Setting: Paixao (City of)
Time: Afternoon

Before the modern age took over, before cars and machines filled the streets and things because much too busy. Roderich stared at the buildings before him, wondering if he had taken a step backwards in time, back to when Vienna was the center of the world. But, it was wrong. He knew it was wrong. He'd seen changes in the world, taking the center of the world to another country, now that his empire was over.

But this, this wasn't Austria. This wasn't him. Even the people here were wrong. He had managed to charm some information out of a well dressed woman heading towards a restaurant, walking with her for a block or so before she had to go to the restaurant. He had received an invitation to dinner with her, but had declined, knowing that he had more important things to do. She had given him directions to the nearest train station, and he had left to try to find a way around the city, and maybe a place to stay.

...or if he was lucky, someone who didn't look like a blond, blue eyed ghost.

Iroh strode through the streets in his new (and very necessary) snow boots. He layered the clothes under his robes until his round gut protruded even more so than usual. He usually made rounds to speak to anyone who needed help in their first time around the city of Paixao. They needed directions to the nearest coffee shop so they could sober their sense of awareness or clothes to stave off the blistering cold and the cruel snowfall (which had fortunately stopped recently). This young man, almost stern in his demeanor after ending a friendly conversation with a normal citizen, was clearly different.

Iroh trudged his short legs through the thick snow and ice and made his way across the roadway and the sidewalk to come to Austria's side. "You will have to excuse me. I would have come sooner but this weather makes my joints ache in ways I've never felt before. Can I help you, my boy?"

Iroh patted Roderich on the back with his mitt-like hand before drawing it back into the hand pocket of his robes. "I will be glad to do so, young man. It may take a great while though. It seems I still never learn enough about this place," he explained as his brows raised. His expression complemented his sense of wisdom about Paixao's never-ending mystery. It seemed as though he would sooner get home before he learned everything he needed to succeed at the strange city. Still, it was all he could do to distract himself by practicing many acts of kindness in a variety of ways.

Becoming concerned for the young man's safety in the midst of the frigid conditions, he asked in a tactful way, "I know you have just arrived, but I do not want you to mistake my offer as pity for your character. If you need, I have a place where you can sit and warm your bones."

"It is the least I can do," he said, grateful for the new company, "If you want, we can stop to get you something a little warmer to wear or we can head straight to my shop."

Iroh pondered it for a second as though gauging the time was difficult task. "Oh, not terribly long. Do not let that fool you, though. Here, the months feel like weeks and so much happens that the time simply slips by like grains of sand," he said, his first finger pointed upward, "You will be able to find many things to do here. Some people spend all day making conversation, some have jobs, and some...some I still don't know too much about. I choose not to ask too much and enjoy the peace and quiet."
