Character(s): Jade, Luke, Guy, Tear...Florian?
Content: Jade requires...information. Good thing he has test subjects, I mean, friends.
Setting: Iriela Apartments II and behind said building
Time: Afternoon, Week 37
Warnings: None.
Jade set the book he was reading aside and stood up from the desk he had been sitting at for far too long. Arms behind his back, he turned and walked towards the window, the afternoon sun reflected off his glasses. The snow that had been falling had frankly felt a little too familiar...he hated the snow. Malkuth was like a summer paradise after the cold and bleak village he had grown up in. To say he was homesick would be a gross over-estimation, but at the very least, the snow here did little to break his pensive mood.
And there was a lot to be pensive about. Since arriving, Jade had busied himself with gathering information. Bad enough to arrive late to the party, such as it was, but it wouldn't do to go into this mess ignorant and blind. A lot of the information was a little hard to swallow, but Jade believed in rolling with the punches. If they had indeed been transported to an entirely different world -- a world with no Score, no fonons, no fonic artes -- then rather than fighting reality, adaptation was the only key.
Staring into space, Jade frowned. How were they functioning here? Theoretically speaking, if this dimension had no such thing as "fonons," how were they still existing? Forget using their artes, all things considered, they should be scattered into a million molecules without the environmental make-up of their own world holding them together.
"Luke," he suddenly called, his deep voice carrying thanks to years of military authoritarian training.

"Luke," he suddenly called, his deep voice carrying thanks to years of military authoritarian training.

As normal as it could get these days, anyway...
He watched with interest, and a little concern as he addressed Luke.

Obviously, most of all, Luke did wonder what had happened to his own fonons. He was here, after all, alive and seemed to be, well, in one piece. His fonons were meant to have scattered to the breeze by now, but he was fine. It was something Luke was very grateful for, but he didn't know if it was a side effect of being in this place. Natalia had worried returning to Auldrant might somehow change that, but Luke hadn't wanted to believe that.
None of these things, however, were on his mind today, as he lounged on another sofa, looking almost like he was half asleep. He wasn't, but he was caught off guard enough by Jade's sudden call of his name to cause him to jerk.
Sitting upwards, Luke peered over the back of the couch, revealing that he had been possibly closer than Jade had realized.
"I'm here... what is it?" he asked, obviously more than a little curious about the sudden summoning.
forgot it was my turn........ orz......
"Is something the matter, Colonel?"
no subject
He looked back and forth between the two, wondering curiously if something was going to happen.

Jade walked towards the others, adjusting his glasses. "I'm interested in seeing how your abilities fare in this world. And not just Luke...all of you. We can even make a game out of it. Whoever bests the others will win something special from me~"

"Why are you so interested?" Luke questioned. He couldn't even use fonic artes like the others, but he knew his strike artes worked well enough. They didn't feel any different really. He hadn't tested his hyperresonance, and he was honestly wary of doing so.
no subject
"But I admit... I'm curious also. This world certainly doesn't have the same construct as Auldrant. It might be a small miracle in itself that our artes remain in tact... We should test those that we know, so that we won't be caught off guard if something unexpected were to happen."
no subject
Despite that he couldn't help but ask, "What does the winner get? Is it good?"
no subject
"I'm interested for a number of reasons. Tear has a point -- it's best we confirm our abilities now rather than have them fail when our lives are on the line. Secondly, by investigating how our abilities fare here, I can likely draw some conclusions on how this world functions." He grinned, crossing his arms.
"Thirdly, you're starting to get a little chubby around the middle. Exercise would do you good." Of course, one glance as the washboard abs Luke displayed with his particular outfit would reveal that as a lie.

Taking a step closer to the young boy, Guy placed a hand on Florian's shoulder and smiled. "See? It doesn't have to be all bad, we'll try to make it more fun than it sounds," he winked and gave a thumbs up with his other hand. "Like a fonic game of tag. How's that sound?"
no subject
Either way, it seemed there was going to be no getting out of this. Sighing, Luke pushed himself up from the couch, retrieving his sword from nearby. "Alright then. Let's do this," he said, as he fastened the sheath to the middle of his back. The sooner they started, the sooner they would get this over with, after all.
"But don't expect me to show you any hyperresonances," he added.
no subject
"Let's regroup outside then, shall we?" she walked towards the door, and picked up her rod along the way.
no subject
The fact Tear was heading for the door was a little surprising--he hadn't thought that they might be doing this outside--but that made sense, now that he thought about it. He took his own step forward.
no subject
"I'm counting on you to prevent any major damage," he said quietly, the smile gone from his face. Though he'd worked past the block on his power and was effectively in top shape, the one fonic arte he'd never been able to use was the healing arte. It would have to fall to Tear, a task he knew she was more than capable of.

Meanwhile, Luke led the way outside, coming to a stop in a fairly open and empty area near the building. And there he awaited further instruction, not too sure of exactly how Jade wanted them to do this, although he couldn't say he was any interested in this prize of Jade's.

She followed behind Luke -- heavy thoughts weighing on her mind. As he stopped, she did so too, near him, and turned to face the others. "This should do just fine," she announced, reaching for her staff.

He looked curiously around at everyone when they reached the spot, staying quiet for the moment.
no subject
He smiled. "...in theory."

"Well Luke, this is as good an opportunity as any to show me all the stuff you learned since we were together last, right?" Trust Guy to try to look on the bright side of things. He pulled his sword out and took a defensive stance -- "Go ahead and take the first strike."
no subject
"Heh, alright," Luke replied, mood perking up a little at Guy's words. He had grown a lot stronger since the last time Guy here had seen him fight. The question was, how to start? Jade wanted to see them use abilities right? That would mean using artes... Well, if Guy wanted to see what he could do, there was no point in not surprising him.
Making up his mind, Luke dashed forward, leaping up and flipping over as he then slammed his sword into the ground, sending a shock wave towards Guy with a cry of, "Slag assault!"

But as she turned to glance at Florian, it was hard not to smile at the boy. "What would you chose, Florian? If you could play whatever game you wanted to?"
no subject
"Hmm...how about tag? I like tag." It was fun and had simple rules, and--what was slag anyway? Maybe he'd ask Luke when he was done fighting.

He held a hand by his mouth suddenly and shouted out to the yard. "Come on, Guy! Don't pull your punches just because there aren't enough ladies here for you to impress! If you'd like, you can think of me as a pretty girl~" While it certainly seemed he was simply antagonizing the man as usual, there was a second motive to this, Jade's fonic-enhanced eyes intent behind his glasses.
Their enemies in this world used far more than just combat to keep people down. Emotional manipulation seemed to be one of their top arsenals, and for all the mental growth and emotional strength this group acquired after everything that had happened, they could still be vulnerable. Especially since they seemed to be from varied points in time.
At the very least, he had to be sure they could stay focused in battle.
sorry guyssssss!!! orz...
He nearly faltered, disturbed -- and yet at the same time a little unsurprised -- by his tactics. "Why does he have to say it like that..." he groaned quietly, his agony probably just loud enough for only Luke to hear.
"Moonlight Demon!" he cried -- slicing his sword towards the redhead.

After that brief distraction, Luke quickly focused back on Guy as he realized he was moving to attack again. He decided to simply guard against the first part of Guy's attack, then jumping to avoid the last blast of energy that shot low. He then dove forward, driving his sword straight forward. "Sonic Thrust!"
