks like you’re all set up already.” He said after taking a glance around the pool. “Might I add that you two also look simply gorgeous in your swimsuits?”

She smirked, draping an arm over her sister's shoulders and winked. "Of course we do. Thanks for noticing, though." Her smirk turned into a grin as she gazed pointedly at his trunks. "That's a good color on you, blue boy. Complements your skin." She stepped forward, tapping the cooler under his arm.
"Tell me you brought drinks."

Hopefully Urd didn't think that Belldandy wasn't a ditz enough to not notice that something was on her elder sister's mind, as her own expression became worried. "Nee-san, what's wrong? You seem to have something you want to say... is it the weather? Should I make it sunnier?" She asked, thinking perhaps Urd was worried about the party itself.

With that he dropped his bag and cooler onto the ground. “And yes, I did bring drinks. Fresh fruit, sandwiches and an all time beach favourite: sunflower seeds. Don’t worry though! I brought a bucket to put the shells in to avoid a mess.” Carefully placing his umbrella with the rest of his stuff, he glanced between the two goddesses questioningly. “What’s up, girlfriend?

"I can't stop him or any other creeps from coming, but we can prepare for them. I think we need to set up some kind of barrier for Heartless, first of all. Maybe even a power dampener...though that might be a little extreme."

The thought of activating a barrier around the pool area had never occurred to him. Though he did approve of it, at least when it concerned the Heartless, he did not necessarily jump at the idea either. As for the idea of a ‘power dampener’, as Urd had referred to it, he was simply taken back. In order to restrain so many visitors’ powers they would have to taint their beverages or trick them into wearing some sort of enchanted accessory. Either way, there was ‘trickery’ involved. At least, as far as his knowledge went concerning ‘dampeners’.
Unsure what to say, and ultimately stunned by Belldandy’s threat, Genie scratched his head. “Uh… Yeah.” He replied, saying the first thing that came to mind. He wasn’t quite sure what was more frightening; Belldandy’s threat or the smile behind it.

She placed a hand on his shoulder, smiling reassuringly. "All of us will be able to handle Hades should he actively try to harm anyone. But I don't think he's stupid enough to challenge all three of us. I'm certain he'll be doing as much conning and manipulating as he can, though, so don't let your guard down too much," she said to both of them.
"A dampener may not be necessary yet, but a barrier for Heartless is a good place to start. It won't be a physical barrier, exactly...Belldandy and I can take care of that." She turned around, taking note of the space around them. "We can set up a perimeter with a program..." She trailed off, looking over her shoulder to Belldandy uncertainly. "It may not even work at all."

He continued to nod and did he best to listen to the conversation between the two girls, however soon found himself lost. Belldandy certainly knew a mouthful, didn’t she? He raised his sunglasses from over his eyes to get a better view of the sphere in her hand. This was certainly a new approach. Maybe he was too old fashion? He had spent most of his time studying the cities culture through literature and artwork. And the odd Google search. The image results quickly forced him to look elsewhere though.

Urd nodded seriously as Belldandy spoke, idly stroking her chin in her best intellectual manner. Before long, though, her eyes went a bit unfocused and she waved her hands. "Alright, sounds good. We'll, uh...we'll do that." With the steadying hand of a first class goddess guiding the flow of their magic, she'd have a much easier time accomplishing her goals.
She turned to Genie next, smiling in her most charming way. She draped her arm over his shoulders. "I do have a specific job for you, though, handsome. See that empty spot under the trees over there?" She pointed with her other hand, bracelets twinkling with the movement. "We need us a karaoke station! Think you could summon one up for us?" She gasped suddenly, smacking his back in her excitement. "Oh! And a bar, of course."
Jobs meted out, Urd put her hands on her hips and grinned. "After we work on security, I think this place could use more decorations. What do you guys think?"

