A Royal Arrival [Complete]
Character(s): Zelda, NiGHTS
Content: Zelda arrives in Paixao.
Setting: Vanaheim gate
Time: afternoon
Warnings: none
Zelda opened her eyes and blocked out the sun with a hand, temporarily blinded by the light. As her vision, so used to dreary rain and twilight, grew accustomed to the harsh afternoon light, she tried to ascertain where she was. She saw before her a spectacular domed area, perhaps a village or town, and a short line to enter. Bewildered, she moved to the back of the line. Perhaps the guard would have information.
The guard was a surprisingly young woman with pale blue eyes and short blond hair. She smiled brightly at Zelda, but showed no recognition. "Welcome to Paixao, ma'am!"
An ivory-colored contraption was held out to her, and she took it, turning it over in her hands as she tried to figure out what it was.
"Your journal," the guard provided.
"Do you know how I arrived here?" Zelda asked.
"Sorry, ma'am," the guard said, and moved on to the next in line.
Well, she couldn't have expected a guard to know all of the workings of her realm anyway, or have any idea who she was, as this was certainly not Hyrule. She continued inside--Paixao, was it?--and was stunned. This was absolutely massive, beyond even the Castle Town. What sort of country could support such a place? Even the trees glittered. She hardly knew where to go first. But she could not stand there gaping. She moved forward, deeper into the town.

The Maren was considering leaving the city to go and look around, and was, in fact, heading towards the gate she had entered in when an interesting looking woman stepped inside, looking confused. NiGHTS nodded to herself, grinning a little at the thought of another interesting person, and she could sense that the woman was tied very clearly to the Green Ideya - the Ideya of growth.
So she dropped down in front of the woman and offered her a friendly smile. "Hi!"

"Hello," Zelda replied. "Is this your home?"
Having a native guide to this realm would be advantageous.

Mentally shrugging these thoughts off, NiGHTS grinned at the woman and shook her head. "Nope!" she responded gaily, "I'm not from anywhere near here." Although NiGHTS hadn't been here for long, she was fairly sure the citizens here were unable to dream - she had never heard of this place before.
"My name," she continued, "is NiGHTS. What's yours?"
no subject
She refrained from mentioning her royal status; there were times when it seemed to push her above others, and made them less willing to speak normally to her. In such a place as this, she did not want to take the chance, even though she suspected NiGHTS wouldn't have cared either way.
no subject
NiGHTS, for her part, also didn't care about royalty; she treated everyone much the same (unless she was in a certain mood, of course). This tended to either annoy those she interacted with that happened to be royalty, or they were relieved. NiGHTS didn't really notice either way, anyway.

Even if NiGHTS wasn't a native, she seemed friendly enough, and perhaps she would be willing to tell her a bit more about this place. It was very different from Hyrule. The more she knew, the faster she would be able to return home.
no subject
She rather liked Zelda so far; the woman was calm and pleasant - and NiGHTS could swear she felt the red Ideya within her.
[ooc: OH MY GOD I AM SO SORRY. I didn't even get an e-mail notification for the reply! D: D: D:]

After all, it would be best if she met with the rulers as soon as possible. She would need to ascertain their positions and see if they would aid her.

A few more moments of remembrance, and the creature snapped her fingers. "That's right! I've heard about a mayor around here, but I don't know where that person lives. If you ask around, though, I'm sure someone else will know."
no subject
She turned her attention to the ivory box in her hands. A journal? Perhaps it was magic. Opening it uncertainly, she spent a few fruitless moments trying to make it work, and finally looked to NiGHTS.
"Do you know how this device functions?"
no subject
She wondered why this strange place kept pulling people in. Maybe there was something more to this than there seemed to be.
no subject
If everything in this city was as strange to her as the journals, adjusting would be difficult. But she would adapt as needed to allow herself to survive here and return to her kingdom.
no subject
"I don't really know if there's anything like this back home," the Maren replied slowly, "but a friend of mine, Owl, would. He's not here, though."
no subject
But she could not spend all day at the gate when she had to find a way back home. First, she needed somewhere to stay. A moment of fumbling accessed the map, and she looked at it uncertainly.
"Which of these are hotels?"
no subject
She didn't stay in any of them, come to think of it; staying in a domed city was ridiculous enough without putting a second roof over her head.
no subject
She was not sure as to the quality of any of the inns NiGHTS pointed out. As long as they were not too bad, however, Zelda would make due.
