Glowing Sky [Active]
Character(s): Tinkerbell, Sky Smith
Content: A worried Tinkerbell meets someone new.
Setting: Jogo da Crianca
Time: Evening
Warnings: None
It didn't take a genius to feel the tension going on in the city. Tinkerbell knew Paixao was dangerous -- anyone who knew anything about Heartless or the Organization could tell you that -- but this was the first time she'd seen so much...conflict. All this hurt and anger, so many people scared or confused. Hearts full of rage, the post on the message board had said...
She missed the days of playing around, of innocence and laughter. Why did nothing ever stay good? Sooner or later, shadows crept back up. Perched on the edge of the fountain in the park, Tinkerbell sighed at her reflection in the water. If only there was something she could do or say to help...

But she'd found a park, so it was worth it.
Sky wandered around the park all smiles and glee. Looking at this plant and that trying to see if it looked like any from home, and if it looked different. Just in case she might find a new pretty flower to take home with her. Of course, she found something she'd not find at home, and that definitley needed investigating. "Hello, you're very small, but really pretty," Sky said as she looked at the pixie near the water.
She looked like the creature that was in the Disney logo sometimes, at the start of movies. But... since that creature wasn't real, she couldn't be the same thing. So Sky filed this away as a contrived coincidence as the universe is a big place, those sometimes happen.

Preening, she stood up and patted her hair into place, susceptible to flattery as always. "Ah ha, well, thank you. What are you doing out here, all by yourself?"
no subject
"Exploring, I was looking for something... but I saw a park and had to look around," Sky skirted the subject of what she was looking for. Both because she had no idea what it was and because it might be a secret. Not that the pretty little fairy wasn't very trustworthy by appearance, just the Doctor seemed concerned with not sharing too much. So when it came to her mission working with The Doctor she would be less forth coming.
"I'm Sky, but sadly I'm not the right color for that name," Sky's voice was cheerful and slightly apologetic for her failure to be indigo. Sky's eyes moved to the blonde creature's wings for a moment, wondering how she flew when the ratio of mass vs. lift was all wrong. Unless the creature had a jet, or some form of levitation... "Do you fly?" Sky asked, blunt and direct as ever.
no subject
"I think Sky is a great name for you."

She moved her hand a bit closer to eye level, easier to talk to the sprite if they weren't hurting their necks to see each other. "Fascinating," the word was filled with childish interest, removing any scientific or analytic feeling from a word science claimed as its own. Merely a word repeated after hearing it enough at home, and given a new life. "Tinkerbell suits you too," Sky added, smiling energetically.
"Why are you out here all alone?" It was a fair question, Sky was asked similar when she arrived.

She let out a sigh, puffing up the air to her heavy bangs. "I was just trying to figure out a way to make people happy again."

