The Angel and the Eyepatch [COMPLETE]
Character(s): Nill, Badou, NPCs. Possibly Haine later on.
Content: After communicating with Badou, Nill sets up a meeting with the redhead at Café Ersesat where they will wait until Haine shows up.
Setting: Muspelheim's buzzing Café Ersesat.
Time: Mid-afternoon, Sunday.
Warnings: None.
Within the warm brown and green colors of the quickly-moving café, Nill was seated at a cushioned chair by a wide window. It was clear and sunny outside, not to mention a little hot. She would remove her jersey were it not for the necessity to hide them. Thankfully, her icy fruit juice cooled her to some extent.
Peter had stayed with her for no more than half an hour until he received a "call" on his mobile-journal. He was a working man after all. Nill distressfully pouted when he got up to leave, but he promised he'd return by 6:30 PM that evening. He asked a waitress to look over the little girl while he was away. As if accepting an order from the manager himself, she obliged and positioned herself nearby. Grabbing his coat and taking his brieface, Peter smiled warmly at the silent Nill. "I'll be back. Stay here and enjoy Café Ersesat!" he said as he stepped out the open doors.
The waitress approached Nill as Peter left. "Nill, right? You're very cute. I wouldn't be able to restrain myself from helping you either! Is there anything else you'd like from the menu?"
Holding up her hands, Nill shook her head shyly and pointed to her food. She still had half a sandwich and her juice wasn't finished either. The waitress, Clarissa as her name tag indicated, laughed embarassedly. "Oh! Sorry, well, I'll leave you to your lunch. Enjoy!" She stepped away and attended other customers in the same aisle.
Now, the (secretly) winged teen scrutinized the scenery out the window, carefully watching out for a certain red-haired fellow. Badou-san...

Now, the (secretly) winged teen scrutinized the scenery out the window, carefully watching out for a certain red-haired fellow. Badou-san...

Remembering what Nill had said about there being some big green lamppost opposite from it, the redhead headed for the highest building as close to the dot that symbolized the café as possible. When he got there... Badou looked all around him at least six times before -he blamed it on his lack of nicotine- realizing that there was a structure of the exact description just opposite the building he was on.
Which meant that he had been standing on top of it the whole time. Lovely.

Clarissa was taking a paid bill when she saw Nill's gesture for service. Kyaaa she's so cute. Happily, she strode down to the seat with the black leather billing booklet.
"Ahoy! What have you need of, dear?"
"Um...well..." Even after an hour, Nill still felt out of place. She wasn't used to all these nice people. She gulped and look up at the clear-eyed woman. "...that friend I spoke of earlier? His name is Badou."
Clarissa nodded, already anticipating her next sentence. "Mmhmm. He's coming. Right then, what would he like?"
As if it was something incredibly, horrendously, unacceptably embarassing, Nill looked down and pressed her index fingers together nervously. "...He said...'something hard.'"
The mid-20s Ersesat waitress chuckled at the girl's antics. How modest, she thought, until came the order. "Hard?" she said out loud.
"I-I'm sorry! Is that bad? We're not from around here so we do--..eh?" Nill blinked. Clarissa was laughing heartily. Did I say something weird?
"Hahaha, no, no, it's okay. I understand. I hope your friend is old enough--otherwise I'll have to take it away," she smiled sympathetically. Taking a pen and a pad, she began to jot something down. "One...large Brain Crusher coming up! Anything else?"
Nill shook her head and made a small smile, satisfied. "Thank you..."
"Not need--it's my job, hehe." Winking, Clarissa headed for the kitchen.

Thank god it was all neatly done up in bags; he'd just washed the coat and hell be damned if he'd gotten it dirtied again THAT quickly. Badou sighed and got up, dusting himself off and making his way to the front of the café. True to her word, he saw the familiar figure sitting at a table next to the entrance, staring slightly blankly out the window, presumably looking out for him. He padded quickly over to the table, clearing his throat slightly to get her attention.
"Yo," he said, raising a hand in greeting. "Nill, right?" He didn't even have to ask, but hell. Just for the sake of it.

