Confusion. [active][Open]

Character(s): Linali Li and whoever else wants to drop by [OPEN. Pretty please?]
Content:Linali enters Paixao.
Setting: Joutenheim Gate
Time: Late afternoon
Warnings: None

She was afraid. The heaving of her chest, the widening of her eyes showed it, no matter how much she tried to put on a brave front for the others. Their small wooden boat was currently swarmed by akuma. She couldn't even see the sky through the mass of metal, and the horrible sound of bullets firing.

Her body was tensed, a taut bowstring ready to be released. Her legs were swathed in green fire as she leaped into the air, slamming her leg down onto an invading akuma, crushing it to pieces and freeing the poor soul within.

"Thank you..." the voice was angelic, the voice of the formerly trapped soul drifting her way to heaven. Linali smiled for a second, then returned to the fray. Rabi, Miranda, Krory, Bookman. Anita and her crew. These people needed protecting. They were precious to her, and she would not let anything happened to them while she was still breathing.

Linali Li was an effective fighter, moving her way through hordes of akuma. The sky darkened as another pack was upon them. Linali looked up, a feeling of hopelessness sinking in her chest. How could they ever hope to fight all of these akuma?

The last thing she remembers seeing is Rabi's face, and then her world goes black.

Her head pounds as her eyes open. The sky is...blue?

Dark eyes blink a few times as her head turns this way and that. She was in a line with a few other people. In front of her was a massive gate consisting of two carved statues of giants with their clubs crossed. She'd never seen anything like that before.

A voice ahead of her welcomed her to 'Paixao'. A few glossy brochures were thrust into her hands. She was moved forward past the gates. What had happened to her? Where was she? What was this 'Paixao' that the person had spoken to her about.

She was getting quite a few stares from people. Linali looked down at herself, realizing how strange she must look. There were a lot of nasty scratches on her legs, but most of all she looked worn and exhausted. Her exorcist uniform was also bound to attract quite the large amount of looks, although she was used to that by now.

Her boot clad legs clip-clopped on the cobblestone beneath her as she walked into the new city, Paixao. She was still rather bewildered, but the woman at the gate looked so dishevelled and tired that she hadn't wanted to bother her with questions.

Perhaps some of the people living here could answer her questions?

Saïx sighed to himself as he watched yet another batch of people filter in through the gate. It never stopped, not truly. But at least it was moderately easier to avoid drawing undue attention here - oftentimes people didn't learn of the dangers of this place until later.

Not that he was taking any chances, of course. These days, wearing any sort of black coat was enough to have people howling after your blood. Easy enough to avoid though - even if he would never truly get used to wearing anything else. But the grayish-silver pants and dark blue shirt did provide at least some amount of misdirection, he had to admit.

The rest he'd simply leave as it was, memorable though it may well be.

"I would agree," he answered, looking down at the young woman who had run into him. "Especially in a place like this." After all, with the steady flow of people coming in around the clock the gates were some of the busiest parts of the city.

There was a pause as he cast a critical eye over the young woman standing before him, taking note of both the slim form (lightweight, doubtless agile in a fight) as well as the lingering signs of confusion. Doubtless this was yet another newcomer to the city. And although he had never been and probably never would be much of a friend to social conversation it couldn't hurt to pretend otherwise.

"New to the city?"
