A lovely walk in the park is good for anyone [Closed/Active]

Character(s): Cogsworth & Lumiere
Content: Cogsworth forces Lumiere to get some fresh-air, and so they take a trip to the park. And later everything gets messed up.
Setting: From the Beast's household to a bench nearby.
Time: 12.02pm
Warnings: How bad can it be between these two? ...forget I said that.

"Lumiere, you absolutely must get some fresh-air!" Though the nightmares had dwindled out in the recent, Cogsworth had still been feeling the ware of constant worry and stress that they had brought to him; his thought-pattern had been changed to one that he knew was not pro-active to dwindle on. Of course, being stuck in a house with so little to do (and everything else already done) but  think wasn't good for that 'let's not think about my friends possibly being cursed forever' plan.

And so there Cogsworth stood, shouting at the cocky candelabra. "All matters aside, I am still the head of the household as appointed by the Master, and this is an order!" The Beast hadn't exactly appointed him head of the new household; Cogsworth had assumed (and figured that no-one would know any better) that because it was the same serving staff, he would have kept his job for the new household.

He hoped that Lumiere would listen to him for once; Cogsworth knew that this would be good for the both of them, and- as much as Cogsworth was not so fond of Lumiere and his ways at times- he had been cooped up for all those years too... He knew that fresh-air was a godsend.

Cogsworth was right. It was certainly a rare thing, especially for Lumiere to admit, but what was even more exceptional was the fact that they actually agreed on something. They had spent some time inside the stuffy little apartment. And though the two servants were used to capitation of sorts, having several years without so much as leaving the castle (aside from the garden), that had been different. There had always been plenty to do within its walls. And after having maintained an entire castle, to do the same to a simple apartment was… Well, boring! There was no challenge to the job and considered nothing more than child’s play. The prince had talent among his staff, talent which had since their arrival been wasted. True, Lumiere faced his share of difficulty without the aid of the enchanted inhabitants of the castle, cutlery included, but that had done little to slow him down.

Needless to say, the longer they remained in the apartment, the longer the days became, all of which beginning to feel the same. Were it not for Cogsworth’s punctuality, Lumiere would have had little awareness of the time passing them by. What was an hour, an afternoon, or even a day when they all felt the same?

Then there was Cogsworth. He was another story all together. Ordering him to go outside… Of all the folly. Nose held high, Lumiere kept his back to the man as he raved on, arms crossed firmly across his chest. “If it is of such importants, could we not simply open the shutters and let in some air?” He longed to go outside just as much as Cogsworth, but ordering him to do so was not the way. The candelabra was far too stubborn to allow the head of the household to tell him what to do. As if the overgrown pocket watch knew what was best for him. Hah! Although, now it felt now as though he was arguing for the sake of arguing, really. Perhaps he was.

Lumiere could not tell whether Cogsworth had meant to tease him or if it had simply been case of poor wording on his part. Of course he had not taken a walk in the park. Though, he had been fortunate enough to join the prince and Belle for a picnic there once. The girl had told the most fascinating story about three sons and a beautiful peach orchard. But what had been even more marvellous about the trip was that it had marked the beginning of something more between the prince and Belle. Lumiere briefly smiled at the memory before reminded of the matter at hand.

“Walk?” the candelabra could not help but laugh, choosing to tease the poor man. “A waddle, perhaps, with you.”

The candelabra followed Cogsworth’s gaze down to where his feet were found absent, his wax face greeting him instead in the reflection of the brass stand that stood in their place. His gaze remained there, the strength of his flames having lessened to the point where they threatened to go out entirely the longer Lumiere did so. He held out the candles he had in place of hands, deep in thought while he examined them. The curse had taken many things from him, perhaps even the very humanity he so desperately tried to cling to. Feet and hands meant nothing compared to the heartbeat he had lost. Could he even be considered ‘alive’ anymore?

Lumiere looked back up at Cogsworth, a smart remark at the ready upon his tongue after the man’s words. However, it was of no worth saying, Lumiere no longer caring to argue. He felt as defeated as he looked. Straightening his slumped shoulders, the candelabra smiled at his old friend to assure him he was alright. “A walk would be nice, mon ami.” He replied, the brass undertone of his voice ever evident.