Nill jumped in her seat, shocked. She was so focused on the fine details outside she completely missed Badou's unobtrusive entrance to the café. Rubbing her eyes after prolonged sun reflection, Nill shifted her weight to face Badou, adjusting to the dimmer lighting of the café. Everything was visually right now, and she grinned in joy with the older boy's presence.
"Y..yes!" she squeaked, looking at him with glittering eyes. She hoped Badou would comment her newly-acquired audibility [ooc: made it up, so what. Dx], although there was a subconscious doubt in her mind. Badou visited the church now and then, but they never really interacted. If Haine was there, it was just Haine and nobody else--except for that bothersome priest whom she tried to avoid. Sure, he was polite and soft-spoken, but perhaps a little over-affectionate with the orphan.
Still smiling, Nill pointed at the cushioned bench across from her.

The redhead nodded and sat down with a slightly forced grin; the withdrawal wasn't exactly something he liked dealing with, even if it happened fairly often.
Nill's voice was a tad higher than he'd expected; he'd never heard her speak before. Badou vaguely recalled Haine mentioning something about her not being able to talk... or something. Maybe... "Bishop managed to do something about your voice?" he asked, eyebrow raised.
no subject
Nill smiled thoughtfully. She shook her head in negation. "..when...when I came here, I was able to speak." She held her palms out, shrugging. Seating properly, Nill neatly lay her hands on her lap, slightly tense. This will be her first real conversation. She didn't say much when Peter was with her earlier, but with Badou it's different. After all, she knew the man and he was from her world.
The fifteen-year old was close to speaking when Clarissa popped from behind the corner with a tall, icy class on the burnt sienna-colored serving stray. Skidding to the table, the Ersesat waitress gasped in wonder. She wasn't expecting a relatively good-looking redhead with an eyepatch. Oh, and those cute freckles. She kept her eyes locked on Badou, a "lovestruck" grin on her face as she set his lavender-tinted drink down.
She was leaning, slightly over Nill, her medium-length braids of gold sweeping forward. "Heeello there, sir~ You must be Badou. Nill's told me about you." She chuckled. "You're obviously not from around here. How do you like Paixao? It's a bit sunny today--are you sure you don't want me to take your coat? You look flushed. My name's Cla--oh snap. Duty calls. Sorry! Anyway, enjoy your 'Brain Crusher'!" Giddy, she skipped away, resuming her prior position at the other side of the café now that Nill was with another adult.
Nill had an awkward smile on her face as she watched her temporary guarding flee. "Uh..um...please, your drink!"

Nill's voice brought his attention back to the tall glass that had been placed in front of him, and Badou barely blinked at it before downing almost a third of the glass- Bad move. The stuff looked cool enough, and the glass itself was cold to the touch, but the moment it went down, the damned drink became liquid fire. God, but it BURNED. "...Whoa," was all he could say when he had not quite recovered, open mouthed with his head thrown back so all he could see was the ceiling fan and colored tiles... and they were beginning to run together already. "Whoa."

"...Badou-san! A-are you okay?" she said, her voice unsteady. Iyaaa, I did something wrong!
She swung her head around, trying to figure out what to do. Clarissa was out of sight (but maybe that was a good thing). Glancing at the table, Nill spotted the tissue holder and grabbed one napkin, handing it to Badou as if it would save his life.
Well, you can't blame the kid for not knowing.

hefeltlikehe'dgottenrunoverbyatrainit was a hell lot stronger than he'd expected.Mmyes. He'd learnt not to judge drinks by their looks anymore.
Close to half a minute later, when the world had stopped spinning and reminding him of some crazed carousel, Badou forced himself to sit upright again, feeling slightly giddy as all the blood rushed to or left his head, it didn't matter. He shook his head in a bid to clear it, though all he managed to end up with was feeling a little light-headed. And still craving for nicotine. Looks like no matter how strong the drink was, he couldn't get rid of the need for smokes.
Badou sighed, and looked up at Nill. "You sure they don't have cigarettes or whatever anywhere around here?" He seriously needed a stick. Now. Or someone was going to get hurt.

