Can you handle the consequence of your actions? [Active/Closed]

Character(s): Xemnas, Roxas. Much later Saïx, Axel, and Naminé.
Content: Not only is Roxas fueled by regaining his memories, but now after also finding out a certain something from Marluxia. Well, someone has to curve the rage of a peon... Clearly this is a job for the Superior.
Setting: ???
Time: Not horribly long after the above link, week 39
Warnings: Prob will be slow since Wolfie and I are on hiatus XD but thread has been planned for about 5 months so when we do have time it should get places Um, fighting, violence, harassment of Nammers, effing up your friendships, Roxas getting slapped back into place... yeah. Typical Org drama.

The fragment of paper – old, wrinkled, and frayed around most of its edges – was barely held between three gloved fingers. Xemnas stared at it, time passing completely unnoticed to him. The rest of its words were gone, in the hands of the traitor – and for how long had they been there? For how long had Xemnas been without the rest? Even this fragment was nigh impossible to find again, hidden in the back of other reports, pressed tightly against another leaflet. His eyes slid away to look at his own journal, poised on an edge of the desk top, teetering. The whole desk was in disarray, drawers open, papers strewn about in his search for this one report.

His fingers curled in towards his palm, taking the fragment with them, crumpling it until it was just a small ball. He tightened his hand around it, the simple act his only show of emotion. He pocketed it, and then with a swift flick of the hand, he called up a portal of darkness, and exited the room, later to be found in a white corridor...

This wasn't how it was supposed to go down... He'd just wanted everything to go back to normal. Sure, there were obvious bumps in the road, and maybe even a few plotholes in the long run of the scheme... but with the way things were headed... Even the idea of sharing ice cream with his friends seemed to be slipping right through his fingers...

Leaning up against a wall, Axel stood still, obscured by the shadows, sure that he would pass by this way... Maybe there was still time to convince him not to do this...

A shock of bright red in the stark white hallways brought Roxas' hurried footfalls to a sudden stop. The telltale leaning pose was all too familiar. That day, at Memory Skyscraper...when Roxas left. Just before...

"Axel." The blond's tone was flat.

"So it's come to this, huh?" Of course Roxas wasn't going to be happy, and it for once it had nothing to do with the whole... Nobody thing. XIII had proven himself different from the rest in just about every way possible -- one of the things that had helped build up to this moment. "... Going after him isn't going to make any of it go away, you know."

"How do you know?!" All Roxas could feel right now--and he could feel, he didn't care what anyone said!--was anger. Thanks to Xemnas, everything he'd ever had in his short life was taken away from him. He couldn't trust Axel, and he had lost Xion. All because of Xemnas!

"I'm going to beat him, and everything's going to go back to the way it's supposed to be!"

Axel almost cringed at the vehenemence with which he was met -- but maintained a poker face throughout. "You can't really be that naïve! You'll be no better off than Marluxia, hunted down like a dog. Blacklisted. How's that going to help anyone?"

There was no room in Roxas' mind right now for reason. The last thing he was going to let anyone do was talk him out of this...especially not Axel. "No one would miss me." That was what Roxas had told Axel last time, right? Other memories of the future were clouding his resolve, telling him that wasn't true, but he had to do this!

"Like you'd care! All you did was lie to me!" Roxas threw his fist down from his side, his face a contorted mix of pain and rage. "The only thing you ever cared about was yourself!"

With that, the Kingdom Key came to Roxas' right hand. Moments later, a second Kingdom Key appeared in his left.

"That's not true!" He piped up quickly, maybe it wasn't obvious to anyone but him... but he'd stuck his neck out many a time to ensure the safety of Roxas and Xion. After his protest, his shoulders sagged, deflating a little at the accusations sent his way. Maybe most of his moves were of the shady variety, sure but... in his own, twisted way -- he'd been protecting them. Both of them...

As the keyblades were summoned, it was becoming quickly evident that there wasn't going to be any way to solve this rationally... that was seldom the case when it came to Organization business. "Don't do this, Roxas..."

A thought came to Roxas' mind--one he was sure was thanks to Sora and Ven. But he got rid of it just as fast. Even if Axel did decide to help him...he'd only lie about something else, betray him some other way.

"Get out of my way, Axel." The two Kingdom Keys shone bright, then were replaced by Oathkeeper and Oblivion in a flash of light.

"I'm not just gonna let you just walk into the lion's den..." Axel spoke carefully. Those two keyblades were an ominous sight on their own, and the redhead looked down at his own hands as his chakrams took shape in his palms. "I can't let that happen!"