There were a lot of people, she would need a much better idea for cheering them up. "Candy. Sweet foods that are bad for teeth are a socially acceptable way to cheer everyone up." Sky didn't know anyone that said no to candy, so it should be safe for everyone here.
no subject
At the mention of candy, however, all pretense left her and her wide blue eyes got even bigger. "Candy...oh, I really do love candy! My friend Timon got me some chocolate once and it was the most delicious thing ever! I should ask him where he got it." Tink paused, looking up at Sky with a guilty look.
"Is it...is it really bad for your teeth...?"
no subject
"It is... but that's part of what makes it good to eat," Sky looked a little guilty too, having to confirm such a thing. She didn't want to lie, and apparently there were no malls here. Or maybe there were but they weren't called malls. Still, chocolate was available, which is good. Sky liked it.
"Timon is a weird name," This is the second time Sky has said that in her life, she didn't expect to run into the name out here... Curious, but Sky leaves that thought alone. "Are you the only one of your species here?" Sky didn't hesitate on the question at all, and showed no hesitation about the sudden drastic topic shift.
no subject
"Huh?" Oh, Sky had asked her a question. She shifted to lay down on her stomach, head peering out over the ledge and looking into the water. "I think so..." She reached out to lightly touch the water's surface, letting her reflection ripple and distort. "I usually am. Must be nice to have a bunch of humans around you now, though, right?"
no subject
"I'm not human," Sky didn't sound insulted by the sprite's mistake, "I do a good job pretending to be one. Also humans are so exciting, I wouldn't want to be away from 'a bunch of humans,' I rather like them." 'Rather like them' is an understatement, she was ready to die to save Earth once. She spends her free time saving Earth in little ways too, it was a hobby.
Sky peered at the water as it rippled, "Do you like humans? I mean, the world isn't designed for people my height, and you're much smaller. I suppose flying would make up for some of that."
no subject
Grinning, Tink sat back up. "Kids are way more fun than the grown-up! Adult humans are all serious and stuffy and they don't believe in magic." She made a face, sitting back and supporting herself with hands behind her. "How could you even live like that? It'd be a world without color...you have to have fun or else what's the point?"
no subject
"Adults don't believe in a lot of things that exist," Sky was thinking about the run-in with the Veritas, it was a very busy day. Especially the mob that thought she was responsible for everything that happened when if they thought about it that didn't make any sense at all. Plus every other incident with aliens humans didn't accept... but children were better about it than adults.
"But... until the Doctor confirmed Magic was real I didn't believe in it either," there was a sliver of hesitance to the words, Sky's desire for honesty winning out against her desire to please everyone. Tinkerbell would understand, "Most things I can explain with science, and unlike everyone else my age I understand it all." Which was true, but unlike most 'nerdo-brainiacs' Sky balanced knowing how a rainbow was made and that it was really pretty. So there's no reason it can't be scientific, magical, and pretty! Right?
no subject
"The power of belief is magic's greatest ally, so I'm really glad that Doctor person was able to help you! Without faith and trust, I'd have no pixie dust!" She neared Sky's face and poked her nose with a grin. "So thank you for believing in me too!"
no subject
There was something true about belief being a power. Brains produce a lot of energy that can be conducted, she wasn't sure how that applied specifically to magic. She'd have to ask someone about it later. "The only reason I didn't believe in Magic was because I was told it wasn't real... but then again most people at home don't think aliens are real." It was curious that Sarah Jane and the others didn't know.
Just like what Tinkerbell said next was extra-curious. "Believe in you, why would that be an issue?" Sky didn't understand, did people not believe in Tinkerbell, that's silly she's right there. Sky wasn't seeing her in a higher wavelength of the electromagnetic spectrum, she was just seeing her in a way normal people see. Sky put extra attention into looking at Tinkerbell to figure out what's unbelievable about her.
Sky didn't equate fairy wings, sparkling with pixie dust, flying, and being pocketsized as 'unbelievable.'

She put her hands to her cheeks, her face the picture of dismay. "You have any idea what that does to a fairy? That takes away the glow! Every time someone says they don't believe in fairies, one of my kind dies!"
no subject
Sky had never said such words, but Clyde has said such to her. She wasn't sure how exact the wording needed, as Rani and Sarah Jane have given the same meaning without such words. "I've never said those words," it was a small blessing, but it was all she could offer.

"You're right here. People don't believe in aliens, but I'm here," Sky didn't see the confusion that adults have. Humans couldn't know about aliens, it was dangerous and scary. "Maybe... adults have trouble seeing you because humans change when they grow up."

Sky wasn't sure what the exact line was, between 'aliens hide' and 'humans ignore the obvious.' Sky was pretty certain nobody knew what the line was, as it seemed to be equal parts to work so well. As far as she's read, history is littered with ways aliens had been on Earth. "I don't look creepy, so most people just think I'm human."

"It isn't like Earth, where not being human could cause a lot of trouble," Sky considered, "being in a domed Victorian city is already weird enough for most people."