Maybe I took a wrong turn... Nill turned around, tracing back her steps. This hunt would have continued for a prolonged period of time had not Clarissa herself notice the young girl.
"Nill? Niiiill! I'm over here!" She called out, waving. She set down a tray and her towel, then shuffled to Nill's side. "What's up? Did Badou faint or something? I doubt that'd be out of bounds."
Sapphire eyes bloated with worry. "Ba-Badou-san really needs a..cigarette."
"...well..." the waitress leered.
"Please, Clarissa! He sounds sick...!" she pleaded, her hands cupped below her chest.
One could not say no to those sad puppy eyes.
"Oh, all right. I'll give him a pack--for free--just this once. But he has to be outside."
Alleviated, Nill jumped and smiled. Finally Badou could get his puffs.
(ooc: writing has died! You can assume that a pack of tobacco stick are given to you, and Badou's scooted out. Nill will follow you. :O)

Barely two seconds after someone- he couldn't remember who, and it didn't matter- handed him a pack, Badou found himself leaning against a pillar just outside of the café, lighter already in hand to ignite the end of the stick of OMFGHEAVEN.
The nicotine rush was incredible, and the redhead couldn't help grinning like the idiot that he was. God, it felt good; he had to make this pack last as long as possible, or at least until he could get enough money to buy more- wait. He still had some of that cash leftover from that last job, right?
Heh.

Inside, Clarissa raised a brow. "He sure is good-looking...but an addict. Hmm...Bah! No room for this at work." She shook her head and went on with her job.

"Hey, Nill," came the words mumbled around the cigarette dangling from Badou's lips as he made his way to her side, "What're you gonna do while waitin' for Haine? He mightn't get here today, y'know."
He knew what he was gonna do, definitely. The sun in his only good eye told him that it was probably going to be dark soon, and Badou wasn't exactly up for sleeping on a random bench around here. Hopefully there was someplace here he could actually afford to stay at for the night.
... And still have enough leftover for a pack or twelve.

"Nill!" a familiar voice came from a short distance.
Looking up, eyes darting. Peter? ..It is! She turned her head to Badou, showing a sincere smile. There was a thrilled desperation in her expression. She wanted to run towards Peter and tell him the good news that someone she knew found her, but she did not want to leave Badou either. She parted her lips, arms raised in excited gesture.
"Badou, I want you to meet someone!"
That someone in question was only a few feet away and fast approaching. Peter swung his briefcase to his left hand, extending his right to pat Nill on the head. He was glad to see she was fine. Still smiling, Peter turned his attention to the smoker closeby.
He asked, a brow arching. "Who's this? Is this the friend you were so eager to see, Nill?"
Nill took the businessman's free hand and pulled him closer to Badou. She shook her head side-to-side, signifying a 'half-yes.'
"Badou," she introduced him with an open palm, then sweeped it towards the other blonde, "this is Peter! Peter, this is Badou."
Politely, Peter made a curt nod and held out a hand. "Nice to meet you! I'm happy to see Nill has found her friend. Have you been here long? Perhaps you'd like a drink?" The last sentence was suggested with Peter pointing to the café.
Joyfully, Nill giggled. A simple happiness was all that was needed to satisfy her. She gazed at Badou, awaiting his response.

Peter nodded. "Well then, I shall be inside preparing the buffet," he said glancing at his watch. "Will set aside a good table for you, in front of the stage. We're having a magician for tonight's show--hope that interests you!" After patting Nill once more, the young man proceeded to the café.
Taking her eyes off Peter, Nill resumed her position against the pillar, but this time with a semi-disappointed look. She thought Badou would be at least more..jovial about Peter. She sighed silently and simply directed her gaze over the darkening streets. The street lamps began to brighten, and shops windows emitted blaring white lights. A small smile spread across the girl's face as a cool breeze bristled a tree's leaves.
Hopefully Badou won't lose his light.

The cigarette was discarded on the floor, and Badou called to the silent girl leaning against the pillar as he ground the light out with his shoe. "Hey, Nill, s'getting dark. What say you we head back inside?"

