Flonne was gone.

He'd looked everywhere he could possibly think of. No one had spoken to her for days, no one had seen her for days, she was just... gone. He always knew that in a blink of an eye those around him could just vanish. Heck, it could even be him who did the vanishing. It was a fact of being here he couldn't ever really forget, but it had certainly not been foremost on his mind of late. He should have thought about it, he realized in hindsight. More and more people were disappearing lately. How many outsiders were there even left? It didn't feel like many.

He'd been here a long time, and he'd never seen this few a number of people. When people vanished, there always seemed to be someone new to fill the place, but it wasn't that way at all. What was happening?

Whether he should have expected it or not probably would not have eased the blow of Flonne's departure. The pain dug into his chest far harder than the last time he'd lost her. And it was worse this time with all the talk of all the worlds outside being gone and the like. It meant she might not even be back, safe in the Netherworld as they had all believed, but that just led to questions with no possible answers.

After awhile the pain in his chest gave way to anger. Anger at himself for failing her and anger for Xemnas and this whole situation. He was tired of feeling like a prisoner. He was tired of not being able to find a way back to the Netherworld--the REAL Netherworld. He was tired of losing people. He was tired of feeling like, once more, he'd been powerless to keep someone that mattered to him close.

There was only one thing he felt he could do right now: find the door to the next floor. If he could get to the top, he could find that Xemnas bastard and defeat him. Then hopefully they could get answers and he could find Flonne.

The problem was, however, finding the door. He had actually tried to look at the place, but he hadn't been sure where to even start. The floor looked like someone had taken a bunch of different chunks of buildings and places from different worlds and just glued them all together. Finding the door could take forever.

That's when the idea formed in his head. He'd always resisted the idea of trying to actually attack the castle itself. He hadn't wanted to bring the place down on top of them all, so the idea had been dismissed from his mind. Of course, he'd made that decision a long time ago. Things had changed. Now he had to wonder if it was possible. It wasn't like he would destroy the whole floor, he just needed a hole, that would lead to the next floor.

Of course, no one else seemed to like his idea. He should have known that no one would be behind him on this. He'd ended up tossing his journal aside, sick of their attempts at trying to convince him otherwise. Laharl wasn't going to let them talk him out of this.

He needed answers. He needed to find his vassals. Laharl was going to make a door.

Standing on that floor, he stared upwards, uncertain of what was about to happen, but either way he was going to try. Raising his arms, he began to gather his power.

Krichevskoy hadn't bothered saying anything in the journal post, instead choosing to start off the moment he had read the initial entry. Laharl needed someone there with him now, and just saying something over the network wouldn't do any good.

And the more he checked back on the entry, the more convinced he became that that was the correct decision. All he could think of as he walked through the mismatched, patchwork floor was Celestia and the events he had to stop then. And yet this seemed even worse than that--Laharl's life wasn't the only one at stake. Even if Krichevskoy didn't know exactly what that young man had meant when he had been talking about time and space being distorted, if the consequences of Laharl's actions even had a small chance of hurting that many people, he couldn't allow Laharl to go through with it.

Krichevskoy was beginning to wonder if he should turn around and try to look near the entrance again when he sensed a spike of power nearby. From there, it didn't take long for him to catch a glimpse of Laharl's red scarf and to close some of the distance between them.

"Laharl."

"Mn." He nodded. "I will help you look for the door, but I cannot allow you to go this route. There are too many lives at stake."

Krichevskoy sighed softly. "I know. And I know you would not hurt these people willingly. But if there is a chance that even putting a hole in these walls would cause a disaster, I cannot let you continue."

He paused and took another step closer. "What would you do if these rash actions brought harm to your mother?"

It was a bit low, he knew, but if it could get Laharl to listen to reason...

He had been hoping to avoid this, but it seemed Laharl was too upset to listen to reason. "I will not," Krichevskoy said softly, and rushed forward, closing the distance between the two of them in an instant. He reached out to snatch Laharl's wrists.

If he had argued anything else, he might have continued talking, but as far as Krichevskoy knew of his son, if Laharl would not stop for his mother, he would not stop through words alone.

"I told you," Krichevskoy said calmly, still holding onto Laharl. "I will help you search for a door if you are that determined to go, and I believe others are just as willing to give you aid. But I will not allow you do this. Even if it is painful, you are not alone."

"Then tell me. But I won't let you go until I can be sure you will not do anything you will come to regret."

Krichevskoy's face softened. That much he could understand. "But does that mean you have to do it this way? Even if you have good intentions, it is still selfish to risk so many lives this way."

He was quiet a moment, but then spoke up again. "And it risks your life as well. If you die here, what can you say you have done for her?"

Krichevskoy tried to stamp down on his frustration as he shifted to keep a better grip on Laharl. Getting angry with Laharl now wasn't going to help matters he knew, but it was getting very difficult not to get angry.

"Then what about when you do get through? Do you think you will be able to defeat all of the Organization on your own?" Krichevskoy wasn't even sure if both he and Laharl together could manage it. They could hold their own, yes, and he had no doubt they would take a good portion of the members down with them, but this "Kingdom Hearts" that was said to be in their possession... Krichevskoy didn't know what to think of that.

"Then if you will do whatever it takes, will you wait for awhile? Until you have more people with you. I'm not saying that we cannot make progress, but right now..." he trailed off, the words dying in his throat.

"No one is going after the Organization until we have a group that can fight them. You are not. I am not," he said firmly.

Krichevskoy's grip tightened around Laharl's wrists. "Absolutely not! I will drag you from this place myself should you persist with this!"
beautifulrondo: (dramatic speech is go!)

Krichevskoy hissed in a pained breath, but though his knee buckled a bit, he was still able to keep standing and hold onto Laharl, though his grip involuntarily tightened even worse at first from the pain.

"I am not going to allow you to die running off without any planning like a fool!"

"As your father, yes it is," he snapped, and turned around to start walking back to the Netherworld.
