In the coming dusk, you will call on us [Active]

Character(s): Xemnas, open o.o
Content: The Superior graces the streets of Paixao, a certain concept in mind.
Setting: Jogo da Crianca area [G6]
Time: 'Midday'.
Warnings: Uh. No? :D?

Darkness was only the mirror opposite of light, and Xemnas always walked the line of nothingness between the two; this day made little difference from any other day, wherein he trailed the border of light. But there was one strangeness to this day, one outstanding circumstance. Xemnas, Organization XIII’s Superior, was gracing the dark streets of Paixao.

His goal was of the simplest of sorts: he would use the mess from City Hall to his advantage. Unlike someone such as Number XII, his face was not one to be recognized so easily by any other, as far as he knew. He donned a white lab coat, stead of his usual robe, kept his head held high defiantly and eyes sharpened to the darkness, catching the movement of the Heartless’ tell – their yellow eyes – and executing them with a swift slice from the glowering red nothingness.

Someone here, in this city, would need help. And who better for them to find than one who was accustomed to the ways of Darkness? One who was even willing to ‘keep them safe’ and aid them in ways that few could do. All of this for a small fee – study, of course, as well as throwing off the scales – not that they would ever know of it.

Power.

Control.

These things were within his nothingness. Darkness may be strong, depending who was wielding it to their will, but Xemnas knew how to fight it. Darkness, Light, it could all be controlled. Same as Nothingness.

Around him, waves of Heartless fell; yellow eyes extinguished, making the surrounding area a complete pitch of black, and Xemnas smirked. Static ran along the blades held at his sides, the only things to be seen.

'Help the citizens'. Not an order he ever expected to hear, nor one he was at ease with. He was neither precisely social, nor well-suited to such things. Perhaps once upon a time he would have been more willing, but now... things were different. They had changed, as so much had.

But this wasn't to say he wouldn't listen. He had heard; he would obey. That was simply the way of things. And so, despite his misgivings, he was out in the streets, looking to see what he could do to help those who might need it. Of course, he was hardly wearing the coat of the Organization. Even in the darkness, that would be folly - although he had taken to wearing darker colors. Dark blues and greys, in order to better pass unnoticed.

Not, he had to admit, the best thing to be wearing if you were supposed to be helping. But he could deal with that. It meant fewer people to bother him along his path. Fewer things to worry about.

However, he had not expected to find Xemnas himself out in the streets. This would bear further inspection, Saïx drifting closer, although still maintaining a respectful distance from both the man and his blades. If he was busy, Saïx had no wish to interrupt him.

"And to you," Saïx answered with a nod. Although he had taken to answering to a name that was not his own since the days they had been first ordered underground he could hardly say the same of Xemnas. Nor would he dare to guess at what the man would choose to call himself by. For now, it didn't matter. Not until someone beyond just them arrived.

For now it was simply them and the Heartless.

Lenne was becoming increasingly weary of the darkness, and now from what she was reading and hearing over the journals, heartless were out in force. This simply could not be allowed to continue. She took up her staff and headed out, mostly blind, into the city.

After an alarmingly short time, she began to come across a shadow or three, very small groups, which surprised her. She had been working on her spell casting, and managed to vaporize them with her well aimed Fire and Thunder spells, which also had the bonus effect of lighting up the darkness for a while.

She tried not to stray too far from "home", but she could hear the sounds of others fighting the heartless a short distance away, so she decided to fight her way toward them. Bursts of lightning and Fire, and a few awkward stabs and whacks with her staff helping her travel mostly unscathed.

As she got closer, she could distinguish two male voices (she knew better than to assume human by now), but she did not recognize them. Being unable to see them, along with their unfamiliarity, made her suddenly cautious. She couldn't put her finger on the feeling, and decided it must simply be nerves from the heartless around her. They gave her the heebie jeebies.

Though there was no telling what else might find itself at home in the dark.

Interesting indeed, a grin crossing Saïx's face. He had no real love for civil conversation, but to forge an alliance on blood and death? That he could enjoy, or as much as he could be said to enjoy anything. That and it would give him a chance to dust off his long unused social graces, should all go well.

He offered the slightest hint of a nod at Xemnas' glance - a sort of wordless mark of understanding - before summoning his own blade in a flash of moon-pale light. Xemnas had hardly gotten rid of all of the Heartless, and it was but a moment's work to cut through them.

"The streets are not the safest anymore."

The voices that called out to her startled her greatly. Their unfamiliarity, coupled with the fact that she still could not see who they belonged to made her very uneasy. And yet, she responded. No need to provoke them, and since they both warned and appeared to offer assistance, they did not sound like they were planning to harm her. Perhaps they were just out dealing with the heartless, as well.

"I am managing, thank you! And all the more reason to take to the streets," she responded to both voices in turn, between castings of FIRE! and a few whacks of her staff. She was getting better at this! She was becoming more and more tempted to summon an aeon, however. Her casting was not her greatest skill, but summoning really sapped her energy. Fortunately, she was still dealing with the lesser heartless, so a summon would hopefully remain unnecessary.

Managing, yes. But for how long and how well. After all, she had a heart with which to draw them, unlike Xemnas and himself. But there was no guarantee that she knew that matter. A matter that would need to be rectified, although taking care of the Heartless came first.

In this case, the Heartless further out, given Xemnas' own proximity to the girl; another swing of his blade mowing down a handful of Shadows. Simple fare, that fell so easily.

"I've heard that the Heartless are drawn to the former," he commented, as if it was nothing more than a statement of what to expect from the weather.

If Lenne had felt unsure before, she was full-blown uneasy now. While she was still undecided why, their inquisitive yet almost flat way of speaking concerned her. But she had never thought of it that way, before. Were her powers of her heart, or her soul, or both? Or neither.

"Thank you," she replied to Xemnas' initial observation, deciding to respond to it as a compliment instead of the sizing-up that it felt like. "I suppose they are a little bit of both," she added quietly, wondering simultaneously about where her powers did come from and also why a complete stranger would ask such a question right off.

Heartless drawn to the former what, exactly? She lit up another Heartless with an agitated THUNDER! more to see how close the men were to her, possibly catch a glimpse. Something about his inflection tugged at the back of her mind, though, and her thoughts drifted swiftly back to the first man's question. ...these creatures were drawn to her... heart? Unlikely, but that seemed to be the implication.

A little of both. A good answer. Power was not entirely contained in the heart, they were proof of that. And yet even then, it was undeniable that they had lost something undefinable when they had become that which they were. A loss that was also a gain, in some ways, although she certainly didn't need to know that.

"Indeed," Saïx answered with a nod, as the sudden flash of lightning offered a split second glimpse of who he was speaking to. "These shadows have no threat apart from numbers but that may not always be the case. Who knows what else lurks just out of sight?"

Saix seemed to be voicing Lenne's previous thoughts. She was still unsure exactly who her present companions were, and yet, she didn't have the desire to ask. Maybe it was better NOT to know.

"I have never been afraid of the dark, but you are right," she responded in kind, attempting that aloof, observant tone that Saix seemed to have perfected, and falling quite far from it. "I had been wondering the same thing," she added truthfully, almost surprised at her own honesty. Oh well. She hadn't really revealed anything more than a cautious nature.

She set off a FIRE! and a THUNDER! in rapid succession on a group of unfortunate Shadows, her heart racing with adrenaline of a source she still couldn't put a finger on.