It reminded her of the time when Peorth was the proctor for Urd's first class examination, when Urd had almost no grip on her powers whatsoever. The thought crossed her mind that perhaps one day, in Paixao, if the circumstance called for it... she may need to undo Urd's seal. It would break all sorts of heavenly laws, but if one day they were to face Maleficent-san and Hades-san or whoever else who might be a bieng of power who threatened the quality of life for those residing in Paixao, it may come to undoing Urd's seal and her own. But hopefully it would never have to come to that.
But looking at Belldandy's face, one would assume her mind was vacant and she wasn't thinking much of anything at all. "I... I'll go ahead and take care of the barrier for the Heartless, at the very least." She bowed to both her elder sister and Genie-san, before going off and programming the barrier around the perimeter.

Cut off by Belldandy, he lowered his hands and turned to examine her decorations. “Oh.” It wasn’t quite what he had expected but nice none the less. “No,” he said, “it’s not over the top at all. I like it! Good choice. The balloons make it easier to spot the pool from far away.” Genie nodded, placing his glasses back over his eyes again. “And if you need any help setting up that barrier feel free to ask.”
He then turned to her older sister, a notable frown appearing over his features. “Now you don’t really want me to put in a bar, do you? Because alcohol and water, they don’t mix. Well, they do, but I’m referring to the pool water. That has disaster written all over it.”

"And why not?" She shifted her weight, one hand on her hip tilted to the side, the other summoning up a tiki torch. Raising an eyebrow at him, she forced it into the grass. "With a lifeguard like you, what could possibly go wrong?" She walked a few feet to the right and repeated the action. "Besides, I can't be the only one wanting something more adult around here," she added dryly.

“Hu?” Returning to reality turned to the goddess at her question. “Oh, if you drink? No, I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t have a problem with others drinking either as long as they do so responsibly. I just refuse to supply the liquor. I think you’re old enough by now to find your own means.”

With that, she turned and headed towards Belldandy to check on the status of security.

She then pulled out a gift for her elder sister: a bottle of Dance of the Dragon sake that she found in a nearby convenience store before coming here. "I thought you might like this!" She smiled, handing it to Urd.
Just be sure to keep Belldandy away from the cola during this party.

Thankfully in the case of the requested karaoke station he already had a certain set up in mind. With little thought the djinn snapped his fingers and summoned a forty two inch television in the provided space. Followed by this were two duel fifteen inch speakers and four microphones and stands. The karaoke machine itself was placed out of harm’s way in the television stand underneath. As a final touch he hung a disco ball just above the microphone stands from a nearby tree.
Feeling accomplished, he placed his hands on his hips and turned to look at the two goddesses. If that was they required of him he would report to his soon to be summoned lifeguard tower and set up camp for the afternoon.

Her eyes widened in surprise at the appearance of one of her favorite brands of sake. Grinning, she quickly snatched it from Belldandy's hands, hugging it close as if precious. "This is great! I haven't had any decent sake since I finished up my Dragon God bottle!" It seemed all the best brands had "dragon" in the title. She reached forward with her free arm and pulled the other goddess in for a quick, gentle hug. "Thanks, Bell."
She turned, watching Genie set up the karaoke station with a deceptively impassive expression. "I think that's about it," she said to her sister even as her eyes remained trained on the djinn. She finally glanced away to give Belldandy another small smile. "Unless you had anything to add?"

"I'll help keep an eye on Hades-san, should anything happen." She said. "I sincerely hope that nothing should come to pass, though." Beginning to walk back toward Genie, Belldandy was glad that her sister found such a wonderful friend, and she was also looking very much forward to meeting several new people.

“Me too.” Genie said in agreement, picking his belongings off the ground. “With all the precaution we’ve taking I’m sure he’ll be have no choice but to be on his best behaviour, or at least close. I’ll be sure to keep a watchful eye on him too. He won’t be able to so much as make one step without me watching him. Speaking of which, do you think he even takes steps or just floats? Or maybe he slithers… Oh well, it’s not important. Point is we’ve got this place under tight security; should he make so much as once false move we’ll have him. Don’t worry about a thing, Urd. We’ve got this.”

"Thanks, guys," she replied. She looped one arm over Belldandy's shoulders and leaned over to pull Genie close too. Arms draped over the two of them, she grinned with mischievous amusement. "This party is going to be amazing."
((I'm thinking of ending the thread here, but if you guys want another response or anything else, feel free to post!))
