Foundation Day Festival: Games Area

Character(s): anybody playing games
Content: people play carnival games
Setting: Joco da Crianca Fairgrounds, games area
Time: all day~
Warnings: Multithreaded posting format (please include time of day and sub-location in your comment's subject line)

Scattered through the western half of the fairgrounds are the game tents. They've got everything, from knocking over bottles to darts to a dunk tank; if you can think of it, chances are they have it. There's even a "Guess Your Age Or Weight" booth. Typically there is more than one game to a tent. This is a very loud area, with all of the games staff calling at once to get people to come over.

Naturally, there are prizes for those who win, ranging from little knickknacks and candies to giant stuffed animals - nothing particularly useful, but a lot of cute things.

The piece de resistance is a 25-foot Ferris wheel. It seats two to a car (three if you squeeze), and children under four and a half feet tall aren't allowed to ride without an adult.

Blue stood next to him with her arms wrapped behind her back, eying the setup of cans, watching as he threw each beanbag and found herself thinking that won't get enough or so each time - and she was right, mostly.

It seemed odd, and a bit silly. But if Bakura enjoyed it, than that was enough for her, and just for him, she would give a shot at it. So Blue nodded and took Bakura's place, holding out a hand to take the three beanbags within it. She surveyed the can structure carefully. It didn't seem too difficult.

She glanced at the dog that Bakura had taken and frowned, thinking of Hige and Toboe. But they weren't here. And she doubted that they would ever be here.... because surely Kiba had opened Paradise, and the wolves were allowed in, and she had come to Paixao.

But at least she was somewhere, and not just lost to the bleeding darkness that Darcia had created for her.

Her first two beanbags got her nothing; she was far too distracted suddenly. The weight of being separated from her pack, even though she was trying to make new connections for herself here... The woman behind the booth shook her head and looked to give up on Blue, but then the last beanbag went, striking the pyramid dead center, hard, and knocked most of them down.

Still, Blue was frowning.

"Ah," the woman blinked at her and then the cans. "Well then..."

Blue blinked. She wasn't actually expecting to get anything, really, so she looked to Bakura, trying to hide her frown, and asked him instead, "You pick something."

Bakura looked at the plushies, noting the slight frown. He pointed at a medium-sized polar bear with tie-dyed blue fur.

He turned to Blue as the barker retrieved the indicated plush. "Blue? Are you okay?"

((See, even I can't keep to my proposed schedule.))

Blue frowned, staring off to the side. Sure. Sure she was fine. Wonderful. Superb. ...Maybe she shouldn't have come after all. What a real letdown. She wanted Bakura to have a good time, and here she was worrying him. That just... sort of figures, she supposes.

"I -"

Her gaze shifted again. She was chilled, but heated at the same time. She spun around, licking her lips, a bit nervously.

((Sorta wrapping some of Blue's actions in with the lumens'.))

The triplets slipped up from, slightly ironically, the shadows. Sleek, glowering white bodies that were almost blinding to look at. Golden eyes were focused, staring at the female dressed so much in contrast to themselves.

Lupines they were, but not the sweet fluffy puppies that someone would reach down and cuddle. In fact, must of Paixao's citizens ran off the moment they saw the strange shadows that drew away from the creatures, dancing like they had a mind of their own.

They pawed closer, slowly, almost drifting. Each moved a bit separated from the others. Ears twitched, eyes critical. One examined the area more thoroughly, sniffed the air near the white-haired boy, who was not as disturbing as the female, but still...

Not as if it really had a chance to consider him more; the other two flared, bodies becoming more sharpened and distinct; they lunged for the girl - Blue was already on the move, running past them and hopefully drawing them away from others - the third felt her emotions more clearly now, a growl making its way past teeth. It, too, turned, and slunk in close, low, and quick.

One bite. The other two kept her distracted enough. Such darkness. Must go. Must go. Can't have. Must have light. Light! It got one bite in, sinking jaws around her ankle, trying to drag her against the ground.

She let out a scream, skin burning from where the teeth were in, and she kicked out hard against the creature latched to her until it relinquished and she stumbled back, looking down at the injury where blood and a strange substance stuck around the punctures.

The triplets moved in around her, circling her, growling, no longer docile.

Bakura saw Blue turn around, but didn't actually turn until the barker returned and proceeded to stare in the direction Blue had turned to. He turned to look at what had caught everyone's attention--and saw the lumens shine as they came from the shadows. He backed up slightly--literally into the counter behind him, as one of the lumens investigated him while the others seemed intent to follow Blue. There was a squeak from the barker, who quickly proceeded to make a hasty escape out the back-side area of the tent, now that she'd left the plushie on the counter between where both he and Blue had been standing.

It changed its mind just nearly as quickly and chose to chase and attack Blue with its companions.

When Blue screamed, the white-haired boy's brown eyes widened with both fear and worry, "BLUE!"