Inside, new customers were taking their seats and making their orders. Peter was by the stage, speaking to the night's performers. The vocalist, it seemed, was most eye-catching: dark hair, mysterious eyes, and dressed in layers of differently patterned chiffon. Her bracelets jingled as she gestured with her hands. Her stage partners were setting up the instruments on the semicircular stage.
About four feet from the stage in the second line was a reserved table, complete with the triangular tag.

hopefully not loosing his mind.)Half an hour into the show, Nill was genuinely enjoying the ambience. The gypsy-esque group perfoming was not dissapointing. Lively, acoustic songs and more folkloric music were played. The Orphan of the Lost Age was not used to listening to such music back at home; what she heard was usually violent and loud--completely opposite of the soothing tunes resonating within the café.
As she drew her glass of water to her lips, Peter finally took at seat at her table. Smiling, he inquired their feelings. Nill smiled, nodding enthusiastically. "It's very nice!"
"Oh, I'm glad to hear that. Well, I just spoke to my brother," he said, straightening his shirt collar. "I doubt you two had a place to stay so I asked whether it was possible to host you for a few nights. I hope you don't mind! I will take you to the mansion in a bit as it is quite late, and I'm sure you're tired. Until then, please enjoy the show."
He nodded at Badou, standing, and soon dissapeared behind swinging doors.
(hooray for posting in school because omfg I have no time otherwise XOXO)
Looking over at Nill, Badou was about to ask her something before hesitating- she looked like was enjoying the show immensely, and he felt kinda bad if he distracted her from this little pleasure that couldn't be found where they came from.
Pulling out his journal again, he turned his attention to it instead, fiddling with the options onscreen. After a bit of digging around in the sea of posts from random people, he came across one of Haine's again, leaving a comment on it asking where he was. That done, he closed up the little device, stuffing it back into his pocket and trying to block out his growing need for another smoke by concentrating on his surroundings instead.
Re: (Yaaay. Dx)
The restaurant's clock read 10:05 PM. The tables were more vacant than they were two hours ago. Most people had left looking sleepy. A curfew, perhaps? This place didn't seem to thrive with night life, but that did not bother Nill as she herself began to fall under a sleep spell.
She looked at Badou, eyes half-open. He didn't look sleepy...more like bored and agitated. She deduced he didn't fancy the place (and would rather be outside with a cigarette). She frowned a little, concerned. "Are you unhappy?"
There was still time for the redhead to answer before Peter would step out from a corner, suitcase in hand. He gasped at Nill's drowsy face. Poor thing! He stepped up to the table and smile compassionately.
"Sorry for taking so long! We had bills to check. You look so sleepy, Nill! That just means I'll have to bring you to the manor as quick as possible, hmm? Hehe, well, follow me."
He brought them outside. Some stores had closed or were closing for the night. The blonde-haired girl watched bemusingly; back "home" stores opened at this hour. Somewhere between thoughts, the young host pulled out a...a....carriage-like thing. It was smaller than a carriage and looked more like a booth with wheels than a carriage. Whatever it was, it looked odd.
As if the stranger were not alienated by the contraption, Peter swept a hand towards what looked like seats. "Hop in! This is my special riksha. I use it when I want to get around faster or have company."
Nill stared blankly at the riksha. It was attached to a nice-looking bike, and she saw that it was a two-seater, this "booth." She turned to Badou, blinking and bewildered.
(eee sorry this is so short, my brain doesn't want to work XOXO)
(WTF, browser crashed before I could post.)
As their blonde-haired host steered into what seemed to be an open garage, three uniformed boys stepped out to attend to the arriving persons.
"Elias, have you prepared my guests' room as I requested?" Peter asked, unboarding the bicycle.
"Yes, sir, with tea, biscuits, and a fruit bowl," the smallest attendant answered, nodding. Right after, his eyes drifted over the guests. He inspected them, brows raising when he saw the redhead's eyepatch, which was odd to him. The other two boys blushed as they gazed upon the doll-like girl. Their superior noticed and simply chuckled before giving out more directions.
"Good. There is no luggage so please take them inside." Peter turned to Badou smiling, looking a little tired now. "Well, we should get Nill to bed. Liam, gently carry the miss to the room."
As he was told, the short-haired employee scooped the thin girl from her seat as softly as possible and proceeded into the manor.
