Not in the moon's eye [active]

Character(s): Saïx and NiGHTS
Content: In the dark of the city, something not entirely friendly stirs
Setting: Somewhere
Time: Who can tell, with all the darkness?
Warnings: Potential violence

Ever since the former lord of the castle had been disposed, Saïx had been all but itching for a good fight. A chance to do as he had been born to do. To fight, to hunt, to know the 'joy' that came from tearing down an enemy with his own hands, his own blade. But the fight had been given the Larxene. Fitting, yes, but discomfiting. He could only silence the rage for so long once it had been awoken so thoroughly to the prospect. But he had been forced to, once it had seemed that this fight was not to be his.

Another outlet would need to be found, lest it tear free of its own accord.

The sudden plunging of the city into darkness... well, he could hardly claim to have known it would come, but it was certainly not something he intended to go to waste. Darkness called to darkness. And it would be hard to see just who he was in the darkness. Besides, he didn't need his eyes. His other senses would serve well enough in a time such as this.

Which only served to spur him forward into the darkened streets, yellow eyes half-lidded and cruel as he stalked through the streets, looking for a promising option. He had his intentions. Now he needed just one thing more. Someone to serve as the other half of the equation.

If NiGHTS knew the way Saïx felt about wounds, she would have grinned - that was how she thought about them, herself. From time to time, NiGHTS had allowed Visitors to escape - scars or no - and it had often gotten her into trouble with Wizeman. Come to think of it, that had been around the time NiGHTS had started to get bored.

"Not bad," NiGHTS told Saïx with a headbutt to the window frame, causing it to crack.

"I'm sure you have," replied NiGHTS, with another dark chuckle and another headbutt to the window frame to crack it again. A thought sprang to her, unbidden. This is the sort of thing I used to do with Reala. It was an uncomfortable thought, and NiGHTS shoved it from her mind. She wondered where he was and what he was doing.

Enough of that. There were dolls to frighten and laugh at.

NiGHTS didn't sense any Ideya at all coming from the citizens - a sure sign that all was neither right nor what it seemed. It was perhaps because of that distinct lack that NiGHTS didn't particularly feel any guilt for scaring them like this, but then again, she often played pranks or scared people in her home world. And, of course, there was the fact that she was just as likely to help someone as she was to trick them, depending on the mood she was in at that particular moment.

And crack went the window again, and NiGHTS decided to concentrate on the moment. Surely one night of slightly less-than-harmless fun couldn't hurt, now, could it?

NiGHTS never was one for patience. It took one more slam against the window frame (with the exception of her draconic form, she wasn't terribly strong), but she was in, changing from her catlike form to something much less familiar - and much more menacing. Her eyes glowed as she snarled at them with a grin.

"Hello," she purred, chuckling darkly at the way the creatures cowered, a poor imitation of terror on their faces. Oh, well. It was better than nothing.

To NiGHTS' surprise - she didn't particularly like staying indoors if she could help it (despite the city being under a large dome and therefore essentially always being indoors, in a sense - but that was a line of thought better suited for Owl), so she hadn't known - the candles in the room began to flicker and die as the darkness flooded into the house. Well, that was interesting - and it made the game that much easier.

She closed her eyes and rose into the air, flying silently over the room in order to murmur something at the back of one of the inhabitants, laughing at the way they screamed.

Hm. It was a good thing NiGHTS didn't normally spend time indoors; she would have been annoyed that there wasn't any variety inside. Must everything in this city be the same? She made a mental note to go outside the city and explore the next time she felt like it. Maybe things would be more interesting out there. In fact, she found it rather odd that she hadn't done it yet.

The maren laughed again, light and happy for a moment before she remembered that oh, no, she was supposed to be a bad guy for a moment. Whoops. She supposed she was rusty. Luckily, the citizens had been frightened by it anyway.

NiGHTS, truth be told, was getting rather bored. She flew easily out of the building (there, that was better; there was hardly any room in there anyway) and grinned at Saïx. "I don't know," she told him. "I think I'd rather play a game." And what kind of game? Why, the sort of game where one demonstrated one's strengths, of course.

Besides, the Nightmaren had been wondering what this man would be like when he wasn't merely scaring people. It sounded more fun than what they were doing right now.

"Hm~" NiGHTS chuckled. "Why don't you show me what you can do?" It was an old game, perhaps older than NiGHTS herself, but it had somehow never lost its charm over the millennia. Besides, it had been a good while since NiGHTS had had a friendly game like this.

"Does that sound fun to you?"

"Well, then," NiGHTS responded, a grin of her own on her face. "Where should we go for our game?" It'd have to be an open space of some sort, or at least somewhere roomy. One couldn't play a game of this type, after all, without drawing some form of attention - not that NiGHTS minded. Anyway, who could see them, in this darkness?

"Maybe the park would be. Someone burned it badly recently, but it's wide enough to be used," came the response. Anyway, NiGHTS couldn't get out of the city, at the moment; there were thorns everywhere, and even NiGHTS' Paraloop couldn't get her through the thorns. Annoying, to be certain, but it wasn't something that bothered her at the moment, especially with an opponent in the works.

"All right!" NiGHTS laughed, cheerily doing as Saïx asked her. She'd normally had admonished him about being so bossy, as she definitely didn't like that sort of thing, but she was having so much fun she didn't particularly care about it. "Let's see if you can keep up," she told him, as she flew quickly towards the area. She'd been here for several months, now, and being a Nightmaren, she could find her way around easily, even in the darkness.

It didn't take long for NiGHTS to reach the park - and she doubted that Saïx would be far behind. She grinned back at him, whirling idly overhead. "Well, then," the maren nearly purred, a soft yet dark smile on her face, "this should be fun, shouldn't it?" Nothing like a friendly match to drive away one's boredom, and it had been awhile since NiGHTS had been in a decent fight.