"I'm not gonna let you stop me!" Roxas crouched down, and the Keyblades both began to glow. He darted forward suddenly and slashed the weapons in a cross, releasing them to dance around him in a dazzling and very deadly ring.

He wasn't going to waste time. The sooner he made it to Xemnas, the sooser this would all be over.

The hit connected -- he hadn't expected to be struck so quickly -- and the speed that Roxas used wasn't something he could have evaded. "Gah!" Axel toppled slightly forward, though he caught himself before hitting the ground. He scowled, then set his weapons on fire, spinning, then lauching one of them in Roxas' path.

Quickly summoning the floating Keyblades back to his hands, Roxas blocked the flaming chakram with Oathkeeper, then knocked it away. Surrounding himself in bright light, he closed the distance between the two of them. bringing Oblivion up from the floor in an arc over his head, then down powerfully right into Axel's chest.

It was a good thing that he hadn't thrown both of them, so he had something to defend himself with -- barely in time -- as Roxas tried to land the next strike. The impact caused the chakram to stop spinning -- as Axel grunted, realizing quickly that this wasn't going to end well for him.

"Yii-ahh!" he cried, calling up a wall of flams to surround him in a last ditch effort to put some distance back between them.

The flames made Roxas jump back, but they didn't hold him at bay for long. He launched Oathkeeper spinning through the air, then held Oblivion up for protection as he charged through the wall of fire after it, aiming a kick at Axel's gut.

Using the chakram again to try and stave off the first keyblade launched his way, the rebound force of it caused him to lose his grip. By the time he turned towards the direction Roxas was coming from, there was already a foot connecting with his abdomen.

"Oof!" Axel was pushed backwards by the force, landing hard on the ground a few feet away. From this spot, he propped himself up on his elbows, rubbing at the corner of his mouth with a gloved hand. "That... wasn't half bad. Heh."

Oathkeeper reappeared in Roxas' hand as he pointed Oblivion straight at Axel's heart--or the place it would be, if he had one.

"Give it up, Axel."

Stumbling back up to his feet, Axel's line of sight is lowered, a crooked grin on his face. "Not just yet!" he cried, jumping backwards as a wall of flames encircled them both, with Axel fading behind them.

Hoping to use the cover of the fire, he sprints around the outside of the wall, bursting through it eventually, both chakrams back in his hands this time as he propelled himself forward with a trail of fire behind him. "Burn, baby!!" he cried, hurling towards Roxas.

Axel thought he was being clever, but thanks to Ursula, Roxas had seen this before. With a swiftness that would defy anything Axel had seen of his younger friend, Roxas slid out of the way and jumped into the air, hurling Oathkeeper at Axel's back.

"Is that all you got?"

As the force of the keyblade sent him crashing to the ground, Axel lay there. His breathing was laboured, the dirt on his face and the trickle of blood that seeped from his mouth making him look all the more worse for wear.

"Heh... Looks like... you win this round."

A wave of guilt broke Roxas' anger, softening the lines of rage that had been etched onto his brow since the fight started.

"Axel..."

How had it all come to this, Roxas asked himself. But even as the question formed in his mind, he already knew the answer.

Xemnas.

Axel coughed from his spot on the ground, turning himself over to look at Roxas with his own eyes, smirking a little in the bitterness of the situation. Just as he'd gotten him back -- here he was, slipping through his fingers again. Being part of the Organzation... made it hard to hold onto anything. "You'd -- better get going then... I guess..."

That smirk made Roxas' heart ache, but he couldn't tell why. He hadn't experienced emotion like that before.

He steeled himself again, and put thoughts of his friend aside. If he was going to fight Xemnas, he couldn't be distracted...no matter what the distraction was.

"...Yeah. See ya..."

The blond started off down the featureless white hallway again, not even noticing that he'd used Axel's own parting greeting.

He chuckled, laying there, and closed his eyes. "Heh..." he spoke quietly, long after Roxas was out of ear-shot. "Yeah. See ya..." Or so, he hoped.

The further Roxas went into the Castle, the faster he ran. The visions he had seen before, the reason he'd never really been in CO before, they weren't happened now at all. But they weren't important anyway.

Finally, another black-coated figure could be seen at the end of one of the countless white corridors, the silver hair atop his form unmistakable.

"XEMNAS!" Without waiting for a reaction, or even stopping in his running, Roxas summoned both Oathkeeper and Oblivion. He held the Keyblades above his head, then slashed them toward the ground. Bright columns of pure white light exploded outward from the Keyblade Master's Nobody, as he launched himself with all the power he could muster right at the source of all his anger.
