Foundation Day Festival: Games Area
Character(s): anybody playing games
Content: people play carnival games
Setting: Joco da Crianca Fairgrounds, games area
Time: all day~
Warnings: Multithreaded posting format (please include time of day and sub-location in your comment's subject line)
Scattered through the western half of the fairgrounds are the game tents. They've got everything, from knocking over bottles to darts to a dunk tank; if you can think of it, chances are they have it. There's even a "Guess Your Age Or Weight" booth. Typically there is more than one game to a tent. This is a very loud area, with all of the games staff calling at once to get people to come over.
Naturally, there are prizes for those who win, ranging from little knickknacks and candies to giant stuffed animals - nothing particularly useful, but a lot of cute things.
The piece de resistance is a 25-foot Ferris wheel. It seats two to a car (three if you squeeze), and children under four and a half feet tall aren't allowed to ride without an adult.

Nine AM-ish, wandering
Every stuffed animal caught her eye, although the big ones were especially delightful. But she doubted that they were used... There was even a tent where you could win a goldfish!
"What are we going to play?" Rakka called to Rikku and Stitch.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
Getting an idea, he scrambled to the top of a light pole and looked around.
"Any game you guys want to play? I can find it from here!"
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
It was only now that she was starting to realize how different this was from carnivals back Home, not least that everything was bigger. There were games about throwing things and games about shooting things and games about whacking things and a funny strength test with a great big bell on the top. Belatedly, she wished there were more options for people her size.
"Hmm... I dunno!" she said after a second of thought. "Rakka, Stitch, why don't you guys pick? I'll cheer you on!" She pumped a tiny fist in the air for emphasis.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
But the stuffed animals beckoned--no, they weren't used! Well...
This wasn't Glie. The rules were different, right? Snatching leaves as best she could--most of the lowest branches were stripped--she bounded over to a particularly large booth with particularly large stuffed animals.
There were baseball-sized balls in buckets, and various sized hula hoops of different colors moving back and forth. Get a ball through the hoop, and you won a prize; the smaller the hoop, the larger it could be. Rakka had her eye on the giant orange dog, completely unconcerned with how impractical it would be to drag it around, and the chances of her actually winning it.
"How about this one?" she called, waving to her companions giddily.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
Throwing them, he missed both times, proceeding to growl at the game.
"Ah well, your turn!" He said to both Rikku and Rakka.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
Rikku picked up a ball herself - it was nearly as big around as she was tall, what a pain - and flew into the booth with it, trying to get close enough to get one of the small hoops, but she was intercepted by an arm before she could reach it. "Uh, miss?" the game attendant said. "You're supposed to throw it from behind the counter, there."
"Hey, that's not fair at all," she protested. "I'm little, I can't throw it that far! Can't I move in a teensy bit closer so I'll have a chance? Pleeeeease?"
The attendant sighed and lowered his arm. "Okay, okay! But just a little bit-"
Too late - Rikku had flown right up to the smallest hoop she could see and neatly tossed the ball through, then backed off and hovered so as to show she had definitely not been close enough to be considered cheating. "One prize, please~" she said triumphantly.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
Then it was her turn... She stepped up nervously to the stand, and threw her first one. It went through the largest hoop. It wouldn't win her the orange dog that she was staring at, but it did let her get a smaller prize. She bounced up and down, grinning.
They really needed to get things like this in Glie.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
Stitch smiled for his companions, he hadn't won, but he was happy that they had. "What prizes are you guys going to choose?" He said, looking around at all of the colorful toys and things hanging from the roof of the game area.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
After a little bit, she had it narrowed down to two - a great big orange dog, and a neon pink hippopotamus. "Ooooh, decisions decisions. Hey, what do you guys think? This one, or this one?" she tried, indicating both prizes in turn.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
It was then she really look at look at the stuffed animals, and at Rikku. There was a definite problem here. "How are you going to carry it?" Could she even pick it up? Maybe she was a lot stronger than she looked. "I'll carry it, if you want."
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
"If you carry it Rakka, I can carry the smaller one." He offered, trying to be a help.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
She flew over and neatly sat herself down on the toy's stomach. "Wow, this is comfy," she commented, leaning back. "Good choice, Rakka!"
But it'd be kind of boring just to sit around, so she got up almost as quickly. "If you could carry it, though, that'd be great," she answered. It'd probably be a comical failure if Rikku tried to pick it up herself, and she did know it, unfortunately.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
The stuffed animals really were cute; Kuu would have loved this place. One game and they had already won two prizes. At this rate they would have more than they could carry. Just what they were going to do with the prizes, Rakka didn't consider.
"What should we play next?" she asked.
Re: Nine AM-ish, wandering
"How about that one?" He asked, pointing at one of the strength tests with the bell and hammer. "It looks interesting...and easy!"
OOC:My Schedule, FTL... Sorry it took forever for me too respond, school is kicking me square in the butt right now.
