A Genie and a Goddess Walk Into A Bar... [Complete]

Character(s): Urd, Genie
Content: Urd goes house hunting and hangs out with Genie
Setting: ...kind of all over the place?
Time: Afternoon, Week 6
Warnings: None!

High above the roofs of the city's buildings, Urd floated in place. She was nearly touching the intricately painted and engineered dome sky. She scanned the streets and houses below before lowering her altitude slightly, flying forward.

Where would be a good place to set up a home away from home? She wanted to be in the heart of all the action, but the action seemed spread throughout the city. It was a shame she couldn't live up here somehow. She'd be able to keep her eye on everything that way.

Urd smiled to herself, long white hair streaming out behind her as she flew. A tall building would do. Perhaps one of the more expensive looking hotels? Even without any faux foliage or real money, she had confidence enough in charming her way in. And she could always lie a little...if she really wanted.

And if she found herself next to some of the interesting people she'd already come across over the journals, that would be even better.

Urd had downed her entire drink without as much as a wince; if that wasn’t impressive, Genie didn’t know what was. He tried to imagine the last time he had indulged himself in an alcoholic beverage other than wine or Champaign, but could only think of the sake he had tried back in Japan. Now that had certainly been an interesting night. He didn’t quite remember how he’d gotten back to his hotel room, but somehow he had managed.

“Ah, thank you. Good to see you looking better so soon. If only that stuff worked like that for everyone – everyone over the respectable age to drink, I mean.” The djinn smiled, pleased to hear the drink had met her approval. “And don’t worry, it was really my fault. Definitely need more practise.”

He paused for a moment, noticing the look the goddess had given him from the corner of his eye. His suspicions of her thoughts were quickly confirmed when she spoke. Genie found himself, for the first time with Urd, not surprised by her words. He predicted such a subject would arise, at least part of it, anyway. A meek smile appeared on his lips.

“I suppose.” He replied, looking past Urd for a moment in thought. “Power isn’t everything though. Fame, fortune, they’re not always necessary. A beggar could be twice as happy as a king, if not more so.” The genie leaned against the counter as well, eyeing the goddess suspiciously. “You do realize the universe is ruled by law though, right? Everything -if not everyone- is bound by something. I have rules to follow just like everyone else... I'm not a bad boy if that's what you were hoping for. Stripes do NOT look good on me. I mean, HELLO! That is SO last fall. It's all about bright and bold now.”

Appearing in a striped prison uniform before Urd, he rattled the chains to his handcuffs in front of her face in frustration.
