Pre-Party Planning [Completed]

Character(s): Urd, Belldandy, Genie
Content: Urd enlists the aid of Belldandy and Genie in getting things ready for the party.
Setting: Jogo da Crianca pool
Time: Noon-ish, Week 12
Warnings: None.

Urd stood over the pool, hands on her hips, brow furrowed in concentration. In preparation for the party, she'd already put on her swimsuit: a metallic silver and black tiger striped bikini that was almost scandalous enough to be banned in certain public areas. On anyone else, it might have been gaudy and just so 80's, but against her dark skin and generous curves, she made it work...like anything she wore.

Swimsuits were the last thing on her mind as she turned to gaze around the immediate area. She'd already set up large tables for any food her friends might bring and she'd cleared a space for a karaoke machine she'd ask Genie to summon. A few large beach balls were floating in the pool and all the chairs were made more comfortable by colorful cushions. But something was missing.

Urd glanced at the sky for any sign of her sister or friend. She'd asked them to meet her here to help, and with the new threat of Hades coming to the party, she wanted to talk security.

"My apologies for being late, Nee-san!" The usually punctual Belldandy materialized before Urd. It was an odd sensation being able to transport herself without the typical aid of mirrors, but Paixao was indeed a mysterious place; Belldandy had to make a note of familiarizing herself with its type of energy as to be able to fully utilize her powers. "It took me quite a while to find a few ingredients and recipes." She explained, carrying large trays of food varying from cookies to sandwiches to chips and the like; things easy to eat for those who wanted to sit around and socialize. "I certainly hope that this party goes well, Nee-san!" She giggled.

"Oh, that's right! I nearly forgot!" Belldandy gasped, quickly folding her hands together as a white light emanated from her being, glowing, as she rearranged the atoms in her clothes to form into a stylish one-piece with a cloth wrapping around her waste. "I certainly hope this style fits the occasion; it's been so long since I've been swimming!" She enthusiastically commented, glad that her elder sister approved of the refreshments. "was there anything else we should take care of before all of your guests Wrrive?"

Belldandy had nothing to worry about; she had not been nearly as late as the genie. Having lost track of time unpacking his belongings in his new apartment, as well as practicing a few new recipes, it all came down to a mad dash from one end of the city to another. He could only hope he wasn’t too late, it was awfully rude to keep everyone waiting.

“Sorry I’m late, ladies!” Genie called out once the two came into view. “I lost track of time. I hope I didn’t miss anything.” The djinn ran toward them, a cooler and umbrella tucked under one arm and large duffle bag under the other. He had decided to go with a pair of bright yellow swim trunks to match his sandals and white lifeguard singlet. Had his hands not been full he would have removed his sunglasses when he reached the two.

“Wow, looks like you’re all set up already.” He said after taking a glance around the pool. “Might I add that you two also look simply gorgeous in your swimsuits?”

Turnign to face Genie, Belldandy gave him a smile. "You're too kind, Genie-san; you look quite handsome yourself!" She complemented him in turn. He certainly was dressed for the occasion, wasn't he? He probably could've been a party all by himself.

Hopefully Urd didn't think that Belldandy wasn't a ditz enough to not notice that something was on her elder sister's mind, as her own expression became worried. "Nee-san, what's wrong? You seem to have something you want to say... is it the weather? Should I make it sunnier?" She asked, thinking perhaps Urd was worried about the party itself.

Genie smiled at the two in return for their kind words. “Thank you, thank you. I wanted to go bold. After all, it helps to be able to see the lifeguard from a fair distance. Assuming, of course, you need a lifeguard. Having the experience and all I thought it would be helpful to have someone else watching over all the kids that stop by this afternoon. You know how it is with big crowds.” He shrugged. “Oh well, I guess it can’t be helped.”

With that he dropped his bag and cooler onto the ground. “And yes, I did bring drinks. Fresh fruit, sandwiches and an all time beach favourite: sunflower seeds. Don’t worry though! I brought a bucket to put the shells in to avoid a mess.” Carefully placing his umbrella with the rest of his stuff, he glanced between the two goddesses questioningly. “What’s up, girlfriend?

"We could always make a set of rules, Nee-san, and post them at the entrance." Belldandy attempted to propose a solution. "Using a barrier and perhaps a dampener would be prudent, as I don't believe that any powers should be necessary in the duration of the party without special permissions, in which case we could always create accessories for ourselves to negate a lock we place around the immediate area." Belldandy continued. "Besides, even if Hades-san decides to not enjoy himself in a cordial manner... I would be willing to mete out his punishment, although I certainly hope it doesn't come to that." She finished off, her expression smiling as ever, yet a certain weight was behind it showing that she was indeed serious.

