In search of a history [Completed]
Character(s): Kanda and Raven
Content: Raven claims that the Paixao library holds nothing regarding the city's history. Kanda finds this hard to believe.
Setting: Os Dias Sao a Noite [K4]
Time: Saturday, Noon
Warnings: None yet.
As far as libraries went, this one wasn't bad. It wasn't particularly impressive, but that was mainly because he was so accustomed to the libraries belonging to the Church, and the Order. Compared to those buildings, any other library would seem diminutive. But he had more important things to be doing than staring at the architecture.
Kanda approached the double-doors of the front entrance, and grasped the door handles before pulling them back. The scent that hit him was the type always found in libraries like this-- slightly musty and dry. Since this was a welcome change from the light snow falling outside, Kanda wasted no time in slipping inside and shutting the doors behind him.
The warm colours within the library created a "warmer" atmosphere, despite the fact that the library was just about as cold as outside. Dry, yes. Warm, not quite.
Brushing bits of snow from his hair and clothes, what hadn't melted, Kanda took a glance around. As the exterior had suggested, the library was, in fact, on the large side. He wasn't exactly sure where to start, but he'd fix that soon. He tapped his snow-dusted boots on the floor, drying them off, before heading across the first floor in search of a cataloging device.

Leaving her table, she headed towards a window and saw that it was indeed snowing. Raven looked up towards the actual domes, wondering how they were capable of creating the snow in the first place. Though she just shrugged and started to walk around the library for a warmer place to read her book in.
A fireplace was sounding really good right about now, or some candles if she couldn't find the former. In her search, Raven walked past someone with black hair and a ponytail. Past encounters had allowed her to set apart the 'locals' from the foreigners, those who were brought here much like she was. Raven kept quiet for now though. Finding that warmth was more important to her than striking a conversation with someone she'd never seen before.

It would certainly be easier if he had asked that person, whoever he or she was, more about the library.. but that wasn't really necessary. He could find things just as well on his own. After all, that was why he had come here in the first place.
Thinking about it, he knew very little about that person over the journals. And as he remembered that person, he vaguely noted a caped girl passing to his left. Since the library seemed empty, for the most part, that was strange..
He stopped and looked over his shoulder, addressing the girl. "You're.. from the journals.."

"Oh, you. The one who wanted to look through the library himself for records of this place."
In other words, the one who didn't believe her previous entry about there not being any records of writings of Paixao's history. Raven wasn't bothered much by him wanting to check things out for himself though. Who knows, maybe he'd have better luck with his search than she did.
"If you're looking for the librarian, she's in the back."

"Kanda Yuu," he elaborated, so that she could add just a little bit more to that definition. But, finding that he didn't particularly wish to add anything more, he moved on.
"You've spoken to the librarian already?" he asked. If she had mentioned this before on the journals, he didn't remember. Even if the librarian was as dull as the rest of people in town, perhaps he or she could at least point Kanda in the direction of a catalogue.

Well, he'd just have to look on his own.
He looked her over once more, and his eyes stopped on the book she carried. He wasn't familiar with the title or the author, but from what he could discern by the cover..
"Witchcraft?" he questioned, raising a brow. The church had made sure to keep him well-learned of those sorts of things, even if his main targets were the Akuma. Often, things that were thought to be witchcraft were the doings of Akuma in disguise. But he wasn't in his world, and there were no Akuma here. Still, what was this slip of a girl doing with a book on witchcraft?

Raven did indeed know many spells. Some were simple enough as curing types of petrifications. Others, were more advanced, such as being able to travel to other dimensions. The thought of using that particular spell had already come to here, but thanks to an unwanted lack of the required materials, was unable to cast it.

"Still, it's odd for that sort of book to be here," Kanda said, more to himself, as he took another glance around the library from where he stood. Then again, not knowing much about Paixao, he couldn't say what was odd and what wasn't.

"I take witchcraft very seriously, but not many people pay attention to it where I live. Just my friends, and some who shouldn't." And by 'some she of course meant her enemies who used it to further their own ambitions and cause harm more than anything. Such as... him.
"I can... show you, if you want."

At the offer, he paused. On one hand, there was the library to be examined and a catalog to be found. On the other hand, he was curious whether or not her alleged "witchcraft" was actually worth anything, or simply a spinoff from another world.
"I don't see why not," he replied. He figured that the library wasn't going to go anywhere. "You intend to do it here?"

Although Raven had none of the usual materials needed for her spells, she still had plenty of other options. The problem was, which one to use inside a place like this? Kanda had a point. Using her abilities here would be bad, and would potentially get them kicked out of the library. The thought of going back outside in the cold wasn't that much better either, but there was no choice.
"Alright, let's go outside."

All the same; hopefully Raven's form of witchcraft wouldn't require the meticulous placement of enchanted items and time wasted in preparation.

"Alright, this'll do." responded Raven before turning around and facing Kanda. "A bit of a warning, this may feel a bit... weird at first." She closed her eyes and held both of her arms out in front of her. "Azarath Metrion Zinthos!" A black aura started to surround Raven's hands, expanding with each passing moment. Soon enough, it had grown into a reasonably sized black dome, encasing and surrounding both of them.
"Let's begin then..."
no subject
"I'm used to weird," Kanda replied stolidly, as he waited for her to continue. He raised a brow at the words, not quite familiar with the terminology and yet vaguely aware that he might have heard them somewhere before. But before he could mull over this, the dome surrounded them.
The exorcist held a hand out experimentally, palm-up, in front of himself. When he felt no snow or cold air, he simply folded his arms back across his chest and waited for Raven to proceed. He'd never seen a barrier like this before. Just what else was she planning on showing him?
