Sanity Meets a Double Dose of Insanity [Completed]
Character(s): Bakura Ryou, Udou Akira
Content: Bakura and Akira finally end up on the "cheaper" side of Paixao at Auntie Unde's. Akira gets clothes and a journal and Bakura gets project supplies.
Setting: Auntie Unde's
Time: week2, early afternoon
Warnings: none...really, except Auntie Unde being bizarre and scaring Bakura.
The walk was quicker than he thought it would be, but still exhausting. He did manage it fairly well, even with the getting tired part. Only a few stumbles over his own feet. Bakura still didn’t like the fact that he was so clumsy. Nearly face-planting on cobblestones was NOT the best way of getting somewhere. He looked up at the run-down looking store. This was not anything like what he was used to. It was no wonder that this end of town was considered the “least expensive”..everything was more crude. The whole nature didn’t look like someone had put as much effort into it as they did in Muspelheim. He glanced at Akira. “Well…this is the store…”

"Not so bad," He said cheerfully. It was a store, and not a pile of boxes, for one. Sure it looked a bit... doubtful, but if all else failed Akira figured that it was still a store. He wondered if they sold a pair of pants, and how much it'd be. Judging from the appearance... at least things would be cheap.

Bakura grinned, watching his feet as he went to grab the door into the store. He might not have direct cash on him, but he hoped some of his extra cards would pass as currency here. The brochure HAD said they'd except all kinds. He wanted to see if he could find some paint and maybe some figurines. He wanted to make some things that maybe he could sell to get some quick cash at some point soon. At least until he had time to get settled and find a job.

"Think they sell clothes as well as journals?" He queried, peering into the open door now. Maybe he could trade her something for some clothes. He ... could pawn off the chains if they were worth anything.
no subject
He smiled, heading into the store, holding the door long enough so that Akira could grab it.
He glanced at the woman at the counter with a raised eye. She was dressed a little like Pegasus, but…it was much more eccentric and dark than Pegasus’ look was. The older woman was busy occupying herself with a piece of cloth.
She glanced up seeing first the young man with the white hair and the golden ring with the eye on it. "Cursed..." she hissed at him. "Ancient curses on your head."
Bakura's eyes widened and he took a couple steps back, almost bumping into one of the shelves behind him. He broke eye contact with the woman, one hand carefully fingering the shape of the ring around his neck. He was terrified. Certaintly, it was true he was cursed.
no subject
Cursed Woah, that was a little rude. Besides, the woman looked more cursed than Bakura.
"Hey, knock it off. We're just here to buy some things," Akira waved a hand at the store. Wait, this wasn't the owner of the store, was it? Gah, that would totally suck.
He looked over at Bakura, who seemed to believe the woman. "...the occult stuff bother you?" Because, really, people who were afraid of that kind of crap were wimps. Though, Bakura was sort of wimpy looking. A bit of brotherly instinct kicked Akira in the back of the head for being rather insensitive.

The woman glanced at the boys, slightly interested, "Buyin' something? What're you lookin for? Let ole Auntie Unde find what you need."
no subject
"...one of those," A point at the journal Bakura had, "And if you have any pants or... clothes in general, I guess..." He trailed off.
no subject
"A journal and clothes. Journals are on the first shelf, near the back, over there. Clothes are down the back. I'll show you in a moment."
She turned back to the other boy, the white-haired one she had called cursed. "Are you looking for anything?"
Bakura was looking at his journal as he spoke, "No, I'm just going to browse."
Auntie Unde nodded, "This way." She went down an aisle to direct the boy with the odd eyes to the section where they kept all their clothes. It wasn't a very neat assortment of clothes, either. A few of them looked like hand-me-downs from a few different families.
Looking at the assortment of mostly unorderly clothes, she grinned a crazy grin, showing the few teeth she had which revealed her age about as much as her voice did, although she looked around 40. She pointed off to a little moth-eaten room off to the side, "The changing room is over there."
Meanwhile, Bakura poked around the shelves looking for a paint set and resin, lead, plaster or wood figurines.

While he waited for her response he let his eyes drift over the clothes. Hm, didn't need girl's clothes, just a pair of pants and a shirt... He shouldn't let his gaze drift, that was rude, but she didn't creep him out so much as made him a little uncomfortable.
no subject
Bakura continued shifting through recklessly ordered shelves. He found a set of colorful paints first. Followed by a slightly worn coat paintbrush and detail paintbrush. He started searching for figurines on a toy shelf after that.
no subject
Good thing he had grabbed two pairs of pants, because one didn't fit. The other did, though, and so did the shirt. He poked his head out of the dressing room, "...it alright if I wear these out?" Eyes searching for the old woman as he inquired, wondering if she was within hearing distance... or off somewhere... or... he didn't know, but he was betting she did some pretty weird things sometimes.
no subject
if you're caught, you'll never return.
'cause she's out to get you in the end
her wrath will descend."*
Auntie Unde sang off-key as she restocked a few shelves. Her voice and the song made Bakura think of witches.
Bakura shuddered as he went through the shelf, finding 6 figurines: a kitty, a doggy, 2 boys, and 2 girls. He also went through his deck and pulled out several cards: 2 Necro Mannequin cards, Pot of Greed, Necri Cycle and Chain Energy. He waited for a while, typing up a quick journal entry and responding to a comment that happened shortly there after by someone who knew Udou-san.
When he heard Akira ask if he could wear out the clothes he was trying on, he put the journal in the bag along with the rest of his deck and gathered up what he wanted to buy.
Auntie Unde, turned from her work on the shelves and went to back of the store to address Akira's question, "You may, as long as you pay for it."
[[OOC: For some reason, I forgot to put the note on the end]]]

Oh, good. Akira thought that was far preferable to having to then find another place to change. Leaving the changing room, he folded the pants and put them back on the shelf, and then headed over to look at the journals. They all looked to be in pretty good condition, and he picked out a green one, turning it over in his hands to check for scratches and then flicking it open.
Weird little things, far more compact than the computers back home, but there didn't seem to be a lot of technology around in Paixao. Ah well, he could think about that another day. Akira went over to where Bakura was.
"Ready to go?" He asked.
no subject
He paused, glancing at his bag. "I forgot to ask for their name, but someone you know wanted to see you. They left a message on my journal."
He looked at Auntie Unde, who had somewhat followed Akira back towards the front of the store. He held out cards, "Can I use these to pay?"
Auntie Unde looked over the cards, "Yes." She took them and slipped them into a pouch behind the counter. She made a note that maybe she could sell them to one of her friends who owned the pawnshop or maybe as a donation to the Matteus Museum of Art. The artwork on the cards was just simply wonderful. She glanced at Bakura. "Who made the cards?"
Bakura grinned, "Pegasus J. Crawford. A businessman where I'm from."
no subject
"...ah," Was a pretty safe response to Bakura's comment.
He waited for the other to pay, watching the crazy woman a bit, listening to the conversation. Pegasus J. Crawford? What kind of name was that? A businessman's name, apparently...
no subject
Bakura grinned at Akira, as he slipped his new project materials into the blue bag. "Let's go."
He nodded to Auntie Unde, "Thank you." It was nice to be polite, even if she did spook him a little.
no subject
He kept lifting his gaze to see if he was going to run into either Bakura or some stationary object. "...where are you headed to now, Bakura?"
no subject
He grinned, "I guess I'll see you around. It was nice meeting you." Bakura wandered off, beaming a lot wider than anyone would expect.
