Foundation Day Festival: Games Area

Character(s): anybody playing games
Content: people play carnival games
Setting: Joco da Crianca Fairgrounds, games area
Time: all day~
Warnings: Multithreaded posting format (please include time of day and sub-location in your comment's subject line)

Scattered through the western half of the fairgrounds are the game tents. They've got everything, from knocking over bottles to darts to a dunk tank; if you can think of it, chances are they have it. There's even a "Guess Your Age Or Weight" booth. Typically there is more than one game to a tent. This is a very loud area, with all of the games staff calling at once to get people to come over.

Naturally, there are prizes for those who win, ranging from little knickknacks and candies to giant stuffed animals - nothing particularly useful, but a lot of cute things.

The piece de resistance is a 25-foot Ferris wheel. It seats two to a car (three if you squeeze), and children under four and a half feet tall aren't allowed to ride without an adult.

Her ankle was paining her from the bite, but really, it wasn't as worse as a neck-wound she once had, even if she including the strange substance leaking out from it. Still, it felt odd to put weight down on it, and she tried not to while the two were making feints at her, nipping successfully a few times at her and getting clothing.

But... wait... two?

Her back was pressed up the counter of one of the fishpond games, not giving her much room. Blue's eyes widened and she felt cold, ignoring the two and looking past to the one hunting Bakura of all people! She growled, low in her throat, the anger bubbling - they were here for her, were they not? Then they should fight her, not someone innocent! Not someone that couldn't fight back!

Angrily, she kicked out, hard with her wounded leg, not caring about the bite of pain that ran up from it. She nudged one lumen aside and bolted for Bakura, yelling, "Get out of the way!" and praying he wouldn't be hurt, making her way between him and the third lumen. It paused for only a moment, backing away and growling, but then continued in to attack anyway, just as Blue lashed out with pearly white jaws amongst dark fur, claws gripping the dirt.

Bakura froze when he saw the lumen heading back his way. When Blue yelled at him, he finally managed to force himself to move, scrambling out-of-the-way as quickly as he could, and somehow he managed to do so without tripping over himself.

When he was a safe enough distance a several feet away, he turned back to stare at the fight and confusion was the first thing to enter his mind.

Where had Blue gone? And since when was there a dog fighting the lumens?

The lumens seemed just about as thrown off as the boy had been, sinking back carefully as she tore jaws forward, growling out in warning. Her mind was racing, only to get bogged down again after realizing that she was herself again. Her real self. Half wolf, half dog. It made her remember Cheza. That flower child... she would do anything to protect her. And now she would do the same for Bakura; she hated people getting hurt.

The lumens circled one another, as if rethinking their plans, or perhaps sensing something much more calling in the city. Certainly Blue should be the least of their concerns.

She lashed out her jaws once more, shifting her paws as she began to carefully walk an arc around the glowering creatures. She dragged one of her hind legs, still aching from the bite one of the lumens got on her.

And then her image shifted to the one Bakura was familiar with and she sought him out quickly. He looked fairly confused; she couldn't really blame him. She tried to give him a reassuring glance before the illusion broke and it was the canine looking at him, eyes turning back on the lumens.

There was only one left. An odd grin formed across her muzzle and she charged in at the creature. It was a mistake for it to stay here.

((Err yeah. Sorta combined the two again I guess :\ Might've been a bit confusion but she's gone back to her original way of things where the human form is an illusion, and here it's kinda being shifty XD If that makes sense. Donno how far you've gotten in the series.))

Bakura's confusion relaxed a bit when he saw Blue again in the tussle before him. When it flickered away again leaving the dog behind, he shook his head slightly, blinking, idly wondering what exactly that was.

Then, he recalled what had been said back at the hotel when they'd first met.

"Yes, I was once a wolf...well. I have half a wolf, and half just a normal dog... I don't really know why that all changed when I got here...."

"...I guess this is what you meant, Blue?" he mumbled to himself, watching as she chased off the last of the lumens.

Blue whimpered a bit, nose coming round to sniff at some of the marks the lumens left on her back leg. They were gone now, at least. Blue could still protect people, even here. She licked at the wounds, then was back on her feet, growling in the direction that the lumens disappeared to, then circled around and approached Bakura.

She looked up at him, making sure she wasn't scaring him away, then went to nudge her head kindly against his side.

Bakura smiled at the nudge, bending down to pet Blue. A few minutes later, he stood up to go retrieve the second plushie from the game counter and then returned, "Come on, Blue. Let's see if someone can take care of that bite and then we'll get some food and find somewhere to stay."