“Hades?” Genie repeated in concern. Did the god truly intend on coming? Why, what was he planning now? As much as he believed he could simply be out looking to have a good time, he equally felt a good time could involve harming others. His mouth twisted at the thought. The djinn had no intention of snooping, however after their little meeting was adjourned he would surely check the goddess journal. Now he was curious. He listened further to what Urd and her sister had to say.

The thought of activating a barrier around the pool area had never occurred to him. Though he did approve of it, at least when it concerned the Heartless, he did not necessarily jump at the idea either. As for the idea of a ‘power dampener’, as Urd had referred to it, he was simply taken back. In order to restrain so many visitors’ powers they would have to taint their beverages or trick them into wearing some sort of enchanted accessory. Either way, there was ‘trickery’ involved. At least, as far as his knowledge went concerning ‘dampeners’.

Unsure what to say, and ultimately stunned by Belldandy’s threat, Genie scratched his head. “Uh… Yeah.” He replied, saying the first thing that came to mind. He wasn’t quite sure what was more frightening; Belldandy’s threat or the smile behind it.

[identity profile] my-blessedbell.livejournal.com 2009-09-29 05:48 pm (UTC)(link)
"I've already encountered a few Heartless when I first came here." Belldandy stated. "On top of that, I've also been studying the form of energy in Paixao... while it's taken me a little time to get used to it, translating our programming language into a code that suits Paixao's environment isn't all that difficult, Nee-san." She continued, holding out her right hand as a sphere of energy formed, formulas appearing and encircling it, entwining throughout several heart-shaped openings within it. "I've already taken the initiative to write a base for an anti-Heartless program based on our own anti-demonic programs. Creating a magical decompositioning field shouldn't be entirely too difficult, either." She once again smiled, as the strands of chestnut-colored hair swayed in the wind.

Urd was right, there was no way Hades was that foolish. To challenge one of them: maybe. But all three? That was just asking for trouble. Two goddesses and a genie? With power like that it was a wonder why they weren’t the ones controlling the city. They certainly had the capability if they so chose to do so. No, if the god were cause trouble it would be as she had said; by manipulating those around him. He would have to keep a special eye on Hades. If anyone else got caught up in one of his evil schemes because of him, Genie wasn’t quite sure what he’d do with himself. The guilt would surely be unbearable.

He continued to nod and did he best to listen to the conversation between the two girls, however soon found himself lost. Belldandy certainly knew a mouthful, didn’t she? He raised his sunglasses from over his eyes to get a better view of the sphere in her hand. This was certainly a new approach. Maybe he was too old fashion? He had spent most of his time studying the cities culture through literature and artwork. And the odd Google search. The image results quickly forced him to look elsewhere though.

"I think that's a lovely idea, Nee-san!" Belldandy clapped her hands together, and (un)suprisingly enough several balloons and ribbons were established around the perimeter-gate of the pool of varying shapes, sizes, and colors. "Aa... did I overdo it?" She tilted her head slightly; she was still attempting to get used to the strings of energy that Paixao had to offer, as she blushed slightly at the sudden outburst of her powers.

It reminded her of the time when Peorth was the proctor for Urd's first class examination, when Urd had almost no grip on her powers whatsoever. The thought crossed her mind that perhaps one day, in Paixao, if the circumstance called for it... she may need to undo Urd's seal. It would break all sorts of heavenly laws, but if one day they were to face Maleficent-san and Hades-san or whoever else who might be a bieng of power who threatened the quality of life for those residing in Paixao, it may come to undoing Urd's seal and her own. But hopefully it would never have to come to that.

But looking at Belldandy's face, one would assume her mind was vacant and she wasn't thinking much of anything at all. "I... I'll go ahead and take care of the barrier for the Heartless, at the very least." She bowed to both her elder sister and Genie-san, before going off and programming the barrier around the perimeter.

Genie shared a sly smile at the goddess upon contact. He had a feeling she had already assigned a job or two from him, even before he had come. However, he was always happy to help, no matter the task… Usually. He doubted Urd would ask too much of him and after the request for a karaoke station, he found he had been right. The djinn chuckled, unbothered by the abuse taken to his back. “You got it!” he cheered, cracking his fingers before raising them toward the barren area. “One souped up, top of the line, complete karaoke station coming right – Wait, bar? You want to put in a bar?”

Cut off by Belldandy, he lowered his hands and turned to examine her decorations. “Oh.” It wasn’t quite what he had expected but nice none the less. “No,” he said, “it’s not over the top at all. I like it! Good choice. The balloons make it easier to spot the pool from far away.” Genie nodded, placing his glasses back over his eyes again. “And if you need any help setting up that barrier feel free to ask.”