Apart of him wanted to run over with something--anything to get them away from his friend. At the same time, he knew he HAD nothing to do that with. There was no wizard to save him...Regretfully, he managed one uncannily dark thought--a wish that the Voice was present, somewhere. He shook that out of the way quickly--the Voice wasn't here, and he shouldn't rely on the selfish presence to protect him...it would only hurt in the end.

((Do them then Blue. Lol. If you ever put up the species and stuff tell me :3))

The triplets were completely flared out, teeth bared down, spit dripping like rabid animals – which would have been a good enough description if they could really be considered animals at all. When the girl stumbled back, looking down at her ankle in horror, two pressed her more, claws digging into the already turned up ground, bodies tensing. Everything about the city was growing worse. They needed to put a stop to this. Allll of this darkness… how it was making them suffer… it had to GO!

The third of the group had become distracted again by the white haired boy and his scream for, logically, the girl, and sharp eyes turned, narrowed and honed in on him, its ears pulling back; it didn’t like the boy much from the start, and now it had to go making these intolerable noises? It rounded away from the others who were snipping at the girl and weaved back towards the boy, jaws pulling open…

Her ankle was paining her from the bite, but really, it wasn't as worse as a neck-wound she once had, even if she including the strange substance leaking out from it. Still, it felt odd to put weight down on it, and she tried not to while the two were making feints at her, nipping successfully a few times at her and getting clothing.

But... wait... two?

Her back was pressed up the counter of one of the fishpond games, not giving her much room. Blue's eyes widened and she felt cold, ignoring the two and looking past to the one hunting Bakura of all people! She growled, low in her throat, the anger bubbling - they were here for her, were they not? Then they should fight her, not someone innocent! Not someone that couldn't fight back!

Angrily, she kicked out, hard with her wounded leg, not caring about the bite of pain that ran up from it. She nudged one lumen aside and bolted for Bakura, yelling, "Get out of the way!" and praying he wouldn't be hurt, making her way between him and the third lumen. It paused for only a moment, backing away and growling, but then continued in to attack anyway, just as Blue lashed out with pearly white jaws amongst dark fur, claws gripping the dirt.

Bakura froze when he saw the lumen heading back his way. When Blue yelled at him, he finally managed to force himself to move, scrambling out-of-the-way as quickly as he could, and somehow he managed to do so without tripping over himself.

When he was a safe enough distance a several feet away, he turned back to stare at the fight and confusion was the first thing to enter his mind.

Where had Blue gone? And since when was there a dog fighting the lumens?

The lumens seemed just about as thrown off as the boy had been, sinking back carefully as she tore jaws forward, growling out in warning. Her mind was racing, only to get bogged down again after realizing that she was herself again. Her real self. Half wolf, half dog. It made her remember Cheza. That flower child... she would do anything to protect her. And now she would do the same for Bakura; she hated people getting hurt.

The lumens circled one another, as if rethinking their plans, or perhaps sensing something much more calling in the city. Certainly Blue should be the least of their concerns.

She lashed out her jaws once more, shifting her paws as she began to carefully walk an arc around the glowering creatures. She dragged one of her hind legs, still aching from the bite one of the lumens got on her.

And then her image shifted to the one Bakura was familiar with and she sought him out quickly. He looked fairly confused; she couldn't really blame him. She tried to give him a reassuring glance before the illusion broke and it was the canine looking at him, eyes turning back on the lumens.

There was only one left. An odd grin formed across her muzzle and she charged in at the creature. It was a mistake for it to stay here.

((Err yeah. Sorta combined the two again I guess :\ Might've been a bit confusion but she's gone back to her original way of things where the human form is an illusion, and here it's kinda being shifty XD If that makes sense. Donno how far you've gotten in the series.))

Bakura's confusion relaxed a bit when he saw Blue again in the tussle before him. When it flickered away again leaving the dog behind, he shook his head slightly, blinking, idly wondering what exactly that was.

Then, he recalled what had been said back at the hotel when they'd first met.

"Yes, I was once a wolf...well. I have half a wolf, and half just a normal dog... I don't really know why that all changed when I got here...."

"...I guess this is what you meant, Blue?" he mumbled to himself, watching as she chased off the last of the lumens.

Blue whimpered a bit, nose coming round to sniff at some of the marks the lumens left on her back leg. They were gone now, at least. Blue could still protect people, even here. She licked at the wounds, then was back on her feet, growling in the direction that the lumens disappeared to, then circled around and approached Bakura.

She looked up at him, making sure she wasn't scaring him away, then went to nudge her head kindly against his side.

Bakura smiled at the nudge, bending down to pet Blue. A few minutes later, he stood up to go retrieve the second plushie from the game counter and then returned, "Come on, Blue. Let's see if someone can take care of that bite and then we'll get some food and find somewhere to stay."