He then turned to her older sister, a notable frown appearing over his features. “Now you don’t really want me to put in a bar, do you? Because alcohol and water, they don’t mix. Well, they do, but I’m referring to the pool water. That has disaster written all over it.”

[identity profile] ttlynotblue.livejournal.com 2009-10-01 08:07 pm (UTC)(link)
“A lot could go wrong.” He replied and folded his arms across his chest in disapproval. “People take risks and do unpredictable things when under the influence of alcohol. Someone could easily get hurt. Not to mention the fact that this is a public park! In most areas drinking alcohol in a public place is prohibited and something offenders are often charged or arrested for.” Genie sighed. “However, this is your party and because of that you are entitled to do whatever you like… Except give any alcohol to minors. Not that I think you would but, well, who knows what’ll happen later. You and the other adults can drink just don’t expect to get your liquor from me. Sorry.”

Boy Scout? Genie was no mere scout, he was Uniformed Scout Leader! Responsible for organizing the activities of the group, and training the youth members through the Scout programme. He had one of the highest positions there were. However, he had the feeling this information would be of little use to the goddess - unless of course they were in some sort of survival situation. In that case he could show her how he earned so many of his badges. His sash was so full of them he barely had room to sew any more on. Reminded of his many scouting days he sighed happily at the thought.

“Hu?” Returning to reality turned to the goddess at her question. “Oh, if you drink? No, I don’t have a problem with that. I don’t have a problem with others drinking either as long as they do so responsibly. I just refuse to supply the liquor. I think you’re old enough by now to find your own means.”

Speaking of which, the First Class Goddess was just finishing up the warding circle used for the barrier, as a flurry of feathers from Holy Bell made her presence known as Belldandy's singing came to a halt with the final note. The glowing stopped, as she turned to her elder sister with a smile from both Belldandy and Holy Bell. "I've taken care of the warding field; Heartless should not be able to enter and disrupt the party, Nee-san." She reported.

She then pulled out a gift for her elder sister: a bottle of Dance of the Dragon sake that she found in a nearby convenience store before coming here. "I thought you might like this!" She smiled, handing it to Urd.

Just be sure to keep Belldandy away from the cola during this party.

Genie quirked a brow at the goddess, flattery would get her nowhere. Although, he couldn’t say he didn’t enjoy it. He did strive to look and do his best when he could and the fact that it paid off? Hey, that was great. The genie was rarely particular about things but when he was, well, it was as bad as his golf swing. He would spend countless hours to find the perfect clothing combination for a special occasion or mix enough drinks to get an entire continent drunk before he was satisfied with the results.

Thankfully in the case of the requested karaoke station he already had a certain set up in mind. With little thought the djinn snapped his fingers and summoned a forty two inch television in the provided space. Followed by this were two duel fifteen inch speakers and four microphones and stands. The karaoke machine itself was placed out of harm’s way in the television stand underneath. As a final touch he hung a disco ball just above the microphone stands from a nearby tree.

Feeling accomplished, he placed his hands on his hips and turned to look at the two goddesses. If that was they required of him he would report to his soon to be summoned lifeguard tower and set up camp for the afternoon.

Belldandy shook her head, after gratefully accepting her elder sister's embrace. "Nothing at all, Nee-san." She responded to her inquiry with a smile on her face. Everything seemed to be set up from the pool to the refreshments to the karaoke station, and their swimsuits. Now all that were missing were guests, but Nee-san's post should have taken care of that soon enough.

"I'll help keep an eye on Hades-san, should anything happen." She said. "I sincerely hope that nothing should come to pass, though." Beginning to walk back toward Genie, Belldandy was glad that her sister found such a wonderful friend, and she was also looking very much forward to meeting several new people.

He tilted his head to the side while he observed Urd’s display of affection toward the sake her sister had given her. Of all things, this oddly made him feel guilty. How rude he must have looked, he should have brought her something too. Was it too late now? Genie eyed the bottle in the woman’s hands worriedly. Surely if he produced something for the goddess at the end of the party it would make up for his error. At least, he hoped so.

“Me too.” Genie said in agreement, picking his belongings off the ground. “With all the precaution we’ve taking I’m sure he’ll be have no choice but to be on his best behaviour, or at least close. I’ll be sure to keep a watchful eye on him too. He won’t be able to so much as make one step without me watching him. Speaking of which, do you think he even takes steps or just floats? Or maybe he slithers… Oh well, it’s not important. Point is we’ve got this place under tight security; should he make so much as once false move we’ll have him. Don’t worry about a thing, Urd. We’ve got this.”
